Sol Turquesa Beach: Beautiful resort

the resort was great. the food was great. the beach was kind of weedy but did clear up after a few days. the entertainment was first class. the rooms and hotel itself were always kept clean. the bar service was fantastic especially El Tigre at the swim up. Very entertaining. The managers were always very helpful and resolved any issues that came up in a very timely fashion. The gardeners and pool people were exceptional and kept the pools and the grounds immaculate and picture perfect.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Amazing resort

Everything was first class, food, drinks, entertainment & staff. Booked a snorkelling trip on the Hibiscus. Best trip ever! Saw dolphins & whales. Rooms were very clean. Good variety of food every day in all of the restaurants. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.

Riu Ocho Rios: Always a winner!

A beautiful (albeit a little dated), resort with clean beaches and turquoise water. The staff at this resort work hard to get to know each and every guest and make them feel welcome. Rooms were moderately clean, but improvements could be made. Kids Club is lacking one important thing - other kids. My 3 year old and 1 year old wanted to play there daily but there were never any other kids there. Front desk could do a better job of letting their guests know that the kids club exists. Great selecti [... read more]on of food at the buffet. Jerk chicken/rice and peas on the beach is a winner! Disappointed that the Junior Suites area has now been made adults only. The pool there is quite exceptional and was always a lot quieter. Disappointed that wifi in main lobby is only free for 90 concurrent minutes a day now. Third visit to this resort and celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary (we were married there in 2010), and my 34th birthday and the front desk/management did not do anything to recognize this. My husband informed them at check-in and at another point and despite their promise to recognize nothing was done.

Riu Palace Peninsula: Beautiful resort

We just got back from our vacation at Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun and our overall First impression was that it was a very beautiful and clean resort. All of the public areas, such as the lobby, all the restaurants, the pool areas and the beach areas were all lovely, with great attention to detail. The beach was nice although there was some seaweed in the water. There was a rocky area as well, but those were quite interesting as inbetween the rocks were little mini 'private' beaches as I liked [... read more] to call them. Some iguanas took residence there as well. The hotel rooms were also very modern and clean and most rooms had an ocean view. I have no complaints about the room that we had, except the trouble it took to get it with the front desk, but in the end it was resolved pretty quickly. The buffet restaurant was pretty good with a good selection of food. The theme restaurants lacked in quality, especially the Italian restaurant.......the food was salty and dried out and the appetizer buffets at these restaurants were picked over and not replenished, especially if you had the later dinner seating. The best restaurant in this category was the Fusion restaurant. Unfortunately you could only book one restaurant a time in advance so that was an inconvenience. We went to book the morning after we got there, which was a Tuesday and we couldn't get into any of the restaurants until the Thursday. The lobby bar was quite nice with the piano as a before dinner location. Good place to people watch and nice big windows overlooking the resort. Entertainment after dinner was lacking however, with lip synching entertainers dancing around to the pre-recorded music.......somewhat lame. There isn't a disco or anything where the younger adults can go to listen to music and dance so that was lacking as well, but places like CocoBongo were only a 5 minute bus ride away if you were so inclined. The spa was good but very expensive, cost $280 U.S. for two 45 minute massages on the beach. The only other area that was lacking was shopping on the resort. There were only two stores, one a jewelry store and the other a little gift/beachwear/sun lotion type of store. Again, you could hop on the bus and go shopping further down on the strip. The staff were really friendly and hard working. All in all, we enjoyed our vacation at the Riu Palace Peninsula and would return again.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great resort!

Staff were very nice and accommodating. Grounds, room, pools and beach area were all quite clean. Our room (500 section) was close to just about everything. Always had hot shower water! Despite what I've heard of Cuban food, it was surprisingly quite good; best calamari around. You could tell they tried to switch things up and keep things new. Would definitely go back to Memories Holguin.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Welcoming Experience

The rooms were clean, the staff were helpful and always pleasant. Since I understand that this was recently taken over, I hope to go back and see what improvements are made, since I found it a nice place to stay. There were things to see and the reason I went was to unwind and relax and that is exactly what I got to do. I felt safe and secure, I never worried about wondering the resort day or night, there was always a security person around or a smiling face to assist you. Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing time

We had a great trip everything was perfect hotel was amazing and all the people were super nice the beach was just awsome service was really good I enjoyed all the food I have nothing. Bad to say about it it was so good I would go back tomorrow if I could

Sol Turquesa Beach: Enjoyed our time there

Grounds well kept, rooms clean and spacious, meals good, public washroom near the beach not that clean, large beach but not that good for swimming and weedy at times making walking the length of the beach not that easy, great pool areas. Procedure booking theme restaurants needs to be improved. Staff really excellent.

Riu Santa Fe: Good

The resort was very clean, but there was no waiters around the pool to take your drink borders.There was a lot of flys at the indoor restaurants and at the pools, we covered our food with napkins and our drinks with a napkin as well as a hair elastic. we had a great time... And would definiatly go again!

Riu Palace Mexico: Beautiful Resort - Medium Food

The resort was beautiful. The beach was gorgeous. There was a fair amount of cigarette buds on the beach which was pretty gross, and a bit of garbage too from people not cleaning up after themselves. I didnt like our room very much, only because it was right beside the theater so on the night we went to bed early, we couldn't sleep cause there was constantly loud music. There was alot to choose from but nothing tasted good.

Riu Tequila: Good value resort with some limitations.

