Punta Peninsula Varadero: Main resort closed again!

Last year we arrived to learn that the main part of the resort was closed, limiting eating locations, pools, bars and activities due to restoration work following the hurricane. We had no prior warning and were therefore disappointed. This year we were warned and made the best of the limited amenities. We love the staff at this resort, it feels like we are visiting family when we go and this trip was no exception. The rooms on the island are more spacious so no complaints. We surveyed the work in the main lobby and it’s coming along nicely so hopefully it can reopen soon!

Hotel Los Cactus: 5 th time

All good...rooms being renovated, beach was as beautiful as we’ve ever seen. A hidden gem.....don’t miss out on it. Close to town of Varadaro.Go to the Beetles Bar, relax at Calle 62. The staff are the BEST!

Paradisus Varadero: Great Daycare!

Our almost 2 yo had a blast in the Kids Zone b/c of Maya! The quality of the food was as inconsistent as the service. Either too much salt or no seasoning and not enough selection in the buffet. The a la carte options were nothing special. Bring CAD currency & be prepared to for their "tourist" exchange rate, which does not favour tourists at all. Another total turn off. Our Sunwing flight couldn't take off for our night flight, so we were bussed back to Memories, which was way lower end then Paradisus. Save your $$$ & do NOT fly with Sunwing.

Club Kawama: Great Resort

This resort is an older resort and it has it's challenges, but you cannot beat the staff for their kindness and helpfulness. It was our 9th time and they treat us like family. Try it with an open mind and you will be surprised and probably fall in love with it.

Sol Varadero Beach: Very clean. Stayed at the Coral section.

Very clean. Food well prepared. Beautiful beach. Hotel room nice . Full bathroom. Staff very pleasant. Nice Coffee bar. No single supplement. Nightly entertainment and entertainers very talented. Great sound system. Check with the West Jet representative for the 1 1/2 day trip to Trinidad, Cuinefuegous, Santa Clara and the 3 hour hike into the Mountain jungle. Well worth the $135.00 CUC.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Perfect name Sun Beach

Great get a way, if your looking for fun in the sun .Excellent beach with a beach bar close by.Food was pleasantly surprizeing .Service could be improved on but the price was good and you should expect what you pay for.Friendly atmosphere and great central location to the town

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Many had food poisoning, poor lighting

Spent 7 days from November 27th-dec4th rooms are clean staff nice, small and nice grounds . My friend and I got very sick, I spoke to many people during our stay that also were sick with vomiting and diarrhea. Approx 35 people I personally spoke with experience the same. The lighting at night was very bad I had to use my phone to light my way back to my room

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Resort showing its age

Hotel was showing its age. Had been a guest of this same hotel 5 years ago, quality of the hotel, care and service was not the same. Many elevator were not operational and got stuck in one which then was deemed out of service.

Playa Vista Azul: Great get away

Hotel was spotless. Room was great. A La Carte’s were good. Coffee shop was great. Pools and beach were good. Buffet was good for breakfast. Beach BBQ was great for lunch. Beach buffet was good. Lobby at night was fun. Synchronized swimmers in the evening was fantastic.

Playa Vista Azul: Lovely Resort

Everything was excellent, beautiful grounds, pools, rooms. If you are a beach lover, it is a long walk to the sand.The dining was better than most Cuban resorts. The staff were not as friendly and accomidating as we have been used to from our other 16 times in Cuba, and that was our biggest shock/disappointment. This was my first time at this resort and we are pool lovers, so would highly recommend for fellow pool lovers.

