Lovely week in Holguin. The bus drive to the resort is approximately 2 hours. When we arrived at the resort around midnight they had a buffet waiting for us at the snack bar. The resort and the staff are all new (3 months) the staff were all pleasant and happy to help. Tips and gifts to staff were much appreciated. The was always something to eat despite supply issues in Cuba. I would say value for the money. It’s Cuba 🇨🇺 enjoy the culture and the beautiful atmosphere.

Playa Vista Azul: Exceeded expectation

My hubby and I booked a ‘mini vacay’ for 4 days from February 27th to March 3rd/23. We just needed a moment away together~ to regain peace. I had no expectations going to Playa Vista Azul in Varadero~ but what we experienced was an amazing, beautiful resort nestled on stunning teal waters. The staff are outstanding from our check-in, to the waitstaff at Neptune, and the incredibly skilled bartenders. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Another great trip to Memories Caribe

Just got back from my 3rd trip to Memories Caribe since Nov. Great weather and staff .. beach is 5/5 and there is lots of room and shade for everyone. Food was fine for me and I only had a few small bug bites … that only seems to be a problem for some ! Can’t wait to return … the staff were all amazing !!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Some issues….

The grounds were well kept and the food is what you expect from Cuba however I do have a few concerns. The in room safe did not work, the rain shower head was a great idea however it leaked out the top and had damaged the plaster. The vent for the A/C was covered in mold (really bad). The fridge in the room was NEVER stocked and you had to beg for bottles of water. The draft taps hardly never worked and there was no option for canned beer in lieu. The cleaning staff didn’t sweep the floors, [... read more] they simply made the beds. The gym opened at 9 AM, a little late for my liking considering breakfast was served til 10 AM. Stores on site close way to early. The staff did do a great job keeping guests entertained. My GF and I made the best of it but in this current financial climate I can see people being upset with the cost of a vacation and the quality you receive in return.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Our experience

The hotel and the place are amazing, however, the food and restaurants are below expectations, basic foods like cheese, ice cream, fries, etc, not available. The food was tasteless. The entire place is very nice and very clean, the view is amazing but you have to walk to the beech, not like all the other resorts around

Hotel Camino del Mar: try it do not have high expectations

2 weeks WARNING.... resort falsely advertised as run by government Cuban no sponsor Melia pulled out still using name MELIA 3r world country no excuse for cleanliness reusing plastic glasses..(cig.hole lipstick wet gritty) we used our to go cups always after this GROSS!!!! Melia Internacional: Extremely Disappointing. Do not recommend.

We had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience during our one-week stay at the Melia Internacional. We made our concerns known to the staff, but the issues persisted, and we were ultimately unable to enjoy our vacation. This was not the "modern resort with premium amenities" advertised. Our recommendation to anyone considering staying at this hotel would be to consider another option. Check-in - My husband and I travelled with our adult son. I have a medical condition and use a  [... read more]rollator because I tire easily when walking and experience balance issues. I explained this during check-in and requested a centrally located room (given the large size of the resort) and asked that our room be close to our son's room (so he could assist us as needed). We were given a room at one of the furthest ends of the resort, with a tub I could not safely get into. Our son's room was located all the way on the other side of the resort (and had a walk-in shower). After making several calls and going back and forth to the front desk, we were finally told we could stay in our son's room, and our son was assigned a room a few doors away from us. It was a long, frustrating and physically exhausting process, which took so much time away from our first day. Room - The condition and cleanliness of our room was disgusting. The hotel claims to follow "very strict programs of hygiene and quality . . . ", but we can honestly say we witnessed a huge shortcoming by the hotel in meeting those standards. We have photos we'd like to share with you. - dirty, damaged mattress pad - dirty telephone cord on bed night table - bird poop on lamp shade - disgusting stains on door frame to toilet room - disgusting stain on door handle to toilet room - disgusting stains on throw carpet beside bed - dirty sheets - dirty glass door to toilet room - residue and scum on shower floor, with musty odor - stains on floor, especially in toilet room - rusted, damaged furniture and bathroom mirror In addition, the door to our room did not close properly and the air conditioning in our son's room did not work for the first two days. The "modern" light switches didn't always work and we found ourselves having to contend with pink neon lights (even in the bathroom). There were a lot of ants and our son had to put his sneakers on the table after finding many ants in them. Towels - We had two bath towels and two hand towels in our room on the first day of our stay. We included our hand towels with the bath towels to be replaced with clean ones, but they never replenished our hand towels again. We repeatedly asked for hand towels and we were told someone would be bringing some to our room, but they never did. When we asked why, we were told the hotel had run out of hand towels. Most of the towels were not in great condition and had stains on them. Food and Drinks - the food at the buffet is limited and repetitive. The food at the snack bar left a lot to be desired - there were four options and none of them were good. No french fries! The pizza never seemed to be available and the wait time could vary from 20 minutes to "later", even over lunch hours - we came across a few rude staff members, who refused to make eye contact or acknowledge our questions. We found ourselves ordering several drinks at a time because they often would not come back to the table, no matter how long we were there - drinks at the pool and beach area bars come in small plastic cups, requiring several trips to get a decent amount to drink. Options were very limited because there seemed to be shortages of ingredients and mostly rum based. Vodka and tequila were not available. - the resort's "ice cream shop" had only one flavour of ice cream available (chocolate)! - the mini bar in the room was empty and there were was a coffee machine, but no coffee Wi-Fi - Getting on the Wi-Fi could take many many many attempts, sometimes with no success. The connectivity was very poor and it would regularly kick you off your connected device for no apparent reason. Hotel - We read that this hotel was built in 2018, but we experienced issues that one would expect in an older hotel. I found it especially frustrating that I could not get in and out of the elevator without having to lift my rollator over the transition in and out of the elevator. The main buffet had several chairs with broken arm rests and tables with damaged, stained surfaces. Some of the walkway concrete was damaged, as were the stairs from the lobby to the ground floor. Room Upgrade - We paid to upgrade both our rooms to "Classic Room Oceanview". Our room had the ocean view shown in the website's room description. However, our son's room had only a partial sea view, which is considered a Classic Room. The fee our son paid for his upgrade needs to be refunded please. We understand things are challenging, but our experience at this hotel was unacceptable. We hope to enjoy the beautiful beach in Varadero again one day, but it will never be at a Melia hotel.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: 2 star resort

