Loved that it was adults only. The Diamond Club on the beach was great with fabulous service from Jesus. Rooms were well kept and food was delicious for Cuba/ fresh. The pools were too shallow and had a very foul smell of eggs in the air ...

Resonance Blu Varadero: Great resort

The resort was very beautifully maintained and everything on ground was tip top. The food was good, repetitive, but lacked the 4 star service that you would expect. Most of the week we had to serve our own coffee at the buffet and our own drinks at the machines. But the Beach was beautiful, always upkept and lots of space and lots of chairs. Bars were always stocked with great service and great drinks. The people on the resort are extremely friendly and there is always lots to do. There are lots of possibilities and arguably this resort could pass for a 5 star if the buffet service was upgraded and the people served you in the ways you would expect; also if all buildings for rooms were upgraded as well. The room we stayed in was upgraded and very nicely kept. This was in building 24, highly recommend requesting this building as I do recall seeing some other buildings still outdated. Overall the resort was amazing and worth every penny, we did enjoy our 7 night stay.

Barcelo Solymar: wrong rating

this resort had a wrong rating 4+ it is not. max is 3 ,employees are all set into a bribe system ,you pay they will look into your problem ,you don't they will ignore you .it is totally run down old resort , they tell you as you arrive do not drink the water and they serve ice with bad water , few days and the diarrhea starts ,also, they are admitting that what you paid for is what you get ,broken door locks ,missing light bulbs ,noisy AC that if it works ,terrible mattress you feel the spring [... read more]s in your bones ,not even bed covers available as per the photos,4 days no towels and when you ask they say the laundry machine is broken but the privilege one gets towels every day .due to lack of visitors they shut down the best part of the resort and sold the rundown one .we talk to the sunwing agent and his respond not much i can do just don't stay her next time not much he can do .

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Good for the most part

Separate beds for my partner and I which I didn’t appreciate. Got the run around and they were never able to get us a bed together. My bed had hair from 2 different people on the sheets and blood stained into the sheets. The last person in the room left the sliding door open so there was at least 10 mosquitos in the room. Had to complain to the manager and took 2 days for someone to come clean it. Rooms are dated, nothing nice about them. Mosquitos wait right by your door to come in, I went ho [... read more]me with at least 50 bites which have now swollen. Diarrhea minimum 3x a day. Had to only eat bread and rice by the last few days. Other than the negative: Beautiful grounds. Charlie from the entertainment is super fun and friendly. The sunwing rep can help you if you need anything. Weather was good 5/7 days. It rained a lot on 2 days. Stayed in and played cards. Met a lot of great and interesting people from Germany, Austria, Montreal, and Ontario. Mostly older crowd, maybe only 20% younger. Would recommend going off the resort for nightlife, the marina is a 10 minute walk and has a club that’s not bad. Women, bring toilet paper.

Starfish Varadero: Loved the starfish varadero

Great hotel. 3.5 star food and drinks but 4 star experience overall. I can see why people recommend it and keep coming back. They upgraded my mom and I to a bungalow due to her mobility issues and gave us a late check out. The front desk staff was the best I have ever had in Cuba (10th time at a resort in Cuba, 15th time to Cuba). Snack bar was great and lounge area with a terrace with live music. Recently Renovated standard rooms. I had a blast here.

Roc Barlovento: Great value

Roc Barlovento is located at the start of the Varadero strip within walking distance to the charming town of Santa Marta.It is Spanish style 3 level with contemporary decorated rooms. Punta Peninsula Varadero: Resort was changed last minute to Grand Memories veradero.

We booked Fiesta Americana Superior rooms but last minute Sunwing changed to Grand Memories and offered us refund if we don't want. This was a real set back for us so we took it. Brenda said everything is same only the resort is changed. But at Grand Memories we were given just standard rooms which needed really upgrades. Sunwing rep tried to help but invain. I don't think I will take Sunwing vacations anymore. There are other competitors in the market with better offers. Our room luggage stand [... read more] was falling apart and light bulbs burned. Iron was working but back piece was falling off which exposes electrical wires. Despite all that we enjoyed because of very friendly staff especially our maid and catering staff in restaurant. Grand Memories turned bad memories due to my wife's cell phone was stolen while charging in the lobby while she was seated just a little bit away from it. Hotel security was not much of a help and even refused to check cameras because it's a public place according to them. Location and the beach is great but their section B 11 rooms needs upgrading badly. Even in the lobby I noticed a power outlet which has come out of wall. This means No Maintenance. No complains about food and service. I believe this is Sunwings fault not checking about the resort that they are offering to clients.

Hotel Los Cactus: my second home

I have been returning to this resort twice a year for a few years now, and will continue to do so. The grounds and rooms are kept very clean and the beach is beyond beautiful. It is the staff here that make the difference. The food is good, the pool, and entertainment is good, and there is always beach chairs and palapas available. I cant wait to go back !

