Sunscape Curacao Resort: Great resort

This resort was really nice. Wasn't very big but I enjoyed that. Was not a party resort by any means which I quite enjoyed. Food was great lots of variety. Beach was the best part! Would definitely go back again!!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Not happy

Problem: We arrived after 4 pm on march 19. We could hardly get a drink while our room was being prepared. The bar was extremely busy with 2 personnel. We waited half an hour for a drink. there is no daily activities or evening entertainment!!!!! As expected in an all inclusive vacation. It is boring during the day Not even music at the pool!!!!! The other issue is that the property is located on a remote area where taxing would become expensive. The beach is a big disappointment.

Hilton Curacao: Paradise Found!

Clean, Comfortable room, excellent breakfast, beautiful beach and pool. snorkel and kayak right off the Hilton beach area. Curacao is an amazing hidden gem!! Everything you would expect in an island paradise and all the features of a modern progressive country. Perfect hot weather with a breeze all the time. Natural wonders abound. Rich history and cultural heritage. Will go back many times!!

Kura Hulanda Lodge and Beach Club: A great place to escape

We thoroughly enjoyed our one week mid-March escape to the Kura Hulanda Lodge in Westpunt, Curaçao. This is a piece of paradise in a secluded spot especially for anyone seeking some peace and quiet. The idyllic temperatures, sunny skies, beautiful beach, friendly staff, delicious local food and drinks all contributed to making this one of our best vacations ever. We loved the many colourful birds that woke us up in the morning with their sweet songs. We also used the outside shower off of our suite for a lovely refreshing rinse in the open air, a unique experience. We could have stayed here very happily the whole time but we did do two trips one to Willemstad and one to nearby Christoffel Park. The complimentary shuttle from the hotel made these trips easy. We also used the dive centre beside the resort to rent a sea kayak to explore the shoreline and snorkelling gear to see aquatic life on the coral reefs right off the beach. It was very hard to leave and we've decided that we need to come back to Curaçao again.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Sunscape Curacao Resort, Nice resort, Great People

Three areas to this resort, the older central part, the newer tower and the Sun club section. We stayed in the older section but were lucky enough to be in the 3200s on the beach front. They have full sized balconies and an exceptional view on the ocean. Maid service is great. Food at the buffet has enough choice to keep everyone satied but the best meals can be had for dinner at the 4 restaurants. No reservations required, except at the Japanese (at least 24 hrs in advance), one just needs [... read more] to line up at 18:15 and it's first come first served. We would line up to reserve at a later time and it worked very well. The staff at the hotel were fantastic and went out of their way to help us with issues we had with Air Canada, but more on this later. The beach is protected by a breakwater wall which offers the swimmers protection from the rough ocean. Snorkeling in this area is great. Bring water shoes as many entry points have coral making entry a little difficult. I highly recommend this resort. Now the negative. We travelled with Air Canada Vacations and Air Canada Rouge provided the transportation. We connected from Ottawa to Montreal then Curacao. Big error. We had a 40 minute connection in Montreal which required a sprint from one end of the terminal to the furthest end. My daugther's baggage made it to Curacao, but mine and my wife's did not. These things happen but what followed just made the situation worse. We and a few others, had to fill out paperwork to report the missing bags and by the time we finished and exited the terminal, our bus ride to the hotel was gone, no warning, no nothing. Nine of us had to pay a taxi to get to the hotel. I spoke to the Air Canada rep the next morning and she was less than helpful in fact, we received more help from the Sunwing reps at the hotel than we did from them. I called Air Canada in Montreal to try and locate the bags and was given little information but promised a call back once they did. NOT! The most frustrating aspect of this was the lack of common courtesy and communications on their part. Result, 3 beach days missed and, never again will I travel with Air Canada.

Palace St. Martin: Great staff, hotel is just okay - deadly pool!

