Finally Five star in Cuba

Go for the VIP level and you won't believe u are in Cuba . Outstanding. Newest hotel in Veradero. Take a private taxi i($80) into Havana for day trip ,faster than sitting on tour bus all day. Good beach

Amazing, beautiful, new resort

Great vacation at a new resort. Very modern, food was exceptional, staff were very friendly.Jennifer at trip central recommended this resort and we're so glad she did. The beach was amazing, clean warm, lots of lounges for everyone. I would love to go back in a year, when all the shops are up and running.

Beautiful Resort

We stayed there over the Christmas Holiday. Loved it. New Beautiful resort. Excellent service! People were very nice. Food was good. We had a great time there. I would recommend this resort in Varadero.

Disappointment

Food was horrible and was the same thing the entire week Out of our group of 6, 3 ended up violently ill and ended up needing medical attention. Doctors said it was from either salmonella poisoning or rotten food. At the meat cooking stations they touched the raw meat before giving you your cooked meet with the same utensils. A la carts were worth than the buffet and we were only allowed 2 for the entire week. Beach was ok, no excitement Overall, very dissapointed. Wonderful Relaxing Tim

First time to Varadero. Beautiful hotel, beautiful weather and I cannot wait to see the hotel when everything is completed. Alexei and Jennys were the best employees. I would come back to the hotel just to see them.

A work in progress

We stayed at this beautiful hotel last October . The hotel had only been open a few months and it was still having a few teething problems. We had a wonderful time ,it was quite empty so we had great service from the friendly staff. Few people were on the beach or in the pool which was great . Not all restaurants were open but usually the buffet and one other were each night. I think once all the little problems were ironed out ( locks on balcony doors locked automatically leaving guests strande [... read more]d-:), lack of a welcome package that provided a map of the whole resort and info relevant to the restaurant schedule and activities it would be earn its five star rating. I would certainly go back if I had the opportunity.

Amazing staff and beautiful resort!

Nice location, beautiful resort. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Our 2 bedroom apartment was amazing. Our only complaint was the food could have been a little better, and an adults only section would be great.

Best value for money in Varadero

I did my fair share of research before choosing this hotel and it was worth it. Varadero is chronically maligned on reviews for having run down hotels and bad food, so staying at the newly opened (2013) Melia Marina was a pleasant surprise. It is probably one of the best and most affordable 5-star hotels in the far end of the strip. The 1-bedroom suites are HIGHLY recommended for families who want to be away from the action and the 5-7 minute walk to the main building (10 mins to the beach) is t [... read more]otally reasonable. The food is passable but there is more than enough variety for you to put together a decent plate of the buffet's "greatest hits" each meal. On a global scale I would probably give this resort 4-stars, but since this is such a jewel in landscape of Varadero I had to give the full 5-star review. Stay at this hotel as soon as possible before they raise the rates (and it starts getting run down).

Good Overall

Resort was new and beautiful but already showing wear will stained walls and cracked tiles. Most of the staff with very nice and helpful. Buffet food options didn't change the whole time we were there. Walk to the beach was short. Beach was beautiful.
