Tropical Deluxe Princess: Tropical Princess Resort in Punta Cana

The beach was beautiful, loved it!! The resort was nice and well laid out. I had read some negative reviews about the rooms but we had no problems with our room, it was not fancy but it was comfortable, our air conditioning worked and we had hot water in our shower. I enjoyed the food but had stomach issues through out the week, but was manageable with Imodium and Pepto Bismol. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment. The sun & the sand made our vacation lovely!!

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Nice resort but lot's of kids

We just returned from a week at Now Onyx Punta Cana. We were there from March 22 - 29. We didn't realize when we booked that this week coincided with American Spring Break, it often felt we were at a kid's resort. Even when we upgraded to a Preferred Private Plunge Pool suite on the Adult side of the resort it was the main hang out for the college age kids. As a couple looking for a quiet, relaxing escape from our busy lives at home we were disappointed. The resort itself has a nice tropical feel to it but not always the cleanest especially mornings at the bar area outside the restaurants. The food was good though not a big selection. The food at the a la carte's was quite good. The rooms are a good size but the shower and toilet are a strange setup as they are in a small area together with an open shower. Plenty of clean towels and housekeeping checked in again in the evening to see if we needed anything. The traffic in the hallways is very loud (when you are in your room) and we were woken up frequently during the night with people in the hallway. Housekeeping did a good job of the room. The beach and ocean were fantastic. They were constantly working to clean the seaweed but there was quite a bit of garbage in the sand around the loungers. We didn't spend any time at the main pool as it was quite loud with kids of all ages (from infant to teens). The adult pool was quieter but if you weren't out before 8am you weren't getting a lounger as people were out early and "saving" them. Every morning was a hunt for pool towels as they didn't seem to bring them out until 9am or so. We learned to bring fresh towels to our room in the afternoon so we had them for the morning. Our Concierge Moe was fantastic, he visited us in person a couple times a day, ensured our requests for our minibar were done daily. He even arranged and personally escorted us to dinner one night at the French restaurant at Breathless. I can't say enough good things about him. The staff at the resort were some of the friendliest I have ever come across, they always had a smile and cheerful "Hola" when they saw you. Now Onyx Punta Cana would probably be a very good resort for those travelling with kids of any age however for people travelling without kids I would recommend going elsewhere.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Lovely resort

Beautiful clean resort, the people who work there are wonderful! The room was clean and a good size. The beach was also very clean, had some vendors who would approach, but if you said you were not interested they left right away! The only thing that I found not up to the standard that I would have expected from such a nice resort was the food, at both the buffet's and steak restaurant.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Amazing resort

Majestic Mirage resort is a great resort to relax. The grounds are well kept and the whole resort is super clean. Activities are available for any age wishing to particapate.There is plenty variety of food.The rooms are huge,beach is clean and plenty of chairs available, pools were warm and not busy.Butler was great always available if needed.And all the workers everywhere there are so nice.

TRS Turquesa: Awesome time!!

What an amazing time our group had. The pools, food and service was some of the best. The bartenders at building 57 were over the top. A big thanks to our butler Bismery, she went out of here way to take care of all of us. Always greeted with a smile and took care of any needs or issues we had. Should be Butler of the year!!

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Nice resort

Hotel and resort is very nice and clean food was great but room service was disappointing did not leave bottle water half the time in our room front desk was not very helpfull when checking in but customer service was great

Riu Republica: Beautiful resort

We just spent a week at this amazing resort. I've never been at such a well kept, clean place. From the rooms to hallways to grounds. I was also impressed all the adjustable shaded awnings around the huge pools. The food was exceptional in the buffets and the restaurants. The service was very professional and friendly. I also liked that there were no motorized vehicles driving on the walkways. The nightly shows were well done with very talented performers. It was a nice surprise to see that this [... read more] resort uses glass or sturdy reusable plastic glasses for all their drinks instead of the thin plastic ones that many places use and trash. I look forward to going there again!

TRS Turquesa: Huge property with lots to offer !!!

It was very clean .. we stayed on the adult side and our butlers desmarie and Caroline and King Kong were all so accommodating!!! We had a large group and all had swim out rooms... with a bar right beside it ... we spent slot of time there ... our room was very well set up .. although it did have a little water leak but just kept a towel down there ... always remember you are in a 3rd world country .... all and all we enjoyed it .. Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Great Resort

Great Resort...beach is clean ...many pools ...lots of activities ...great food with many options ...friendly staff Few things Staff does not speak English ( not a big deal), Wi-Fi is average , my two kids slippers were lost on the pool and beach and could not find it ..

