Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen
This hotel is a perfect size with amazing staff! Very close to 5th Avenue for any shopping needs. The food is abundant and always fresh. If you would like something different and can't find it in the ample buffet just ask the chef & he/she will try their best to accomodate your request. The only complaint I would mention is the lack of lounge chairs around the pools. It's a race every morning to get chairs. We even witnessed two fights when some guests tried to take loungers that were already in[... read more] use! Overall, I would recommend this resort if you don't mind the lack of beach!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: The beach does not look like this.
The resort is very large and sprawling. There are trolleys available if you don’t want to walk. The area where the splash park is, is called ‘Daisy’ and is approximately in the centre of the property. We had a problem with our initial room and had to be moved. The first room was so musty smelling, we could barely breathe and could not stay there. We ended up in Eden, which was closer to the beach and a much nicer location. The beach area was very nice and perfect for long walks. The resta[... read more]urants were very good and you only needed to reserve at the Japanese. All other’s were first come first serve and you put your name on a waiting list. All restaurants had a QR code for their menus, however paper ones were available upon request. They had 2 mixologist station on the property that served amazing drinks.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Worst Resort we have ever stayed in!
No where near a 4* - hotel old and in need if complete refurbishment,
Food was not very good - same dishes every day, primarily Mexican fare with little variety
I've never been to a breakfast buffet where you cannot even get bacon.
Drinks very little to offer and ran out of something or other every day. No mojito, one day no tonic for a gin and tonic the next, and so it went on.
Not enough chairs around the pool, beach not cleaned up

Riu Palace Pacifico: A beautiful and clean resort!
The Riu Palace Pacifico is a smaller resort so it's good for getting to the pool, beach and buffet easily. It's beautiful and very clean! lots of cleaning staff everywhere. The food was very good overall, seemed to be lots of choices and somewhat of a variety. We only ate at the steakhouse one night and the ribs were good (but just as good as at the buffet) and the chocolate cake was soooo rich and wonderful! Lots of fresh fruit, good drinks, great service everywhere. With the variety of seating[... read more] areas, you could always find shade or sun. The junior suite partial oceanview room was ok, I didn't like the two level seating area leading to the balcony. There was a large tub, so might be harder to get in if you have mobility issues. The bed was firm but comfy. The pillows were absolutely awful! not even really pillows just lumpy garbage! We complained and the front desk staff chuckled as they got that complaint a lot. The new pillows they gave us were normal and good. Ask for a room above level 3 if you hope to see the ocean at all. The lower levels look out onto a huge patio that you aren't allowed to go onto and the buffet is noisy underneath if you are on level 1 on that side. I have heard they are renovating the pool area into 4 separate pools so won't bother commenting on the pool. The beach is miles long so if you like walking then you can do that, but the angle of the beach leading into the water is a bit too steep for easy walking. This creates a lot of waves as well, so it's not ideal for little kids. The Palace is overall a quiet and beautiful place to relax, only about 25 min to the airport and the weather in Nayarit was stunning in November. The beach vendors didn't bother you too much, but there was always horses standing in front of the resort and I just felt sorry for them standing there in the 30 degree weather all the time with no food or water. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and met lots of people that have been coming there repeatedly for years. My biggest complaint would be that Riu is only partnering with Sunwing from Toronto and I will NEVER use Sunwing again. I can't even tell you how bad that airline is!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Pretty Good Resort
We booked a privilege package/room.
The food at this resort was amazing, and having dinner at one of the restaurants each night was really nice. Sakura, the teppanyaki restaurant was incredible, and an experience everyone should try to enjoy. Out only issue with food was at the Mexican restaurant, Margherita. I ordered a mango margherita, and it came with a lot of hard plastic shards in it. We told the waiter, and he seemed genuinely shocked. They brought another to her, and again it had lots o[... read more]f large and sharp plastic shards. Once is a mistake, twice is negligence.
The drinks were great at the various bars, the piano bars make some really nice ones, and it's also nice to see them create and try new and unique things for drinks at the piano bar. Part of the privilege package included top shelf liquor, but the pool bars, and lobby bar were so busy that the bartenders just used whatever bottle already had the spout attached infront of there quick grab station. This didn't bother me, the bar tenders (and alot of the other staff) were working incredibly hard. It was just an observation I had. If you really wanted the premium alcohol, it seems like you would need to request that each drink.
We visited each pool, aside from the Daisy pool, they all were great. The foam party in the Eden pool was a blast. The beach one is nice, but the privilege section of the beach was amazing. We spent alot of time just hanging out in the cabana style lounge couches.
My only other major downfall of this resort, and the main reason why I wouldn't go back was the constant hounding by the H10 staff. When we arrived we were told of a breakfast the next morning as an information session. Little did we know this turned into a very aggressive time share sales pitch. It was disgusting to watch late in the trip, a young family being aggressively pressured into a major financial commitment. Knowing that someone with less will power to resist might be forced into something that may negatively hurt them for a long time. We also seen a lot of guests struggle to get dinner reservations who did not get the privilege package.
Overall, we did enjoy our time, the plastic in the drink, I really hope that was just a one off incident. But the aggressive sales pitches at every turn just left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Las Palmas by the Sea: Under New Management
I have been going to this resort for 20 years. I did not go last year because of Pandemic.
This trip showed some major changes. For some they are good for others they are bad.
They resort has now become a total non-smoking resort except on the beach which is public property. This is good because you could not sit by the two pools because smokers sat beside you and chain smoked then throwing their butts on the concrete.
You cannot sit and drink by the sports bar or main bar anymore either. [... read more]First it is a non-smoking bar and second by removing the chairs to sit down at the bars they are saving money on liquor because this is an unlimited drinks resort. You have to take your drink to where you are sitting.
The resort has been completely painted inside and out. New mattress and bedding and pillows.
No more live entertainment just a disc jockey to save money.
Food is very good lots to eat.
Lots of previous employees let go.
Waiter service at your table very slow and also seems non caring.
Asking for ice water with your meal is a big ask.
No more sports on Tv at the bar because they don't want you to sit there anymore and drink.
No more coffee at six am before restaurant opens at seven. People leaving early get no coffee or tea.
Two weddings at adult pool meant they closed pool early for the patrons so they could set up.
Music for the wedding went till 11:00 am so patrons could not sleep.
Resort bringing seven busloads of Mexican locals to resort to register for day activities which include free breakfast. So, the patrons staying at the resort had to wait 90 minutes in line to get their breakfast but when they got to the buffet table it was all gone so the resort brought out the lunch menu at 10:30 am.
If they raise prices, it would not be worth going there

