Melia Buenavista: Beautiful resort!

We stayed in a Junior Suite on a second floor, which we asked for. The room was perfect, and loved the outdoor shower! We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food, however, it was clear that there are lots of shortages still. We are beach people, and it was a challenging trek through the sand to the palapas on the clothing optional beach. Plenty of palapas and our "beach boy" was very attentive when he saw us every morning. We had lunch at the grill bar by the main pool...get there when it opens, or you'll miss out on the specials! It's very popular. Our butlers, Yani and Daymi, were gems. We especially want to thank Yani for her special send off on the Sunset Beach on our last night there...very unexpected. It's a very quiet resort, but there is entertainment at the Lobby Bar every night. Some excellent musicians!

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: The best resort we have ever been to in Cuba. This was our 15th time

The bus ride from Santa Clara airport is 1.5 hours. Check-in was fast The rooms are still looking new and have a balcony. We were in the main building with an elevator. Other buildings are 3 story with no elevator. Younger staff, they all seem happy. Great service! The food is cuban, we had lots of fresh vegetables and some fruit on the buffet. Roast pork seems to be the meat of choice. No pasta at the main buffet, but they had good lasagna at the snack bar. We brought some paper plates wi [... read more]th us so we could get a salad from the main buffet and a sandwich from the snack bar and eat on the beach:) The beach is gorgeous and the ocean is very calm almost like a lake. Pools are also great with lots of shade and chairs available. There were 7 of us ranging from 1-65 years old and we were all very happy.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Amazing resort

This resort was by far the best resort we have ever stayed at in Cuba. The staff made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in until the final moment of departure, the beach was spectacular . The room was nice with an ocean view. The food was good didn't go hungry by any means always could find something, even if it was the same everyday.The beach bar was our favorite thanks to" Javier " always a great time and loads of laughs. 10/10 in our books.would recommend this resort to anyone.

Sol Palmeras: Sol Palmaris Resort in Cuba

The resort is very clean and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent at all restaurant's as well at the buffets. Water activities were very good. I did have trouble locating the instructor that teach you to wear and use the deep sea diving equipment in the swimming pool. I never did locate this person. The swimming pools were excellent. We were book in a bungalow which is very far from the main lobby and all the restaurants. I did request something close during my booking but did not [... read more] get it so I moved my family the next day to a much closer room. My wife fell after our evening dinner and needed some medical attention. The medical room was locked and no one had access to it. They did have a first aid kit at the customer service office but all they had was a bottle of peroxide. I am a certified first aider and I could have used better cream, gauzes and bandages to help my wife. There was plenty of entertainment at the resort with signing, dancing and instrumental music. The beaches were clean with plenty of chairs and shade trees to sit under to listen to the ocean.

Grand Memories Holguin: Bad food resort

Many times we have found not fresh food. No fish. No shrimps. Billiards are not working as sticks broken. No tenis master. Internet is bad. Location is bad as everytime windy. But hotel is new. Clean. Service people is very good.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Ensenachos is still terrific

We visited Iberostar Ensenachos in late February 2023 and stayed in the Park section; it was our 9th visit, first since Covid. The resort was half full, which meant no crowds in the buffet or on the beaches, but also fewer services: for example, less entertainment in the lobby at night, seemed like reduced menus at the pool and beach grills. We lunched in the buffet most days. Our room was fine, though the furniture is getting tired: some chips, drawers that didn’t quite fit. Several build [... read more]ings were not open and were being renovated. Canned drinks are no longer being stocked in the room fridges, supposedly for environmental reasons. Water was in reusable glass bottles. Overall the food was good, but with odd shortages; one day there was no bread. Likewise at the bar - very little in the way of liqueurs. We stuck to rum drinks. The beaches are the main attraction of this resort and they are still amazing.

Starfish Jibacoa: Paradise

For my first time in Cuba it was awesome, no complaints at all. One just needs to adjust to Cuba being poor. I do want to return maybe next year . Have talked to friends about it and next year 3 want to join me and my husband.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Great location, But.

Food was OK, mostly bland but knew that from previous visits. Shortage on lots of items. No eggs for breakfast. Staff was great, but there were frequent power outages, and they turned the water off between 2am and 5am. very inconvenient. Resort definitely needs a reno, lots of broken things, no handle on patio door, with no handle made almost impossible to latch. Low water pressure. Room very dark, some lights worked others didn't. Toilet not secured to floor properly, and shower control h [... read more]andle keep falling of. Nightly entertainment in the front lobby was great, to bad they don't enforce the no smoking rules in this area, had to leave because of the cigar and cigarette smoke.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Awesome resort

The hotel is very nice the have the best beaches I’ve ever seen the people were outstanding couldn’t of asked for a better vacation the food was good and the rooms were very nice the view from our room was amazing

Melia Las Americas: Great Resort

Hotel had beautiful grounds , friendly helpful staff, and lovely rooms . We stayed at the level area. Food was good. The beach and ocean were amazing . Pools were very well kept . We definitely will come back again.

