Paradisus Playa del Carmen: 5 Star Hospitality

We had a fantastic holiday here. The staff was so friendly from the cleaners to the dance instructors. We felt pampered all week. The restaurants were great...especially the civiche at the Peruvian restaurant. The music was fabulous... lots of live entertainment. The beach suffered from high winds and seaweed but I’m sure we will have better luck next time. Only issue all week was the very long wait for our shuttle to the hotel. Melia Nassau Beach Resort: It was OK!

The furnitures were dated and the night life was not really attractive! The hotel has really modern and beautiful environment but as I said the furniture are really dated. The was good specially at restaurants but it is hard to reserve specially for the first day. The beach was perfect. Some waitresses are very impolite some are really good. All in all it was not bad! 3 star!

Paradisus Punta Cana: Overall good resort, beautiful grounds

I can understand why this resort gets mixed reviews after visiting for a week, HOWEVER, overall it is a very nice resort with the most beautiful grounds we have ever seen at an all inclusive. This was our 8th all inclusive from various islands in the Caribbean, so lots to compare too. (Really only takes about 10-15 minutes to get from beach to lobby). We had a stroller with us, so we would often take the outer (smoother) walkway around the resort (especially when baby was sleeping) as all other paths are cobblestone. FOOD I can honestly say that anyone that complains about the food is just not being rational. Of course you are in a third world country so 63 the food is not going to be as you used to in your home country. But, we all found the food great. For breakfast you will want to eat at Gabi Beach Buffet. We always had full plates of food. You can get your eggs any way you like with the cook, plenty of bacon, sausage, hash browns, fruit, cereal, pastries, cheese, and other items. Loved the fried plantain and grilled tomatoes. For lunch, Naos buffet is better than Gabi. We often found so much food we liked that we would go back to the table with 2 plates. So many salads to chose from. (someone complained earlier about the salads and that you cant trust them, I don't know why they said that). All the food is kept in an indoor room, and it is kept quite cool, so we never had an issue with anything. Lunch also included a variety of cooked fish and meats, vegetables, fruit, cheese, deli meat, you could also get a pasta made at the pasta station. There was also hot dogs, and hamburgers too. Loved the onion rings and calamari! THE RESTAURANTS Feugo - not too bad. Probably our least favourite. Had the Mofungo and it was quite good, also sushi and maki were just okay. Bana- very good Japanese meal. We had a lot of fun at the table and the meats, salmon and shrimp were cooked to perfection. Mole - our meals were just okay, but the nacho chips they bring out at the start were great. Vento - one of our favourites. Menu selection was great. Osso Bucco was amazing. The Grill - Juan provided great service. Really nice selection on the appetizer bar. We ordered the family platter for 2 and it was great. We did not eat at Aqua due to the other reviews about the food being the worst on the resort, and the mosquitos. Passion - we splurged for a date night here. It was one of the best meals we have ever had anywhere in the world. Service was spectacular, and the food was incredible. You have to have an open mind, and familiar with fine dining to eat here though. The 8 course meal was $80 US per person and we did the wine pairing for $40 US per person. (Well worth the wine pairing) We are lucky friends of ours arrived at the resort a few days before us so they were able to pre-book all the restaurants for us at a reasonable time since we had a baby. It did seem hard to make reservations if you don't pre-book. One of my complaints is that I had emailed the resort 10 days before arrival to reserve and they never got back to me even after a follow up email. POOLS/BEACH We enjoyed most days at the main pool near the bar. The pool was great, nice and big, and lots of beds. We met the most amazing bar tender ARGENIS who took care of us all week. What an outstanding human being! Never let our drinks get empty. The pool only had a few moments of loudness, so it was mostly on the quieter side compared to some other resorts we have been too. One day we reserved a cabana on the beach for $35 US which included service, and a bottle of champagne. We found this well worth it since we had a baby and it was a lovely spot for him to nap. We brought over some loungers and it was a wonderful relaxing day. The beach itself was very nice, clear, warm, and clean. They come by and clean up the seaweed. There are a lot of vendors that walk by on the beach trying to sell you things, or excursions, but we kindly told them we weren't interested and they don't bother you. The loungers on the beach are not good. Probably in the worst shape out of any resort we've been too. The resort needs to upgrade these. Of course there are separate areas on the beach for royal service and reserve which both have nicer beds/loungers with padding. ROOMS This was one of our biggest disappointments. Like I said, we did not upgrade so we just had a regular room. The layout didn't work so great since we have a 11 month old who is crawling and there are 2 stairs in the room that go down to a sitting area. Made it a bit challenging with him. The beds were just okay, and the other furnishings are outdated. The room had a "cold" feel to it, not tropical or welcoming at all. Im sure the royal service and reserve rooms are nicer, but it would be good if the resort upgraded the regular rooms. On a positive note, we had an issue with the AC and the toilet and they sent someone to fix both within 30 minutes. We were in building 5 which was the absolute best spot for pool access, and only a 2 minute walk to the beach. Room was also not very clean. SERVICE We were slightly disappointed with the service at the Gabi buffet, and some of the restaurants. We had good service at Naos for lunc, shout out to Maria. It's too bad the service staff don't pay more attention as we ALWAYS tip at EVERY meal, and a lot of them missed out on what could have been a higher tip. Room maid service was great for us (but we tip high on the first day for the maid the fridge attendant then continue to tip throughout the week) Goes A LONG way. Aside from Argenis, we found the service to be mediocore throughout the resort. OTHER NOTES/TIPS - upon your arrival there will be a "concierge" in white who will come to talk to you and tell you they are there for you to answer any of your questions etc. But, they are just trying to get you to come to the time share breakfast at another resort. Kindly tell them you are not interested and they will leave you alone. - They claim to be an Eco Resort so there are no straws with drinks - There are a lot of costly "upgrades" at this resort. Ie. higher shelf alcohols (back bar stuff like Patron, coronas etc. drink packages, room service is $5 US per visit, cabanas on the beach) - If you're going to drink red wine go for the Cab Sauv, the Merlot tastes like grape juice. Overall, we liked the resort, but didn't see much difference between this resort which compared to some lower priced resorts we've been too.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Beautiful 4 star resort

