Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Spinning ceiling fan fell on child

First room was not fit to stay in, should never have been assigned considering no shower head, wall sconce was on bench, patio door unable to open, 2 huge holes in ceiling Second room the spinning ceiling fan fell on a child in bed, hotel did nothing, no credit or new room, and zero communication from hotel management or the travel agent Waterpark supposedly closed due to water pipe burst yet it was obviously to paint the kid area as they miraculously opened for one afternoon when people c [... read more]omplained Most restaurants were closed including buffets and beach bar for our whole trip, impossible to get reservations to the a la cartes Beach was terrible, we travel twice a year and by far this was the worst resort and beach of all the places we've been..... Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Gorgeous and Delicious

This beautiful resort is on a stunning stretch of beach, and if the ocean isn't your thing, there are so many pools! The food everywhere is great - at the buffet, the themed restaurants, even the poolside food trucks. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the whole place is just lovely. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. If I had one complaint it would be the evening entertainment. The evening shows are held outside by the main pool. There is not enough seating to accommodate every [... read more]one and the shows themselves are difficult to watch while standing. In other resorts there are cultural, comedy and music shows to watch after dinner in a separate theatre, and often a disco-like space for dancing and drinking until late. If you enjoy this kind of late-night vibe, we didn't find it here. We did take a couple of excursions which were amazing. Catamaran trips to Isla Mujeres, cultural tours of Mayan ruins and other trips are available at reasonable rates. We really enjoyed our week!

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Not disappointed

Retuned at Viva Maya for the second time. The resort really covers my needs. Food is exceptional and plenty. The grounds are well maintained and there’s plenty of entertainment during the day and at night. Rooms are clean. The only small hiccup was that the bathroom had a bad odour and we had to have the bathroom fan on all the time. Other than that we love the resort and will go back in a heartbeat

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Family centred place

Very roomy property. There were so many lounge chairs with lots of access to shade. Only drawback was the water system in the rooms for showers. I am sure things will get updated but no warm water in the mornings and poor water pressure. One other detail. Enjoyed everything about this property. Good food, nice beach, nice room, great service, fun entertainment and amenities. Lots to do. Water slides, lazy river. Shout out to Victor in the dining room for breakfast. He helped us celebrate a special birthday. Specialty restaurants were excellent. Nice and close to the airport

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Wonderful Resort

Have only wonderful things to say about this resort. Group of 5 of us went for 7 days. Beautiful and clean grounds. Nice to check out the other hotels along the beach. Food and à la carts were great. Won’t go hungry. Entertainment was good. Area by the palace had the best swimming. Great snorkeling there. The staff do their best to upkeep the grounds.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Best vacation ever!

Absolutely stunning and massive resort. Rooms were spacious and exceptionally clean. Food was amazing (buffets and a la cartes). Pool was massive. Beach was fantastic with amazing snorkeling - we saw sea turtles, stings rays and tons of fish! Staff were so attentive. Wildlife was amazing (we saw coatis, deer and spider monkeys right on the resort)! Highly, highly recommend!

Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All Inclusive: Excellent Experience

Travelled with 4 adults and 4 kids under 5. Shuttle from airport was easy via Nexus. Grounds are beautiful and perfectly kept. The food was honestly amazing. Buffet breakfast and lunch had so many options and all the servers are so kind and friendly. Note that you HAVE to book a speciality restaurant at night for dinner. There is no regular buffet dinner but we preferred that. We booked all of our 7 nights within an hour of arriving at concierge as they tend to fill up. All 5 restaurants are ama [... read more]zing. Loved the churros at the kids club and the cafe at reception for ice cream. Room was perfect - new and clean. Very comfy beds and housekeeping was great at working around our baby's nap schedule. We were in Casa 6 in front of the kids area which was easy to get to the kids pool, adult pool and breakfast and lunch easy at Vela Sur. The Kids club is also amazing and the staff is great. We brought on own pack and play in case they didn't have a crib ready but there was one in our room (note that the crib can fit in the shower if you are trying to get some separation at night.) Pools were warm and loved that you could walk the length of the property on the beach. It got more busy towards the end of the stay which could mean waiting for shuttles to and from your room and the main area but we never had any issues. Would highly recommend this property for families and would go back!

Secrets Tulum Resort and Beach Club: Awesome resort…

If you’re OK to take a 10-15 minute shuttle to the beach. The beach club was lovely. I was a little disappointed in how many vendors were allowed on the beach considering it is a “private” beach club. Food at all of the restaurants was amazing. I would say the best of any resort I’ve been to. Rooms were clean and comfortable the AC was a little noisy. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Viva Maya by Wyndham: Reasonable

The grounds were lovely and the beach of course is amazing. We noticed that the rooms are not very sound proof and that was disappointing. We were not happy with the quality of the draft beer or the a la carte restaurant food. We thought the buffet food and lobby entertainment was great.

