Great resort

This is the best Memories I have been to. Staff is amazing. Beach is long wide and wonderful. Can not comment on entertainment as I was there during the mourning period. Hotel is a short ride from the airport. Only complaint is the gym does not open until 9.

Great Family Resort

Just returned from a week at the Memories on Grand Flamenco beach. Had a great time and the hotel met my expectations. It was my first visit to this hotel. The hotel was probably 35-40% full. There were always chairs at the pool with shade. Key Points: Staff is fantastic. Most bent over backwards to ensure we had a great trip! (the amazing Cuban people are why we return to Cuba) Our rooms were in bungalow 4 which is close to the pool, beach and buffets. My dad has some mobility issue [... read more]s and we had a wheel chair. He was glad as there was lots of walking, however, compared to other resorts, this one is not too large. The food was very good with lots of variety at every meal. The omelet cook was the best. Always a smile, joke and laugh in the morning. 4-5 kinds of fresh fish for the grill at lunch and dinner + 3-4 kinds of meat for the grill too. There was a carving station. Plus lots of prepared dishes too. Cuban food has improved so much. Line-ups in the buffet were very short for omelets, pasta, grilled fish or meat. I've been over 25 times and never been sick on the food. However, they only had rice and beans on the buffet one day and never served banana's flambe. (my favorite - apparently they only have this when there are lots of bananas) We had 2 birthdays in our group and the chef provided cakes for both dinners. Got a special table at the buffet with roses for the ladies. Most bars served limited brands - Lobby bar had best selection, but still a bit limited. I think the Diamond Class guests get a better selection, but it's not in plain view. Beach is being reclaimed, and will be fantastic soon. Didn't need water shoes to go swimming. it was really windy and the water was wavy, so not able to snorkel or go out on any Hobie cats. The only beach shade is near the trees in the back. They need to finish the reclamation work and get some beach shade umbrellas built fast. There was lots of painting going on. They are getting ready for high season. it's nice to see them improving, but it made our visit a bit smelly. The rooms were OK. We were in a ground floor room and had quite a few bugs (looked like roaches, but no spiders) The beds were hard and the pillows too. Our hotel room phone didn't work at all - they said they were working on it. So it you needed to speak to the PR team, you had to go in person and no wake up calls. All maintenance was done quickly (toilet leaked, light in bathroom blew). Entertainment was OK. Lots of live music in the lobby every night. No disco on site so if you want to go dancing you have to go down the road and it's going to cost you extra. Pools were cold. Good thing it was sunny and warm. The foam party on Thursday afternoon was lots of fun. I would consider a return trip to this hotel because the staff was so amazing.

Very Meh...

It would seem as though we arrived during maintenance week. The beach was closed for dredging for 5 of our 7 day stay, and when it was finally open, the sand was coarse and very "shelly". We could have gone for a 10 minute walk in either direction to sit on the beach if we really wanted to, but that was not my intention. The rooms were okay - mildewy, and a little grimey. Our curtains didn't open the full way so we had to use the coffee table to pin them to the walls to get more light in our [... read more] room. We also had a number of bugs in the room (little flying, crawly ones... and at least one small spider). The water pressure and temperature was lacking and the shower head sprayed in all different directions, including back at the wall when placed in the shower holder. Neither of our phones worked in the room. Staff were also in the process of repainting most of the surfaces around the pool during our stay. Drips of red paint/stain and the faint stink of fresh chemicals were always around. Crews were building a diamond club bar during the whole week we were forced to sit around the pool, which was FREEZING. The pool deck was littered with sticky mojito messes, lime wedges, and discarded cigarette butts. Your drink of choice was not always readily available as bars frequently ran out of certain beverages, including one night where the Snack Bar ran out of wine and my mother had to walk to the lobby bar to get another bottle because the staff refused to restock the bar for her. Needless to say, that wasn't the resorts most shining moment. That being said, the majority of the staff were wonderful and helpful. The food was good... lots of variety and tasty. While Cola and Fanta were hard to come by in the buffet, especially earlier in the day, and the coffee being coolish (never hot), the food was the hotels redeeming quality. There is no disco on site; you have to walk to one 10 minutes down the road which is MOSQUITO central at night. Night time entertainment was okay if you enjoy dancing. The magic act with the mannequin will blow your mind! *no spoilers* And there were lots of cats which is good if you like cats. Despite my complaints, the resort was okay... but I probably won't be back. #FirstWorldProblems

Amazing staff

Amazing people, beautiful gardens and grounds, best food in Cuba we've had so far, beautiful beach area just upgraded new sand to cover coral. Resort not to big, all buildings surround pool area, so your close to everything!

