Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Very Nice resort

Travelling as a couple, no kids. Well kept very clean resort. Great for families. Excellent service everywhere we went, little to no wait at any of the restaurants we went to. However, a big drawback for us was that the beach was very rocky. Getting in and out of the water was not an easy stroll in and out as there were long stretches of rocks that were a couple of feet drop or step up. Definitely need water shoes! Also for us, the alcohol choices were limited. Most of the mixed drinks all tas [... read more]ted the same with that super sweet sugary taste. But overall, this is a beautiful resort.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Amazing resort with the best service around!

Everything from start to finish was absolutely amazing! Every where you went the service was amazing. Everyone was very helpful and kind. The gated community of puerto Aventuras was probably the best part. We walked down to the strip of restaurants and shops a couple nights and felt just as safe as Canada. Everyone was friendly and not pushy when it came to the shops

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Nice resort but not 5 star.

This resort was a series of hits and misses. For example, the activity pool which offered some of the cooler activities was out of commission... miss, but the buffet was delicious, varied it's content, well maintained and clean... hit. On the other hand the beach was overrun with seaweed... miss, but had ample seating and an excellent balance of shade & sun PLUS super beach bar service... hits. The room was large and clean enough... hit, but did not contain a full length mirror... miss. [... read more] The spa was disappointing. We booked a couples massage and the last 10 minutes of the treatment it became very apparent that both masseuses were more interested in the silent conversation they were holding than completing our treatments as their hands stopped moving entirely so that they could focus on one another rather than on us... miss, however our subsequent pedicures with the fish tank was amazing... a giant hit. The ATM in the lobby would not accept my cc and the front desk was completely useless and uninterested in assisting me in obtaining any cash... massive miss. To be clear, the card worked seamlessly everywhere BUT the hotel sanctioned ATM. Other misses in my opinion were that the a-la-carte restaurants did not offer any vegan options, nor did the snack buffets. Overall a nice place to stay. No the 5 stars they claim to be though... more like 3 1/2.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Perfect for any group!!

We had an unbelievable time. Royal plan COMPLETELY worth it. We were incredibly spoiled with luxury everywhere no only in room, surrounding flora and fauna but also by the wonderful staff. Happy all the time it seemed. Incredibly clean resort. Buffets good but restaurants spectacular. Travelled with our 2 girls,10 and 11yrs. Lots to do never, a dull moment if you are looking to stay on the move. But plenty of day beds to do absolutely nothing on other than watch the ocean.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Wonderful getaway!

We went as a couple, my husband and I, just to unwind and take in some sun. Service was 5 star, never waited for tables or drinks, waiters very attentive! Rooms always cleaned and made up so wonderfully and promptly each day. Staff super helpful and friendly. We stayed in the platinum section and were pleased with the location and short walk to restaurants and beach. Completely surpassed my expectations as I had read some questionable reviews. The only negative comment would be that the beach f [... read more]ront is rocky entering the water and some days there can be a lot of washed up seaweed, but that's an issue that the entire shoreline of playa del carmen battles with and not much the resort can do about! And so they make up for it in all the other areas! As for swimming in the ocean we simply walked 1 minute down the beach to the grand princess section (which you have access to and all the amenities there as well!!) and their beach is super easy and fun to swim from! We had a great time and have zero complaints and no regrets! Super relaxing and just the right amount of quiet time mixed with some enjoyable entertainment.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Top notch service!

That's what you can expect when you stay at Now Sapphire! Staff was amazing and service was outstanding. Everyone was cheerful, friendly and helpful. Grounds were amazing, pool was beautiful and the beach was lovely. They were battling seaweed while we were there which made it undesirable to go in the ocean. Food was good! Lots of choices! Great family holiday. Would definitely recommend!