This was our first time to St. Martin, we've previously travelled to Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, St. John's, Bahamas staying in 4 or 5 star hotels. This hotel is smaller which was nice as we did not have a hard time finding a spot on the beautiful beach or by the pool. The pool needs work as many tiles on the steps and edges are broken/cracked with exposed sharp edges (picture the edge of a broken bottle). I cut my toe on the last day as did my daughter (6). My cut was about an inch and luckily n [... read more]ot very deep but it did end my time in the water as it did end the life of a very old rag looking towel. Rooms are average, they are not suites, basic room with two/one bed, bar fridge and in room bottles of alcohol RIU hotel style. Hotel room is clean and fresh looking but on the edge of needing some work. The grounds are tired looking, grass is brown, water fountains filled with gravel because they broke. Cabana cushions are terrible shape, its like that bed sheets you love and don't want to toss out but you should.... Service was great, just one lady at the front desk was a bit soup Nazi style, the rest of the staff were great! Margarita (kids club) was amazing with the kids, Mimi at the restaurant, pool side doctor sharing her "medicine" sorry I never caught her name but she was great. Food was fine, at times it was great, we did not take advantage of a la carte because the kids wanted more choice. I'd give this 4 stars maybe, not 4+ or 5. Not worth the money, especially during Spring break (March 12 to 19 for us). We also took a cab to Philipsburg, not worth it unless you want to go shopping. If she says I only want to go to buy one thing, Its a trap!

Esmeralda Resort: Relaxation and rejeuvination

The Esmeralda resort was a perfect destination to break up the winter blues and feel immersersed in the warmth of St Martin. The hotel has impeccable grounds with beautiful palm trees and manicured gardens that make you feel like you have arrived in paradise . The layout of the resort gives lots of privacy. The pool that we shared with 2 other couples never had more than 2 people in it at a time. It felt very private. Sitting on the terrace in front of our room bathing in the warmth of the early morning sun was a close second. The food and service at the Astrolabe restaurant was 5 star! I can hardly wait to go back and that was my third time there. Merci.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Nice resort, not too big so very personable!

Everything was within easy reach in the resort. The four restaurants were all good. Food was of good quality but tended to be always "well done". The pools and beach were very nice and the snorkelling in the lagoon was better than the paid excursions. Staff was fabulous and we really enjoyed the coffee bar each morning before breakfast. The nightly entertainment was first class with two different sets each night.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Would love to go back

This was one of the best resorts I have ever been to. The staff , the food , the entertainment, the grounds, the beach and excursions offered are all top notch. It's also a great place to go snorkelling.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Good resort

I thought the hotel, grounds and facilities were average but the location was excellent. The beach was not really useable as the tide took the sand out. There was only 2 al acartes on site and it was very hard to get reservations. We could only reserve 2 in 11 days. The noise from outside casino and bar was very loud and they had a sewage sytem behind the hotel with big fans that was noisey so you could not sit on the balcony.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: GREAT Resort !!

This was a terrific place to vacation ! The private beach was outstanding; it felt like swimming and snorkeling in a crystal clear lagoon. The resort was small enough to make it easy to navigate and it never felt crowded. Always plenty to do; the activities and entertainment was really good for a small resort. Food was great, portions large and the line up's were not long. The rooms were large and comfortable and lacked nothing. The best feature of this resort is the friendly and helpful s [... read more]taff. Picturesque Willemsted was a very short bus or taxi ride and worth the trip. Mambo beach with many shops, restaurants and happening night life was only a 5 minute walk. I would go again tomorrow :)

Sonesta Maho Beach: Terrific Resort

Great food and public grounds. Rooms were outdated could use a refresh otherwise it was good.Service was fair, restaurants on the grounds could improve, the Italian restaurant was awful. Overall the buffet had good selection of food. Service was a little slow.

Sonesta Maho Beach: Had a fantastic vacation.

We had a great time watching the iets fly in. The grounds, food, drink, people. Everything was perfect. Natalie at trip central was a great advisor. The shopping was nice and close to resort and everything you need was close.