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Royal Decameron was awesome!
We chose Royal Decameron because of its location. We love Bucerias and stayed many times before, but never in an all inclusive.
This resort and its staff were incredible. The buffet food is just that, buffet food, but with enough options to please the picky palate. The beauty of this location is if you tire of the buffet and a la cartes, you will find a charming little taco place or restaurant along your walk into Centro Bucerias. The Chedraui grocery store is a convenient 10 minute walk wher[... read more]e you can find everything you may have forgot to pack... also a great place to pick up momentos if you are not into bartering on the beach or marketplace.
We booked an Ocean Front room in Building 1, third floor and it was spectacular! A 180 degree view of the beach ensures incredible mornings and sunsets! Although this complex is rather large, it didn't seem so, if that makes sense. We meandered around the complex and everything was easily accessible. There was even an adults only section, where the majority of the seniors stayed as it is geared to be a quiet zone, so if you tire of the pounding music and animation team, or the kids splashing, this is the place to get a break.
The beach is beautiful! Sure you have the early morning chair savers (which resort doesn't) but there was always a sufficient amount of chairs/palapas for all interested. Also, plenty of chairs around the many pools.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Royal Decameron, and will return next year.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Nice hotel with great amenities!
The AIR CANADA ride from the airport was long1.5 hrs, as we had to make several stops
We stayed ocean front which was very nice, the beach is beautiful to walk and no problem getting chairs umbrellas are also available We went to the pool every day, you don’t have to get up at 6am to get a chair! There are lots and all have palapas for shade. Beach bar was ok, Buffet was good, specially restaurants leave a lot to be desired. They serve a large portion of meat with little veggies You do h[... read more]ave to make reservations, but this is easy with concierge bars ok, make a wide variety of drinks for everyone. There are guidelines for dress at specialty restaurants, but no one is turned away.. even those who think shorts and t-shirts are acceptable.. of course this is not the norm…. When did flip flops become evening wear? Pool & Beach! Green Too many men think this is acceptable.
This is a great hotel and we would probably return. Beautiful weather and Lowe humidity in December