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Paradisus playa del Carmen la perla

The entire grounds in resort was in exquisite order, trimmed tidy. All in all well kept. Food was beyond excellent. Cannot say enough about the staff. They all went over and above to make our stay unforgettable.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Beautiful Resort

Very enjoyable, stress-free experience made possible by excellent staff, pristine grounds and great food. Buffets were very good and restaurants were good as well. Disappointed to see most restaurants less than half full considering difficulty in getting reservations.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Not as advertised

Trip Central and Air Canada were excellent, booking and flights were without hassle and on time. However, beware of the fine print. Having stayed in a number of Adult Only Resorts, this Sandos advertises an adult only section,which is accurate. But, they fail to mention that the restaurants are not adult only. In fact my wife and I sat next to a screaming child at dinner one evening. Don't go here if you are expecting an adult only experience. Also, I don't understand why there was canned beer [... read more] in my room, and available at 2 Select Club bars, but the bartenders refused to give us canned beer at the beach or pool? The final item which I detested was the seemingly endless sales pitch by the Sandos staff. First of all, they ask you to visit the "travel desk" to book return transportation to the airport, but the real intent is to sell you an excursion. They also ask you to visit guest services for a tour of the resort, again, the real intent is to sell you a time-share. Same deal at the pool, always being asked to go on a boat trip or get a massage. I don't want to be bothered on vacation, they should make you aware of the amenities, but not ask everyday.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Fantastic, in every way!

Sandos Playacar is an amazing resort. It's beautiful - everywhere. The beaches are spectular as are the pools and grounds. It's property, grounds, pools and buildings are spacious, the restaurants are fantastic and the staff are welcoming, warm and attentive. Our first visit at the beginning the first of March 2019 and we are already planning on getting a group together for next year!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Fell in love with this place!

We loved everything about this resort! The lush tropical feel, the access to multiple resorts, the outstanding service and the fantastic food! The only thing we would change is the distance from the airport. It took over an hour, but was still well worth it! We already look forward to returning!

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: terrific vacation destionation

A wonderful resort. The rooms, staff, food and service were spot on. It is rather large, so walking is required for almost anything. The dining was excellent. We tried all 4 of the available buffets, all were great. My husband did miss beef. It wasn't well prepared - usually tough. Everything else was delicious. We always found pool lounges, beach chairs, beach towels in generous supply. Drinks were good. Entertainment was good. The last nights of our stay were a bit spoiled by the "ove [... read more]r flow" of college age people, on March break. Check travel times to avoid these few March weeks, and you will have an enjoyable, restful stay.

