Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Fabulous Resort and Beach!

The beach offers a variety of activities - swimming area, catamaran, pedal boats, kayaks, and a reef for snorkelling. The resort was great, two pools, 24 hour food and alcohol, clean rooms and great staff!

The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana: The service at the reserve restaurant was not good

Reserve restaurant and buffets lacked service and support. The ommellette chef never had plates or ingredients to make omelletes and little to no support staff. The mini bar never stocked, and most times needed to call for refill.

Melia Cayo Coco: Nice

Nice but desperately needs upgrades Needs maintenance of rooms Needs fresh line news and towels. Food good Service good Needs new law chairs Good vacation Nice that close to airport We like all adult Second time for us at resort..may go back if upgrades and maintenances done

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Good resort for fair price

Very nice beach there are. Send and water are amazing. Friendly, not annoy staff. Food is monotone, but good enough. Fish and seafood present on a menu what been surprise for Cuban resort. Rooms for 3 stars hotel.

Melia Jardines del Rey: The resort has lots of potential

Melia Jardines del Ray has the potential to be a beautiful resort once it matures. The staff where the best of the best!! Drinks where very good and the food was good. Feugo a la cart was amazing, they provided a birthday cake and sang happy birthday for my sisters 50th birthday!! It was so nice. I would go back again if it was a decent price

Melia Peninsula Varadero: got salmonella and a parasite

Beautiful resort. They need to improve on food and sanitary cooking. Both husband and I got sick. He was the 5 out of 7 days we were there. Won't be back to Cuba. We gave them a second chance. Beach and people were great.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Wonderful

Bring fly repellent and water shoes. The beach is lovely but coral out in the water. The staff are friendly and hard working. There are lots of places for shade on the beach but around the main pool not as much.

Sol Cayo Coco: A little treasure

The staff make the difference with Sol. They are humble, entertaining and welcoming. They remember small acts of kindness and most greet you with a wide smile. Sol is a small, older resort, often referred to as a boutique resort. The staff work hard to maintain the resort but it does show it's age in some areas. They have been making a number of improvements and branding the resort for everyone. The resort being small, is easy to get around for those with mobility issues. There is access to two  [... read more]different beaches and two other hotels. The food is fine with a variety of theme nights. The fresh fish at the beach restaurant is excellent. Maintenance staff are very responsive when repairs are needed and the cleaners, gardeners, animation team. wait and bar staff, reception and entertainers all do a good job with some excelling at customer service. We will be back.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice Big Resort

Nice modern resort , food was pretty good for Cuba , rooms were spacious, beach was good in places. drinks were good,especially the specialty coffee ones. Very nice lobby and lobby bar. Would return to this resort.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Absolutely Beautiful Resort!

What a wonderful resort! Would definitely stay again. Even though it was a very large resort it did no feel that way. There was always lots of room and huts available on the amazing beach. Must see!!!

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Resort was truly amazing

I have not one complaint to make about my holiday. It was 100%. It was so good all round. Great food. I have never met such lovely people.really helpful and always smiling.lt was a holiday of a lifetime for me.l felt safe and very comfortable. The staff would go out of their way to help. Nothing was a problem.

Melia Las Antillas: Relaxing and enjoyable time

Booked 10 days with concierge service. This package had some extras that provided an enhanced check-in (although we missed our welcome drink) and pre booked al a cartes so we didn't have to stand in line. It also offers a continental breakfast which was not that appealing but allowed us to get coffee and juice prior to going to the buffet. Our initial impression of the room was disappointing as it just seemed blah and dated. Bathroom had some mold issues. However as time went on and we experienc [... read more]ed the rest of the resort we were more comfortable in the room. The expected 'oceanview' was a small peek through the trees as we were on the 4th floor - view from 5th floor was much better. The resort itself is quite wonderful. Could see lots of improvement work ongoing with painting and path stone work. The beach of course was fantastic. We conceded to claiming chairs early in the morning - something I have always been against but otherwise with no shade it was just to hot to any spend quality time on the beach. They were in the process of adding additional cabanas. Not much time spent at the pool but it was very nice. Exchanging $ was easy and never a long wait. For the first time we needed to seek medical attention and this went very well . Note - you have to pay cash up front then get reimbursed by your health plan at home. Buffet and bar service - this varied day to day. Exceptional on some days but often we sat and never got served. No real issue - we just went to the bar ourselves. Buffet food was okay/ average. Great omelets though. We really enjoyed all the al a cartes and the acoustic musicians were A 1. Evening entertainment at the lobby bar was not up to par for Cuba - more on the electronic side and not all that professional. Annoying actually. No comparison to what we experienced on previous trips. The later nightly entertainment shows were away from the main hotel so we actually only say one - an aquatic show in the pool which was very good. All in all we were able to relax, enjoy the surroundings, meet new friends and again enjoy the Cuban vibe and people. I would recommend this resort with some reservations around the room and service.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Sol Rio de Luna y Mares Review

