Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: First time at Daiquiri

We've been to Cuba about 30 times now, we found this resort to be a very good buy for your travel dollar. We opted for the Superior room (#3149) which is located in the Camaquay Villa section which is located close to the buffet and the beach. It was very modern and kept very clean by the cleaning staff. The beds aren't great but It came with a free room safe, flat screen tv and we always had hot water. The beach has nice fine sand with a gradual walk into the weed free ocean, you can enjoy  [... read more]long walks along the beach. There is a snack shack close to the beach but we didn't use that as we usually prefer a buffet. I went in and it appeared to be a mini version of the buffet. The food was excellent with fish, beef and pork cooked to your specifications on open grills. Lots of great veggies and tons of fruit. Bring your appetite as the desserts are wonderful but the table wines we found were harsh. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good. Don't forget to try the fried yucca with butter. We went during the rainy season in September and expectantly we had some rain which passed by quickly allowing us to enjoy each day at the beach...no idea about the pools as we didn't go there. Our only complaint was the mosquitos, they were relentless little buggers even though the resort fogged twice a day. It may have something to do with the rainy season but more likely to the swampy areas of the entire area. Take some repellant with you and enjoy this place.

Melia Cayo Coco: Good but not close to a 5 star

The size of the resort is perfect. The food was great and the beach amazing BUT the rooms are very dated. Our air conditioning failed on more than one occasion and needed repairing..we were not able to have one shower without losing water and when it was on you were lucky to get the soap off.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Very good resort.

Had fun, food was in a way typical Cuban all inclusive buffie, we did not bother with the alacart so can not comment on them. Only two bad things about our room. The maid did not replenish the mini fringe items, so on leaving all that there was in it was one can of beer. There was a coffe maker, coffee and sugar but no coffee whitener. The resort is also very big / spread out. So walking unless you are fit can be a problem. This was fixed by having golf cart type transport you can call to [... read more] get from your room to the lobby and back. The various buildings are 3 floors with no elevators. So for some that may be a challenge.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Wonderful resort

Very big resort with a gorgeous beach. Lots of friendly staff and and amazing service! I love this resort especially because there are a lot of activities available so you will never be bored. Definitely considered this a 5 star hotel if the food was better. Only con was the food but the a la carte was not so bad. Recommend this hotel forsure!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice stay

Hello, our trip was very nice. As usual staff at the resort were very nice, pleasant, funny and with good English (reception desk especially). Food was amazing and the staff at the buffet restoran was exceptional. Room was very clean and air conditioning worked great. Gardens around hotel are really nice and well kept. Hotel Playa Paraiso: friendly atmosphere

Our stay at pestana was remarkably great ,having clean rooms are my priority so I was pleased .The beach was above average .The staff were very helpful and friendly .Meals was to our satisfaction.The entertainment was excellent .My wife and my three children had a blast ,so picking pestana I certainly do it again !

Melia Costa Rey: Relaxing vacation

This was our first experience vacationing in Cuba. We stayed at the Pullman Hotel, Cayo Coco. The hotel is clean and staff very friendly and, accommodating. I was not pleased with the arrangements in securing your place on the beach. Beach does not open till 9am. There are not enough cabanas/ shaded seating available on the beach. Therefore, guests were getting to the beach as early as 8am to secure their seats. Security stayed on the beach till 9am to ensure you did not leave chair [... read more]s unattended before beach opened. Later in the week management changed the time to 6am, my guest to detour guests from securing their chairs in advanced. So by 8am on that morning no shaded area was available on the beach. Also, only one handicapped cabana available. So if your not there at 5:30am chances are you are not going to have one.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Average

The hotel itself was huge- the staff were friendly. The room was tidy and we were lucky to be in the second bungalow as other guests in bungalows 16 and further were not receiving towel replacements as they would run out after the first few bungalows. The beach was a disaster - you need water shoes to be able to walk into the water as it was filled with rocks. They also have their sewage system running right behind the beach area so If you decided you wanted to lay a bit further away to avoid he [... read more]avy rock areas you would be bombarded with the constant smell of sewage water.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: The best resort ever

The resort is absolutely beautiful. The amenities amazing, but the best part of all THE PEOPLE!!! Cuban people is amazing, I have no words to express my gratitude and my desire to comeback as soon as possible

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Resort!

