Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing

My daughter and I spent a week at this hotel from Nov 30 to Dec 8. This hotel is beautiful and clean. Our room was definitely was well used as we spread out. We slept well in comfortable beds with feather pillows. The food was so good. We tried a few different restaurants including Japanese which we decided was our thing. The buffet definitely has something for everyone. Everything was fresh and the bread selection omgosh! Our favourite place to be was at the 24hr cafe. We had breakfast and c [... read more]offee most mornings here. Best hotdogs and ham and cheese sandwiches. Beach is amazing. It is kept very clean and there are plenty of activities going on all the time. The best part are the cuban people, friendly and fun and very hard working people. Overall this place deserves all the 5 stars ratings it gets.

Melia Las Antillas: Horrible experience

I’ve been to Cuba over 15 times, and this is by far the worst resort I’ve ever stayed at. I strongly recommend not going here. The food was horrendous, and there were cockroaches throughout the resort. I will definitely return to Cuba, but I would never come back to this resort. An absolutely horrible experience.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Incredible resort!

PROS: The rooms were beautiful, modern and very clean! The staff overall were exceptional - friendly and helpful! Both the beach and pool were stunning! Overall the food was very good, but the Indian and Japanese restaurants were EXCEPTIONAL! CONS: Customer service and guest service departments transferred us back and forth when we were looking for supplies at times (water, toilet paper, etc). It would make more sense to have one department that cares for the combined workload

We travelled as a couple along with another couple of friends. It was a long way from airport to the hotel, about 2 hours.The hotel is nice with very well maintained grounds.The room was very clean and lovely decorated every day. The view from our balcony was amazing. The beach was clean, but rocky in the water. There are many pools enough for everyone. All the employees were friendly and helpful. Not much variety of drinks as well, and the coffee had a weird taste like burnt.The staff did their best with what they had. Junior, the most friendly barman in the resort, made us Canchanchara, a traditional Cuban drink and told us the story around it. As Premium class, we got an Exclusive dinner with music show and nice food. Entertainment was pretty light especially at night time, I believe because the resort was not so busy. Overall, for the money we paid it was great. Our butlers, Yosbel and Raciel, made our vacation wonderful. Our designated room had a mouldy smell, but Yosbel managed to give us a better room. Communication with them was flawless via WhatsApp.They made all our a la carte restaurant reservation, send us daily activities schedule, checked on us every day to see if everything is ok. We had a big surprise for my husband birthday; we requested to dine at the Japanese restaurant for the second time because we loved it first time, and Raciel made this possible. There, he decorated the spot with balloons and "Happy birthday" banner, brought us a cake with candle and a bottle of sparkling wine. Thank you guys, you are the best!

This hotel is very centrally situated in Havana within walking distance to the park and the famous Floridita pub. The rooms are spacious with high ceiling and old Spanish era balconies. Like most of the buildings around, the architecture is reminiscent of bygone era. However, renovations are being done all over. The hotel itself is renovated with all basic amenities very well catered. We had a pleasurable stay.

Playa Costa Verde: Beautiful Beach, Friendly, and Cottage Charm

Older, quieter smaller resort with cottage charm. Beautiful beach, snorkeling, beach walks, and sunsets. Friendly atmosphere. Comfortable beds, Wi‑Fi, eggs, ice cream, a‑la‑carte options, snack bar, limited fresh produce, good wine. Great value for solo and mature travelers seeking calm by the water.

Hotel Rancho Luna: Disappointed

Thankfully the staff were wonderful as always. That's all . Conditions were unsatisfactory. Only 2 lukewarm showers in 14 days. Men's washroom at beach was closed the entire trip. Had to go all the way back to room The lobby men's washroom smelled awful. The pool was close to empty and filthy all the time. I could go on. I probably won't return until I hear that conditions improve. Not speaking for my companions but they share the same sentiment..

Sol Cayo Coco: Resort needs work

The best part of this resort is the beach and pool. This resort is on the LOW end of the scale. There is NO cola, pepsi, or coke, just sprite and orange. Mixed drinks are hard to come by on some days. Found a cockroach in the bread at breakfast service and also one in my room. I paid for the superior room with ocean view. Cayo Coco is in the middle of nowhere...you have to drive 1 hour to get to a town. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this resort. This resort needs a MAJOR renovation!

