It was clean, bed comfortable. Needs some updates. A absolutely no servers at pool nor bars. Had to get your own drinks. Buffet selection limited however tasted good. Buffet room very understaffed. A la carte not worth the time. Pestered a lot by reps regarding timesharea for Senator resort.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great staff
As usual, the staff at Gran Ventana was welcoming and helpful. The resort is still not full, so alacarte restaurants were easy to book and the Vintage Club was excellent! Food was hot and tasty and plentiful ! A slight water issue was handled quickly and a bit of rain but otherwise another great trip .
Kudos to all

Ground were well maintained. Food was way to salty and plain. Services was very poor. Plastic Cups were being washed and reused. Never seen this in any resort before. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Still a great resort!!
First of all, this is our 3 time at this resort in four years and we can say that we still love it there. There were a couple of issues but one wasn’t the resorts fault. The beach was a lot rougher this year and a lot of seaweed. The second issue was the food. The previous 2 times we were there the food at the buffet was great. This time it wasn’t quite as good. It seemed like the cooks were younger and maybe not in touch with todays style of cooking. Checkin was great and staff were friendl[... read more]y. Cleaning staff weren’t as good as before but generally our room was ok. Hard to get face cloths. Not much entertainment at night. Pool was great. All and all it is still a good resort to vacation.

Impressive Premium Punta Cana: Don't Waste Your Money- 7th time to Punta Cana-1st time Disappointed
First let me start by saying we have never complained before at any resort but feel this one needs a review. Here is the good about the resort. 1. Grounds are very nice, beach is awesome, there is a couple of awesome bar tenders Juan at the swim up pool and Alberto at beach bar. Both were amazing at their jobs. There are many good staff there but most are overworked.
Now for the bad. It started when we got on the bus. Only 6 people were on the small bus so the transfer should have been quick bu[... read more]t it wasn't. All 6 of the passengers were on the bus quickly but we waited for over an hour for a guy to jump on so that we could leave. ( all the other big buses left long before us). We were told that we were waiting for a Transat representative but when the guy got on, he was a friend ,we just drop him off at a bus stop about 10 minutes away. When we arrived at the resort we were over an hour late. Check in was terrible, they were trying to upsell people to Impressive Premium (from the Impressive Punta Cana), a pool view or ocean view rooms for $100. per/couple which by the time we got checked in we really didn't get what we had paid for. (We could see a corner of the pool but really did not get what we expected and we paid MORE upfront when we booked. Check in took till after 5 to get a room. Should have been in at the latest by 3pm. Language was a huge barrier. The room was large but never had towels or toilet paper and was not clean at all, bed was like sleeping on logs. We keep the room very neat to make it super easy for the maid, plus tip every day and didn't really get good service. (Not enough staff and they are way over worked). The food was absolutely gross. Never hot even in the Al-a-carts. Its like the restaurants cook everything ahead for fast turn over. Buffet was always cold, nothing hot at all. The pools were dirty which could be cleaned up very easily. Mold, hair scum line all around the pools. We talked to many people and they all felt the same as we did and were all disappointed in the resort. Honestly, this really should not be classified as a 41/2 star resort, it should be classified only as a 3 star and we are disappointed that Air Transat is the tour operator of this resort and advertised it as a 41/2 star. In closing we love Punta Cana but not this resort. We would not recommend this resort and when talking to other guest we have all came to the same conclusion that the problem is a management problem and really could be fixed quite simple if management spent some time addressing the problems rather then telling guests it is full and they can't do anything about it and if you're not happy just leave. Honestly they just don't care. They are counting on people wanting to travel and that it will fill up anyways. They shoundnt be counting on RETURNING guests. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. Very disappointed.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Amazing Resort
The hotel is beautiful and relaxing. The staff from the front desk to the beach and everyone in between go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be. The restaurants and food presentations are top notch. Everything is clean. All staff wore masks, hand sanitizer and temperature monitoring at all restaurants. Looking forward to returning when they reopen after renovation.