My family and I stayed at the Sol Rio de Luna y Mares for a week and we had an amazing time! The rooms were nice and clean with quick access to the pool and beach. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. They served us promptly and with care. The animation teams were very exciting to watch. Our favorite to watch was the aqua ballet. We have never experienced anything of the sort and it was an incredible event. The buffet food was wonderful as well as the restaurants. My family mostly enjoyed d [... read more]inning at the French Restaurant because the food and service was extraordinary. Last but not least, the beach had a very stunning view. The sand was very fine and the different colors of the water were beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!!!

Tryp Cayo Coco: Awesome Tryp!

Everything at the Tryp Cayo Coco was very welcoming .The staff was quite helpful and always friendly. The mojitos and cappuccinos were by far the best at the bar! The rooms were tidy as were all of the common areas.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great value

Beaches and room were fantastic. Guest services were also very good. Only complaint was the cigar bar and the area where the shows were held where the bar service was very slow and the bartender always made the wrong drink. The Japanese restaurant was awesome! Great meal and great staff!

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia peninsula Veredaro

Nice people, 3star room, food was ok but wife got sick. I started to feel uncomfortable due to hearing of too many people getting sick. But all in all we made good memories and had fun. But would not return to Melia.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Needs Improvements

Rooms: Clean but need updating. Sporadic hot water, water pressure and air conditioning need immediate attention. Grounds well maintained. Beach: Best ever! Pool has a liner?? Staff: Excellent Food: Adequate

Melia Las Dunas: Fantastic Trip, Great Weather, Nice Resort!

This place is huge! You certainly get your exercise after stuffing yourself at the great Al a carts, buffets, or restaurants (several places to choose from for eats) The food was great! The room decor is a little dated but certainly clean and cool. All the amenities you need are at this resort. The only thing lacking was some daytime music and entertainment at the "adult" pool.

Tryp Cayo Coco: So much fun!

The rooms were older, but kept very clean. The grounds were very beautiful with plenty of gorgeous flowers everywhere. The workers were very friendly and always willing to help in any way. The beach is beyond gorgeous with crystal clear water that was so warm.

Sol Varadero Beach: Not what I expected

I hesitated writing this review because I realize Cuba is a whole different world but having been to Cuba twice before I knew what to expect. Let me just say that this was definitely not what I expected. After arriving late at night (10:30 pm) we were taken to our resort - Sol Sirenas Coral in Varadero. When we attempted to get off the bus we were ushered back on and taken to the sister resort Sol Sirenas because the Coral was "full" even though we had booked at the Coral. When we arrived at the [... read more] Sol Sirenas I was extremely disappointed and very frustrated. The resort itselt was very dark and dingy, the rooms were filthy, the ceiling was falling in and the room smelled very mouldy. Let me say that we were not the only ones taken to this resort - in total there were about a dozen of us. When we went back to the front desk to ask to be moved to the Coral they told us that it was not possible and it was all the same resort.....perhaps in name only but definitely not in quality. We went back and forth with the staff and at no time did they even attempt to help. As a matter of fact they were extremely rude to all of us. They kept saying it was not possible to move and theirs was the better resort. Again absolutely not true! Finally my travelling partner and I decided to walk to the Coral and speak to them directly. By this time it was 2 am and we were all tired and frustrated. The front desk at the Coral were very helpful and said they would definitely have a room for us the next day so we walked back to the Sol Sirenas and asked to be moved to another room for the night. After much banter back and forth they eventually moved us. However this room was no better than the last (filthy, pieces of the room falling in) but by this time is was almost 3 am and all we wanted to do was sleep. We did tell the other guests who were in the same predicament as us about being moved the next day and eventually everyone was moved over. However they had to do it themselves. The Sol Sirenas did absolutely nothing to help! The Sol Sirenas Coral was a much better resort at least from the lobby and pool perspective. The rooms were definitely better but again I didn't find them very clean and the bathroom constantly smelled of urine. And I was very disappointed with the lack of friendliness of the staff. With the exception of a few they didn't appear to care at all and there was no interaction between staff and guests. However the beach was superb and the pool was great as well. As stated I have been to Cuba twice before and knew what to expect and what not to expect. I am not a fussy person and realize "you get what you pay for" however I would at least like to have what I booked and paid for without having to haggle to get it. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I can honestly say that I would not recommend this resort to anyone. I struggled as to whether to rate it as fair or average and decided on average because in my mind it was average for a 3 star in Cuba. It was definitely not a 3 & 1/2 as advertised and the Sol Sirenas should be rated as a 1 & 1/2 star.