Always well tended grounds with attentive staff who make you feel like an old friend though we have been to this hotel multiple times They recognize some of hotel looks are dated and and are planning investment in upgrades shortly

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Food

There was definitely a lot of food in the hotel. However, the buffet needs better chefs. The flavours of the food were really off. The captain morgan grill had the best tasting food overall. I do think that the chef's need a bit of training. Anything fried was totally soaked in oil. As if fried in cold oil. Like I said a lot of good food however taste was not there. The rooms had issues as well, we asked for our tap to be fixed many times. Thank you Angelina for choosing an amazing resort to spend with my family. Resort was very clean the staff were always willing to help. Food at buffet and the restaurants was delicious. Lots of activities for all ages. Loved watching my grandkids snorkel in the ocean was priceless. Thanks so much.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Great Resort

We really enjoyed our stay, This is by far the largest resort my wife and I have ever stayed at, The resort is kept very clean, pools were great and the food was amazing. Most importantly the staff that worked at the resort were for nice.There were lots of restaurants and bars you did not have to go far to get food or drinks and of course the waiters were everywhere and always willing to help

Catalonia Yucatan: Great location

Just spent two weeks there. Rooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. There is great pool space and seemed like there were enough loungers at the pool and the water. The attention to food allergies was top notch. They ask at every meal if there are allergies and they took my gf around to show her what was available for her. They even cooked for her separately. It’s a short walk into town. The shows next door were great. They could use a lounge bar in the evening. We had a 5 al La car [... read more]te max in two weeks. We had 3 to choose from. It is a chill resort. Livelier next door, which we had access to. Beach is rocky but there is a way in that is sandy. Good snorkeling in front of the resort.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Great resort for standard budget!

Buffets especially breakfast great. Rooms slightly outdated and there wasn't a chest of drawers to store clothes. Grounds and facilities great and very friendly staff. A la carte could be hit and miss. Would have liked a better understanding of ability to access other connected resort beyond use of the pools. Extremely clean everywhere and had lots of amenities for adults and kids.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Another Stay in a Lovely Resort

We have stayed at Iberostar (Waves) Paraiso del Mar (as well as Iberostar Paraiso Beach) multiple times--and it remains one of our favourite resorts! While it was not pefect, it was still very enjoyable. FYI the negatives--We found the "Concierge" diversion after check-in to be not worth our time (discouraged us from meeting with our Air Canada rep to find out our transfer time because she wanted us to attend her "presentation" on the selection/club membership instead), and she did not advise  [... read more]us on the ability to book restaurant reservations on the app (usually after 1030 PM the night before) versus coming in the morning to see her. As well, the coatis near the garbage cans at the far pool area have learned to go inside and overturn them, making a mess and becoming pests a bit (Please, people, do not feed them or leave food on your lounger area or even in a bag, and be aware that they do bite--let them be). As well, at times the internet speed was not up to streaming, but one could always check emails. But these experiences were dwarfed by all the positives--a beautiful beach and pool area (and staff did confiscate belongings from chair hogs sometimes), with enough loungers and shade for everyone to enjoy the experience; delicious food at the buffet restaurants--the Plaza on the Beach side was our favourite--don't miss the Asian night for sashimi, tuna tataki, and other favourites. As well, we enjoyed the Mexican themed night at La Plaza. There was always something tasty to eat--from omelettes freshly made (small tips accepted but not required), many vegetable and fruit choices, healthy proteins including fish and seafood, and comfort foods, too. We enjoyed the French El Colonial restaurant (we lined up 20 minutes before the first seating to guarantee a spot)--order multiple Burgundy escargot appetizers if you want to share escargot (3 snails per appetizer), note that the Mezclum salad fried brie was a much larger sharable portion, and the Caribe Chocolate cold souffle sphere and wild berries was a delight! As well, I found the reservation for the El Rodizio was very worth our while--feel free to request a hotter sauce (we enjoyed what a believe may have been a habernero cream sauce in small amounts). The coffee shop in the shopping plaza area was a favourite, and there was ice cream and crepes also nearby. The gym was wonderful, and there were enough activities available to stay busy if one wanted. We found the ceramic painting to be ridiculously overpriced ($30 USD for a 3 inch plate??), though. We find this place perfect for families and all ages. We don't require air-conditioned buffets (the shade and fans keep the area very cool), and prefer the birds and animals in these resorts versus the more expensive Lindo/Maya resorts. PS rooms can be chilly with the A/C--bring pjs and feel free to request a blanket.

The Sens Riviera: Beautiful resort

We just got back from sens rivera tulum and I have to say what a beautiful resort , the grounds is gorgeous lots of walk way etc , its a small resort more on the quiet side what we liked , there is entertainment in the evening.. there was i believe 8 restaurants you dont need reservations which worked well for us..The food was good too not the best but ok..buffet had everything you need..The beach is beautiful except its a rocky beach we were wearing water shoe to go in the oce [... read more]an but was so beautiful to see the fishes the water was clear...we had an amazing time ..the employees was very helpful and kind the coffee shop had delicious coffee whatever you need you could get it...our room was updated we had no problem ..the beach is small so we had to get up every morning at 620 to make sure we got our chairs for the day at the beach ⛱️..was hilarious but we did it , over all good resort we love it.

We were placed on the 4th floor, and the elevators were not working most of the time. I have knee pain, and going up and down the stairs daily caused me significant discomfort and pain. There was no assistance offered, and staff showed little concern for my situation. For a resort that claims to be luxury and all-inclusive, it was not senior-friendly and did not accommodate guests with mobility issues. I would not recommend this hotel, especially for elderly guests or anyone with knee or mobility problems.