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing Resort!
This hotel is very nice, the grounds are so nicely kept, the rooms are cleaned daily the people working there are amazingly attentive, there’s a buffet where the food is excellent, there’s everything for everyone. Lots of drinks as well. We stayed 1 week and we were able to have 3 dinners at different restaurants, those restaurants are first rate. COVID-19 is present but not due to the hotel, we the clients bring COVID-19 so we must be vigilant and monitor symptoms. If you feel sick you’re[... read more] encouraged to stay in your room and they will bring you everything necessary to your room so you don’t spread the virus. To be honest though, most people that feel sick keep coming out of their rooms they prefer to keep quiet and keep enjoying their holiday. The plane back was full of sick people without wearing a mask. All and all we enjoyed our trip and we look forward to the next time we can go somewhere. Trip central is a really well run business I recommend it very much.

Occidental Cozumel: Very disappointed
Occidental changed and for the worse. The service is awful, nobody made us feel special there whatsoever. They had a clear lack of food and the resort generally felt badly taken care of (insects in the rooms, damp beds from humidity that the ACS just aren't able to keep up with) We weren't even greeted with a welcome drink, and asked a passer by if we could get.some drinks, the drinks came in plastic cups...you can tell a lot by the first drink.
The general vibe of the resort was gloomy, everyo[... read more]ne seemed depressed (staff AND tourists). We would have stayed there despite all this has we been able to book scuba trips, but even that was "fully booked and nothing they could do"
We changed to a different resort. A WestJet rep helped us, but not Kevin, it was a 3rd party rep that helped over the phone and had us transferred for an additional $200. We were satisfied with the other resort, it was a lot better and a lot more positive in general. So all in all - I learned a lesson. Not going to use West jet again...they don't even include a piece of luggage on the plane, not much is offered and they pricing is pretty high. I may as well have gone to Cuba with the experience I had. Sorry, but this is the honest opinion. Hope you improve

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Not recommended
Although the hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are very clean, it stops there, the food quality at the buffet was terrible,, only restaurant worth going too was the mexican restaurant. Steak house was not that great.
Alcohol at the resort started at 11:00 am and would stop serving at 11:00 pm.
Only way you could get food was room service after 10:00 pm that's their idea of 24 hours for food.
The beach they advertise on their pictures is false...its washed away behind the hotel. Defian[... read more]tly not worth the money, many other resorts i'm sure offer a lot more for the money.

Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Cancun by Royalton: Great time for our group
We had a great time, the good variety of food, restaurant food delicious. The daytime pool entertainment and evening central bar was good. A little lack of seating around main stage. Our room location in 13 block was nicely shady all day and the lobby bar there was a great spot for morning coffee and pre dinner cocktails.

Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort and Spa: Very good resort
We really enjoyed our time at Dreams PV. I stayed in the Preferred Club section, and I am not sure the upgrade was worthwhile for me. It allows you to enjoy a bar on the second floor (I don't drink) and there are some snacks and foods set out in the lobby all day long. The M& Ms in the room were a nice touch, but I would not pay for the upgrade next time.
The pools were great, and so was the beach. This was a family resort, so lots of kids. If you wanted to use the sister resort right next do[... read more]or (Secrets) you had to pay. You also had to pay to go to the restaurants on the Secrets side. So the two resorts are quite separate, and you are not allowed to just grab a lounge chair on the other side.
We loved the coffee shop! Great coffee served as well as snacks all day long. The service staff were truly great. All in all, I liked the resort. They do try to upsell you a lot. Some restaurants have special areas (eg. the second floor overlooking the ocean) that you can only go to if you buy a bottle of wine. Aside from the many times they tried to upsell us, the resort is great.

The resort was excellent. The ground was well maintained. The staff and workers are very friendly, hard working and cheerful. The activities at the resort were well planned and interesting. We like the archery. The beach is well shaded with umbrella. Plenty of chair for you to rest and relax.

Hilton Cancun: Awesome time!
Overall fantastic service outside of the terribly slow check in process. Although, if that’s the only big problem, I’ll take it! Nice beach, rooms, food was good, volleyball was fun, had a great time!
