Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great Family Vacation

We had a fantastic time in Veradera. The staff was amazing and very helpful. Our only issue was that we came home with bites. We are not sure if they came from the sand or the mattresses. Food was okay and the night time entertainment was amazing.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Wonderful Resort!!!

Just returned from a wonderful 5 day solo stay at this beautiful resort! Rooms - basic room with renovated bathroom. Room was fairly large, beds comfortable, stand up shower, balcony. Mini bar is restocked every other day with 3 cans of pop, beer and 1 litre of water. Blocks 15 & 16 are close to the beach however if noise is an issue you will have a problem as there is a late night beach party and foam party on two separate nights that go till 2am. Blocks 11 & 12 are close to the main lobby a [... read more]nd buffet. Food - typical cuban resort food. Once you find something you like stick with it! As a vegetarian I was able to find a few things to eat at every meal. Can't say I was ever hungry. Bring snacks if you wish to have a lil something in between meals. A la carte restaurants should be reserved with guest services upon arrival. Drinks are fair. If at the bar by the pool or beach bring an insulated cup as the plastic cups are quite small. Entertainment - Unfortunately I didn't attend the late night shows in the theatre however the shows on the patio were lovely. The musicians and singers were fabulous, dancers were great. Beach activities were excellent!!! Peke and Charli and the lone female (apologies I cannot remember her name) did a great job getting activities started. Beach volleyball, beach yoga @ 9am, dance lessons on the beach at 10am and aquafit in the sea at 10:30am Beach/Pool - AMAZING BEACH!!! I would return to this resort for the beach alone. It was simply wonderful. Turquoise blue water, lil seaweed, enough sun loungers and umbrella's for everyone. Never had to fight for a spot. No bar on the beach but there is one not far away. Pool is lovely. Plenty of chairs and umbrella's by the pool. No swim up bar but there is a bar right beside the pool Grounds - immaculate. Staff maintaining the premises do an excellent job. Place is spotless. Every morning the ground keepers saw me outside and provided a fresh coconut for me to drink! Wifi - not free. One must purchase a wifi card at the front desk for 1 cuc. 1 card provides 1 hour of service. Only able to access in main lobby and by the pool. Servers/Bartenders - excellent job! They work very hard Overall this resort was great. Not too big and easy to walk about. Exactly what I was looking for. My only suggestion is if they could post a list of activities for the day in the lobby and maybe one other location. This way guests have an idea as to what is taking place, where and the time.

Palma Real: Worst hotel I've been to. We will Never return.

Many problems...It took us 3 days to get a room not on the ground level. Eventhough it was only 25% booked. First room had black mold so bad that a large part of the ceiling in various areas was falling apart. No warm let alone hot showers. No shower curtain and couldn't get an extra towel for the water on the floor. Could not lock patio door. Fridge, air conditioner did not work. Only light in bathroom. No lightbulbs available in the entire hotel for the bedside lights and the main light. Toile [... read more]t paper was very difficult to get from maids...had to take from the lobby bathrooms. A Huge cockroach in our room. And we keep our room very clean. The second room had all the same problems (including the cockroach). Then we had a leak from the ceiling vent that thank God I noticed before it soaked our luggage and everything in it! Then one leak from one corner of the vent turned into 3 leaks from 3 out of the 4 corners. The food was disgusting! And we are very accustomed to Cuban food. But this was horrible! And the one and only time (9th time to Cuba) that the food or drinks made my husband and I sick. When we stopped eating from the hotel completely our stomach's returned to normal. The dining room staff were great, accommodating and sweet.The a la cartes were horrible too! The drinks were awful. Only one bartender made a good pina colada...And the bar only had mint for Mojitos 3 days out of 14. Also the main lobby bar closes at 11pm and you had to go to the Havana club after that to get a drink. Which was full of Very young, immature, disrespectful people. Men slapping women, throwing drinks in faces, having sex in the bathrooms, etc. So once again we had to go off resort for drinks also...waste of "all inclusive". And we witnessed on our first night 5 "men" standing in a row at the edge of the pool openingly urinating into the pool. And many other activities in the pool other than swimming. Thank God we seen that before we used the pools...of course we didn't use the pools during our 2 week vacation...a lot of garbage and patio chairs in the pool every morning. Very little lighting throughout the resort (around pools, walking areas and hallways at night. Dangerous with all the uneven and broken pavement, steps ect. I guess Palma Real can't get light bulbs. Also security around the hotel was nonexistent. We faced the autopista (the inlet canal) and we sat on our balcony a lot (our light out there also did not work...Lol) and did not see one security guard do any security rounds that are supposed to be done minimum once an hour. We saw one man who looked like security once. But he did not see us (it was dark...) and he went below us to the main floor patio doors. Not sure what he was doing but he didn't seem to be acting like security...seemed to be checking if patio doors were locked. There were more problems with this hotel to even remember everything. We met other guests that had been going there for more than 10 years, 3-4 times/year and they all said eventhough they had long relationships with most of the staff, they too would not be returning. We went here 2 years ago and the decline in everything was shocking. If you want to eat, drink, shower, enjoy the pool and other all inclusive activities do not go to Palma Real. If we were forewarned of even half of the problems we would have booked at another hotel.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Amazing resort and amazing staff