Le Beach Hotel: Great proximity to Marigot

Rooms: Basic but had everything you need. Hair dryer worked, lots of hot water and very comfortable bed. Desperately in need of upgrade! Grounds: No beautiful, tropical flowers. The shrubs that are on the property need water and the pots are in disrepair. Restaurant: Nice with good food and decent prices. White linen cloths and chair covers. Bar: Great little bar area. Practice your French! There is a little spot where they have live entertainment however I didn't find the entertainment to  [... read more]be very good. Breakfast area: Bright and cheery. Lots of birds flying around. Do not leave your plate unattended! You have to get your own cutlery and serve yourself coffee. I like to have my coffee brought to me and at the very least have the cutlery on the table. Chairs are in bad shape and tables wobbly. Lobby: Nothing spectacular. No wow factor! Shop: Very small and expensive Pool: Liner is coming away from the pool. Water is freezing! Beach: Small and not very appealing. Garbage in the water. All in all it is the staff that make this resort. Also close proximity to town. Very friendly and courteous. If they don't start fixing things this hotel will not be around for very much longer! Big cracks in the cement, decorative trim missing from the roof structure, in need of paint! I would rate this hotel a low 3* Vacationers beware: The hotel can get over booked and you might end up at another resort. It happened to us! ended up back at Le Beach but not in an ocean view room which we had booked and paid for.

Sonesta Great Bay Beach & Casino: Wonderful Resort (4 out of 5 stars)

This is an all adult resort, which is what we were looking for, instead of the newer Sonesta Maho Resort, which attracts the younger crowd with children. We had an oceanview room with a small balcony, that overlooked the small pool and deck. There were 3 umbrella and chaises setups that we used a few times, but we preferred the main patio setup with the larger pools, by the buffet restaurants and the bars. The bathroom was well appointed with modern fixtures, and had a roomy all glass shower. All the hotel staff is very friendly and welcoming. Whenever a staff member walked by, we were always asked if everything was OK, what we were doing today, and if we were having fun. We had no complaints with the buffet food. There was a large variety of dishes to please everyone, even though it became a bit repetitive after 2 weeks, but we weren't looking for gourmet breakfasts and lunches. We enjoyed the fresh fruit and the local fish. Every time we walked in for breakfast, lunch and the few dinners, we were welcomed with smiles and hugs. However, our favorite restaurant was Pescatore, on the reception floor. We thoroughly enjoyed every dinner we had there. It's a gourmands delight! Compliments to the chef and servers. ONE WORD OF CAUTION !! There are "funny" little steps all over the place, and the tiled floors can become slippery. My wife fell 3 times within 2 days, and another guest slipped and broke her wrist. On our third day we learned to keep our eyes on our feet.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Very nice resort

If you like to swim in the ocean with light waves this resort is perfect. The beach is protected by rocks that keep the water calm and easy to swim and snorkel in. We spend more time in the ocean on this trip than any other. The food in the restaurants was very good, the Japanese was the best. Service can be slow at times but remember you are on vacation and the drinks are included. The area around the resort and in Willemstad was very safe. The resort is not new but the rooms were large and clean. The grounds were very well maintained, the beach and pool area was cleaned consistently by staff. The entertainment group were very enthusiastic and did well with the limited resources. Each night there was live music around the pool area at dinner time. Mostly single musicians with electronic back beats. They were all very talented and added to the ambiance. We took a day trip with Bounty Adventures on a catamaran to Klein Curacao, highly recommended, the crew were great and the food and drink were excellent. This trip takes you to an uninhabited island were you can swim, snorkel and explore the island. They provide breakfast just after launch, and lunch at the island, which is when the bar opens. A great day out, expect to sleep very well after this trip, we did. Well worth the $108 for the day.

Sonesta Maho Beach: We had a great time !!!!

