Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Amazing vacation for the entire family!

This resort has something to offer for everyone. The food was extremely fresh and there were such a variety of options and restaurant choices. The beach was beautiful. The rooms were updated and spacious. The amenities and service were amazing. Worth every penny! Such a wonderful family holiday.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Amazing resort for families with young children

Beautiful resort, grounds and beach. Ideal for families- lots for kids to do. Tiny to teens there are activities and sections specific for all age ranges. Not a great place for singles or couples better suited for families, despite the casino and spa which are not highlighted much and may have been better placed at the adults only resort. Staff were somewhat masked, mostly not to our standards of wear and not consistently. Staff were around cleaning. There were some hand sanitizers throughout the resort, some requiring touch to dispense. Buffets mean everyone touches the serving spoons and helps themselves. There was a clinic on-site for a departure rapid test for $35 USD.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great Holiday

This is our second time at this resort. Once four years ago and again March 2022. The resort is great. On the smaller end but just the right size. Staff is friendly. Rooms are clean. Food is great for everyone in the family. Lots of Canadians to meet by the swim up bar. Lots of deck chairs available around the main pool. Great value for money. I would fully recommend for families and adults alike.

Riu Palace Macao: Lovely resort

The resort is up and running again. The staff are working diligently to impress their guests with amazing meals and impeccably kept rooms and gardens. Service was great except for the daily bar cart room service which was very hit and miss. During our two week stay we received service only on three occasions, after we spoke with the front desk attendants. We had to go to the front desk each day, other than the three when we received replenishment, to obtain bottles of water. All other  [... read more]aspects of our two week stay were excellent. The beach was amazing and the pools were beautiful and kept very clean.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Mediocre

The hotel grounds and beach were beautiful. Some of the neighbouring resorts had sea weed removal trucks, which made for a cleaner beach. Melia caribe had two men cleaning the beach with tools every morning. There was a lot of confusion and miscommunication around restaurant bookings and we had a few hiccups there. Service was also extremely slow. The rooms were pretty clean and beds were very comfortable. The buffet was basic compared to other resorts we’ve been to. They were out of food  [... read more]a lot and you had to ask for bananas and anything not frequently being replenished. Staff seemed agitated most of the time. The events were fun and overall layout of the hotel was very functional.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great Resort!

It was our first family trip to Punta Cana and many thanks to Monique for assisting us with our travel plans. Bahia Principe is a beautiful clean resort with beautiful grounds, great food, amazing and friendly staffs, and fun entertainment for adults and kids. We loved the circus and magic shows. We would definitely come back again!

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great time

Room was great suggest you book the sun club Resort was not busy at all Normal 7 am to get a shade spot Here lots of spots after 10 am Food was good pizza dinner and Gohan (Chinese) Service good

Occidental Punta Cana: Great beach

We had fun at this resort. The beach and water are amazing, you can walk forever! Staff are great, food was very good. The only draw back are the sales people on the beach and on some nights, around the pool. We are there to relax, not shop!

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Great resort, reasonable price!

grounds, beach, pool, tennis court, basketball court all beautiful. From our last visit (when Now Onyx), the quality of service and food at restaurants improved. Buffet still lacks high quality food offering. I would exchange the vast variety of available food at the buffet with higher quality offerings.

Playabachata Hotel: Getting back in business

This resort Playabatchata resort is in my opinion a realistic 3.5star at the present time but it could reach 4 when maintenance completed . It has its “bigger brother “ resort : Senator which is bigger and more upscaled, omaybe a 5star one. For Playabatchata i would take it in order: 1. Beach : very nice, fine golden sand, lots of coconut trees that makes it very scenic, lots of chairs and the sea gets deeper not far from the beach. Accommodations Here is definitely an area of improvement because after pandemic rooms need maintenance. We changed rooms because : exhaust fan in bathroom was not working, the AC was not working, the bathroom had calking with lots of brown spots. I have to be grateful though to Paula who addressed our concerns and changed our room on the spot. Also disappointing not to have the treatment station for water in the rooms, so tap water was not drinkable. Had to replenish the water bottles in the fridge ourselves everyday. Food/ restaurants: Overall OK Nothing too fancy but enough options one can find smtgh to like: fish, pork beef always available freshly grilled, they bbq even right on the beach. Obviously people there put an effort to please. There i could see technical imperfection too, like the exhaust fans for kitchen hoods were not working, cooks were always sweating on the cooktops. Staff: Very very friendly and doing their best to please Overall status of the resort: I could great effort in bringing everything back to speed: they were repairing, painting, drywalling between the tourists, I don’t blame them much about that. I would be a bit concerned about the safety of the workers as they were working with not much equipment or protection while on the job. Pool: Outdated as style, clorine was applied manually but the “animacion” was keeping the spirits up in the area. Again, great effort by the staff there. I woul have loved to see some batchata lessons there but there were not.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing Resort.

16 day stay and everything was perfect. Food and drinks were great. Lots of variety. Polite and kind people work at this resort. Beach was great and long. Venders were very good also. No pressure. We are missing our Dominican family. This was our second time and will be back next year. Thank you Iberostar for doing a fantastic job! Dave Paul and Melanie Jackson

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Would never go back!

