Weather was great! First room they took us to was very damp smelling and view was a concrete wall 4 feet away. They did honour our request and moved us . We were in a Standard Room . First 3 days our bedroom lights didn’t work on our 2 nd request they came and fixed . Bathtub drain very rusty and lots of enamel off the tub so many black spots . Pool was clean , staff very friendly and good service . Food was always lukewarm except our eggs which were the only one of 2 things cooked on a gril[... read more]l in front of us. Most meat was pre cooked and in chafing dishes . Resort dining and sleeping and smaller pool on one side of street , beach , larger pool and rest of resort on the other side . Armony Marival Resort and Spa Punta de Mita: Stunning Beach!
Everything accept the food deserves a ten My room , the beach, the hotel all were beautiful. The staff at this resort were the best I have ever had!
The food was not up to a high end resort’s standard. There were only two restaurants besides the buffet and you had to make reservations. One of these restaurants served the same as the buffet!
Too bad….this could have been one of my favourite resorts!!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: The old lady has changed.
It has been 10 years since we last stayed at the Royal Decameron. Much has changed but not for the better. The staff has remained extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful and we truely appreciated them. But the food and the maintenence has gone down a lot . The communication on booking the alacartes was frustrating . The buildings need a lot of upgrading and it would be a great help if the wi-fi would extend further then the loddy area.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Good peaceful location, great value
Hotel and facilities are fine and practical. Taxi stand, public transportation access, near a mall, short walk to beach, has beach facilities and a nice pool. Service was excellent, food was good, ambience was relaxed and quiet, parking for rental was easy and free. Rooms were a bit dated but all functioned well. For the price and star rating, the value was great.

Decameron La Marina: It’s a 2-2.5 star resort but still nice
For new resort, it’s only 3-4 years old, it is very run down. The towels are cheap and falling apart, the furniture is peeling, lots of rust everywhere. They had a row of 8-10 bikes, only 1 was in working condition. Your room key is on a cord to wear around your neck.
That being said it is on the ocean and it’s kept very clean.
Staff is wonderful, not the Sunwing rep, she was impossible to find and not helpful. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
Rooms have black out curtains, which[... read more] were great except when you wanted light but didn’t want your neighbours across the pool to see you. They need some shear curtains. Beds were comfortable and because we had 2 beds we had lots of extra pillows. TV worked great with a few English channels. No dressers for clothes, there’s a spot for a fridge but it is empty. So a big empty hole with a door instead of a fridge or drawers.
No storage in the bathroom except for a rack over the toilet.
Good pressure in the shower and lots of hot water.
Food was ok. Breakfast was probably the best. Especially the fresh cooked eggs and omelets. The scrambled eggs were chewy and flavourless. The pancakes and French toast was prepared ahead of time and not great.
The oriental night was the best. Lots of flavours and the meat was very tender. Mexican night was also very good.
The pasta was terrible, like it had been boiled for a few hours and the sauce was tomato soup.
You could always find something to eat, lots of fresh fruit and the salads were nice.
The alcohol is nonexistent. I don’t know if they water it down or just buy really bad stuff but you cannot get drunk here! Even drinking beer all day long you won’t get the tiniest bit drunk! A friend doesn’t drink more than one drink in the evening and she didn’t get drunk doing tequila shots.
Not much going on in the evenings, you need to go off resort to find entertainment at night.
Guayabitos has a beautiful long beach with a nice entry. Vendors are plentiful but not abrasive.
The town is lovely. Lots of great restaurants and street food. Venture out, it’s worth it.
If you can get a good price and love a good beach you’ll enjoy the La Marina.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: The worst!!
I’ve been to Puerto Vallarta a lot of times and this was the worst stay ever. Not a 4 stars hotel. The room was the worst. On the side of the Riu hotel, all we could hear was the AC noise. The room lack of major TLC. No curtains, no towels rack, no cover sheets, broken iron, the safe was not even attach. When we ask to put us in another room, the room they put us in was even worst. The wifi reception is worst then if you were in Cuba. The insult was the personnel at the reception don’t [... read more]seem to care. It’s unfortunate, cause this hotel as potentiel. Sheraton Buganvilias Puerto Vallarta Hotel: Great Location
The grounds were clean and well kept. The sun terrace room king was up to date and clean. The staff were friendly, polite and accommodating. The pool was fun and the drinks were good. Location of the hotel relative to the Malecon and Romantic zone was within walking distance or a short cab or bus ride to town. The all inclusive plan only included one beer per day, a bottle of water and a bag of peanuts in your room, no stocked bar. There was also a $100 peso charge for room service for each [... read more]time you ordered. Alcohol was either extra or not available with room service. Ate at the Italian a la carte restaurant and the food was fine. The buffet however was repetitive and the quality of the food was just okay. The beach area directly in front of the hotel is small and pebbly however you could walk farther down if you chose.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Convenient location
We stayed at the Hacienda and found the staff to be very helpful and courteous.
Our “garden view” room looked over the road and it cost $260 US, for the week, to move to another room. The room was not cleaned until 4:00 pm for the first few days which improved after we talked to someone at the front desk.
Attention to detail was lacking as the fan, air conditioner grate, countertops and areas behind the doors were very dusty. Only one chair on the balcony and no table to put a drink on. [... read more]We found a glass of cigarettes butts on the balcony.
Mini bar was stocked daily and there was plenty of fresh water.
French restaurant was very pleasant and the food was good. Service was excellent. Not so in the Steak House. Service and food needs a lot of improvement.
The pool area was well maintained and very pretty, but the music was too techno and loud for an adult only pool. Not a place to be if one is expecting a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.
Staff at excursion desk pushed time share meetings in order to get a free excursion. There is enough if that at the airport and it is totally inappropriate in the hotel.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great Resort in Bucerias
We enjoyed our stay at Decameron. The location was perfect! Close to town and central for day trips. It’s also not an over crowded touristy area which we like.
The resort is nice, rooms are dated but not a big deal. Bed was super comfy. We stayed in building 4. Perfect location. Close to beach, main pools and buffets.
This is not an over the top luxury resort. Do not expect that!
Alacarte is available every night but you do have to book by 8 AM. We found the app a bit of a pain to use but [... read more]that’s OK. I would strongly recommend doing as many à la cart as possible. I found the buffet food to be recycled and for the first time in all my years of travel, I had a hard time with the food. That being said, I don’t travel for the food, so I always did find something, the salad bar was awesome every day. There was an egg bar available every morning which was fantastic. I would strongly suggest showing up near the beginning of when the buffet is open if you were looking for more variety of food as the evening lunch service wears on the food becomes depleted and not replenished. My only complaint at this resort honestly was the recycling of variety of food. Again, I am not a picky eater. However, I did find eating more difficult than I ever have in the past. My only other complaint would be that only beer wine or nonalcoholic beverages are available in the buffet.
The beach is fantastic, great location! You can walk up and down for hours if you choose.
The location of the resort really is prime you can walk into downtown Barias or take indrive, bus taxi or Uber very easily from this location and it’s not very expensive. The location of the resort is a great kick off point for many day trips.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The staff was fantastic, very attentive and kind.

