Very enjoyable family vacation

Went to this resort Feb 20-27, 2016 with my husband and teen daughter. Had a fabulous week. The beach is absolutely stunning so not surprising we spent every day there. The pool was nice but same issue with people saving chairs with their beach towels all day and not letting others enjoy the area even if they were gone most of the time (so selfish)...however, we did find chairs for the brief couple of times we sat by the pool (thank you to those with social etiquette). The staff at this resort w [... read more]ere friendly and caring and really go out of their way to make sure you're stay is comfortable. I especially would like to thank Janeles (not sure of spelling) in public relations at the hotel, she helped make our stay memorable and checked in with us often to make sure we had everything we needed. Our room was clean and comfortable (had a junior suite alfresco) and we didn't request new towels every day but when we wanted them changed, the maid would do so. Certain times of the day our shower was without hot water but we just laughed about it when it happened. We enjoyed the egg omelettes every morning as well as the pasta and stir fry areas of the buffet over lunch and dinner (the chef is fantastic and will take special care of you if you provide tips, which we always do for good service!). We preferred the buffet to the A la Carte restaurants - mainly because we had more food selection at the buffet and the food was hotter and seemed fresher then plates we were served at the A la Carte. For those wondering, we were all healthy and well all week (but we were selective in food choices - making sure things were cooked through, etc.). The piano bar makes delicious speciality coffees. The snack bar has great fries (bring your own ketchup if that's something you really enjoy with your fries :). The beach pizza was preferred over the one served at the snack bar and we also enjoyed the burgers and hotdogs from the beach vendor. Roy at the beach bars is amazing...such a dedicated and hardworking staff member!! We miss his great sense of humor already and wish him well. We didn't spend much time in the evening going to the shows at their outdoor theatre but others said they enjoyed them. Exchanging Canadian money at the airport was better then waiting to do it at the resort (better exchange rate). We went for a ride via taxi to the little market (the old taxi cars are in need of repair but still a fun experience to ride in) - the market was cute and had lots to look through. Next time we visit Cuba, we plan to be a little more adventurous and go into one of the larger cities though. All in all, we had a lovely time in Cuba. Thank you to all the staff at Memories Caribe!

WE HAD THREE ROOMS BEFORE WE FINALLY WERE IN A DECENT ROOM The first room 1810 had black mold on two walls approx 3 feet up from the floor. The second room 1406 also smelt very musty but could not see any black mold but at 4:30 am we were woken by the air conditioning sounding like a cloths wash machine chugging away for the next three hours.Finally we were given a decent room 1621 where we stayed . From February 23 to March 1, 2016 we had very little warm water (no hot) with inadequate water pr [... read more]essure to wash off properly and cleanse your hair and body. The buffet food was okay but could have had better variety of fruit and their pork could have been cooked more thoroughly.Fish should be placed away from front entrance and kept better refrigerated. The main bar (by stage) restaurant's french fried grease should be changed more often as the grease smell is nauseating. Bar food hamburgers and hot dogs were okay but pizza should have been served at night also. The food and drinks on the ocean were fairly good. Bathroom facilities were filthy, smelly and not enough of them with missing toilet seats and toilet paper in most and none of them had hand towels or hand dryers that worked. Pools need to be heated as not everyone likes ocean swimming, pools remained empty for this reason. Pools could easily be heated by a few solar panels. Convenience store had hardly any product, NO SUNTAN OR AFTER BURN LOTIONT to relieve sun burn , Not enough SNACKS, CHOCOLATE ETC. The 2 a la carte we attended were the Mediterranean which was terrible I wouldn't rate it a 1, and the Pasta was okay except they didn't have many items on the menu, the best part of the Pasta was being right on the ocean. After we left both a la carte's we had to go to the main buffet for more food. The soup at the a la cartes was absolutely disgusting. The staff at the resort worked very hard to accommodate but their hands are tied for the most part. Also the resort should post something about the bites the sand fleas leave and have product on hand to help combat and relieve the itch from them. The staff was very helpful and pleasant, the beaches and oceans were beautiful and the All In One Tour was fabulous. This resort could be a higher rating if the maintenance and amenities were better taken care of. A suggestion is that this resort grow some of their own vegetable and fruits as their is adequate space and good growing seasons to do this continuously right on resort.

Meant for rest not excitement

It was lovely from the outside, beach was nice, food was good for Cuba, ground floor rooms are a mess however but the situation was remedies and we got a nice newer room the next day. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Good resort

The resort was very nice, the people extremely helpful, the food was really good and the grounds, pool and beach were wonderful. The rooms could have been a bit cleaner but were acceptable. I really enjoyed myself while there and would go back in a heartbeat.