THE HOTEL , FOOD , AND PEOPLE AT MEMORIES ARE ABOUT THE BEST I HAVE EVER MET. THE CHALLENGE IS THAT CANADIANS HAVE BECOME COMPLAINERS. IT IS NEVER GOING TO BE PERFECT BUT FOR THE PRICE IT IS SIMPLY THE BEST VALUE ON THE GRID. IF YOU LOVE THE BEACH,FOOD,AND A FEW COCKTAILS YOU CAN'T GO WRONG- PEACE N LOVE -ROBERTO

Fantastic Holiday!!

This was our 4th time in Cuba and our 2nd time in Cayo Coco....We loved the Resort. It was the best food we have ever had in Cuba. We had pasta, eggs, your choice of meat, fruit smoothies made in front of you....There were different things at the Buffet. The hotel was clean. Public bathrooms were clean. The pools were clean. They actually had staff in the pool cleaning the walls. Any concerns we had were taken care of quickly. They were few......The front desk safe were very pleasant and helpful. I had to visit the Doctor while I was there and they were very Professional. I would see the Doctor's at the Buffet and they would always ask how I was and stop and chat. You can get Wifi in the lobby bar for 21/2 pesos for an hour. The Staff are very helpful with non tech savvy people like myself!! Music in the lobby bar in pm is really enjoyable. Bring cards to play while you sit there and listen. The Bar staff were very good, especially with our children. Very respectful. The Staff in general were fantastic!! The Cuban people are so wonderful. Rosa and Rydell in the buffet and all their team, plus an older gentleman I can't remember his name. Rydell would have our table ready for us with wine on it when we came for lunch!! Oscar and the Blonde girl (sorry, name escapes me) at the Mojito Stand at the Pool were great!! Oscar was fantastic with the kids. The kids also loved the Cuban version beaver tail. stand by the pool. The gentleman would make different shapes for the girls. All staff at the snack bar, a la cartes, beach bar were great. The Entertainment staff are the best I have seen in Cuba and they are very enthusiastic and great with the kids. We also went to the spa. It is not as fancy as a spa in Canada, but we had a great girl bonding time. While we were there, there were 2 weddings. Both couples said they worked very hard to make it a memorable experience. All the cleaning staff were great and pleasant and very helpful. The girls loved the designs they left on the bed with the towels. You can leave anything out and it won't be touched. The grounds keepers and staff on the beach and security guards are all great. There is even an Iguana named Mario at the Beach. You can feed him and he likes to be patted under the chin. You can go for walks on the beach in each direction. It is very safe. I would go back in a second. There were numerous guests who had been there numerous times. Our kids didn't want to leave. I tipped a lot. They don't expect it but greatly appreciate it. If I was home I would tip and they work very hard for you and deserve the same. The a la cartes were good. The Asian was our favourite. The food was so good at the buffet we didn't care if we used all our aloted times. There were repeat guests who didn't even use them. The red wine is great. The coffee and Tea was great and they make specialty coffees as well that are really good! We had a wonderful holiday at this resort.

Great Time

Was at the resort from Nov 1-5 and had a great time. The staff totally make this resort. Giselle helped us with anything we needed. She was awesome!! The entertainment staff were great!! Shout out to Kenny, Eric, and Amhed who definitely contributed to an excellent time. Pool bar staff Aris and Orlando kept the drinks coming and made the pool a great time!! Friendly caring

Just Nice!!!