Impressive Punta Cana: It was fun!
We really enjoyed our stay at Impressive Punta Cana! Everything was very clean, the grounds were beautiful and the staff were kind & accommodating.
We also enjoyed the food and were impressed with the variety on offer.
The beach is gorgeous. We didn't have any trouble finding beach chairs and appreciated the the conveniently located bars ;)
We ended up upgrading to Premium (thank you Argenis!) and, while the room was almost identical to the original, the view was 100x better.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort!
This resort is beautiful, the grounds were well kept, they were always cleaning, grooming the grounds. We stayed in the family section over looking the pool with the water slides. Rooms were fabulous, clean, fairly new so not worn out like some others we’ve been to. We missed out on preferred club but we had the premium junior suite pool view and loved all the amenities, the turn down service. There’s a few pools, we stuck to the family one and pretty much sat at the swim up bar the whole t[... read more]ime! Juan our bartender was serving the drinks all day and was the best! Be sure to tip him, full uniforms with masks on in the hot sun and was always happy and singing. Restaurants are a la carte and no reservations required except for one, the Asian restaurant. The buffet was just ok, wasn’t much variety, if you want bacon go early as it only comes out once! If you have littles with you I found there wasn’t a lot for them, no fries or chicken fingers etc. although the fresh fruit was local and amazing. The staff was extremely friendly, only con would be very few knew any English at all so made it a little hard to communicate. All wore masks as well.
The entertainment was ok, dance party in the early evening then some type of music show at 9:30. There was a Madonna tribute which was actually quite good.
The gift shops, ice cream parlour, hamburger shop and cafe all require masks as they are quite small. They also all ensure you sanitize once you enter.
The beach was beautiful, soft sand no rocks. There are some vendors but there’s also security who make sure they don’t hassle you too much which I loved.
We were very impressed, the pics on the site are exactly what you will see and get. It’s not overly large so your walk to the main building wasn’t a pain. It was an all around amazing vacation. We would definitely stay there again!

Ocean Blue and Sand: Decent trip
Hotel was beautiful and clean. The pools were great and not over crowded. The staff for the most part was very good and friendly. The beach isn't huge but has good seating and the water while we were there was fairly calm and warm. Now our only real issue is the restaurants.... The food is ok but nothing to rave about. Tge biggest issue is the reservation system and the face that you can't plan because you have no idea what is going to be open or not. It really frustrated me There is a webpage [... read more]that you can see but reservations don't work and you have to search out each day to see what is open instead of a full schedule. It bugged me enough to really only taste this a 3 outta 5

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing resort
The Melia caribe is an awsome resort. This was our first trip south and probably not our last. The staff on the resort are so friendly and happy. Its a very clean place. We felt comfortable there with the covid situation. You had to wear a mask while going threw the buffet until you were seated at your table. The staff always had a mask on whether they were inside or out driving you on the golf cart. They were very helpful with the covid testing at the resort. The store on the resort had alot of different options as far a souvenirs. The cleaning staff came every day to clean the room and put fresh towels. Our fridge was filled daily by Marcos Aponte. He was a really nice guy and very helpful. The beach was amazing and had showers to rinse the sand off. The beach was very clean. I would recommend this place. Rachel was awsome in getting our trip planned and I would definitely Rachel as a travel agent.