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Very relaxing week.

Recently spent a week at the Grand Bahia Principe Aquamarine and had a good time. The beach was nice but might want to check the distance of it from your section. We usually took a tram but it was a short ride to the beach and one could easily walk. The food was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would return.

Occidental Caribe: Great Tesort

The hotel itself was very clean. Just a room, nothing special. The maids had to be asked a couple of times to clean our room. The grounds were well kept. Staff were very friendly and helpful Good was good wherever you ate. Overall had a great time

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Ambar the beautiful !

. What can we say..... the newly renovated Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar is an awesome resort ! Can't really fault anything. Luv the beach as it is much roomier between chairs than other resorts ( except chairs closest to the water .) Pool has lots of loungers and great poolside service ( drinks, snacks, ice cream cart ). Everything at the resort is a short walking distance away. We were here around 2009, not long after this hotel first opened. It was beautiful then but additions and specialty re [... read more]staurants certainly have stepped up ! Things we enjoyed were, coffee shop ( great pastries in the afternoon ), top shelf liquors ( usually had to specify ), specialty drink menus at the restaurants. We tried Limbo, MEAT, Nakkei Mashua and Portofino ( all appetizing, great food ). Sports Bar ( chicken wings ) with unique drinks van. Activities at the pool, cocoa demo, wine tasting, foam party. We didn't attend a lot of evening shows but did enjoy the " Silent Disco " and Beach Party. A huge " Thank You " to Walter, entertainment staff. He is a charming, wonderful person. The Bahia is very fortunate to have such an extremely dedicated employee. Nicaury, lobby bar service, is also to be commended for her big smile, friendliness and great service. Thank you to all the amazing staff at Ambar for making our vacation exceptionally relaxing, enjoyable and memorable. Highly recommend Luxury Bahia Princie Ambar.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful ResortThe property

The property is beautiful. Gorgeous beach, very well maintained grounds that cover a vast area. Great for walking, jogging etc. Lots of activities, such as tennis, paddle ball, golf, water sports, etc, are available. There are many different restaurants and two buffets, with a wide variety of food options. The food is excellent, for the most part. Staff are friendly and accommodating, except for a few select customer service reps who were a bit abrupt. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: AQUAMARINE EXCELENT

OUR THIRD TIME AT THESE HOTELS .ROOMS ARE VERY NICE AND CLEAN ,FOOD AT BUFFET WAS GOOD AND HAD PLENTY OF SELECTIONS, IN ALL WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY . STAFF WERE ATTENTIVE AND FRIENDLY .THE ONLY MINOR COMPLAINT THAT WE HAD WAS THE LOBBY BAR COULD HAVE MORE STAFF IN THE EVENING WHEN THERE WAS A SHOW OUTSIDE .

Grand Bavaro Princess: Enjoyable Vacation at Bavaro Princess

Every effort was made to make the room comfortable. It was enjoyable to walk through the grounds and see the tropical plants, palm trees.beautiful flowers, flamingos and peacocks. Great care was taken to keep the grass and plants watered and looking beautiful. The room was cleaned and necessary items such as towels were supplied. If we needed anything, all we had to do was call and it was provided without delay. The people were very friendly and made every effort to make our visit enjoyable. Ma [... read more]nfre and Daniel at the reception were very helpful. Jordan was so energetic and entertaining teaching dance and aerobics at the beach. The various restaurants and the food was well prepared and delicious.

Impressive Punta Cana: Not overly impressive

Food could be better. Everything was mediocre at best. Bland and overcooked or undercooked. Staff at restaurants were miserable. Service at front desk miserable. Two nights of no air conditioner broken for six hours was just awful, felt like 35 degrees of unbearable humidity. Will definitely not be coming back. At least the weather was great and the beach was nice. Five on ten.

TRS Turquesa: Nice time

Over all we had a great time, we went with a group of 7 couples. The swim up pool to our room was a nice treat and having a bar next to the pool made it very nice . The butler service was very nice with friendly staff. It was also very nice to have room service at any time. The food and drinks were generally good. The beach was was very good with all sand with lots of it. As for the down falls... the first two days were hit or miss when trying to get hot water.

