Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: A disappointment place!

The place is not ready for welcoming guests. The lack of basic sanitation is unacceptable. Hotel Lobby toilets hardly have toilet paper, soaps for hand washing… 8 out of 10 times we found no toilet paper and no soap. Staff appeared showing less concern. The “run- down” conditions were seen everywhere, particularly in our room with dirty hallway ( spilling foods…), broken toilet cover, uncleaned floor, desk, door…, several hours with no running water, sewage smells….

Iberostar Coral Ensenachos: Nice beaches

I was at this resort in February. The decline by December in quality was shocking. The food in the restaurant was inedible. Serious issues with supply of basic foods. Eggs were unavailable for 5 of 6 days. Breakfast was toast and bacon. We were supposed to have three of the specialty restaurants. We were unable to make reservations at any of the restaurants. Although we did get an 8:30 reservation at the Japanese restaurant. The food was so salty and overcooked that it was inedible. I ha [... read more]ve come to expect the food and amenities in Cuba to be of lower standards in the over 40 years that I have travelled here. The state of Cuba is heartbreaking.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Wonderful Family Resort

As usual, the Melia Cayo Santa Maria provided us with another wonderful vacation. Friendly staff, great a la Carte dinners which were easy to book, a sparkling clean pool, and a beautifully maintained beach were some of the highlights of this smaller family resort.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Great vacation - will return!

This was our 4th time at Angsana, and just as good as the first three visits. We were there December 9-16th. Occupancy was low at around 120 guests, maybe fewer at times. This made it extra quiet and never a line up for omelets or at the grills. There was no evening live entertainment at all. This was a first for us. We presume it was due to the low occupancy. The staff were friendly, service was excellent, food was great even though there are shortages with some items (eg. no potatoes, bu [... read more]t the banana chips were delicious!). The weather was very windy, which forced us to spend most of our time at the pool instead of the beach. No fault of the resort, but they certainly stepped up service around the pool, bringing drinks right to our chairs at times. Our room in block 7 on the 2nd floor, and was exceptionally clean every day. Cleanest of all four visits to this resort. I don't know her name to give her a shout out, but she was excellent. We flew Sunwing again, but will try a different carrier next time. Sunwing was late by almost 2 hours heading down, and an hour late coming home. A little tired of their inconsistencies. The staff on the flight going down were awesome, but on the way back not so much. The flight on the way down was an actual Sunwing plane and staff, but on the way back was a sub-contracted airline that supports Sunwing. Definitely not the same standards.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Awesome Beach!

If spending hours in the azure water, going for long walks along a pristine beach is what you're looking for, then you'll definitely love this place. The resourt is great, the staff is friendly, the nature is unspoiled. The only minor problem I personally had is the lack of fresh green vegetables, but this would be the same in any place in Cuba. The meats, fish and seafood is plentiful though, so nobody goes hungry.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing staff

We had a great week at this resort !!! I have been to Cuba multiple times, the staff at this resort is. amazing. Like other resorts it is getting tired looking. There was only one La a cart restaurant open, the resort was very empty not high season yet. The food at the buffet was cold everyday, I checked the steam table it didn’t have enough water. I did bring this to the manager’s attention on the last day he said he would fix it. Right now in Cuba there is a gas shortage. At this point they weren’t offering much, I am sure as the high season arrives there will be more selection. The beach is amazing!!! The staff at the beach were wonderful, the second you arrive a nice man gets your chair set up. The beach bar staff is wonderful !!!! Always there to get drinks with a big smile ? The resort is very clean !!! The front desk staff is by far the worst I have ever dealt with… they literally were the only staff that didn’t care. For example they don’t care what room they give people no thought put into any of the rooms We were a couple and given a room with 3 twin beds Two friends traveling together were given a king to share. I feel after traveling long hours you should get the rooms that were asked for. Our reservation had king marked on it. The manager after getting stern with the front desk did up grade our room, just felt that should t be necessary when on vaction

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great place

We enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were a nice size and had everything you needed. We had a beautiful ocean view room. They keep the beach clean and you can always find a lounge chair. Drinks were great and plenty of food choices. Did end up with a few bug bites so if you are sensitive to them have bug spray. The grounds are very well kept and lush.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Really nice resort!!