Clean. Friendly staff. Good service. Lots of fun activities to do. The food is good. Location is nice. Geared to Families and middle aged to older people. Close to airport and Marina. Short bus ride to town or 9 dollar taxi ride. Very safe area. Felt secure and safe.

The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana: Peaceful, tranquil paradise

Beautiful hotel,grounds and beach. Plenty of options for dining Rooms are spacious and well appointed Excellent service Beach is clean and sandy, great for swimming Concierge service is efficient and great for making reservations

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Melia Caribe Beach Resort

The resort is very well maintained, probably on of the nicest resorts I've ever been too. The rooms were nice and service was good. Beach and pool was nice also. Food was pretty good , no complaints.if there was any downfall was the lack of entertainment at the beach and pool. Pretty laid back. They had shows every night, i would have liked to see more live music. Overall it was a very very nice resort. You also can use the facilities of the Melia punta cana beach resort, which is nice.

Melody Maker Cancun: Fantastic!!

We loved our stay at Melody Maker.We were treated like royalty.They catered to our every need.Very clean resort,the food was great and our room was very clean and stylish.The only thing we can complain about is that all the bars serving drinks would close at 12:00 am.Other then that it was a great stay at Melody Maker.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Never disappoints!

We have been to this resort several times. A great place for families. Grounds and pools are beautiful. Staff are friendly and service is great. Food is acceptable but the room was outdated. Bathtub was old and needed work.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Great resort

The beach was great. Food terrific. Very tasty. One of the servers, Eva, in the haddad buffet at breakfast was outstanding. Reallly friendly and always remembered what we wanted . Super friendly and cheerful. She works way too hard. Room was amazing. Only complaint was that the evening buffet was really busy with kids and coffee was hard to come by.