Grand Sunset Princess: A wonderful trip from beginning to end

My husband and I traveled to this resort from Vancouver BC for my birthday celebration & to relax and unwind. We traveled with Sunwing and had no issues with the airline there and back. We opted to book Canada Transfers from Cancun airport to the resort & used them for the return trip as well. Canada Transfers was a great experience, from the greeter, to the driver. Friendly and professional. When we arrived at the resort, it was exactly as seen in the photos, gorgeous and huge. (Even though the resort was big, we found multiple little areas to lounge quietly by ourselves). The front bellman asked us where we were staying on the resort which was the Sunset Platinum section. We were whisked away within minutes to the Platinum Lobby. Check in was easy and took a very short time. (We also enjoyed a nice welcome drink while checking in). Our luggage was brought to our room 5 minutes after we got in. The room was lovely and spacious & we enjoyed the outdoor Jacuzzi a few time during the trip. The Royal Holiday staff were all over the place, but were respectful and nice. You just had to give a firm, no thank you. Food: We enjoyed the Sunset Buffet at the main lobby our first night & it was delicious, but after that evening we chose to go the restaurants. Our favorites were the Steak House, La Fleur, Mama Mia. We also attended the Platinum Gala on the Thursday night at the Snack Riviera with a set menu & was wonderful, with live musicians and delicious food. For lunches we loved the taco cart by the tequila pool & the hamburger cart by the fantasy pool. We had room service for breakfast everyday and the Platinum lobby lounge has great snacks throughout the day to enjoy. (loved the little sandwiches at lunch time if we were still hungry). There was no way you could go hungry at this resort, with so many options available. We also visited the ice cream parlor once during our stay on the family club side which was a treat. Overall: The platinum area at the beach was beautiful & we never had trouble finding two loungers in the shade & we went down there after lunch at times. The beach itself was beautiful & the seaweed didn't bother us, it is mother nature after all. The spa at this resort is amazing! We ended up spending a few hours a day over a three day period enjoying some of the services. The Hydro therapy circuit, massages and relaxation room were on my top 10 spa experiences. There was lots to see and do on the resort & my favorite part was seeing the silly cute coaties. The cats were sweet & the iguanas very regal and interesting. We did manage to see a turtle in the lagoon & several pelicans, but no crocodile or spider monkey's on this trip. Staff: The staff working at this resort were so humble, sincere, kind and hardworking. I wish we could have gotten everyone's names to list, but for those I haven't named below, thank you for making our trip so great. Everyone had a smile, and went above and beyond to help at every turn. Here are a few people that we did write down who made the stay special; Hector & Gloria (platinum concierge) Manu (platinum front desk) All of the inter resort shuttle drivers Jorge, Martinez & Acosta (Spa masseuse) Daniel (Front desk Spa) Fernando (Steak House Snack Riviera) Blanca & Manual (Mama Mia) Veronica (Maid, loved the daily towel animals! She did such a great job with our room & was exceptionally friendly) And finally Addy from Royal Holiday. I know these guys don't work for the resort but she was a spitfire & we enjoyed chatting with her. She tried hard to get us to go on a tour (which we didn't do), and even when she knew we weren't interested she spent time joking & having fun with us. Would we go back: I think we will go back one day & when we do we'll try the Laguna Villas. In the meantime, there are so many resorts in Mexico we might try a different one next time.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Relaxing!

This resort has a much quieter vibe than those on the other side of the highway. Internal trolley transportation is excellent, so never an inconvenience to travel to beach, restaurants shopping area. Food and service top notch. Loved the yoga in the residential area that is adjacent to Sian Ka'an, and available to resort guests.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Paradise Found

Large resort, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, great service from courteous staff. Generous a la carts (5 per wk) and well prepared, tasty food with a good variety. Lovely sandy beach with just a few occasional rocky areas, plenty of palm trees, lounges and cabanas to provide shade- endless sculpted pools. We found the “colonial” was centrally located to everything ( buffets, theatre, shopping mall, etc) and by far had the better beach! Would definitely return to this resort!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: It was ok.

The resort is beautiful, everything I wanted in a resort, jungle, animals,cenotes,beaches waterslides, and old ruins which was wonderful to see. Unfortunately the services were lacking, we had a upgraded room with 24 hour room service, but you had to call and call and call to get it. And if you were lucky they actually brought it. You couldn't just go get ice room service had to bring it, me and my husband were kind of sick there ( maybe bad food or swimming in the cenote) anyways we needed ic [... read more]e for ice water cause all the water supplied in the room is warm. We ordered it a couple times and never came. Then I was determined to get ice so I called and ordered it didn't come 3 hours later I went down to the front desk to just get some they couldn't let us do that someone had to bring it. After 7 hours after my first request it finally came. We booked a cenote tour when we got there they didn't have enough equipment so told us to come back the next day meanwhile we had planned most of the day around that. Our room smelled moldy but I aired it out it got a bit better, but we had a serious ant problem like they would crawl on you in the middle of the night and freak you out, I talked to someone about it and nothing was ever done. My mini fridge was restocked once in the whole trip I asked for it to be restocked three time they never did, I gave up complaining. And the last day I was walking through a path and came across a small cenote the gates were open for it and there were no signs saying don't swim in there, the only signs we seen were instructions on how to swim in it (like no sunscreen and stuff) so we swam then some guy came along and had a fit at us for swimming in there. A simple you can swim in there would have been fine but he was rude and mean. The restaurants were ok, I liked the Italian one the best, the Mexican one was the worst. Restaurant staff were pleasant. Like I said I loved the facilities but not the service. Probably the worst service I have recieved out of the 5 other resorts I have been to in the Rivera Mya, Don't buy the upgraded room it's a waste of money. Really loved my travel agent though.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: One Word - Incredibly