We had been at this resort 7 years ago and everything is the same only better in that there have been some improvements with the physical appearance of the buildings. The staff is what really makes this resort a top notch resort!

Palma Real: Need improvement

Need to improve : mattress, wifi system and certainly the food!! Not enough chooses and variety!! In 2018 customers want fresh veggies , cooked veggies and meats!! Food often not warm enough!!! Stair's guards was broken and unsafe. Pool's edge was cracked and not repaired.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Still a good Resort

This was my second visit to the Sanctuary Grand Memories this year and unfortunately there has been a change in management which was very noticeable. The Sanctuary and the Gourmet restaurants are not the same in service and quality of the food as it was in March. Hopefully the management changes are corrected as this resort was amazing just a few months ago. We had two butlers, Noel and Gretchen. Noel on the other hand would avoid us and only asked once during our stay if there was anything he could do for us and that was at 4:30 pm. The rooms, beach, pool and the grounds are still spotless. The beach area at this resort is well maintained and beautiful. The gardener does a great job maintain the grounds and is often seen making little handmade gifts for the guests. All the snack bar staff were efficient and Roxana was very friendly and would always offer to bring your drink or food over to you. This is still a good resort and hopefully they will work out the management issues, overall it was still a relaxing vacation but defiantly not the same resort as it was in March

Roc Barlovento: Great friendly resort

Located in walking distance from public market, restaurants, cafés. Grounds and pools always clean, no children, great staff, beautiful beach with lots of sun chairs. Food is average for Cuba but good and fresh. Pool activities in afternoon and daily night show. Been at this resort 3 times and will go back next winter.

Club Tropical: Ok resort

Beach is great. Staff friendly. Food is not good basic. Rooms old. It’s a 2 star. Enjoyed my stay. Location is good .gardens r good. Need a bit more music during the day and night so some life around

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Slice of Paradise

Clean and well kept grounds. The Beach is lovely and water is clean and clear. Rooms are very clean and a/c works well. Food is what you would expect for Cuba. Tour guide Carlos to Havana is amazing.

Melia Marina Varadero: Unfortunately not as good as the add!

People in Cuba are very nice, always. We enjoyed the room which was clean but the balcony’s door didn’t close properly and the screen wasn’t working. The wifi didn’t work even though we bought a card with the password. And the food choice was terrible.

Hotel Tuxpan: 2star Resort Tuxpan Cuba

This resort requires a lot of maintenance. Upon arrival check in was very slow and did not go smoothly. We then proceed to our rooms on the fourth floor, there was only one working elevator out of four. The one could not go to the fourth floor, we had to haul our luggage up. The fourth floor had ver few working lights, it was so dark we could not see to put the key card in the door without a flash light, very eerie. We complained every day but this did not get resolved until our seventh day. The [... read more] cable cords are to short and we had to fix ours but even then it was to grainy to watch. The staff in all the restaurants were amazing and they helped to make our stay and our vacation very fun.

Hotel Tuxpan: Great vacation, moderate resort.

Having been to Cuba three times in the past 3 years, the previous trips where in April. This trip was in November and I realize that it was low season but the Tuxpan came up short. Soon check-in we realized that being put on the 4th floor and the elevator was broken so carrying suitcases up stairs was the only option. Elevated was broken most of our trip. Next morning reported that their where minimal hall lights on my floor ( one light for aprox. every 10 rooms ). I was told they knew that and  [... read more]would look into it 7 days later light was put in front of my room. Cable for tv was ripped out of wall and nothing but a bare wire to reinsert in but that was a minor fix by me. While having said that, the service staff in the resort (except front desk staff) where exceptional. They went above and beyond in every way.

