Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great resort

Entertainment was great Staff very helpful and friendly Rooms were great and cleaned daily Restaurants were superb The beaches were beautiful and the staff cleaned the weeds daily. The coffee shop was a daily routine with us and besides the cappuccinos and lattes they also served up great snacks and desserts

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: To BIG

I have been to this resort many times from only two sections to the now 7 sections. They can't enlarge beach area so the beach is crowed. The pools are large but most days there were no free lounges to be had, guest hog the lounges at pool and beach , they must feel special since they don't have problem saving lounges when they don't intend to use most of the day and management doesn't seem to want to enforce the NO reserve rule. Whala Boca Chica: Adequate Accommodation

Definitely a three- star. The rooms are a bit beat up but fairly well maintained. Food service was good, although some areas understaffed (snack bar) on the weekend when the resort fills with locals. Poor signage made it hard to navigate what was where, and I received NO information about hotel amenities. If you don’t speak fluent Spanish you do not get the same service (ie: being ignored when a native speaker starts a conversation with the staff)

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: good for the money

lots of pros and cons about this resort. considering we paid less than 800 each, the trip was well worth it. food was decent although ala cartes were always booked up. tried to book rodizzo on the first night and it was booked for the entire week. the beach was small and secluded, and one end was perfect for snorkeling. wifi was pretty crappy, but you do get one hour a day for free. souvenirs, drinks, smokes etc are more expensive here than other countries like cuba or mexico, and alth [... read more]ough the sales people are really aggressive they dont like to negotiate. the resort is huge, with lots of stairs, but there is a shuttle running about every 15 mins and we never had a problem catching it. our room was kept clean and everything worked well. we were given 4 coors lites in our fridge as a welcome gift. freddy is a good rep and helped us book the paradise island tour, which is awesome, as long as you pay the extra for the catamaran, otherwise your just riding a motorboat to a sandbar. the vague septic smell is a real thing but didnt keep s from enjoying ourselves. we would go again

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Loved this resort!

The CHIC lived up to our expectations. Service was excellent, quality of food and drink was exceptional and newer decor was fabulous! Lots of hand sanitizer was available in washrooms and all needed to use before entering the buffet. Not all staff wore masks but guess DR like Canada have removed the mask mandate. All staff was eager to please and lots of variety of entertainment ..not your typical shows ..very creative. Diamond Club is closer to pool activities so could be a bit louder. We chose [... read more] the quieter regular rooms which was closer to the spa and gym. Good sized resort and was easy to walk to everything. One odd thing was the restaurant bookings. We were told no reservations required however you needed to put your name on a list at 6pm in order to get a time. Bit strange but that was the only complaint.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great resort just some things need to change

I am very happy you chose me as one to do a survey. It is my second visit at your hotel. Your staff are amazing. Chocolate at the entertainment crew fantastic. But there were two people I want to give special attention too. I don't know her name but she was my cleaning lady in room 7212 from April 2nd to the 11th. When I travel, I purposefully do not allow cleaning people in my room for I know they work hard and want to give them a rest. She would see me in the hallway and point to coffee etc and she was trying to tell me I know you don't want your room cleaned but do you need anything through sign language. The other woman is working at your congierge area. Her name starts with an a M. She is very pretty and very thin. When she found out that there was no creamers anywhere to be found in the hotel she brought me some from her home. I was so shocked and touched. She is the best. Those are the best people from the bottom rung to the top. You requested to discuss covid measures in your hotel. In no way could guests wear masks due to heat. Your staff had them on but very few if only maybe 5 percent were covered up fully. They had their masks up but only covering their mouths not noses. I get this with the heat and having to communicate all day long very difficult. I would highly suggest staff be given glass visor masks so they can breathe and communicate well. The hotel grounds were immaculate and precision care was given, most importantly public bathrooms were given great attention I commend. But a few things changed and I think the whole chain should be aware of this before the name Iberostar goes down in reputation. There were so many prostitutes in the hotel I counted about seven. I talked to two of them, they said they had rooms there. I saw four woman surround two German men who left with these woman two nights in a row. I knew for a fact their wives were sleeping. I also met a man in his mid thirties who admitted he hired one of the girls. He said he gave her the 24.00 american as requested but instead waited to he went to the washroom and tried to steal his winter coat. He then told her to get out immediately. You have to understand in Canadian culture we can have compassion in our hearts for those poor people who have to resort to such measures. However, many tourist woman noticed in hotel and were not impressed at all. Please make measures from now on to not allow this.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Will return to Dreams Onyx

We were very pleased with all aspects that Dreams Onyx resort offered. Very clean rooms, comfortable bed, friendly staff, good food, nice beach but....red wine needs to improve and Wifi in room was at most times non-existent.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful Resort

