El Dorado Seaside Suites: Good resort with incredible oceanfront views
The resort is very nice and has lots of great amenities but a few things to be aware of. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, ocean front view and infinity pool right off the balcony are awesome! Staff and service were excellent. Food was very good. Entertainment was also good. The grounds are beautiful and very well developed. Great snorkelling right off the resort. Excellent fitness facilities and fitness programs throughout the day, also great to have 24hr fitness room access.[... read more] The spa services were very nice and reasonably priced.
It is a pretty large complex and lots of walking to get to places. The layout of the resort is a bit strange with no breakfast or supper available in the El Dorado Seaside buildings. The El Dorado lobby building is a long distance from where the rooms are. Not a problem if you like walking and there were good paths for an early morning run. They did have golf cart shuttles running regularly so easy options to get around.
The only other things not so great was the beach and main pool at the El Dorado side. Not a very large beach area and very rocky, no real good areas on beach for lounging. Loungers that were there were are on quite a slope and not comfortable as a result. The main pool was not great for access and they played quite loud music all day long. Really wasn't a problem for us though as we spent most of our days at the beach and pools on the Sensimar side - much nicer developed beach on that side.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Unbelievable experience
The resort was top notch and service was incredible. We have a child with severe allergies and were sceptical of taking him to an all inclusive hotel. Our fears were quickly erased when we arrived. Between the concierge, the sous chef (who followed us to every restaurant), the wait staff and each restaurants' head chef we were completely put at ease and could focus on the vacation. A big thank you to the Azul Fives team for giving us a safe and enjoyable break.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Great accommodations
Accommodations - spacious, well appointed rooms. Beds were very comfortable. Swimmable balconies were a fun surprise.
Dining - lots of options with good assortment. Food quality good but would not classify this as gourmet.
Pool - immaculate with a well stocked swim up bar.
Grounds - well kept, lush and very attractive
Beaches - well kept but limited swimming due to rocks and coral. Sandy beach was quite a distance away. Would recommend that the hotel provide direct shuttle to the bea[... read more]ch.
Advertising - a bit misleading as it appeared that services were all at the El Dorado. some where only available at the sister property, Sensimar.
Activities - need more water sports on site, e,g. Hobie Cats, kayaks, jet skis, etc.
Service - Beach Butler provided excellent service as did the beach bar maids. Rooms were cleaned well but supplies not always refilled. EACH employee, no matter what their status greeted us with a genuine smile. Great customer service training. We felt most welcome.

El Dorado Royale: Great resort if you are booked in a Premium junior suite
First of all this is a great resort with great restaurants. But booking a Premium suite gets you VIP treatment. Important if you don't like waiting 35-45 minutes every time you want to eat a meal. When you book a Premium junior juccazzi suite with a swim up pool outside your patio door with two lounge chairs and a deck with two chairs and a table it makes for a fantastic vacation. You are on the ground floor facing the ocean (30 seconds away - but you still need to get up between 6a and 6:30a if[... read more] you want two lounge chairs under a thatched umbrella or hut on the beach). Just put your towells on the chairs, sit down and watch the spectacular sunrise at 7:15am or so. Then go back to the room enjoy the sun on the deck waiting for room service to deliver breakfast.
While sitting on the deck enjoy champagne and OJ delivered to you (same guy brings you drinks either to the deck or to the beach all day.) It helps if you bring a wad of $1 dollar bills to hand out as tips. We gave out $2 tips with each delivery. Well worth the expense to not have to chase someone for drinks.
Between 2p and 3p the Ice Cream Man brings you ice cream in a cup. It's great.
When you arrive go to the conceirge hut just outside your room and book your dinners at the restaurant of you choice. Show up at the time of your reservation, give your room number and you're at your table in 60 seconds. No waiting for Premium guests at dinner time. No reservations for lunch so you're on your own.
Food is great at JoJos, sit on swings while having a drink. Rincon Mexicano was disappointing because it is gourmet and not Cdn or American style fast food Mexican. D'Italia Villa was excellent. Cocotal (world wide cuisine) was mixed - my beef was tender but the pork was tough. We were there for a four day weekend so we didn't have time to try La Isla, Kampal, the Santa Fe Grill or the Fuentes where the chef erxplains how they cooked each course. It's a two and a half hour experience.