Ocean El Faro: Ocean El Faro Resort

The resort was okay. I wouldn't say great or exceptional as the resort only opened about 3 months ago when I vacationed there. Highlights of the resort was the lazy river, the pool and entertainment area. Pool had a swim up bar, friendly staff and a ton of games and entertainment to enjoy. The food at the buffet was wonderful and contained a ton of options. You would never go hungry. The restaurants were also good. My favorite was the Blue Moon and Sakura. Amazing food and service all around. So [... read more]me downfalls of the resort was that it was new and so there was construction right beside the resort. They are building an adult section to Ocean El Faro so there was quite a bit of noise (not too bad though). Our backyard to our hotel faced the adult edition (under construction of course) so most of the time I didn't feel comfortable enjoying the hammock swing that was in the backyard. I found the services at some of the restaurants very poor. Customer service and interpersonal skills were lacking in the hosts/hostesses and waiters/waitresses. Once we were seated at our table at the Margarita restaurant for example, it took 25 minutes for the waiter to say hi and greet us; another 30 minutes for someone else to take our order; and then another hour for our food to arrive. Other tables around me who were seated after I had been, had been served bread, water and wine before my table. I also don't particularly like being bombarded and constantly asked by H10 associates if I'm interested in time shares. The beach was small and I think still under construction so it lacked. Water was very rough and so I didn't spend much time at the beach. Overall, I enjoyed my time there.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Beautiful resort

This resort is exceptionally clean and beautiful. However, it is very large! There are 7 resorts in this complex. No one told us about the size of this place or that there are shuttle cars to take you where you want to go. The first day there was very frustrating because we walked so much before we found out about the shuttles. Also, it's not the resort on the beach...it's the second resort up from the beach. The rooms are spacious and clean and the pools are lovely. Lots of chairs on the beach, [... read more] but be careful not to sit in the roped off areas which are for the Ambar resort. The security will quickly approach you and get you to move. They know by the colour of your towels and the band on your wrist. Someone needs to explain these things to you when you book or when you arrive at the resort. We flew in with Air Canada Vacations and when we met with the rep. on day 2, he said nothing about the shuttles. Also, for the Aquamarine resort, the bus from the airport cannot take you to the lobby of this resort because the bus is too large. You have to get off at the entrance and another shuttle will take you to the lobby check in desk. Also, the theatre and many of the a-la-carte restaurants are not on this resort so you have to either walk or take a shuttle to them. We didn't find this out until the last day of our stay! So, we missed out on 2 a-la-carts before we realized this. All this being said, I would return now that I know about the shuttles!! Everyone is very friendly, but not everyone can speak good English, so there can be a language barrier.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Beautiful with it's own issues

We stayed at one of the sister hotels (Barceló Maya) last year so we had a an expectation of the same quality and experience going into this. Upon arrival, we were greeted and directed promptly. The wait to check in was a bit on the long side. We arrived after 1pm and was told the rooms were not ready. They gave us a beeper and directed us to go and eat lunch and come back when the beeper went off or 3pm. We went back to find the rooms still were not ready so they gave us 2 rooms 8 rooms [... read more] apart. This was disappointing as I did contact the hotel twice previous requesting joining rooms, however I also understand it is subject to availability. The rooms were clean, but well used! a closet door didn't work in each of our rooms as well as the TV in 1 room and an alarm clock. However, when we contacted the operator, someone was always sent promptly. The resort is large. The train that operates is a nice way to get around. The childrens areas are great, however be prepared to pay for extras (Pirate ship splash area, Bowling, Golf, Games) It is setup to still take money from you after you have already paid the money to get there. Golf was no different. Golf is included with your stay! BONUS RIGHT! well, a $75 mandatory cart fee is ridiculous! $35 rental clubs for used or $45 for brand new! So included golf isn't so included! The food was OK. A La Carte were great but the buffets, like all resorts, you get sick of by day 5. Service staff were present however not always working for you it felt like. After a few days, they realized we tipped and service did improve. Some people my have an opinion regarding the lack of English speaking staff, however, I took it as I have travelled to a different country, why should I expect them to speak my language. The beech was the best beech I have been to. Clean shore, clean sand, so clean it was hard for the kids to collect rocks or shells! Pools were large and great. Chairs get snagged up early. The hotel even posts just because a towel is on the chair, doesn't entitle you to it however, who enforces that? We went early and did the same like everyone else. Overall we had a great time. The hotel has shown its age or use at least but it is still beautiful. The experience was great but the extra charges are enough to make you think "Is this place better then others?"