Hotel Villa Cuba: Ok resort

Grounds were nice. First room 533? Broken safe, phone didn’t work. Second room 514 was ok, maid did a good job but on her day off relief forgot toilet paper. There was no handle on the outside of the patio door, l reported it but never put on. The light outside the entrance was out and I reported it several times. In the 14 days we were there the light worked on three days only. The food was good, except on the few days that there was bacon it was very uncooked. Ice cream was never hard always [... read more] like cream but still tasted ok. The buns were very fresh. Would liked to see more fruit like apples pears etc. The sand was very soft ant the water very good. The bathroom could use a toilet brush as it all doesn’t wash away when flushed. The staff at the bars and the restaurant were very cheerful and always had a smile.

Starfish Jibacoa: Jewal in Cuba.

Small resort with beautiful grounds. Staff is very friendly. I am returning customer and feel like I am coming home. If you get there you have to try amazing Spanish coffee that is best made by Rudi. Recomend the resort to people that need time to rest without a lot of people around and with average expectations regarding food.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not very Happy Iberostar Laguna Azul

Was not pleased at all. Ran out of Crystal beer on the 2nd day, food limited, room had no air conditioning, nothing stocked in fridge except mold, was so disappointed we were there 4 years ago and it was fantastic, really has gone down hill, the only good thing is Dania and Kensey helped us out but still resort is going down hill fast, all resorts around looked run down, been going to Cuba for 11 years and now we are done, so sad such a wonderful place and wonderful people but resorts too run do [... read more]wn and not being renovated so sad

Melia Las Americas: PERFECT!

BEST place I've stayed in Cuba... The resort was beautiful... Fabulous food. Amazing beach. lovely staff. The transfer from the airport is only 30mins and 10mins to downtown Varadero I would recommend this resort to anyone! and especially any golfers as its right on the ONLY golf course in Cuba! and such a a gorgeous course. perfectly maintained

Sol Palmeras: Sol Palmeras...my 3rd vacation here

This Resort and the people who work here are so friendly and caring to all the guests...being my third trip to Sol Palmeras,I have developed many friendships and they make feel like family now . I am definitely heading back next October. The restaurants are great and the service is fantastic. The buffet is incredible with so many choices. Be Live Turquesa: renovated!

I have been here and they have renovated. I stayed in one of the new rooms-so sparkling and clean. A/C worked great. Resort is clean and staff friendly. I travel alone and always am safe. Beach and pool are the best. Food is Cuba but Maria L makes great omelettes and Dorel and Jenny are great servers! Quick with coffee and refills. Not enough red wine at the bars is my only complaint and remember to bring bug spray for the 'no-see-ems'. I would recommend this resort

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Wonderful to Relax & Explore

This Melia resort is one of my all time favourites! The layout is great because all room accommodations and villas are close to recreational amenities and restaurants. The beach is just a 2-5 min walk from anywhere on the resort and Varadero has one of the best beaches in all of the Caribbean. Hotel Los Cactus: Nice place

Enjoyed our stay. Food needs to improve. Needs more variety Facilities need some work. Had to change room because toilet and lights didn't work. They upgraded us to better room. Beach was amazing. Grounds are nice

Starfish Jibacoa: Our favorite

Love this place! Low key and relaxing. The staff are amazing, the beach is gorgeous. Our vacation destination of choice, year after year. Highly recommend this resort if you are looking for peace and quiet relaxation.

Roc Barlovento: Wonderful Hotel wonderful staff

Old but very clean Staff exceptional , I've stayed at this very hotel before and was very pleased with the service would recommend this hotel to my friends andfamily. The beach was close and the weather perfect

Club Tropical: Value for cost

In the heart of Varedero lies a quaint and friendly resort named Club Tropical. Excellent staffing and surprisingly good food are offered daily by courteous staff. This resort is situated on the beach within a minute walk. We encountered people from all over the globe and made many friends. Now, tourism is declining in Varedero and you can see by the lack of people walking around on the strip which means the populace is doubling down on their efforts to squeeze out a Peso by any means available, [... read more] weather it be by begging, overcharging, or blatantly padding restaurant bills. A prime example is the constant harassment of cab drivers blowing their horns at you and stopping their stinking diesel cars to ask you if you need a ride, again, for a princely sum. There is probably 200 cabs and twenty tourists so go figure. We have been to Varedero many times over the years but now feel the shine is rubbing off.

Roc Barlovento: A NICE RESORT

It is well maintained and nicely laid out . All of the various staff members are very pleasant and courteous . The property is close to a bus service and an easy walk to a big flea market . The Buffet was nicely organized and well kept . The foods were plentiful but almost the same things day after day . The hot foods were not always hot and the cold not always cold .