The beach has nice sand and not crowded because there are limited chairs (which is OK because most people were by the many pools or their swim up pools) My wife on the otherhand, disagrees with me. You pay a lot of money to be there and she believes there should be more chairs available for guests who want to be on the beach. That said there is another beach about a five minute walk from our room that looked like it had a lot more chairs than ours.
Our travel agent warned us that you really can't go into the water because of the rocks and rough waves. There are large black sand bags (looks like beached whales) and cement blocks to break the surf (looks like the German fortifications at Normandy). After awhile you get used to it and besides, you're lying on the lounge chairs facing the sun with your eyes closed. Our pool was 30 seconds a way ... other pools are minutes away situated around the resort if you want to cool off in the water.
In the room it takes getting used to a window wall looking into the bathroom and shower area. We had a frosted glass toilette door, but I heard some had no door or clear gas ... not a great feature of the room.
We found our room clean, maid cleaned the room daily. Probably helps that we gave her a $5US tip every day. But resort not very accomadating with late check outs. Our return Air Canada vacation flight to Toronto was at 7pm. But we had to vacate the room at noon. So we stayed at the beach and changed at the spa where you get a locker while you shower. Luggage is picked up at noon. So it is a minor inconvience. But the later flight gave us an extra day in the sun. So five days and four nights made for a great long weekend getaway (Thurs - Mon).
Would we go back to the resort. Probably not because we couldn't swim in the ocean. It's a lot of money to be limited to the pool. But if the ocean is not your thing ... I think it is well worth a visit. We had an excellent, romantic long weekend with great service, more drinks than I can remember, great food and a lot of laughs. That is what a vacation is all about.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Great Service at Azul Sensatori
We stayed here for our honeymoon last week and we really loved this resort. The rooms were nice and clean and we loved the pools on the property. The staff were friendly and attentive. They were great to talk to and whenever we needed something they were glad to help.
We tried almost all the restaurants here and they were all great. We also loved the food and being able to walk to the beach right outside our hotel was nice. We would love to be here again!

El Dorado Royale: El Dorado Royale is one of the best Adults Only properties!
Our second stay at this property did not disappoint, we are still so impressed with the service, their attention to detail, the quality of the food & the overall comfort of this beautiful resort that we may even go back for a third. The staff is friendly, efficient, discreet & very hard working! This chain is doing lots of things right & their staff obviously take pride in their work because of it. Much of the produce served in the restaurants is grown in organic greenhouses on the property & it is delicious! The a la carte restaurants are a pleasure to dine in & for the most part there is no need for reservations nor are there line ups. There are bicycles available, a well equipped gym, spa facilities, Starbucks, beautiful meandering walking paths & stunning grounds.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Oceans Eleven!
We spent the last 9 days at the Azul Fives Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. This resort offers a different concept of All Inclusive. There is no massive lobby or buffet. There is a gorgeous "square " that host entertainment nightly. Numerous a la carte restaurants that you don't need reservations for, offer excellent, gourmet meals. There are 2 restaurants that do offer small buffets for breakfast and lunch.
The resort is built around a jungle/cenote and the wildlife is abundant. We saw Spi[... read more]der monkeys every day, a wild pig, alligators and numerous other creatures!
The beach is beautiful and you can walk for miles either way.
The staff were fantastic and the grounds and buildings immaculate.
We have stayed in many large resorts on the Mayan Riviera, and this is now our favourite.
My husband and I had our wedding at Azul Sensatori on January 31st. We felt very well taken care of there. Two of the coordinators-Gaby and Gabby-were absolutely wonderful. They made us feel so important, even though it seemed like they had at least one wedding a day, and they anticipated our needs. I felt like we were in good hands and anything we needed would be taken care of. They're very good at their jobs. The Sky Deck where we were married was stunning and we had our reception at plaza zav[... read more]as which was perfect for our small wedding (27 people). The resort was the perfect side too for what we needed. All of our friends and family had their own space but it was also easy to run into each other and have meals together. Service everywhere was outstanding. We felt very cared for here and our entire party had wonderful experiences with many different staff members

El Dorado Maroma: Wonderful
We just returned from one week at the El Dorado Maroma. It was amazing! The staff were sincerely kind and friendly. They made an effort to remember your name. The restaurants were very good and not busy. The beach was beautiful and we loved the canopied "beds on the beach". We enjoyed using the paddle boards, kayaks and participating in the yoga classes. Selection Riviera Cancun: Great getaway!