Melia Braco Village: Outstanding Resort

I was planning to go to DR but just couldn’t find a resort that wowed me. I hooked up random with Marcia on trip Central and she worked with us . Finally I told her so don’t want a big resort or high rise. She said I have the place for you. We looked at Melia Braco Village. Bingo !! it was exactly what we were looking for. The resort is Spectacular. A big hug to our friends, Dean Paul, Alex, Eric, Dwight and Abigail kicked my butt on days I couldn’t eat another thing we did Water Aerobics, bike in water spinning. These 2 were so inspirational and friendly professional! Lovely, Lovely. The food was exceptional, the restaurants quaint and clean and comfortable. Every night was a different event at the street and experience. We were there Super Bowl. What a great job they did. I felt like I was on the Red Carpet. They do not go cheap on anything at this resort. They make you feel right at home. The food is not skimping on anything. To all the people at the front office all the way to our beach area, pool guys, cleaners, sweepers, DJ , bartenders. Thank you Thank you. My holiday was exceptional because the care and love you put into ur work believe me it shows. You never feel like u are bothering the staff. Zel Cozumel: Back for a 7th year!

* A+ for the welcoming staff (includes the main dining room; bar services; room attendants) - a B+ for the front desk (helpful as long a you did not have a major problem) * Upgrades since our last visit (January 2018) are obvious. The resort is now painted in a neutral beige/white (rather than the 1980s themed bright yellow!) Tower bathroom in room are mainly now walk-in showers - very nice with overhead shower fixture. * Glad to have a dresser placed in our tower room (needed for a two w [... read more]eek stay) but many people did NOT have a place to put their clothing except for a small closet. * Areas are well maintained and CLEAN - except for the two bathrooms (by the pool + downstairs by the restaurants). For only two stalls used all day … they need more bathrooms. The attendants worked to keep them clean but when used toilet paper is requested to be put into a basket (not down the toilet) the smell is overpowering. Needs to be emptied on an hourly basis if that is their request. * We are not 'foodies' so we ate at the regular restaurant buffet for our meals. Good choices, but could be hotter. * Wages are low, so we always tip generously. $3USD at breakfast and lunch; $5 at dinner. (If we want our room cleaned - fresh towels every other day we tip $5 and usually some fun school supplies/stickers/treats etc. - we just leave the sign on the door 'Do Not Disturb' if not needing cleaning). The employees work non-stop and are so pleasant to guests - saddened to see zero gratuity left at numerous tables. * As two late 50s adults, we definitely prefer the Tower rooms (8th floor or higher) and which is connected to the adult only pool and bar. Elevator service is prompt, although the stairways are handy for lower floors. * As we are very familiar with Cozumel, we purchase two bicycles in town for our two weeks (not at the Mega) and are able to safely explore the 5km route into town, and zip around the backroads of town with no issues. (Nice to get away from the Tourists!) * Our usual travel agent was not aware that a NEW tax came into effect on January 1, 2019 at all Cozumel hotels. (I think that it is an environmental tax which amounts to about 24 pesos per day = our two weeks cost approximately $18USD.) Only mentioning this as it was charged when we were checking in - you may wonder 'what is going on as I've totally paid for my holiday' when they ask for your credit card and charge ???pesos)

Melody Maker Cancun: Our interpretation of Heaven

First and foremost we would like to thank Michelle Turco at Trip Central for guiding us in the right direction. We were thinking of going to Cuba, Jamaica, Dominican, Bahamas, Barbados and Mexico. My wife and I did our research for a month or so on these destinations and our needs. Based on our research and Michelle's knowledge we choose the Melody Maker in Cancun, Mexico. The ocean w [... read more]as crystal clear, the beach had white sand, which was groomed every morning. The workers at the resort were always pleasant. They were constantly cleaning, manicuring all the gardens, several security guards monitoring the grounds and several lifeguards on duty every day.The food was amazing, many choices, breakfast for me, was the best. Although everyone was pleasant, a special shoutout to Jonathan at the pool side bar, Abraham at the booth for excursions, and the gentleman who helped us check in, also the two girls at the "buffet" reception desk, always a friendly greeting. We are already planning to return. I've read some posts about The Melody Maker that were not always positive and yes we had some issues. For instance our fridge wasn't stocked on a couple of occasions, the doors leading to the rooms slam shut and they had light construction going on to improve the resort, "big whippy ding dong", it is a 5-star resort in our our opinion, and everything does not go as planned, people need to relax "roll with punches" as we did. Bottom line, the food, music, beach, sand ,water, drinks, safety, room (and view from it),hotel personnel, were all top notch and you can't ask for anything more. It met and exceeded our expectations and will return.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Lovely Resort!

