Grand Memories Varadero: Clean rooms a great service

Rooms were a 3 star but kept clean. Food at buffet was the same every day and often cold. Staff and service was amazing! Loved the quiet pool by building 11. Lobby bar had good drinks. Spa offered a great massage but the pedicure wasnt good.

Playa Vista Azul: Fun stay

Great atmosphere, awesome and friendly staff - overall an enjoyable stay - my family and I had a great week with my daughters wedding at the resort - also enjoyed the beach with the children. The excursions were enjoyed by all.

Los Delfines: The hotel is in a great location!!Sea,beach, sand beautiful!!!

The coffee was great the food at the hotel terrible!! The hotel does the best with what it has, the staff nice & friendly!!Internet withdrawal because it's not available everywhere due to government control!!It is very unlikely that I will return to Cuba for a vacation unless the country opens up to Capitolism & frees the ppl!!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Wonderful people!!

Resort was nice. Beach was great! Employees were fantastic! Always willing to help as much as they could and were not obviously looking for tips. Our room was in the back of the resort overlooking a public road and construction. When I complained, they moved us to ocean view on our second day. Rooms were large and bathroom was new but could have been cleaner.Food was ok. There was always something you could eat. The chicken and the rice were usually good. Coffees were amazing. Muthu Playa Varadero: Good family resort

The food is okay..., the beach is beautiful, rooms are not as great! But overall this resort we liked it. In Cuba whatever you go the food is not as good, but we didn’t go for that! We had a good time, beautiful weather and beach that’s what we enjoy the most!

Melia Las Antillas: great vacation destination

The grounds were nice, the rooms were clean. Most of the staff were friendly, some need to smile more! Drinks were good, lots of choices. The buffet food wasn't always hot. The pool was refreshing and the beach was clean. My biggest complaint would be the airline delays both heading out and returning flights. Too many hours sitting in airports. Nothing to do with the resort.

Memories Jibacoa: A Great Place!!

The Jibacoa is a great place, a bit tired but small, beautifully located at the base of a green mountain facing the ocean. The sea is very good for snorkeling but with the coral reef in close the swimming is less good. There is a large but not very deep pool. Great dining facilities. We had four special dinners in our week there. The grounds are very tidy, the stray animals not fed at the request of the new manager, the staff as friendly and helpful as possible. We had a wonderful week.

Roc Barlovento: Wonderful time all around!!!

We had a great time at Roc Barlovento— everything was wonderful. A nice property, the food was great for Cuba. I regret having to say that last bit about Cuban food. Enough continental and local items on the menu. Like I said, the hotel was nice and not too big. Convenient, being within walking distance to all that Varadero has to offer. Want to go to back. Thanks for your recommendation, and professionalism. Garnet.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Decent resort!

Rooms were pretty clean. Food was ok. Tourists were old. Water is hard to come by. Hammerhead sharks are on the shore despite popular belief. Beach is extraordinary. Tip the pool boy or you’ll be sorry.

Melia Las Antillas: This was a great resort!

I found majority of the staff to be absolutely awesome (specifically awesome were Havier, Orlando, Tatiana, Miley and Omelet lady-sorry didn'tget her name-these individuals ALWAYS went above and beyond). The rooms were spacious and clean to sparkle every day, the grounds and beach were immaculate. The food was underwhelming due to the fact the buffet food was always cold, even when they would top up the trays, it was still cold. The only good thing about food at the buffets were the pasta, gr [... read more]ill and omelet stations, were it was prepared for you as you waited so guaranteed to be hot! Over all my experience was so good, even the cold food didn't make my experience a bad one.

Melia Las Antillas: Amazing Resort

First time visiting Cuba. The Melia Las Antilles was recommended and did not disappoint. The staff is welcoming, the rooms clean and the food was great. I would definitely return. Sunwing Flight was delayed almost 5 hours going to Cuba from Toronto and 2 hours coming back next time I would pack bug repellent the sand fleas loved me

Los Delfines: Resort good beach practices not so good.