The location is spectacular, the grounds and facilities are meticulously maintained. The hotel itself was wonderful, the staff was generally very helpful, most spoke English and were eager to please. Our only beef was that we were confirmed for a swim-up room with two beds, neither of which turned out to be the case. When we complained, were were initially told nothing could be done but, after persisting, we did get the second bed. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great experience!
Grounds - overall feel of the resort:
We loved how lush the grounds were - lots of vegetation like trees and plants which gave nice shade and a sense of being in 'the great outdoors' rather than a concrete jungle...Many options for pools and shallow parts for the kids to play in, but we spent most of our time on the gorgeous beach where there was white, soft sand, and not too busy.
Beach:
There was a drop from shallow to deep water almost right away (and then it got more shallow again) in [... read more]the swimming area so we had to right there beside our small kids when they ran to the water to dip their feet or wash their hands.
Staff:
Most of the staff were very friendly, but some more than others (smoothie lady was crusty with me - but then very friendly with the next customer who spoke Spanish).
Food:
Buffet was a bit limited in terms of size and options and that's where we ate for the most part because of the kids (slow service at other restaurants - very slow in the thai restaurant and my mom only got served her food when everyone else was done, at the sushi place). But it was yummy at least. And I liked eating the fresh-made tacos at almost every meal anyway.
Entertainment:
Night performances started pretty late (9:30pm) but our kids loved dancing to the music so we stayed up late as a holiday exception. No extravagant shows/performers, and a much smaller entertainment area than we're used to seeing at other resorts (no stage and big audience area - they'd just set up a few chairs in the area around the lobby/shops). But it was fine, just different.
Room:
We had a 1-bdrm jacuzzi suite and it was huge! We appreciated the sliding doors between kitchen/living room area and bedroom/bath area so the kids could nap on the one side while we walked around on the other, hung out on the porch area etc. The pull-out couch was super uncomfortable as a bed but did the trick when we needed it. The humidity caused a urine-like smell in the kitchen area (at least I think that was the cause?!) but we didn't spend much time in that area so I didn't stress about it.
All in all we loved our experience - first trip with the family (kids ages 2 and 4, and we brought the grandparents!) - and we'd return to this area and this resort specifically, in a heartbeat.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Fantastic Resort!!
This was the first out of country trip my husband and I have been on in 20yrs and 5 months. We booked a trip for our 20th wedding anniversary. The resort was more then we imagined. It was stunning, and everyone was so friendly. We were sad to leave b/c we know we may never again see the amazing people we met. And I mean the people that worked there. Nickelodeon Hotel Punta Cana: Great resort for families with small children!
Very clean, amazing resort for families with children under age 10. Staff is so friendly and accommodating! Best resort for children's activities but would say it is geared for younger children at Nick Place and the water park. Food was great with lots of options and no hassle of having to make reservations. Loved that! They aim to please here and much of the meals are considered part of the excitement and experience so if you're someone who likes to eat in a hurry only stick to the buffet. Selection Riviera Cancun: Great family experience
We are a family of five: 2 adults and 3 kids (1-5-8 y/o). The resort is very kid friendly. Lots of activities for all. Kids club was friendly, fun, clean and active. Kids loved the programming and nightly activities. Supervised care starts at 4 y/o. Babies and small kids can go to activities in the morning with their caregivers. They can also use the kid space and play with toys. The water park/splash pad for children is good for hours of fun. Convenient to have a pizza restaurant right next to [... read more]it so kids can have a quick lunch or snack after playing.
The rooms are ok. Adult bed was not so comfortable and the older kids slept on a pull out couch which was ok for kids but wouldn't have worked for adults. Very uncomfortable. The baby had a crib and they supplied a bottle warmer and bottle sterilizer which was great. The balcony had a nice bench with pillow to lounge outside. our hot tub did not fill all the way due to a dysfunctional drain.
The pools and beaches are amazing. Some Beach toys are kept in the little cabanas so no need to bring them.
The food was great. Restaurants never too full to get a seat. Some places get a bit busy for breakfast. We loved the Mexican restaurant for breakfast.
The staff is amazing. All very friendly, helpful, smiling and abundant in numbers. The grounds are kept impeccably and are perfect for strolling around barefoot after a pool or beach visit.
I highly recommend this resort to families with children. If you have back issues, you might want to ask for a seperate mattress to put on the floor. The beds were the only negative in my opinion .
Great experience!