Hotel Bella Costa: Terrible resort but people great

This hotel needs major work. Air conditioner broke, door wouldn't lock and cockroaches in room. No ice machine broke, no white wine, gin, vodka and butter only at breakfast. Food was awful. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Only good thing was beach and weather. The people are very friendly but don't have a lot to work with.

Melia Internacional: Hotel and property was nice

The hotel was nice and the staff was great. The food was so so but came as no surprise. Selection is tough to get in Cuba. Not the hotels fault. The only issue we had was when we tried to eat outside the hotel. You run out of cash quickly and there is no restaurants in town that will take any credit cards.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not great!

The best part of the holiday was the warm weather:) we arrived very late @12:30AM . the guy dropped us to the place where the building was, there was no light to see where we were going (We are seniors! )Plus they put us on the 3rd floor! We had problems with the safe , the shower as the doors couldn’t close so water accumulated on the floor outside, the balcony door was impossible to open , etc…. This cost us half a day , breakfast and lunch ,as we had to wait for maintenance!. The front [... read more] desk is not too efficient as they say ok and nothing happened! we had to check back twice later and on the third try they told my husband to got to a room at the side and speak to public relations. He(Pub.Rel.) said no one told him and our name was not on the list of problems!! On the brighter side the guy who fixed the shower door etc was very good as he fixed it all. However not a good way to start a vacation is it? .They never replaced our bath towel mat or the face towel ( which they took away because it was soaked with water ) all the time we were there. We found it was no use to complain! we had to use our bath towels the whole week as they said they had no clean towels!! All else was ok with small issues but after the start we had we expected to have issues.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Amazing resort and staff

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: A wonderful time!

