Hotel, surroundings, grounds and service was a high class.
Very clean and nice. Staff was very helpful.
The reason not to give 5 star is that the beach was very narrow. Unfortunately this happen few years ago due to a tropical storm. Hopefully we will go again.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great Resort
We enjoyed 2 weeks at the Melia Jardines del Ray Mar/Apr '16. From the lobby front desk to the restaurants/bars the staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was good. The beach was nice to walk. We spent every day at the beach and came prepared with water shoes to walk over the coral. Resort was clean.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Just OK
Great beach - beach huts could use some work. Rooms are tired. Hot water is hit and miss. Restaurants are good; buffet is so so. Staff do their best with what they have to work with. Sat next to a coffee stain in the lobby for 5 days.

Starfish Cayo Largo: A paradise resort!
Flew with Cubana which was unfortunately 2 hours delayed. Flight was straightforward tho, please note that there's no TV on the flight so have your iPads/tablets for entertaining the little ones. My 2 year old was asleep on my lap and the flight attendants luckily gave me a whole aisle to myself, on both flights (even tho the flight back to Toronto was almost full). Resort is only 6-8 mins away from the airport. Check-in was fine but please note to line-up in the appropriate line (one for check-[... read more]in and one for check-out as the staff will ask you to move if you happen to be in the wrong line).
Beach of this resort is the BEST in Cayo Largo out of all the 3-5 resorts there. The food was good and resort is dated but everything is functional. Had hot water and AC was working. We didn't have a balcony tho but we have a quadruple setting (2 kids, 2 adults). No complaints. Paraiso and Sirena beaches are only a few minutes away for 2CUC each way. We also visited the Turtles, good info. However, 2 years ago we travelled to Cayo Largo in November and we were able to release the baby turtles back to the ocean. So if you'd rather have that kind of experience, go travel in the Fall.
Overall, what made this trip really amazing is the staff! We've been everywhere in Cuba (Varadero many times, Holguin, Cayo Santa Maria, Camaguey and twice in Cayo Largo - Playa Blanca last time) and by far this resort has the nicest, friendliest staff ever! They always greet you with a warm Hola and go out of their way to make you feel "at home." This resort that seems to have a very active animation team with activities all throughout the day and night!!!
We really had a fabulous time here and would really like to go back again!

Melia Tropical: Too Big for my taste
We travelled with four other couples, we requested to be close together, we were not. We all requested king size beds, two couples had twins in their rooms which made them waste the next day changing rooms. When you are only there for 7 days losing day moving is not cool. Pool and ocean were a good 10 - 15 minute walk from our room. So too big for me. Food wise, no complaints it was amazing!

Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Great Beach, Good value!
We found the resort to be friendly, clean, lovely grounds and the beach just fabulous! The only thing that annoyed us was the roped off area on the beach for the "level" guests. There was no one there so we sat down and were ushered off by security. It was embarrassing and left us with a feeling of being a lower class. We sat there not knowing it was a specially reserved area. That's a bit much don't you think? Anyways, overall, I'd recommend this resort. The food and the bar service was great!

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Beautiful spot
Recently went here for a wedding. It was lovely spot and my only complaint would be that the beach is covered in seaweed and ruins that tropical white sand getaway.
Food was amazing and most of the frozen drinks were very tasty!