Beach at this resort is stunning!! My husband and I had a great time. Room was very clean, food was good, staff is very friendly and helpful. With Sanctuary package you can go to two other resorts. We had a great time, i would go back ? Couple downsides: a bit far from the airport (2ish hrs) and not much entertainment.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Home away from home

Beautiful friendly staff, like family, always make you feel welcome. Grounds are kept so nice. They do the best with what food they are lacking. Feel sad when leaving my Cuban family.. Beautiful beach, great staff.

Valentin Perla Blanca: A slice of paradise

Upon arrival we were greeted with kindness and smiles. Check-in was a breeze. A short golf cart ride later were in our spacious room that would serve us well for 10 days to come. The grounds were the best kept we have seen in our 12 previous various resort visits. The beach is without saying the best in the Caribbean. The food was good this time. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Hôtel laisse à désiré

Je suis déçu de l’hôtel, toilettes publiques extrêmement sales, manque d’eau souvent pour prendre notre douche, draps sales à l’arrivée dans ma chambre. Bouffe vraiment ordinaire et redondant. Le staff est super parcontre.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing beaches

Thanks to our very helpful travel agent Eliana Anton at Tripcentral, we enjoyed again our recently stay in Iberostar Ensenachos resort. People who work there are so friendly and helpful. I want to mention Yunely and Ariel at the Ensenachos beach. Yunely is such a great human being, a hard working guy who makes everyone feel relaxed and comfortable. He will go above and beyond to accommodate anything without even us asking. Very pleased with his service. We loved his fancy drinks, kids enjoyed it [... read more] as well, specially his amazing personality. A shout out to the receptionist I don't remember her name, a young lady who will offer her help whenever she sees us at the lobby. She will remember our room's number too.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Place to relax

We came back just 2 days ago from paradise! Ok, step by step. 1. Room - we had garden view room on a second floor. So it was quite, clean and roomy. A bottle of a fresh water always is in a fridge. An air conditioner is almost mute so you can fall asleep without problems. 2. Beautiful beach with a white sand and no big waves. A lot of parasols. 3. Food in restaurants was good enough, pork, chicken, eggs, rice, pasta, fish fruits etc. but not mach varieties. Hamburger in a beach caf [... read more]é with a glass of beer after swimming in pristine water – what else do you need ! 4 Staff was always ready to help and serve you. In restaurants, bar, lobby service was excellent. Especially I would like to thanks Neydis and Niurka from Customer Service for their help. 5. Free and fast Wi-Fi is a great advantage in this hotel. When we arrived at airport my wife lost her tablet, we realized it only 2 hours later in the hotel. Next day (we arrived at 10 pm) I talk with Sunwing representative in the hotel and he promised to find out if it was found. We did not have any news about the tablet for 2 days. On third day we were told that tablet was found and we can pick it up on our way back home at airport. Wow ! it was great relief. Thank you again for making our vacation so good !

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Fun family time

We had fun family time at Iberostar. The rooms were spacious, the grounds were beautiful. We actually liked all the walking. The beach was beautiful. The small water park was a nice added touch of fun for my toddler and us as well. I usually don't have a problem with the food, but i think because Cuba was having a food shortage the hotel did the best with what they had. Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing people

Fantastic vacation. Beach , pool, service - really nice resort. The activities and service were great. Big thanks to Jorge and Albert for making our stay very enjoyable with great activities. But everybody at the resort was going extra mile to make our stay comfortable. If anything could be better I will say more veggies and better selection of veggies will be welcome (I am mostly vegetarian).

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Compassion must be in check - hard times in Cuba