We were at this resort for 10 nights – From Oct 30 to Nov 9 2018. This was the second time at this resort, first time was better, approx 1 year ago. Food, room and drinks about the same, great location within Varadero accept the following: Entertainment staff really did very little except boosts their own egos. Resort store, you have to watch the girl behind the counter, charged us 3 CUC more per bottle of rum than the proper price. Only found out much later what the real price was suppose t [... read more]o be. Not all of the bartenders at the beach side bar are very friendly. Noticed some of them do not listen too well and if you correct them (if they got you the wrong drink) they do not like it and they let you know. There are a lot of locals (have no resort bands) at the resort that use the loungers and umbrellas at the beach, all they do is tip the security guards, many of them in the pool / snack bar eating and drinking for free. I also noticed that they will try and use the dining room, a little more difficult to get in. We paying customers are paying for all these under the table activities. I would not return to this resort. We have been almost 2 dozen times in Varadero. Usually go twice a year and have been to almost a dozen different resorts. We know a number of locals who do not work at the resorts and they claim it is not the same as it once was in Varadero. Now more about how much the Cubans can extract from the tourist. I will still go to Cuba, great people, great beaches etc., just make sure you check out prices before buying anything and avoid the Cubans who long forgot that they are in the customer service business.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Nice Resort

Grounds are great , Service is Excellent , Rooms are clean but not great ( broken T.V. No soap dish in the shower , No Telephone ,etc.) Great entertainment every day. This is as much as I can tell you.

Playa Caleta: Need some cleaning resort

Hotel needs lots of work Importantly in cleanibg their employee areas. Everytime you pass by the pantry or other employee area specially in the dining areas . you can smell something rotten. Maybe theyre immune to the smell already Elevator we're on the 6th floor to go down we have to take stair to 5th floor. And to go up if youre on L2 you need to go down to L1 then go up A la carte dinner. Good luck booking Line up to grill main restaurant takes forever

Hotel Blau Las Morlas Varadero Beach: Resort

Overall food was ok but had chicken from restaurant that had gone bad that made me ill!! Food at beach restaurant is left out uncovered allowing birds to feast in it when unattended!! Would advise only eating from indoor buffet

Melia Las Antillas: Amazing Resort’s

We Celebrate our 43 years our Wedding Anniversary, and this Hotel was Massing what they do with us first we go to Romantic Restaurant for Free Lobster Dinner, we just Not believe that our Welcome for us we Never going to Forget this all week so many Suppressed, we going back again soon we just like to Thank you the Hotel and our Travel agent Angela so much and the Trip Centre

Melia Marina Varadero: Great resort

We just got back from our trip and it just seemed to short. We had a great time at Melia Marina. Everyone was great and willing to serve us. The food in Cuba resorts are pretty much the same. We were talking to a server and they are taught we Canadians are fussy eaters... Not too much salt or spice or etc. So if the food is blah it's because of the complainers. This is a great resort and we do plan on coming back.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Tired and run down

This hotel is a 2 star at best. Rooms were disgusting with wet plaster on the walls (hiding stains and mould) and the furniture looked like it had been pulled out of a dumpster. 4 of 6 in our group got sick, as did multiple other guests we talked to. The beach and weather was great, and the people were nice - that’s the most positive I can be about my experience there. The beach in Punta Cana is as good or better - go there instead!

Muthu Playa Varadero: Amazing resort

Had a great time people and staff were great at the resort.but I wasn't happy with sunwing they forgot to pick me up for an excursion that I paid for and also forgot to pick me up from the resort to bring me back to the airport not happy with sunwing at all...

Barcelo Solymar: Beach! Beach! Beach! Location! Location! Location!

I always stay at the Solymar when vacationing in Varadero. The resort itself is just OK. It has many of the same issues common to to all resorts in Cuba. Lack of beach towels, food is not great but OK, rooms are OK, service..well everything works on Cuban time etc,etc. That being said the Solymar by far occupies the best part of the beach and is in the best location, walking distance to Varadero. BTW I don't walk but you can. It is not an overly large resort which I prefer so it's easy to  [... read more]get around and only a 5 min walk to the beach from main building. I've stay at Grand Memories once as a friend wanted swim up bar and although that resort did exceed the Solymar in size and grandeur I would not go back. It was terrible location and the beach was small not to mention minimum 20 min walk. I was so disappointed. Everything depends on what you want out of Cuba. For me it's beach and nightlife. And for those of you who constantly complain about the food, go off the resort, so many great places to eat. The Solymar also has a large number of repeat visitors, constantly running into familiar people.