My mother and I traveled to the La Perla at the beginning of February for a week, and we had a fabulous time. We chose a Royal Service Swim Up room and this was the best possible scenario, as the RS pool is heated! I think I spent my entire week in the pool! Drinks were plentiful and the food was excellent throughout the resort. We ate at the Grill, Vento, Bana, La Palapa, the Grill and Mole. All were very good! The weather was perfect as well. Beautiful grounds and pool setting with restaurants close to beach. clean and large rooms ,comfy pillows/ bed beach soft sand very clear water and warm of course excellent a la cart food, good service with a shout out to Willis at pool bar. however getting a coffee at lunch was not easy but a minor detail

Paradisus Punta Cana: Relaxing week at the Paradisus

Returned from a very good week at the Paradisus with 3 other couples.We had no issues to stress about from the time we checked in, until the time we left as check in and out was quick and easy.The resort is quite large, so tram rides are sometimes a good option for getting around. There were no issues with getting chairs at either the beach or around the pool. The staff was all very friendly, especially Willis and the rest of the pool area bartenders and pool waiters. All a la carte restaurant s were very good, with the Mediterranean restaurant Ventos and the The Grille steakhouse being the best.The rooms are a good size and were cleaned and restocked on time every day. They are showing a little bit of age, but we did not spend much time in them any way.The ocean had clear water and soft, clean beaches with next to no seaweed on them. You could walk for miles in either direction.Our only minor disappointment was the buffet breakfast food. The bacon was very scarce and was very under cooked. The sausage was also slightly under cooked and was basically mini hot dogs.There were a lot of fresh fruits, cereals, pancakes and a egg cooking station in the buffet,so finding food was not a problem.All 4 couples said that they would return to the resort and recommend it to friends.

Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Good

Beautiful beach. Beautiful resort. Ocean view = 5th floor to 9th floor room, we got the 5th floor. :/ Food in general is good, something for everyone. Starbucks on site, reasonable resort level prices for Starbucks. (There is free coffee at the main dining restaurant) Good children's pool with beach entry. Beach is nice, slightly above average for Caribbean islands. Free travel to nearby luxury island - don't fall for people trying to sell you a boat trip. Room had wet carpet when we ar [... read more]rived, not sure what that was about. We let it dry and didn't complain. Bring cash to tip, while not necessary, tipping will get you a smile with service. Travel to airport included. Can walk along beach to Baha Mar if casinos are your thing or want to try different restaurants.

Nice &clean Good service The ground is green and lot of space to relax The room is cleaning at lease 2 times a days.the restaurants with reasonable food but the service is excellent all the time from my experiences

The hotel is elegant and has all the amenities one would expect at a world class four star property. I he rooms are well appointed and th ocean views are spectacular. All rooms have balconies. The adult swim up bar pool is a happy place with a DJ that keeps everything moving to great beats. For the kids there is a kids club and a pool for families. The night shows are well done and appeal to everyone. The water sport are amazing. Canoes, kayaks are complimentary and wave runners are available 1 [... read more]00 feet along the beach. My daughter and I loved the SeaDoos and raced over surf and visited two other islands. Onsite Majestic tours has an array of trips off site and the biggest hit is swimming with the pigs and sharks in Exuma. This is a vacation for all when her your single, a couple or a family. Whether you're 8 or 80. It's better in the Bahamas!

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Beautiful beach

We have just returned from a one week stay at the Melia Punta Cana beach. I would recommend staying on the 2nd floor if possible. We had an issue with our original room and it was rectified quickly by Paula. The rooms are ok. Beds are hard. Food was pretty good. The Italian is very good. The beach was awesome. The drinks weren’t very good. They need to offer better quality liquor. Oftentimes the requested drink was not made. This may be due to the language barrier as many who work there don’ [... read more]t speak any English. I suggest boning up on your Spanish. All and all a great week. Beach 10/10 and resort 7/10

Paradisus Cancun: An OK hotel

The hotel itself is beautiful and very well maintained. The rooms are clean and spacious. There are lots of palapas on the beach and by the pool if you want some shade. The biggest disappointment is the food in the buffet. NOTHING was ever remotely warm so all food was cold. There was a lot of food but not many cooked vegetables. Most of the food was very bland and salt and pepper were not on the table. You had to ask for it and then they put it on your food. While there I met several people who also complained about the food and said that it was not up to the standard of a 4+ hotel.