Nothing to complain about at this resort. Laid out extremely well with tons of options for food/drink/swimming/entertainment. This resort is not for people with mobility issues though! Lots of stairs and hills to climb.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Had an amazing week

Appreciated that there was a host named Freddie for air transat. Shuttle to and from airport is all included. Cofresi staff were amazing and positive. No issues with our rooms or experience. Generally would say if you go with this hotel, book your a la carte meals early in the week to get a good reservation. Otherwise I enjoyed the performances and events at the lobby.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Good resort

Nice resort, mask are worn In the restaurant until seated, also worn to get a drink at the bars, rooms were clean, staff were friendly, didn't like that you had to go to the pool area to get coffee and not until 6:30 am, need more variety of food at the beach bar, entertainment was good but the same every night, not enough music or entertainment in the day. Entertainment at night was only about 2 hours most times. Food was good. Beds were very comfortable.

Excellence El Carmen: I recommend!

This resort was great. We enjoyed every minute of our 7 day stay. From the moment we arrived to the moment we had to say good bye, the staff was friendly, food was great, beach was beautiful, drinks were plentiful. We have no negative comments and would recommend.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Pretty resort

This resort is a four star. Food average, the reservation system for dinners poor, trying to get a spot on beach and pool a real challenge even at 6 a.m.. Lack of English speaking staff makes communications very difficult. Butler service should be proactive not upon request. The positives are beautiful resort, room comfortable, pool service excellent. Have been to this resort many times prior to the pandemic. Having returned last week I had certain expectations that weren’t met. Service is no longer great. They appear to have less staff and although they are trying they can’t keep up with servicing everyone as expected. Food options although still ok it’s no longer the same. Staff do wear masks but guests are not following any protocols. The resort does staff do not enforce the protocols. Personally I was comfortable with this but others may not be.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Would not recommend

Definitely not a five star, language barrier a real problem. Running out of things every day and having to get up at 5AM to get a spot by the pool or beach is just crazy. All the good ala cart restaurants were already booked on the day we arrived. Could not get a hold of our so called butler.

I have been in this resort more than 10 times and this time I wasn’t very happy about the resort. Food selection was down grade from previous years. Rooms were done just enough to sleep. Drinks very scarce not many drinks available and not many people serving. Taking too long to bring drinks to table. Nobody at the beach to get a drink. Night shows very poor. Not enough action around the resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great resort!

We upgraded to the Bahia Principe Esmeralda resort & the staff handled the upgrade quickly & efficiently. The a la carte restaurants were awesome for the most part. Some extra training for staff at the Mediterrenean restaurant would go a long way to alleviating the poor service there. All the other restaurants were great. Vista Sol Punta Cana: Great place to relax in the sun

This was my 4th time at the Vista Sol, Punta Cana and once again we had a great time, with the exception of our Ocean view room. The first room, the air conditioner did not work, shower head was broken and the Ocean view I paid for was not an Ocean view, rather a view of Palm leaves with a brief look at the ocean depending on which way the wind blew, although a nice view not an Ocean View. The second room they gave us, the Air Conditioner worked well, but the view overlooking the roof tops of t [... read more]he resort next door, but if I sat and looked to the left I could see the ocean, my opinion a partial view. Every time we went out on the balcony, workers from the resort next door would yell at us. After multiple times back and forth to the front desk, I was told to come back at 1pm the next day, which I did and we were moved to an Ocean view room, where the air conditioner worked well. After the room issue was worked out, the remainder of the week was great.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: beautiful resort

Had a wonderful vacation at Melia Caribe Beach resort, grounds are beautiful, rooms are nice and very clean and of course the beach is second to none, if anything was a let down it was the food at the buffet, we prefer not to book the other eateries because we do not like to be locked in to a specific time to eat, the first few days the buffet was served in chafing warmers, was a little shocked no grill for breakfast or dinner but then after 3 days voila the grill was there and pasta offered at  [... read more]dinner so that was good, all in all out of 10 it was a high 9, great place for kids really enjoyed watching the little ones play and be sweet.

Vista Sol Punta Cana: 4th time here !!

As always, everyone here tries so hard to make your stay comfortable. It is obvious that Covid has hit the island with shortages but we still had a fabulous vacation. It took a couple tries to get a good room where everything was working but once we got settled in, we had a blast. Japanese, Italian and Mexican restaurants did a marvellous job. JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Incredible Resort

First of all, Victoria Guest did a great job on our booking to this resort. Resort is amazing, truly 5 star. Rooms, layout, pools, beach, all great. Restaurants are overall good but the need for reservations is a pain. Italian restaurant needs better Italian food; lasagna and spaghetti are not good. My wife hated the fact there is a woman employee always looming in the washrooms. The need for a butler is questionable but he was nice. Beyond that, the place is spectacular.