Palma Real: Unsatisfied :(

To the manager and owner of Allegro Palma Real resort, As my friend and I were online looking for good deals for vacations in Cuba, we happened to choose yours thinking it was a nice resort for a fair price. After spending $600 for a week stay at your resort, I have to say it was anything less than satisfactory. For starters, my friend and I had to deal with a room that was practically falling apart. The door would barely open and close, lamps were burnt out and not replaced, plus a broken [... read more] shower that had no hot water all week. After asking several times for it to be fixed, the problem was never solved. Then on top of all this, there were bed bugs. I am now covered head to toe in multiple bed bug bites that are red, swollen, and immensely itchy. The food was absolutely terrible, and I am embarrassed that such a low quality of food would be served to people. Me and my friend got very sick anytime we ate at the buffet or A La Carte’s. This forced us to go spend more money in town just to get a decent meal. Lets not forget that we are exchanging Canadian money for CUC – so we are already losing money on the exchange as well. Most of the bathrooms were under renovations during our stay, to the point where the female bathroom on the main floor became a co-ed bathroom. There was rarely any toilet paper, and the bathrooms were not maintained at all. Not only did we ask your staff several times to accommodate by at least replacing the burnt-out light, no one seemed to care about our wellbeing and satisfaction whatsoever. Arriving home late Wednesday night (December 12, 2018), the bed bug bites had become increasingly more inflamed and itchy. I now have to go to extreme measures at home to make sure the bed bugs don’t spread in my own home. I have pictures to prove the bed bug bites and will be seeing my doctor as well. I hope I am making myself perfectly clear, I certainly did not pay all of this money to experience a vacation like this one. Never have I wanted to leave a resort more in my life. The only good part of this resort was the beach, which ironically wasn't even near the resort. Coincidence? I am never one to complain but I have to stress my true disappointment in my stay here and would appreciate a refund for the inconvenience. I will never be back to this resort, and you should consider closing it down until all problems are fixed and you can provide your guests with a higher standard of service, accommodation, and respect.

Melia Las Americas: Fantastic

Great resort. Could use a little more nite activities but other than that , perfect Good variety in restaurants . Lots to do in the beach. We’re upgraded at mi extra charge which was fantastic. Very helpful

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Amazing people, tired interiors

The people who work at the resort are amazing. The beach is perfect. If you are the low maintenance sort this resort will be adequate. The interior of the rooms and most of the hotel itself is tired and worn. Paint is peeling in a lot of places and my room smelled a bit moldy and musty. The general standard of clean is not as high as in North America.

Blau Varadero: Great return visit

The hotel is very easy to find your way around.The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are excellent. It is easy to make reservations for the a la carte. The food is good . The beach is beautiful with lots of loungers and the pool is very nice .

Melia Marina Varadero: Good value.

The resort is well-maintained and very clean. Staff is very helpful. While the resort is not on the beach, it is easy to get to with golf cart transportation. There could be a greater variety of food at the buffet but what was there was satisfactory,

Playa Vista Azul: Very nice resort!

Beautiful modern hotel.Large,clean rooms.A la carte restaurants were good..did not have to make reservations.Staff was exceptional as always seems to be the case in Cuba.Hotel set in a cliff with a small beach on one side and a larger beach on the other...beach was nice but not as nice as other areas I have been to on Cuba.Had a great beach restaurant that out out a lunch buffet and was open 24 hrs for food.Shows were good especially the water ballet in the pool...they were excellent.My only com [... read more]plaint is that the paths are not lit well enough at night...especially when walking along the beach and cliff side..could not see well at all.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Overall a good Resort

Just spent the weekend at this resort. The resort needs some renovations. I would not consider this resort as luxury. Buffet food is OK. A la Carte Restaurant, food is not that great. I would recommend this hotel as a 5 star luxury but a 4.5 instead simply because rooms and swim out pools needs to be upgraded.

Upgrade to the Level is a must! Sol Palmeras: Fantastic bungalows

Staff was extremely friendly. Clean hotel. Wonderful beach. Had a bungalow and Nains always went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Angel welcomed us at the International restaurant and was a fantastic server. Pepe made the best drinks. A special thank you to a great friend and lovely lady, Odarmis for all the special treatment. Can't wait to stay there again.

Playa Vista Azul: Wonderful resort

We stayed in the main building over the lobby. We had a beautiful ocean view room with a large balcony. It was super clean and beautifully decorated. It exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurants were satisfactory in that we were always able to find something we enjoyed eating. There was a good variety. This resort is good value for what you are paying. I was a little disappointed in the coffee. Cappacinos looked delicious but lacked the full bod [... read more]y flavor. I think regular beans are used instead of espresso beans. We certainly enjoyed our vacation and would go to this resort again.