This is a super clean, meticulously maintained resort with everything you need for a wonderful vacation! There are a few pools, a few restaurants, a beautiful beach, live-music going on all the time in various places. There’s a kareoke bar, a disco, a market with vendors available some days, a gift shop, games room, etc. Truly everything you need. The staff are warm and welcoming and everyone works so hard to make this a top-notch place. I was hoping to pick shells and I didn’t see any except some really tiny ones, but that’s ok. The water is a bit chilly at the time of year we were there (end of February), but it’s worthwhile to hop in. The beach closer to the VIP section is the nicest in my opinion. So super clean. We spent some time on the other side of the beach one day near the end of the day and there were a lot of cigarette butts in the sand which is not the staffs fault, there are ash trays literally everywhere but people weren’t using them and just throwing the butts in the sand, which I found very sad and disrespectful to both the environment and the staff. The staff and the hotel tries its best, and there are always workers about cleaning things non-stop. I would recommend coming to the beach earlier in the day and going to the far end near the VIP section/ snack bar if you’re worried about stepping on cigarette butts. It’s gorgeous through everywhere. The pools are beautiful, we mainly spent time at the main pool. There seems to be Zumba everyday in the morning there and sometimes live music. They had a foam party one day that was lots of fun! The pools are super clean and wonderful. If you can score a sun bed it is the ultimate in relaxation! We were able to hang out in a cabana a couple of times during our stay and we got one of the sun beds one day as well. These are both such nice places to relax. The swim up bar is fun, there’s a little jacuzzi type pool too with jets that’s nice to relax in. The pools are great! My birthday was on the Saturday we were on vacation and the staff went above and beyond. They baked me a cake, sang me happy birthday and gave me a bottle of sparkling wine. So sweet. I felt very spoiled! A lot of people complain about the food in Cuba but I always found something to eat at this resort. I ate a lot of rice, beans, salad and fruit. I really enjoyed the omelettes every morning, pancakes, scrambled eggs. The shish kabobs were really good too. The chicken dishes at the a la cartes were really good, and the spaghetti was really good as well. I liked the food and I loved the service by all staff who were excellent. The only issue I have is that we were really hoping to get to the Japanese a la carte but we were told when we came that it was booked solid but that we could come on Sunday morning to see if we could get a reservation for it for the following week. The lady at the desk mixed up the days though, she told us Sunday and it was actually Sunday so by the time we came back early Sunday morning to book, the Japanese restaurant had been fully booked again. So, for anyone reading, please remember it’s Saturday and not Sunday when the following weeks reservations start to book. I really wish I had known. It was a very unfortunate mix up. We had friends who went to the Japanese restaurant and they said it was amazing! I was really hoping to get there for my birthday. We went to the roof top bar a couple of times and it is lovely! If you’re going, make sure to go when the sun is setting to see the spectacular sun set! Also, try the daiquiri! It tastes like slushy lemonade and the price is very reasonable at $2.75 US. The marguerita was only very good, very authentic. My partner had the mojitos there and they were delicious too! It’s a beautiful spot. Both times we went it wasn’t crowded either, so it’s a nice place to relax. Also, it’s important to note that there are no bugs anywhere!! Seriously! This was a big concern of mine! I read a lot of resort reviews before choosing this place and I saw all kinds of reviews about bugs from other hotels. I saw horror stories about cockroaches in food, bed bugs, sand lice causing rashes all over people’s bodies, mosquitos, noseums. THERE ARE NO BUGS HERE! I saw one large cricket at the top of a stair well one day, and also a couple of flying things in the middle of the day at the pool that looked like honey bees. But that’s really nothing! This hotel is truly spotless. Some nights I was out at the kareoke bar until 3am and I didn’t see any mosquitos even. So, if you don’t like creepy crawlies, this place is for you! With all the outdoor space and gardens I thought I would see more bugs but no. This is a wonderful, big free zone and I think most of Holguin may be like this. But it could just be that this hotel is super great at cleaning, which I do definitely think is part of it. Also, the rooms are beautiful, comfortable and very clean. The AC is very cold unless you adjust the temp, but you can do that yourself as there is a thermostat in the room. The room has central air too which is nice. Oh, also. Your bed will come with just a sheet. There is a cover in the closet! We didn’t realize this and were very chilly the first night. The closet also has comfy bath robes. Make sure to find that blanket before you go to bed! Lol. Overall, this was our first time being to Cuba and we absolutely loved both Cuba and this resort. We met some new friends while there and had a great time! Just as a small heads up, just because I didn’t read this in any review prior to coming, I thought I’d mention that we experienced a few black outs during the week we were there. It isn’t a big deal, it did affect the lights and the wifi. It is not an issue with the hotel, it is an issue with the region in general. One of the black outs happened about 15 minutes after we had arrived at the hotel around 7:30pm when it was already fully dark outside, we had just got into our room and I was just opening my suitcase as everything went pitch black. Because I wasn’t aware of the black outs I didn’t know what was going on. The black out didn’t last long, we just went into the lobby where it was a little brighter for a bit. I was just really taken by surprise. Then there was another black out for a few hours during the day one day, and another one that happened just as we were getting to the breakfast buffet. The generator went on at the buffet but then as I was waiting for an omelette the generator went off. The staff are really awesome though. The man at the omelette station still made my omelette with the power off, which is definitely above and beyond service! Anyhow, it’s not a big deal at all, I just wish I had known about the possibility that black ours could happen so I wasn’t so surprised the first time. It’s definitely manageable and it wouldn’t have stopped me from coming to the hotel. Here are some suggestions for food and drink that I have based on our stay: Drinks: - pina coladas are delicious - rum punch - mojito - there was a blue drink I received one day when I ordered a rum punch and it was amazing, I’m sure someone knows how to identify it, lol - daiquiri (roof bar) - margherita (roof bar) Food: - tuna sandwich at the snack bar - omelette - the fried eggs are cooked perfectly - pizza (if you can get it) - shish kabobs - mushroom soup (a la carte) - minestrone soup ( a la carte - curry chicken (international restaurant) - spaghetti bolognese (at Italian a La carte) - minestrone soup - all the rice - chicken Gordon blue (inside snack bar during the day- it’s the international restaurant at night) Anyhow, I always found food I liked. There’s lots to choose from! The only thing I would bring with me is butter packets as I do like to butter my bread, rolls and mayonnaise is not something I’m interested in doing this with. Overall, if you’re on the fence, just book this place, it’s beautiful, clean, amazing with everything you need to have fun and relax! You will fall in love with the beach, and Cuba!

Gran Muthu Imperial: Quiet resort

Very clean, good service, very friendly staff, No vendors on beach or property. Only negative was that at poolside the music could have been not so loud!! This resort opened in November and not all buildings were open. Maintenance was slow in getting problems resolved. Felt very safe there.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great stay

Memories flamenco cayo coco .the resort is on the best beach in cayo coco great for hanging out at your beach or a walk to either point. The hotel is in need of some love but over all the rooms were ok the AC worked well and had plenty of hot water. As for food there were plenty of options and you could always find something. The staff were all friendly and had to work with what they had. Overall we had a good visit.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Fabulous resort

This resort was truly amazing. The staff, restaurants, villas, bars , entertainment ,pools and beach were all top notch! This was our first time but we were already planning to return before we left. Thank you for an amazing holiday at Brisas!

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great Resort

Friendly staff where ever you went. Whether you were at the beach, restaurant, bar or any facilities there was always a helpful hand. We booked restaurants in advance of our arrived and our reservations were ready for us on arrival. The rooms were clean and well maintained. A great beach with lots of chairs to choose from and the pool was clean and inviting. Had a wonderful time.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great resort!!

Staff,beach,pool was amazing. Rooms need a little update but they were still very nice!! The food was good at this resort considering it is cuba. The bus ride is a little long but is fully worth it once you get there!!