Rooms was clean,grounds lush and beautiful,beach rocky due to many storms the food was better than many other resorts in Cuba Oscar makes mean Mojitos,don't bother with the food at the a la carte restaurants all the staff was nice

Creating Memories

This hotel had very friendly staff and especially servers had amazing recall to remember things we liked (ie capacinno at night) and always had it ready for us. Worst part was lack of hot water in hotel rooms

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort.

The resort was fantastic,the grounds are very kept up, the staff was always very courteous and always had a smile. the pools and beaches were great except for the rocks on the shoreline of the beach, wear your rubber shoes. sometimes you may have to change rooms for problems due to water that is always hot, noisy fridge and air conditioner, but we changed rooms without difficulty. the buffet was exceptional and desserts fantastic. Great Resort!

The resort is close to the airport, located on beautiful beaches and sun! The report is smaller so walking around it is easy. The resorts is clean and well kept! An older plane flys over every morning to treat the property for mosquitoes, which definitely helped! The food is Cuban food with a Canadian Charm. Bring your Heinz ketchup for the kiddies! The a la Cartes are great, book them when you get there. Bar's are plentyfull. Games are plenty throughout the day and night. This place has great a [... read more]mazing entertainment staff for day and night. And the kids program is beyond useful and could say many amazing things about Aries and Lulay. Beach sun rises and sunsets are wondrous! We will be back! Definitely great bang for your buck!

Amazing vacation

This resort is amazing! Wonderful vacation. Three of us had great time. Good food variety choices. People there are very nice, helpful and friendly! Jenn helped me upgrade to diamond club, which is appreciate!!!! Beautiful beach I ever seen!!!

Your Next Destination Location

Memories Flamenco is a great place to visit. The entertainment crew is amazing and will keep you entertained all day long. The food was good- don't forget to bring your hot sauces, the water amazing- a little rocky but if you have water shoes your perfect. Will be going again next summer.

You know the resort was bad, when people on the plane were SICK

The quality of food served was horrible, with burnt bacon and rock hard, over cooked meat. They served shrimp that was not de-veined, and the signs for the types of food were all incorrect. Good luck if you have food allergies. Both my wife and I were sick on the way home. We had killed about 15 cockroaches in the room, 2 spiders and a few mosquitoes. There was no quality put into the way the food was cooked. Bacon was in clumps, burnt on the bottom. Every time you ask for coffee, they do [... read more]n't offer you milk, unless you ask for it. WIFI in the lobby was supposed to be included when we purchased the trip, and they wanted to charge us for that. You had to pay extra to use the night club, and they closed early. Night entertainment was poor. The only good thing about the resort was the beach area.

Great Value for Great Price

I had a very pleasant experience on this trip. For the cost of the trip it is well worth it. The resort workers were incredibly friendly, the resort lobby was really beautiful as was the rest of the resort. The pools and beaches were also very beautiful. The resort was lacking in some finishing touches such as having an ample supply of sports equipment (soccer balls, basketballs, etc.) though the facilities they had were beautiful. The food was as good as you would expect. They had a show going  [... read more]on pretty much every evening which kept things interesting. They had a nightclub about a 10 minute walk down the street which wasn't bad. Overall, I was very pleased with the value of the trip/resort. I would recommend this resort to someone else. They workers at the resort are unforgettable and make your stay that much warmer and better. I give this resort experience 4 out of 5 stars.

For the price you just can't beat this place. I've been to similarly rated and priced places in Cuba and Memories Flamenco trumps them all. Two reasons not rated "very-good": - the performers use the gym / fitness centre. Both times I've visited this resort the staff members are using the gym. I understand that the perfor [... read more]mers need to stay fit, but I really don't like working out in a small gym with three shirtless staff members taking up almost all the equipment when I've paid for the privilege. In fact, there wasn't one time I went to the gym where there wasn't a staff member working out... Could have been bad timing. - the food is just Okay. This was a vacation from a two month research trip in Bangladesh and the food was much better in a country with considerably less development. Not well maintained

We went with a 4 month old baby. The grounds were very poorly maintained. The service was not very good - it took a looooong time to get anything we asked for (ie. basic items delivered to our room). Most of the staff was not very welcoming nor pleasant.