Will definitely return

Took Diamond Club and it was worth it. We were met at Cuban airport by Sunwing representative with our bands, room numbers and check in was a breeze. Resort grounds were well kept, room was junior suite which we will choose again. Staff excellent. Good assortment of food. Loved the special effects (bubbles in pool) and the entertainment. Pools were clean and well kept. We have been to Cuba a number of times and this resort in our price range is well worth the money. Excellent sand beach.

Great vacation

We enjoyed the resort. Staff were fantastic. Julius (Junior) was an especially great bar tender on the beach. The beach was wonderful. They could have had more chairs at beach. The oriental restaurant was very good

AWSOME BEACH.GROUNDS ARE WELL KEPT AND CLEAN.OUR ROOM WAS CLEANED DAILY WITH NEW TOWELS AND SHEETS.NEVER HAD A BROBLEM WITH FLEES OR MOSQUITOS.FOOD WAS GOOD.NICE POOL.NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT WAS GREAT.CHECK OUT THE NIGHTLY POOL SHOW.

Good resort for the money

Beach beautiful,rooms need work like plumbing,food OK,graunds beautiful ,service very good,resort it's good for the families,being older would prefer something more quieter but overall we had a great time,nice change from winter

Great Time Was Had

We arrived late at night and checked in quickly. They have an all night snack bar that was great and we ended up there a lot because of the Spanish coffee and French fries. My husband had a blast in the piano bar with their great variety of music, great coffee, and staff (okay and drinks). The recreation staff were fun and I got involved more than I thought. The beach is the best anywhere and thought the weather was cool and windy it was breathtaking.

Wonderful Resort and Exceptional Staff

The resort is well laid out and easy to navigate around not to mention well maintained and clean. The staff were always very friendly and helpful (especially Dahomey, David and Migdiel at the snack bar as well as Eddie the Lifeguard and the lady who works the booking of the Al a carte restaurants). The buffet was always good but my only recommendations would be to cook the bacon more thoroughly before putting it out. Wednesday nights the buffet had a special meal going on which you had to make r [... read more]eservations for (either 6 pm or 8 pm). This caused a lot of confusion among some guests that showed up for supper unaware of the required reservations. The al a carte restaurants we went to were the Asian which was wonderful and our server was great also. The Italian restaurant on the beach was not good at all. The appetizer was horrible, nothing on the menu was available so we got the Catalonia which was small sized but good. The dessert was like cardboard with chocolate sauce. Six tables didn't even show up for their reservations as I guess word got out about this restaurant. We did hear from people we met there that the Mediterranean restaurant was great as was the Cuba so 3 out of the 4 were good. The beach bar was great except for when they ran out of 7up and ice (there was ice at the snack bar but you had to run from the beach which was very inconvenient). The beach was wonderful! There were always available beach chairs and the gentlemen that help you with your chairs were great as well. We also saw staff raking up seaweed from the beach which was great! The entertainment staff did a wonderful job of keeping the guests occupied whether it be at the beach, the nightly shows, taking guests to the disco outside the resort or organizing activities around the pool or the snack bar when it was raining one day. Our room was very nice with a balcony and king sized bed. Flor was our maid and she always ensured we had clean towels, toilet paper and the bed made. My only complaint in this area would be that our room was never swept which meant that sand was a constant on our floor no matter how we tried not to bring it in. As well, I think she put our blanket on the floor when she made the bed as we always seemed to have sand in the bed. This was our third time visiting Cuba and our first time going to Cayo Coco, Cuba. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone that is planning on going to Cayo Coco that wants to just relax at their resort for the week.

Very friendly people

Hotel not as well maintained as it could be. very friendly people. great beach and pool would recommend to friends this is our second time at this hotel gardens are beautiful and well maintained location is great because it is close to airport.

Beautiful Resort!!

The beach at Memories Caribe is a beautiful stretch of white sand. The grounds are fantastic. The staff are very accommodating and kind. Lots of activities to do for people of all ages. I would go back to this resort again!

The resort sure needs an upgrade

We stayed in room 1616! No air condition, no hot water for 3 days, than it was either too hot or too cold, only got 1 towel for the 2 of us even after complaining, our balcony was good with a nice view, but the fridge didn't work either, the food was poor , hamburgers were never cooked enough

Great time! It's not perfect, but it's nice.