In the past, my experience with Cubans has always been fantastic! A culture rich in kind, welcoming people who wanted to share who they were. This time, I felt how their reality affects their lives. They were tired, had difficulty engaging with people, and even among themselves, there was tension. Be prepared because the food is phew. I know Cuba and this time, it felt like it was the third world at the buffet. Even the eggs lacked presence, and the traditional fries. I don't know if it was just [... read more] my hotel (4.5 stars) or generalized but if you eat less meat than the others, it will be difficult. Bring what you can't live without. I've seen a lot of guests get pretty sharply corrected when trying to remember the name of their drink or using a Spanish word wrong :( The employee who worked at the bar of the main hotel acted with disrespect towards his female colleagues, I saw it on several occasions and the discomfort created was palpable amongst us. As for the rooms, ours had no hot water. We notified them for 3 days in a row and had to run to the staff to find out what the situation was, nobody knew and it took a lot of our time running around to fix it. We demanded a room change on the 3rd day, honestly, I felt like they didn't care much :( The water boys should knock at least 3 times before entering the room. It was just not happening. They slightly knock once (quickly), put the card in and enter the rooms in 2 sec, not enough time to actually figured it is indeed at your door. We were caught naked before we were even sure the knock was at our door. When we went to the reception, they suggested we put a chair at our door to prevent this from happening again. We had to consult with the other hotel reception to get a card (do not disturb), our hotel did not have them and had no interest in making our stay safe and comfortable apart from telling us to barricade ourselves once in the room. This is unacceptable. Over all, even though we were able to enjoy a few activities and a few good people/employees (the bar tender right beside the theater was amazing) at the resort, I feel that the general experience which was unpleasant largely colored our vacation. We will never go back for sure.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent resort

We did a lot of walking on the beach, swimming in the pools, dancing during the classes and in the evening. The food was very good and the staffs were friendly and helpful. We will go back there for sure and stay a bit longer than 7 days.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Nice Resort to relax

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar was a clean and pleasant resort. The lobby is spacious and modern and a great place to relax with a great view of the ocean. The room we stayed in was clean and plenty of room. The wifi connection was not stable in the room, however was strong and stable in the lobby, the buffet restaurant and the lounge/bar area. The beds and pillows were average. The accomodation buildings surrounded the pool which was very convenient. The pool was a nice size, with two side by sid [... read more]e (one mainly for adults with a swim up bar and volleyball net, while the other was more kid friendly). The beach was beautiful, the sand so soft and the water so clear and blue. Music, drinks and food all available at the beach. Entertainment at the lobby bar nightly was well done and fun to watch followed by the DJ playing great dance music. One of the few negatives was the activities that were listed daily did not take place. This is an area the resort could improve upon, by having fun games and / or activities taking place at the beach and also at the pool. There were also no kayaks or peddle boats or snorkeling equipment available on the beach. Only one a la carte restaurant was open along with the buffet and there was a snack bar by the pool. However it was more of a casual restaurant rather than what would come to mind when you say "snack bar". There also needs to be more lighting along the paths and walkways to the building where rooms are located. All in all the resort was good if you are just looking for relaxation on the beach or by the pool. The staff was friendly and helpful. At most I would rate the resort a high 3.5+ or 4 *

Melia Las Dunas: Dirty room, cockroaches at bufet, sharks in water

Very nice gardens, fumigation for mosquitoes and black flies. Food ok. Dirty room 3111, disgusting floors and tub. Yellow, stained towels and bed shits. No refills of anything in the fridge. Staff don't pay attention to you if you don't tip, at the beach bar staff is grumpy and unhappy. Beach not cleaned of weeds. Apparently management has no money for this job. 3 days we had sharks in the water beside shore. Staff saying this is normal for November December. This sharks don't eat people. Really [... read more], you want to try? To get beach chairs and shade you have to wake up at 6am everyday. On Thursday to Sunday Cubans arrived, it was nightmare: long lines for food, no food left after them, they fill their bags with food, very demanding and rude, noisy, they took over the resort and it was crazy. Evening Entertainment only on Saturday and Sunday, the rest of the days was some music, demonstration of clothing which they sale afterwards. You have to tip separately for: cleaning, toilet paper, towels, to refill your fridge, to eat at the restaurant, to have coffee, to go with catamaran, basically for everything. This is my second time at this resort. Never coming again. I do not recommend this resort.

Melia Buenavista: Love this small resort!

This was our second trip to this quiet and relaxing resort. We love the small size with quick access to everything including the 3 beaches. The entertainment staff Navy, Anderson and Marcos work hard to provide fun for all guests with yoga, aqua gym, dancing, water sports, dancing and dominoes. Our butlers Eliney and Rey were great, always pitching in to help out if needed in the restaurants. It was good to take the shuttle to the other Melia resorts for dinner for variety. Remember to bring Be [... read more]nadryl and Bug Spray and apply day and night to prevent itchy bites.