This hotel did not have enough food to feed there guests they were out of everything examples no bread for 4 days no eggs no oil or salad dressings no cheese no straws no napkins no pop only tang orange juice no drinks like mojitos banna mamas nothing unless u wanted a beer we were very disappointed an had very little to eat all week

Barcelo Solymar: Excellent Staff!

I enjoyed my time at this resort and felt nothing but welcomed by the staff who were extremely courteous, friendly and a joy to deal with. People have complained about the food but given the situation within Cuba, I had nothing to complain about in that regards. We had a BBQ lunch every day at the Beach Bar and it was great. Dinner at the restaurants we went to were equally as good - was the pizza like the pizza I normally eat at home - no, but I didn't expect it to either. Hotel Camino del Mar: honest review ** two star and that's being generous

Bottom line, if your going here take your own food as there is shortages of everything, ketchup, syrup, rice, bread, potatoes, butter, any condiments all non existent. There was no hot water nor pressure for the entire week. Those asking about rooms being renovated, this is not happening, I only saw painting taken place. rooms are very dated and especially bathrooms. maids did amazing job keeping rooms clean thou.. I feel for them really, when we arrived capacity was 60 people in total therefore, no restaurants besides buffet for the first 4 days. then when we did get reservations was 2/5. Then a whole bus load of locals came to the resort and they got priority over everyone else. The music was loud everywhere on the resort, you couldn't escape it. Spanish music always and sometimes the loud speaker right through the resort at 1:00 AM. Everything you read in your all inclusive package, you will NOT get. there is no 24 hour anything. there is a ton of No see ums, they are in abundance for some reason, got over 100 bites and so did alot of others as we were all comparing at airport. take lots of spray. I love Cuba, I've been many times, this by far was the worst vacation making me question if I will ever return. the staff are pretty nice, they can only do so much for you thou.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Fabulous resort

We had amazing time, food excellent, staff amazing there to help. No water issues, its, beautiful Historical looking building not like others on Cayo coco , beaches are beautiful! I have been there a few times and the improvements are showing! Super place !

Starfish Cayo Largo: Awesome resort

What I like the most about the hotel and resort was the service and entertainment that everyone gave us. I wanted to thank everyone for their services they where a great team. I miss everyone I have met and enjoy their company .I can’t wait to come back an enjoy another few weeks with everyone again and I hope it will be the same people we met .

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Tired resort

Pros-beach and pool were great;most staff were friendly and helpful; the grounds were clean and well maintained Cons-buildings are tired looking and in need of upgrades; constantly running out of supplies (towels, water, butter, beer, liquor (other than rum), hot water, very little change to the offerings at the buffet Definitely not a 5 star any more!!

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: Good

Grounds well kept. Food was good However the rooms need revamping The room I stayed in was old and the washroom was not done properly. The bathtub need some work. Please upgrade the rooms. The staff should be able to speak a little English.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Clearly Old and Tired Resort

Our main concern is that things were advertised by Sunwing literature about the "Sanctuary Deluxe Junior Suite All Inclusive stay", that they could not, or did not provide. If they were not advertised, we would not have "expected" them. When staff at property were approached, there were lots of promises, but no follow through. Clearly this resort is "old and tired" - from leaky showers to broken locks or no locks, not enough lounge chairs or broken ones, it was disappointing. When we choose a holiday, we rely on the accuracy of the description of the amenities provided. We choose a destination, and spend our hard earned money, to get the services promised. Iberostar Origin Tainos: Beautiful grounds! Amazing beach!

The girls at customer service are awesome and the grounds are beautiful. It is a clean resort, but a little outdated. The food was horrible except for breakfasts! The grill station is only open between 12pm and 6 pm. The resort has a stunning beach!

Gran Muthu Imperial: Great value vacation

Overall a good place if you want a value vacation and are not picky about the food where there were noticeable shortages of things like butter cheese deserts among other things. Despite this there was always enough to eat. The beach at the resort next door is preferred to this hotels so if you are going for the beach think about the sister hotel ( not adults only though) There is a great beach just down the road (Pillar Beach) which you can get a return trip to for $5 that is one of the nicest [... read more] beaches in Cuba and has snorkelling or catamaran trips. Three pools at the hotel are great and we stayed at the pool most afternoons. The sports bar makes great Daquaris and Miami Vice ( worth trying). The lobby bar has great Cuban specialty coffees.

Starfish Varadero: Amazing resort!

Beautiful hotel, nice and clean beach, friendly staff. Good entertainment, good outdoor disco on Cuban square. Professional customer service team, nice outdoor diner with lobster, wine and more for Sunwing customers.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not Quite What it Use to Be

We were at this resort 13 years ago & can honestly say we were very disappointed this time around. The Embargo & supply chain issues have negatively affected the resorts general maintenance . While the staff were great, the resort is showing it’s age. As travellers, we were not expecting the entire country to be suffering from a food shortage.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Nice Resort

Resort very nice, its new. Very clean, staff friendly. Beach excellent lots of chairs and cabanas for everyone. Food was to be desired but they tried their best as there was a food shortage during our stay. Limited drink choices, some days they had the liquor the next they didnt.