My daughter and I just returned from a week at Memories Caribe (Jan 13-20). After reaching the scathing reviews, I was a little nervous as to what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised. The beach is gorgeous, but windy and narrow at times. You have to try to the pizza on the beach. The pool is gorgeous. The swim up bar wasn't always opened, but if you swim up and ask to be served, they will serve you. It was hard to get beach towels exchanged for clean ones. The food was good. The best part  [... read more]was the stir fry bar. Check it out. They cook the chicken in front of you and even have soya sauce. The food at the snack bar was good, but make sure you ask for your hamburger well done. Excellent mojitos and mimosas. The entertainment staff is so friendly and fun. The bartenders are great! If you get a chance to go to the disco, GO!!! Especially if there is a FOAM party. Best night of my life. We had so much fun. The weather was not great while we were there, but we definitely got a tan and had a great time. We met some great people. Everyone was so friendly. If you are looking for night life at this resort, plan to go off site or take a group of people with you. There is a tonne of families with very small kids there. If you're looking for a family vacation, go to this resort. If you're not, go somewhere else. There are water wings, infants in diapers and strollers everywhere!!! Our room was nice, with lots of hot water and water pressure.

Great entertainment staff !

Overall, our experience was really great. Our room was well kept and clean. The food was definitely not the best, but you won't starve. The staff were very friendly, and probably the best part. 4 stars

Great resort!

Everything was good! Food - we had lobsters at the buffet, which is I'm surprised because this is never happened to us from last two visit that we hah in Cayo coco. Buffet food was really good! Beach - absolutely beautiful, calm and my daughter enjoyed so much! Room - I am disappointed in our room because our bed was smells so bad even told to the mid it she do anything about it. I have to ask to change the our sheet everytime - if you don't ask they will not change it

Beautifull beach and amazing staff!

We returned from Memories Caribe a few weeks ago and all I can say is AMAZING! We had a great time and we enjoyed every minute of it! What made our vacation even better than we expected was the amazing staff that works at the hotel. They work so hard trying to please everyone and no matter what you need they’ll try to do their best to help you. The food was very good for Cuba and you can always find something to eat at this hotel, no matter what time is it. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and [... read more] with lots of shade; if you don’t get a palapa, you’ll get plenty of shade from the trees that are on the beach. Just relax and enjoy! Amazing resort and great service!

We’ve stayed at Memories Caribe Beach Resort resort in December and we absolutely loved it! The beach is picture perfect and this was one of the main reasons why we picked this resort. The grounds are very well maintained and the food was very good at both the buffet and a la carte. Everybody at the resort - from the General Manager and public relations people to the maids and the gardeners - is working very hard to try to make everyone happy! Memories Caribe Beach Resort

The resort was welcoming, very clean, has a great beach, and has a nice pool. Service was great and prompt. Get to the beach early to claim a good spot (shade or sun) with your towel. The water is shallow and you have to walk out a bit to get neck deep, which makes it safe and warm to swim or just play in. The beach bar has ample drinks, and the snack shack serves nice pizzas besides hamburgers and hot dogs. While kids like the beach, the pool is also good for kids and it has nice ice cream parl [... read more]or next to the pool. At the pool there is a small bar stand, a pool side bar for people in the water, and a covered sit-down area with a great bar and really great french fries and pizza, besides the regular hamburgers and hot dogs. The buffet restaurant is good, but you won't gain weight unless you go for the nice fresh bread, deserts, and ice cream which is provided in sealed quart containers (so no kids dipping into huge ice cream buckets! ). Cuban beef is usually tough, but the fish is usually great as is the fresh fruit. The is enough variety at the buffet to allow you to find something good, though it could have had more cereals for breakfast, but the omelets are great and there is lots of juice and nice coffee. The only a la cart restaurant we tried (Mediterranean) was quite good (the soup and main fist dish was great; the shrimp cocktail had very nice shrimp but no sauce just crushed pineapple!). We liked some of the evening entertainment such as the water dance show and the Michel Jackson show. There was a a variety of Cuban dance shows, but we also like the bars and playing cards. The lobby bar was very nice and we played cards and sampled a variety of drinks. One evening at the buffet has a saxophone player provide great music and we stayed till closing drinking wine. Another night we found a portable bar with great Spanish Coffee. The bartender poured burning blue liquid into metal coups a few times to heat the mixture. In the dim lighting it looked great - a waterfall of blue fire. Luckily, our very nice rooms were not too far a walk, and the comfortable king size bed was always welcoming after a busy and fun day.

Good resort

the best thing about this resort is the beach, the rest is average. I had good time exept for made steeling may sweater that I did not know till the morning we were leaving by then was to late to ask, we check out at 7am.