Royalton Splash is not what it used to be according to past reviews. Quick recap: great beach, food ok, service very bad. Not worth the $ not upgrading to Diamond Club. Royalton Punta Cana is much better!

Playabachata Hotel: Definitely not 4*!

The hotel is VERY dated. The rooms need some serious updates, and bug control. We had a massive cockroach, like the size of a mouse in one of our rooms, the other room was on ground level and the floor was just covered in bugs. There are no coffee makers, hair dryers, or anything you'd expect with a 4* hotel. The restaurants are very limited in food options, reminded me of Cuban buffet. The guys at the bar by the pool were super friendly and and fast. There is no swim up bar! Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Amazing beach but not a 4+

Travelled from March 14 to 21 2022 Although the beach was amazing, the lack of service and average food would not make me come back, not a 5 stars or 4.5. If you can afford it stay at the Punta Cana next door. Beach: hotel not directly on the beach, a 10min walk through the property and Punta Cana hotel to get there. BUT beautiful, has a big sandy area, clean. Ocean was amazing...Best part of the trip. Not enough chairs, by 7:15 all gone. Cafe shop has good coffee. Mexican was good, Italien not so much. Seafood was good but meat and fish over cooked. We ate at Punta Cana buffet our last night, big difference in food and service. Rooms: big and clean. Patio door has no screen. Shower has no door. First 2 days no new towels until we called several time and then had to tip someone to get some. Weather: HOT during the day, windy at night but nice. Service: check-in awful, restaurants very very slow, beach area not much service in blue chairs area. Everyone looking for tips if you need any help. Took them 2h check us in. Not sure if they were understaffed or staff lacking training or impacts of covid as friends went 4 years ago and they said it doesn't compare. Property: clean, beautiful. Lobby is more an entry point, not typical lobby where you can hang out, you have to go to the Punta Cana one. Entertainment: only music and signing at splash, shows are at Punta Cana. Same type of shows like other resorts, nothing exciting.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: A wonderful vacation with couple of small mishaps

The VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort was wonderful. The resort is clean and they are always working on keeping it tidy. Our rooms were very clean. The beach was awesome although it was breezy by the afternoon which was really a relief from the heat. We upgraded to Premium so there never was an issue getting a sun bed. The service at the premium beach was top notch. They were always making sure we had drinks and always had a sun bed. A great beach to walk in either direction as well. It is a public b [... read more]each with many vendors but they are friendly and respect you if you say NO. The food was amazing whether you are at the buffet or al carte. So tasty and flavourful. We enjoyed the quiet pool a couple of times but found the main pool very busy and noisy. While there, we witnessed two people slip on the patterned concrete around the resort, one injuring his head and the other breaking her wrist requiring surgery. I myself fell 2 hours into our trip and suffered a concussion and whiplash. There needs to be some type of grit or tread on the concrete especially when it is wet. It was like a skating rink. I feared for people older than myself with the possibility of breaking a hip. We also paid premium and our room was not the nicest overlooking a dirty and loud building. I could see that people who did not pay the premium had ocean view rooms (you could tell by the colour of towels) so I was on my way to inquire about this when I slipped and fell hitting my head on the cement. They did move us to an oceanview room which I would expect was a premium perk. Overall, it was a wonderful vacation (minus the injury) and I would recommend upgrading to Premium. The vintage lounge is amazing and a great spot to chill or have pre-dinner drinks (premium liquor) or specialty coffees. Nice finger food to nibble on as well. Friendly people, clean resort, great food, wonderful beach, lots of sunshine and covid protocol was in place with masks required going to the bars and restaurants and hand sanitizer offered and required to go into the buffet. Just walk around the resort with caution. We would definitely return but I would bring heavy treaded shoes. Ola!

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Amazing resort

The hotel was fantastic. A little short on chairs around the pool but the beach made up for that in a big way. I am not a beach person but this place is fantastic. The food was great and so was the service

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Terrific well kept resort.

All amenities were great including the beach and VIP lounge for the Majestic package. We plan on returning. There was a good amount of choice for outdoor, indoor dining options as well as outdoor entertainment.

Excellence El Carmen: Dream vacation

This resort did not disappoint!! The resort is a good size, not too large and easy to navigate. Well appointed rooms, beautifully maintained grounds, decent food, great entertainment and friendly staff.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Really amazing resort!

Beautiful resort, the room are spacious and the beds are really comfortable. The hair blow dryer provided in each room is fantastic. The wifi is excellent everywhere on the resort even at the beach. The quality and variety of the food and the drinks is way superior to other resort we have done in the past in DR. We love the beach and the chairs at our disposition. We certainly made great memories at this beautiful resort.

Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort: Beautiful resort

Large beautiful resort with well kept grounds. Wide beach, easy walking Not much of a wait at bars if any. Buffet had large variety of fonds. Something for everyone. We are at 4 dining restaurants and have to say the food was very good. Our favorite was the steakhouse the italian and Inari with the show Staff were friendly, no major issues with housekeeping or anything else.