The resort is close to the airport, located on beautiful beaches and sun! The report is smaller so walking around it is easy. The resorts is clean and well kept! An older plane flys over every morning to treat the property for mosquitoes, which definitely helped! The food is Cuban food with a Canadian Charm. Bring your Heinz ketchup for the kiddies! Melia Jardines del Rey: Melia Rules

The hotel was lovely. The best part of this resort were the meals. The buffet offered delicious food with exceptional service. We were very impressed every day and every night. The only downfall was the location of the beach. We had to walk to the right or to the left of the beach to get a spot that did not have rocks. All the staff were incredibly friendly. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Family Vacation

1- Landing at resort early to get all of our 7 days was not what took place. Check in took till 6.30pm after landing at 11.30am. This could been nice, but pool closes at 6.00pm,and when you are trying for clarification English seems limited. There is only one speed when it gets busy, slowwww! Due to travel to airport in Toronto, had been awake 24 hrs, which was not the resorts problem, but coming into resort, rooms should be ready, not 6hrs later! Al-Carte bookings.....we tried, for Italian, but booked till 4 days after our 7 day visit ?? 4- Pool very dirty, not cleaned, had algae growing in the tiles, but closed everyday at 6.00pm till 9.00 am next morning. Beach huts close up at 6.00Pm also. 5- 5 Ft out beach has lot of Coral, if you walk towards other resort gets better. 6- Staff were great, but look very discontent, very little smiles, very strained, it seemed very under staffed! 7- Outside services for day trips, asked about going to Moron, told way to far, and told nothing to see. 8- Shopping, very disappointing ! Went to the "Market" recommended by the staff, everything thing about the Peso's , only to find everything at the airport for half the price ! The souvenirs fell apart before we were on the plane. 9- Money exchange, 100.00 Canadian, for 74.00 CUP, by the time you have exchange and tax, definitely not any deals, buying a Cuban cigar in Cuba, is more expensive then buying same cigar in Canada. 10- No Microwave in rooms. Kids wanted popcorn at night, not available. Check in/ Check out not a smooth transaction. Limited to one or two people for bus load coming in, rooms not ready, not organized. Seems very understaffed at times. Rooms took many hours to get completed, bartenders overwhelmed at times, wait times at snack bar up to an hour for plate of fries. 11- Weather was fantastic, for the kids the evening show was great. Day care, is available, wouldn't use that again. Kids pool was full of sand drained and left empty? Resort is beautiful, goat keeps lawn very well trimmed, A/C in rooms runs great, drinks are fantastic and never ending ! Music at pool very loud and repetitive.....boom,,, boom,,, boom ! 12- Babies crib not safe, held together by a nail sitting on the floor. For a resort that was built in 2013, it requires a lot of upkeep, tiles broken around tub, doors don't close, sink plugs not working. 13- You are assigned pool towels, beware! If you leave them at the pool, and someone takes yours, you are on the hook for 20.00CUP, which is $27.00 CAD, and believe me, those towels are not worth $27.00! 14- Great Location!! +++ 18 kms to resort, There in 20 mins! We have travelled to Mexico over the years, and wanted to try somewhere new. We have tried the new, now going back to the old, Mexico( Cancun)(Mayan Riviera) was by far 2 times the service, accommodations , staff , site seeing & meals. The staff try as hard as they can, but you have a feeling that they are always looking over their shoulder looking to see if someone is watching them. It was an experience, we spent time as a family, which in itself was fantastic, weather was beautiful, there was an opportunity to be great, resort failed!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Mixed feelings