Riu Vallarta: Gorgeous & fun resort
The pools, beach and bars were incredible. The location was amazing, extremely close to Bucerías and not too far from Saulita if you want to take a day trip! The food was pretty good, a lot of options. When they did have tacos and they were fresh, they were very good. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend the steak house - however, the other restaurants were pretty good! The staff were kind and helpful, and the drinks were delicious. Had a blast!

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Great food and extras
The food had a good variety and was delicious especially moles and tacos. They have nice little extras like room service for barely any charge, waiter service on the beach, providing extras for room quickly if asked, and good front door service where the men remember you and come find you when your ride is ready.
The rooms are not accurately photographed- they seem quite a bit older in person than the pic that’s on their website. I was happy with my room though, maid service cleaned very w[... read more]ell. There is a small minibar with pops and beer that is restocked everyday.
This is really a family resort, I went on my vacation alone. I like kids so it didn’t bother me but I found it made it hard to meet other people as everyone was part of a family or huge extended family. There are many activities for the kids like a day camp so parents can also relax and the activities were interesting and different.
The beach is smaller but still beautiful. There are only a certain amount of beach chairs so I couldn’t get a beach chair for the first 2 days I was there bc everyone saves a chair early in the morning by putting a towel on it then walks away for several hours…so I started doing that too, reserving my chair, going to breakfast then returning to the beach and staying with chair I think they should make a policy that you can’t reserve a chair unless you are on the beach or maybe have additional foldable chairs we can borrow if all the chairs are taken.

Canto Del Sol: Same old same old
Where to begin? We’ve been going to this resort for 7 years now. We have been going to PV for 25 years but 7 years ago due to some life changes we decided to look at doing our dental work in PV. Which brings us to staying at the Canto Del Sol… it’s within walking distance to the clinic. Things have definitely changed over the years and not for the better. I understand that during Covid the hotel needed to change who their clientele was going to be. They focused more on people having wedding[... read more]. Which on the surface sounds amazing. What women out there doesn’t love to see what the bride is wearing?!? Lol. But the way the hotel is designed when it comes time for the reception you are included in it wether or not you want to be. The location is right in the middle of outside living. Which also includes all the rooms facing towards the pool and ocean. At one time time it used to be a time limit of 11. However it is now closer to midnight so forget about having a relaxing evening or staying in and watching TV.
The other issue is the hotel doesn’t have an adult pool. Even the swim up bar has young children in it. Even tho there are 3 other pools for the kids to go in and play. One reason I think this happens is because on check in they aren’t told about the wonderful kids waterpark which has a deep pool right beside it for the adults to swim in. I also wonder that even if they are told it maybe because there is no bar by that pool. Either way for us couples that don’t have children with us it becomes very annoying that we don’t get a break from the kids.
The restaurants have stayed the same except for the buffet. It is the same as most buffets but some how before it seemed different. I just can’t put my finger on way.
Now we get to the rooms. They are tired! We received towels with threads hanging off of them and holes. You wont receive a facecloth and when I asked why I was told that it was a different person the “did that” lol. Like there was a lady walking around handing out facecloths lol. And when they did restock the rooms you were lucky to get enough towels for the amount of people who stayed in the room. The taps leak the shower has no pressure and the water doesn’t get any warmer then lukewarm at the best. My sister’s shower wouldn’t turn on. She mentioned it to the front desk and was told that it would be fixed that day while we were out. It wasn’t! She finally figured out how to play with it so it would turn on.
The staff are amazing as always ! Although when you ask them to do something their response is always oh management won’t let us do that. Something as simple as changing the music to something more upbeat. You can also tell when there are more English speaking clientele instead of when they locals are there for their hotels. Please don’t get me wrong I totally understand that we are visiting their country but we spend a lot of money doing that.
Which brings me to the next issues… the rating. There is no way this hotel is a 5 star and you are definitely pushing it to say it’s a 4 star. If the price reflected what you received I’d have no complaints but the hotel is up there with some well known Brand Name hotels that deliver a 5 star treatment.

Sheraton Buganvilias Puerto Vallarta Hotel: Nice stay
Room and the food at the hotel were good. Try their soups...pumpkin, corn chowder, Florentine.
I did not inquire if there was a hotel shuttle to the city. If not, this would be a welcome addition. The city centre is not too far away...about 20 minutes walk...but this is difficult to do in very hot weather.
All in all, I recommend this hotel.