Paradisus Cancun: Perfect Mexican vacation
Beautiful resort right on the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. This was my first trip to a southern destination with my boyfriend and we were nervous about what to expect. The service was impeccable - all of the resort staff were very friendly and helpful. I rolled my ankle on our second day at the resort and within minutes there were two resort members there to make sure I was okay and to look at my ankle.
Being our first time dowm south, we were particularly nervous about the food as we h[... read more]ad heard horror stories about other resorts. We ate at three of the on site restaurants during our stay and the buffet. The market grill was amazing and our favourite experience but be prepared to leave full! We also went to the market grill for pizzas at lunch - delicious! The blue agave was also a good experience experience - the tacos were so delicious! Mole was the third restaurant we visited and that war the only disappointment we had. The food selection just wasn't our type of menu. Most nights we visited the buffet for supper. There was always a great assortment of food and everything was delicious. Even the pickiest of eaters can find something to eat here!
During our stay we spent most of our days on the beach with regular visits to the pool for a swim. The beach was so beautiful - it will leave you speechless. The white sand was never too hot on your feet and the turquoise ocean was great to swim in as long as you don't mind some waves. On top of all this, the view was just stunning. Every morning we went to the beach it was as if I had forgotten how beautiful it was the day before and was just as breathtaken with it the next morning. As soon as you walk out of the resort doors to the beach, you are wowed. It's amazing to see water that blue. There was plenty of space and nice beach huts you could put your chairs under. Each beach hut had a table where you could put your drinks while you lounge in the sun. The beach staff were incredibly attentive and there was plenty of water available for order while you were on the beach. The staff would also bring you blender drinks so you never had to leave your beach chair! The majority of the blender drinks we had were Delicious! The bartenders make a great blue Hawaii, pina colada and Bahama mama. If you prefer, you can also pay money to lay on a beach bed. We didn't do this during our stay. We found the beach chairs comfortable.
There were showers at the beach level then foot showers at the top of the stairs which was particularly handy for us because we regularly switched from beach to pool. At the top of the stairs you could also visit the sunset grill if you felt like a light lunch or afternoon snack. The pools were a very well laid out so that it wasn't overly crowded and you could have your own space to swim. The pool was also a great temperature and the chemicals weren't too potent. Taking a dip in the pool after spending hours in the sun was one of our favourite ways to cool off - always so refreshing.
There were also bathrooms near the sunset grill which is handy if you plan to spend a lot of time on the beach - not a far walk. There is a second set of bathrooms near the hut at the bottom of the resort entrance facing the beach which is equally close. At this hut you can book activities for your trip and also get fresh beach towels. The big purple towels were think and a perfect size.
We stayed in a room on the lagoon side and a couple we went with had a room on the ocean view side. Neither me, nor my boyfriend is an earlier riser so this suited us much better than an ocean view. The sun rises on the ocean and sets on the lagoon side. We got to watch the sunset every night before dinner while our friends who are morning people watched the sun rise every morning. Something to keep in mind when you book.
Our room itself was beautiful and very clean. The floors and walls are all marble. The bathroom shower has a rainfall style shower head and everything else in the room was very modern. The bathroom came complete with all the usual toiletries for guests but also with cotton swabs and some other handy items which was nice. We had a king bed which was very comfortable and the air conditioner did a great job of keeping the room at a comfortable sleeping temperature. The cleaning staff kept our room very clean each day, even taking the initiative to organize our items on the sink a little neater which was much appreciated. On our sixth night, our air conditioner stopped working. The resort staff was very helpful and quickly moved us to a new room in the same tower when this occurred. While we weren't able to get another king bed, the double beds were much preferable to our broken air conditioner.
Although the resort states you don't need to tip, we tipped the cleaners each day, and each of our servers including drink service on the beach. We didn't tip large amounts. Just a dollar or two each meal depending on the level of service, a dollar or two each morning for the cleaners, and a dollar every few drinks on the beach. We found this made a big difference in our service as observed to people around us who weren't tipping. The staff were more attentive to us.
Overall, we had an amazing first destination vacation experience. We loved cancun and parsdisus. We are already thinking about planning a trip there next year!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very Relaxing
The hotel was a great spot for our getaway. Pool and beach were both very nice. Just looking to relax, it was the perfect spot. Food is good and we really enjoyed our a la cartes and our lunches at the Rock House. The staff at these spots were outstanding. Poolside, beach bar and lobby staff also did a great job. Room was nice but I thought our cleaning staff could have done a little better.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort
This was a very nice place to stay , friendly staff , great food . Drinks not made consistently throughout the resort and room was a little musty yet still very clean , some of the stores on the resorts couldnt sell things for days because they couldn't make small change , seemed odd to us when we were told we could go to the bank in town and get ones and threes. Would definitely return next year

Accommodations were modern and very clean. Food was excellent but lineups at buffet grills were slow. The beach was disappointing if you enjoy walking in the water but the pools made