Grounds are beautiful. The food is a bit limited however everything we tried was very good. Front staff are under fire since the room situation is a problem. If you are not at a room with a view of the pool or ocean then the problems are plentiful. On the street side very loud music until around 2:00 am. The windows are like paper, they give no protection on noise. The sides also very loud fans and overlooking work yard that looks a bit like a junk yard. We changed rooms 3 times and in the end t [... read more]here was no availability for ocean or pool views. Really enjoyed the planes landing and taking off from the nearby airport. All and all a great vacation if you don't take into consideration the rooms.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Good Resort

Good resort; smaller so easy to navigate. Good food in a la carts; buffet was ok. Great location! Rooms in the tower are much nicer than in the villas. Staff are friendly but service was a bit slow. No reservations for a la carts but wasn't a big deal. Water and weather gorgeous - great snorkeling right off the beach! Fairly quiet resort.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Very Nice Resort (Relaxing Time)

First and foremost, I must say the Staff at Trip Central, were amazing. Tracy Weldon-Duffin was extremely helpful in that she had stayed at this resort 3 times before and gave my wife and I some excellent advice and heads up. To the resort. After reading some reviews we were a little concerned, but I do have to say that our concerns were unfounded. I am going to rate the different aspects of this resort with a little description. Room: 3.5 out of 5: The rooms were a little dated and [... read more] could use an update, but they were extremely clean. The bed was comfortable, and the shower stall 3' x 6' was roomy and spacious. Great water pressure too. Reception Desk; 4.5 out of 5, The staff at the front desk were excellent. Our plane was delayed 4 hours and when we arrived they had us checked in and to our rooms within 15 minutes of arriving. They also had the restaurant stay open a little later so we could have a meal. Anything we asked, if they did not know, they would get you an answer. They arranged a room exchange immediately when I informed them I had bad knees and, although I can climb the stairs to our second floor room, it was painful. They put us on the main floor and arranged transfer of our possessions. Grounds: 4 out of 5; Well maintained, and kept spotless. Again, maybe a little dated and in some need of repair in certain areas, but this did not detract from our enjoyment. Restaurants: 4.5 out of 5; We read that there was no variety at the buffet. Again not true. I could have eaten something different every day if I had wanted to. Chicken, Pork, Fish, Beef, Pasta, Salads, Fruit so fresh you would have thought they picked it that day were offered and enjoyed. The Ala cart restaurants are even better. Italian, we ate there twice was excellent with great service. The Japanese restaurant (you will need a reservation here), was amazing. Food is cooked for you at the table and you get entertained by the cook as well. The Beach Grill offered hamburgers, hot dogs, steak, ribs and grilled chicken, all well prepared and serving sizes were amazing. Other than the Japanese Restaurant, you do not need to have reservations at the Ala cart. Beach: 5 out of 5. Great Beach with soft sand. Clearest water I have ever snorkeled in. The break wall out about 50 feet from shore means the water is calm. Most days you could also snorkel outside the break wall. No problem with lounges, we were always able to get one. I cannot name most of the fish we saw, but they were so plentiful and beautiful. Many times i was snorkeling with schools of fish numbering over 100. Just a warning, if you are not a strong swimmer, stick to the pool. The drop off is about 20 feet out from shore and it gets to well over 25 to 30 feet deep. Pool: 4 out of 5. I was only in the pool once, with a beach like the one we had, who needs a pool. Staff 5 out of 5. From the cleaning staff to the bar staff, all were top notch. Even the towel exchange person was amazing. Overall rating; 4.25 out of 5. This resort will see us again, hopefully, next year. When we do book we will definitely use Trip Central to arrange everything for us. I hope this has helped.

Le Beach Hotel: Awesome Place

This was a comfortable hotel, we had no complaints and there was 9 women. The rooms were clean and we had clean towels everyday. However I did not like the idea we would have to pay for beach towels, so we bought one instead. They also would not give water at restaurant you need to buy bottle water. The cost of the stay was very reasonable. We used the hotel as a central place to meet and then we headed out to all the different beaches and restaurants.