We recently stayed at pestana in cayo coco and unfortunately there were more down sides then up sides . We traveled as a group of 7 . We arrived at the resort around 11am and we're told our rooms wouldn't be ready until 4pm which then later turned into 5pm cause the people leaving wanted to stay longer in their rooms . Traveling with an infant and toddler this was a HUGE inconvenience. Once we got our rooms and settled in we started feeling a bit more relaxed. The food was better then I expected but we noticed the pig that was served was served 3 nights in a row which made my husband very sick . Very under staffed and had to wait far to long for drinks at the bars in which all the slushy machines were juice and had to have ice in a glass with them . Often the buffet had no dishes or clean tables we found ourselves cleaning tables off ourselves to be able to eat and there was no ac or fans in the buffet area so it was very hot to eat in . The entertainment was decent but to spaced out for the kids and adult shows . The staff was nice and helpful . The room maids were more then understand but there was always a shortage of towels and bed sheets were never changed through the week . The pool was nice and we had no issue finding a chair but the hours of the pool an pool bar were unfortunate and closed to early. We were glad to be leaving and heading home and unfortunately won't be returning to pestana and do not recommend the resort to family or friends . Melia Jardines del Rey: Excellent

The meals were beyond excellent. Many people who had visited Cuba had told us that the food was mediocre, but this resort offered food beyond our expectations. Our accommodations were good. The beach was beautiful but you had to walk a little to the left or to the right to avoid the rocky part.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Desperately needs more palapa shades!

The rooms were standard. The beach was great! This resort needs a major investment in umbrella shades by the pool and at the beach. There is literally no shade to hide under from the blistering sun. Customer service needs major improvement as requests seemed to get passed on from one employee to the next without ever being resolved. I requested a new bed mattress and never received one. I had to make do with a bed that could break the back of an elderly person. Reception seemed incapable of sim [... read more]ple requests in the morning to order a taxi for the evening. The people who did do their jobs such as the gardeners, the pizza makers, the bar tenders and the wait staff in the dining hall were exemplary. The food was repetitive and generally unpalatable with the exception of pizza at the beach which was great! The grounds of this resort was well tended and lush. It is the most attractive part of this resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great getaway!

Memories Caribe was a really great first Cuban trip! The hotel was clean, rooms were large, and the staff was so nice. The service we received made us feel special as they were all friendly and accommodating. The food was okay but the fantastic wait staff made everything better. When we left, they played their music for us, gave us drinks and waved good-bye as the bus drove off. When we picked up other travellers from the neighbouring resorts, we didn't see their staff doing that for their gue [... read more]sts leaving. Because of this positive experience, I would definitely go again!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Amazing vacation

This resort is amazing! Wonderful vacation. Three of us had great time. Good food variety choices. People there are very nice, helpful and friendly! Jenn helped me upgrade to diamond club, which is appreciate!!!! Beautiful beach I ever seen!!!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Pestana Paradise

My family and I just got back from a one week stay at Pestana Cayo Coco. The hotel was nice and the grounds were fairly clean. The staff at Pestana were wonderful and extremely friendly. We really enjoyed their hospitality. The food was average at the buffet, but we really enjoyed the ala cart restaurants - especially the Italian one. The beach at the resort was stunning and the sand was so white. It was looking at a postcard of a tropical paradise. Overall, the resort was very nice and we would definitely go back again!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Excellent Resort

I went in mid-August 2016 with 2 friends and we had an excellent time. The resort was very clean and the staff were amazing with lots of activity going on. I would go back and highly recommend staying here.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Stunning

Initially they sent us to another persons room, so they upgraded us to junior suite. Weather was perfect. It was the furthest hotel from the airport, but very worth it. It was only about 50 minutes. Very new. The food was better than other hotels. The beach isn't very nice but the water was, so that didn't matter. Crystal clear water. They weren't any hotels on either sides, so that was nice. The staff were fast friendly. Staying here again for sure.