Ocean El Faro: Nice resort
The resort itself is nice. The service was not that great nor was the buffet food. The A La Carte's were great except for Route 66. I don't know if it was from Covid or lack of guests over the past few years but the servers were not very friendly. We had Privilege and only saw and heard from our Butler, Carlos, twice. He was to book all our dinners but we ended up doing it. Pool side bar service only came around once in the morning. Beach is nice but very short. Princess Family Club Bavaro: Great for young families
We really enjoyed our stay with Family Club Bavaro Princess. I literally only have 1 complaint: they need to have deadbolts on the doors! My 3-year-old escaped and ran naked down the hallway on more than one occasion, haha. Other than this minor issue, though, we really loved everything about this hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean, food selection is great, kids’ pool was perfect for a 3 and 5 year old, and the beach and ocean were gorgeous. Definitely recommend.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Fail
My experience with the staff at Cofresi Palm Beach Spa Resort was horrible. If this is to be a 4* hotel, i would expect it to be significantly better.
I have stayed in various countries around the world, but this was by far my worst experience. The staff was rude.
When asking for for assistance from guest services or the reception counter, they would state that they cannot do it and to return the following day. On one instance I was told by Paula at the reception desk to return at 430p; w[... read more]hen I arrived at 3p she took forever to resolve my matter, and when 4p arrived she stated that her shift had ended and she passed me off to her coworker. If I had shown up at 430p as originally directed, she would not have been there, and my issue would have NOT have been even reviewed.
There is no service at this venue. One would think that if you have a bar located near the main lobby that there would be servers walking around, asking if you need anything, clearing up tables etc. Not one server is to be found. This is a great place for the staff to make tips. If a server is walking around they would get some form of tip on every round. Why is not a service being provided. Even if you do not want to hire more people for that, you could have one of the bar tenders do this, vs them standing behind the bar watching the screen or being on their phones. The tables were not cleared of garbage until the following morning, cups were all over the area. This is not what I call 4* resort appearance. There was the SAME garbage all around the edge of the pool on the upper level.
The rooms were average in the area designated for locals and anyone who is NOT American. There are no screen's on the patio doors, or windows. Leaving you in a position to keep the rooms closed, in fear of bugs coming into the rooms. The bathtubs were scratched up and not sealed around the faucet, tap and other parts of the tub and sinks. Not once was the counter in the bathroom ever cleaned once we arrived. If you have a king bed in your room then you have the honour of having a wardrobe and two side tables to store your belongings. If you have 2 doubles, are to resort to keeping your stuff in your luggage, as there is only 1-2 side tables and no dresser. It should also be listed that with the rooms there is no safe. You are required to rent a lock for the safe for the time you are there. This does not make foreigner feel that their passport and other personal belongings are secure.
If you put the towels on the ground to be changed during the cleaning service, you were not guaranteed to get the same number of hand or face towels once the cleaning service was done with your room. Normally one has 1 body towel, 1 hand towel, and 1 face clothe per a person in the room. One day we had 2 hand and face towels, the next we had 1 hand towel, and another 1 hand and one face. There is simply no consistency.
I understand that there is always different smells when visiting a new hotel. But to constantly be slapped in the face with the stench of sewers that were around the property was horrible. We visited the other resorts as we had access to them. This property of the Lifestyle family was the only one with this rank smell lingering around its pathways. Remember, I have stated I have travelled all over the world, and this stench was not a pleasant one.
Should you have a physical disability or children where you require to use a stroller. This is NOT a hotel for you. There are over 100 steps leading from the lobby to the beach. Yes there is a bus that circulates through, of which they state is to come every 30m. But it is more like per an hour. Should you need to get to your rooms, you will need to take the stairs to get there, as you are NOT a VIP with Air Transat. VIPs get a golf cart which enables you to drive where ever you need to with ease.
What would be very helpful, is that at the base of each stair, leading to another level of the hotel there was a map of where we were. Because there are so many stairs, and paths, one might think they are taking a short walk to their destination,, but they are taking a long convoluted route. As one is NOT walking around with their paper map all the time.
As this resort has the bulk of its guest come for the weekend. The Pearl buffet is only open for breakfast & lunch on Fridays through Sundays. There is NO signage to indicate that you have the option to visit the restaurant by the beach for those meals. We only found this out, as another guest had told us we can go there. Otherwise we were taking the shuttle to the Buffet Casablanca at the next LifeStyle resort.
The staff in the restaurants were wonderful. The only thing that I can say was that they did not wear their masks properly. Some wore it as a chin strap, others as a mouth guard. Once again, consistency. If the staff are required to wear it then they should be wearing it correctly.
I would rate this a 2-3star .... definitely not a 4 star

Playabachata Hotel: A great deal
This was our first trip since the very beginning of the pandemic, January 2020. We booked the trip for just over one thousand dollars and noticed that the prices for the same trip started to increase almost the next day with the lifting of covid restrictions, The resort is laid out nicely as in not cramped. The lodgings are quite attractive from the outside and the rooms are clean and spacious. Each room has a good sized veranda complete with a folding towel rack. There is one large buffet style[... read more] restaurant and a smaller burger and fries type spot during the day that does double duty as a reservation only steak house or Italian restaurant in the evening. One large pool, several large bars with short wait times, not much in the way of entertainment and several shops selling the regular tourist type stuff. The beach is very nice with tall palm trees providing plenty of shade instead of the usual small umbrellas that usually line beaches. The food is plentiful but does tend to repeat the menu a bit. Service staff are friendly and efficient. One annoying item, during the weekend, it seems like a lot of locals show up and some of them are great at butting into the food lines. Annoying. There is an extra cost Japanese style restaurant that we found tasty and entertaining, for 25$ US. Final ratings, resort-4 stars, food-3.5, rooms-4, staff-4, entertainment-1, distance from airport-4.

Excellence El Carmen: Beautiful resort
This is our second time at this resort and was disappointed with the quality of the service, food and wine. Compared to pre covid, their shine which made us go back has diminished. At this price, I am expecting 5 star food and wine. We lost two nights sleep given a plumbing issue with the private pools. They didn’t replenish amenities on our last full day as if we were checking out (ie coffee). Staff wore masks and the resort was clean. Will reconsider a third visit.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Beautiful resort and service!
Just returned from our week of March 25-April 1st.
Beautiful, clean resort.
Food was great at all of the restaurants.
Our butler, Teudi looked after all of our requests from our room to reservations at the a la carte restaurants.
Met with the Sunwing rep on Saturday and he assured me NO testing had to be required since we departed on April 1st.
Filling out the ArriveCAN app was seamless…did it on the beach with all my information.
Need to be more clarification on the QR code needed at th[... read more]e airport in order to depart the Dominican!
I was fortunate enough to have it sent to me from a family member and showed it on my iPhone.
Flight in and out of Hamilton was seamless.