Playa Costa Verde: Awesome Week

Just got back from a week at Playa Costa Verdes. It was my first travelling alone and this was a great place to try it out. I felt safe all the time. The grounds were beautiful. And bit the beach and pool were well kept and so gorgeous. I spent a relaxing week, met some great people and made memories.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Hard to explain

I have been going to this hotel since it was called BLEU COSTA VERDE. I have been here MANY times and made many friends along the way. This is the only time that i was not satisfied with my services. I'm not one to complain because i understand the situation going on in cuba. My room was horrible

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Awesome

The hotel was great. Lots of food to choose from. And a fabulous presentation man named jimmy was the best! The beaches were gorgeous! Whole trip is definitely wonderful get away for any age. :) Would definitely recommend and return in by a later year!

Sol Caribe Beach: Lovely Resort

Room was spacious and clean with mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker. Grounds were well kept. Fabulous beach. Fair selection of food. Not too Much quality entertainment at night. A little bit of distance to walk to Varadero Boulevard.

Sanctuary White Sands: The best hotel I been to in cuba

I Don't usually write reviews, but for this one I had to I went from Dec 2 to the 9th and I kid you not the best hotel I've visited. I've been to Cuba many many times and honestly the last time I went I said that it would be my last time....but I broke my word and booked this place last minute as a birthday Trip. I have to give a special shout out to King in the animation team he made sure my birthday was extra special from the day to night and was always lively and just fun??!. Aime is the go to girl for all your needs she's super sweet and will give you the details on where to go and what to do, plus shes got some dance moves and a beautiful voice(go to karaoke its fun!?)?. Ulises was always checking in making sure my mom and I were good✨️, and Jaun Gabriel just had the sweetest kindest energy?. I know we go on vacation to experience the beautiful weather/scenery and just relax, and yes most resorts this is possible. BUT it really does make all the difference when the people who work there make you feel welcomed and taken care of like it's a second home. If you've never been to Cuba I suggest this place and if you have, but are on the fence DO IT! ...Safe travels for when you do! And I'm looking forward to when I can visit Sanctuary white sands again ?✨️? thank you for everything!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: The Sanctuary was a True Gem

2nd time at this Vardero resort (would return for a 3rd). Fantastic dollar value including the great weather! Sanctuary provided all the needs - beach, pool, service ,foods (at the Ave del Paradiso), drinks (from the coffee to the wine) ,daily events (enjoyed the Air-Brushed tattoos and dancing with live bands at the bar). Our Hotel building manager Noel (great heart and even provided us some help when the room issued beach towel was not to be found) and the daily room service (which was a lot of hard work that should really be appreciated).. Staying on the ground floor level was quite the bonus (less stairs the better). Sanctuary adult beach had variety of daily activities and the personal on the beach ( lifeguards security and servers). Carlos , Oscar (the wiseman of the beach), Eduardo , Naomi (entertainment) Nataly at both pool and the beach bar) and of course Yuni and Roxy Hop on Off bus to Varadero was fun and a must do. Found a great restaurant in town too ("Terraza") Rating a 8.5 out of 10 :>)

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort!!!

Amazing resort, very clean, great people. We stayed on the 6th floor with the ocean view - room was perfect. Food was fine. The animation staff just amazing. Oh, the beach and the ocean are incredible!!!

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia Varadero

One of the better hotels in Varadero. Staff was for the most part friendly and accomodating. The grounds are clean and attractive and one of the reasons I choose this resort. No problems with my room--- the plumbing worked fine, lots of hot water. There were no power outages or water shortages while I was there (Dec 4th to 9th). The cafeteria served typical resort buffet food that grows repetitive after a few days but there's something for most tastes. I liked that there was always lots o [... read more]f cutlery on all the tables (unlike many Cuban resorts) and there was always available seating. The waiters were quite attentive. Overall my stay was pleasant.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Grand Aston Varadero Dec 2-9/25