Melia Marina Varadero: Will Never Stay There again or Recommend

We stayed at The Melia Marina Varadero from Nov 3.2018 to Nov 10.2018. My review will be in point form: - I liked the main lobby - the staff were friendly - if you want good service and good food book Levels for thos resort - our balcony door did not close so our room had to be changed - there was mold anf rusting in the rooms they have poor ventilation added to the fact that the shower area has no door to close it leaves the bathroom foggy and sweaty - this hotel was 5 years old in Aug [... read more]ust 2018 it looks like 15 years - there is poor lighting outside of the property my friend tripped on the step down to the pool there is no lighting at all and on our way back another vacationer fell flat on her face - the hotel has roaches and termites thankfully not in our room hut some fellow travellers we sat beside on the transfer back FINALLY - the food is horrible the sane food itemz repeated 3x a day - breakfast had sardines out of a tin...flies are all over the food - when you're ordering something from the grill ie. Pancakes or eggs or seafood you can see broken cracked tile in the kitchen huge turnoff I almost forgot....they brought a bottle of champagne to our room on Nov 7th. We enquired who was in our room after the maid left and no one told us. While the gesture was nice someone being around our items without notice is unnerving. Also they gave us a room to change on our last day after checkout the bedskirt had dirt on it the water settled while showering and didn't drain.. Gross. The people get a 4 but the hotel gets a 2.8

Hotel Tuxpan: Amazing resort

Hi we stay at this resort one week and let tell you we love it my room was always nice and clean the people from the lobby bar they were the best the restaurant also the best the beach life guards they were the best I will go back in feb. next year un abraço para todos lós trabajadores del hotel felix

Palma Real: GHETTO PARTY HAVEN

This place is perfect for partying. That's about it. If you're in the mood for loud music from 9am until 6am this is the place! You can't get rest here. You can only drink until your liver fails and breathe in the sweet smell of mold in your room. Make sure to remember to bring your own queen bedsheet and towel so you don't have to sleep and wash in bloodstained linens!! Good party though so make sure you don't drink for a month so you don't die!!!!

Playa Vista Azul: Pleasant surprise

I was sceptical on booking a Cuba trip as I had heard that the food and drinks were not the best. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of both the food selection and quality as well as the beverage selection. The staff was great and very friendly. The lobby entertainment was great. If I had to pick something that was not over the top I would have to say the beach. The hotel was on a cliff and the beach was off to each side so it was a little awkward to walk far.

Memories Jibacoa: Great Relaxing Resort

Small Resort surrounded by beautiful mountains very picturesque..needs some work especially the showers in the rooms, but I have been told that will be completed in the spring 20!9. Pool was beautiful, Beach was gorgeous! Staff all amazing! Drinks plentiful. Spanish Coffees out of this world. Buffet needs a bit of improvement, but they were working on it. Al la Carte dinners were excellent!...Deserts out of this world. Very clean resort. I was impressed how well they spoke English and fluent G [... read more]erman. Hiking Tour, walking tour through the mountains breathtaking! Trip to Havana well worth it....I must compliment the Managers. They were so involved in all the different activities, halloween, beach party etc...They went to all the A la Carte dinners and asked all the guests if they were satisfied, if anything was lacking...suggestions for improvements etc. They were totally involved 24 hours a day! Kiki and company were awesome. Thank you for taking the time to chat with us and making our stay so comfortable. FYI: Wifi available in room, balcony, pool , lobby and beach area.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Amazing TIme

Just got Back from an amazing week away. The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms need to be updated a bit. Staff were amazing for the entire week From the maids to the bartenders and servers, and can not forget the entertainers who put on performances everywhere in the resort. Weather was excellent and the beach is what you go on vacation for in Cuba.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Paradise

6th trip to Iberostar Varadero and is just as beautiful as the first time. The food is great as is the beach and pools. I love this place and look forward to going back for our 7th trip. I love lberostar Varadero so much to do there and any children there seem to love it. I see them on stage before the entertainment all having so much time. Hopefully l can bring my grandchildren some day. Also very romantic for couples. Sisters Diane and Donna from Hamilton Ontario.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Fun trip. With issues

We love this hotel, the location the beach are second to none. We were fans of the former Hotel Internacional and the beach is the same being 500 yards away. Requests for rooms are not given even if you request three months out. I have worked in hotels for over forty years. If the hotel cares it happens. Our hotels make everyone happy, if the unusual happens and we can't fulfil (almost never) we compensate somehow.