Clean, efficient resort with charming Mexican decor. It has great food, attentive staff and good overall value. It is co-located with a few other Riu resorts where you have limited use of facilities. The pool area is somewhat small and not very deep but is fine if you just want to cool down after lounging in the sun for a while. The beach is probably 400 to 500 metres away, which means a hike of 10 mins or more. This was a bit of a stretch for senior citizens like ourselves. Although, there is a [... read more] small golf cart "trolly" to ferry people back and forth at selected times during the day we never used it once over a 9 day stay because it never seemed to fit our schedule. One irritant for us was the WIFI set up which only allowed access for 90 continuous minutes once a day in the (at times) very noisy lobby. This was very inconvenient, so to keep contact with our family we many times had to walk minutes down the street and sit outside the Starbuck to use there WIFI signal.. In contrast the Riu Playacar and Riu Yucatan which were close by allowed their guests 24 hour WIFI from several areas on their property

Riu Vallarta: Very good resort

The food was extremely good and it was a very clean resort. The staff was friendly and we especially enjoyed the entertainment in the lobby area at night. The a la carte restaurant Sir George was very good. The restaurant The Flamingo was lovely for lunch and the fish was delicious.

Riu Ocho Rios: Best Holiday ever

This is an amazing resort. We stayed in the adult only section with a small room upgrade. The room itself was superior. Maid service and cleanliness were perfect. The food at this resort is also above average. The amenities, beach, and services were also excellent. We used Sunwing. Its local rep, Sandra, was very professional and her recommendations for excursions were right on. We had a great time. By way of criticisms, we would only say that the evening shows were very amateurish (if you reall [... read more]y care), the sound systems were blurred (even with p.a. systems it seems that the locals felt compelled to shout all the time), and the front desk was always short on cash to change your bills. Bring small bills. The music is almost totally Bob Marley all the time (as this parish is where he was born). Staff were amazing and friendly. No doubt we will be going back. Suggest that if you are a sun worshipper, you plan to start at 8 am. Sun is hot and bright in the morning. By about 4 pm it is usually gone (in January) behind banks of clouds. This was a daily pattern.

Riu Santa Fe: Really good overall resort!

This was a beautiful hotel and amazingly clean complex. Food was good. It was easy to book into the a-la-cartes and worth it! The buffet was also a lovely dining experience with linen service, hot food stations and a chocolate fondue. Alcohol was superior and the stocked fridge was a nice touch. Weather was a touch unpredictable and cool but that is january in Mexico! If there was something lacking it was the evening entertainment....started too late and was cheesy. Perhaps something earlier? A  [... read more]beach bonfire? A Mexican fiesta? Evenings were a bit flat.

Riu Negril: Had a very awesome time.

Everything was excellent.People were friendly, food was great, sand on beach was beautiful. I have already recommended it to co-workers and friends and they will be booking a trip there by months end. Thanks again for making our trip a memorable one.

Riu Tequila: Our preferred RIU resort in Maya Rivera

The RIU Tequila is one of several RIU resorts in the area and while it is not the most grandiose compared to others, at least if feels like you are still in Mexico. The Tequila was exceptionally clean, the staff very friendly, the food excellent and the pool area with adjoining dining very nice. It is a good value also as you pay a bit less because it is a 5 minute walk to the beach or 2 minutes by shuttle but no big deal. We also liked that there were guest privileges at 2 beachfront RIU resort [... read more]s for breakfast and lunch and bar service. Our first time in the area but if we go back, it will be to the Tequila.

Riu Emerald Bay: Nice Place

Riu Emerald in Mazatland was a great resort lot of guest but they were able to provide lots of pool chairs towels good food and drinks The beach was very nice the swimming in the ocean was a little rough but the unheated pool was refreshing I would go back again

Riu Palace Las Americas: Nice clean friendly resort

clean,well arranged,user friendly.One negative point was that there was no exhaust fan in our washroom .Also , the bed mattress was not up to standard for this hotel .Food and beverage service was generous and excellent .

Riu Guanacaste: Amazing Guanacaste

The Riu Guanacaste was an amazing resort! The people there are friendly and it's nice that most of them can speak English so that communication is not an issue. The rooms are clean and the excursions that you can go on in this region are beautiful!

Riu Emerald Bay: Clean Resort, Good Location

The rooms and grounds were nice and clean! Beautiful hotel. The entertainment wasn't as good as we'd hoped and the grounds weren't very lush, but it's because it seems they've put their money into the food and staff. It was mostly Mexican's vacationing there, so lots of families running around, but still some nice adults areas and a great swim up bar. It's not really a party resort, although there is a disco which we danced at a couple nights. We really relaxed more than anything on the beach du [... read more]ring the day. The beach was beautiful and huge, but the ocean isn't really swimmable because of the waves; if you like surfing though, there was lots of that going on. The Golden Sun district closer to town has more swimmable ocean. The Mexican restaurant in the hotel (Tabasco) we went to one night was a disappointment. Unfortunately the staff were cranky and my husband got food poisoning. The meal itself wasn't great either - the Mexican food in the buffet was much better. The nice thing about Mazatlan is while you can barter, you aren't being super harassed by the vendors. It's a very safe feeling town with lots of cool restaurants and a wicked night life. As far as Mexico goes we'll be back! I think next time we may stay in a condo though closer to the Golden Sun District. We went there a couple nights and found amazing food and cheap booze. 120 pesos for 6 beer at Lucky B's! I recommend Mazatlan wholeheartedly! If you are looking to do an all inclusive, I would recommend the Riu. I would recommend against anything to do with Sun Wing though. The planes are so cramped and dirty. The tours we did through them at the resort were pretty good though. The Old Town Night Out tour is a must. The Catamaran Sunset Cruise was a waste of money. While it was nice to be on the ocean, it's not what you think it would be. You're better off to go fishing or head to the marina and find something else.