Sorry this is going to be a roses and thorns review. I’ll start with the roses… Hotel itself is beautiful, one of the nicest rooms I’ve stayed in during 15+ trips. Could use some deep cleaning ie doors dirty around knobs from people touching etc…..but overall very nice. Staff were amazing in all restaurants, dining rooms, bars etc. my friend had a VIP room and his concierge Jenny was amazing. Most guest were over 50 I would say, so not a real party resort but didn’t really cater to old [... read more]er guest either. Now the thorns… there are no water activities offered - no paddle boats, catamarans etc…… Beach chairs are nasty. Best way to sit on them is resting your butt btwn the crack of the back and seat. Been back 4 days and my back still hurts after just a few days on them. Most were broken and you needed work around to get them to sit up. Beach is pretty rocky - not much they can do about that but there is also garbage at the beach area. Guest were cleaning some up but The entertainment team during the day offer water aerobics and occasionally pool games which mainly consist of dance contest. Suggest they visit some other resorts to see the level and variety of activities. Very little shade areas at the pool. Maybe, since crowd is older a small book exchange, maybe bingo at the pool in the afternoon. This was my friends first time to Cuba and he was very disappointed. Thankfully we had brought some small games with us and they were our main entertainment. Suggest you pass on the night time shows. We attended three nights and two were audience participation which consist of dance contest. The host seem to have little idea of what to do next and relied on audience suggestions. Some entertainment at lobby bar at night - violin / sax they were both worth the watch during pre dinner drink. While you don’t go to Cuba for the food…..it was very bland and most meat was over cooked. The grill at the sports bar opened for lunch at 1 and were out of food by 1:10. There is no source of food down by the beach so you have to go to main building. Would be great if they moved bbq down to the area adjacent to the beach bar. Restaurants - Skip the Japanese, Cuban was ok, 1887- wasn’t worth cost, Italian was edible. I love Cuba and will definitely go back but not to Grand Aston. Nice rooms don’t make up for all the things they need to work on at the resort.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful Property and Beach

Overall we had an enjoyable stay here. The property itself is beautiful and well laid out. The beach was beautiful with warm and clear water. No seaweed. Mosquitoes very minimal as they spray often. Rooms could have been better. Mattresses were not overly great, bathroom had a strong sewer odour, and there were intermittent periods without water which was frustrating. Melia Jardines del Rey: Was what we expected

Arriving on an early flight was disappointing to wait until 4 pm to get in the room and they told us that there were no towels and pillow case yet. During the week they didn’t change the towels or sheets and there were no washcloths! Luckily we brought our own and extra towel. The food was good for Cuban standards. Always a surprise what they had or had not. Lunch and diner was almost identical. The beach is amazing. Some places with rocks at the beginning but very shallow. We could walk 100 met [... read more]ers and still not waste deep. The people at the hotel were extremely friendly and not to get a tip!! About tips: us were told to change our Canadian money for Cuban pesos. The exchange rate on Google is not correct. It said for 100 CAD we would get 1700-1800 Cuban pesos but at the airport we got 8000 and at the hotel exchange bank even 8500. But they prefer still American or Canadian (coins). So bring Us$1 or CAD $1 or $2. Even a vendor at the street during a tour gave back the pesos, he didn’t wanted it. They can buy groceries with US and CAD. And during a tour at a restaurant we only could pay in USD for a coffee. So good to know. And some days at the hotel there was no water for a few hours and when we had water the pressure was low. Because it was low season there was no problem to get a chair at the beach or the pool. Are we going back? Maybe. Guess we cannot go elsewhere cheaper.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: About par for the course in Cuba

Every time we choose to go to Cuba, we swear it is the last time. But undoubtedly, we go back because of the price point. This resort lacks in many respects. Some of the issues may be seasonal (the mosquitos at the beach devoured us - mostly because there is a jungle right behind the beach - so bring bug spray if you choose this resort). The food situation was remarkably poorer than usual. There were little to no fruits available. All the dairy and proteins look suspect. I get it, their supply c [... read more]hain limitations are evident. The Beach - this was a bit of a disappontment. You hope that the lack of food and amenities is offset by a beautiful beach. That is not the case. Most of the water has sharp rocks that you have to bypass in order to get to a slightly clearer area. Essentially no running into the water. Then there is the aforementioned mosquitos - you can't see them, but they pack a punch - at least 50-60 bites that I still have healing now several days back. Also the beach is sort of off to the side of the resort, not like where you walk from the resort to beach. Also, maybe seasonal, but there is not lunch restaurant open to go from the beach. We had to come all the way back to the buffet for a bite to eat at lunch. We ended up just asking for a burger at the pool bar to take to the beach. The service is great, everyone is friendly and willing to help out with a smile - I guess this is the one thing they have under their control. The entertainment is sparse, so don't expect a show at night. They have some activities for kids and not much else. There is no "club" to go to dance, mostly just tables in a terrace area where you can sit and drink. The rooms are decent, and they are well attended to. The water in the sink and shower is a murky yellow. Make sure you have bottled water on the counter to brush your teeth. Also in our particular room the water would not drain quickly, probably because of the sand that people shower off. I'm not sure. We did enjoy great weather which can be a saving grace. Enjoy!