We stayed at Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort (ABBWR) from March 7-14, 2019. This was our third visit to this resort. With a big smile and an even bigger hug we were welcomed back by one of my favourite people on the resort, Luis. Check in was a breeze, and were assigned room 3121. I had emailed in the resort about 2 weeks in advance requesting a higher up corner room with a king bed in building 3 or 4. That’s exactly what we got. There may be a few that aren’t as good as others on the ground floor, but even those rooms face the ocean and have nice views of the grounds. There really isn’t a bad view here. There are robes and slippers in the room on arrival for use during your stay. You also get a reusable bag in your room that is great to use at the beach or on excursions. There is a hair dryer, loofah as well as the usual shampoo’s and that sort of thing. The beds are very comfortable with lots of pillows. There is flat screen TV in the room and books with lots of info in them. The sofa could easily be another bed. The mini fridge is well stocked. There is a small coffee maker with all the required amenities for your morning cuppa. Our room was kept spotless all week. There are four a la cartes, one buffet, a snack bar and the sushi bar. The buffet is always good. I can’t say enough about how well stocked up they keep the trays. Nothing is empty for long - ever! Morning bacon, never a problem unlike most other places we have been. We love the new smoothie bar and brick oven pizza station! We ate at the Gourmet and Rodizzio this trip. Both were great. The Gourmet is the only a la carte where men need long pants, which was great. Basically other than that one place the evening dress code would be casual summer dining. Drinks are fantastic. If they don’t have your drink of choice, tell them how to make it and they will look after you. I really like that you can get Dos Equis Amber, my beer of choice in Mexico, on request. There are three bars right on the beach/pool area as well as a bar at the snack bar, the main bar and the Patio bar. There are wait staff on the beach and at the pool area to look after you. When we booked this resort the first time it was the snorkeling that drew us here. We had visited Akumal Beach for snorkeling a number of times before actually staying here. My husband just loves it. It makes him so happy to explore the reefs and see the turtles. Nightly, there is live music up at the main bar area. No cheesy resort shows here. The staff here are part of what makes this resort and the guest experience so special. They are amazing. I have to mention Emanuele and Corinna, they made this trip extra wonderful for us. So many little things that just made our week so special. We used to be people who never returned to the same place twice but now it seems we have found a home away from home.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Ok resort

It was too big staff rarely said hello had to avoid time share people when we to the buffet. I got a stomach flu where I was in bed for 2 days and it never really went away. Entertainment was good room was big food was Ok until I got sick then I couldn't eat at all. Also to many smokers near the lobby. I was expecting better service for a 4.5 star. Over all I would not go back.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Best kids resort in Mexico!

Everything about this resort was perfect! First of all for the parents they have the 24hr coffee shop with lattes, cappuccinos, and all the sweet treats. The bars and waitstaff are eager to please and the drinks and alcohol selection is excellent. The buffet food is amazing with lots of selection and quality offerings; prime rib, sirloin roast, tacos, sushi, pasta, pizza, local and international fish, pad thai, ribs, salad bar, bread bar and dessert bar. There are numerous a la cartes as well an [... read more]d booking is seamless through the concierge located in each building. The kids have endless things to do; wave pool, lazy river, pirate ship water park, and kids club. The kids club is brand new and absolutely phenomenal with indoor and outdoor playgrounds, trampoline room, gaming consoles, stage with costumes and even a DJ booth for the older kids. Everything is clean and safe and staff are excellent both in the kids club and all over the resort, they'll make you and your kids feel like royalty, especially the highly energetic entertainment team, I dont think they even sleep! The grounds, pools and common areas are absolutely immaculate and manicured to perfection. Even the wildlife love this place with birds, coati and capybara wandering about for all to enjoy.

Food and staff were great. Beautifill grounds and amazing facilities only 2 complaints too long to walk to the beach was promissed a bottle of tequila in my room. It never arrived even after requesting it 3 times
