Room was clean and nice, beach was gorgeous, grounds and workers were nice, food was average, needed more of a variety for buffet, weather was hot and beautiful each day, great location from airport. Anna, Juliette, Christina were my favorite staff

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Amazing Staff

This resort had a very accessible location, great food and amazing staff. Our luggage was delayed five days and everyone, including the manager was so helpful from resort vouchers to a couple of free shirts from the hotel. The snorkeling on the beach was perfect - better than some of our snorkel trips we have paid for at other islands. We can not say enough about the level of service we received.

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: The best!!!

We stayed at the Jewel Runaway Bay Sept 12 to 19, 2015. This resort is truly amazing. The food was great, the room was amazing and the service was impeccable. The staff were so friendly and helpful.Would recommend .

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Enjoyable trip

Jewel Runaway was great! In summary: the hotel is a good 4 star in my opinion and is generally very children and family oriented. the food is great, lots to do for children and the staff are AMAZING!! Altogether we had a great time! And might go back! Now on to the details! 1. Ride from the airport to the hotel: about 80 min - which the driver made it interesting for us by pointing out interesting sites on the way (and even stopping for people to take pictures)! So at the end, most of us really enjoyed the ride (more like tour bus!). 2. Arriving at the hotel: Upon arrival, the hotel seemed very small and dark and nothing like hotels I have seen in DR, Cuba or Costa Rica. There was no "Welcome drink" or welcome anything! No one was there to guide us to where we needed to go. 3. Checking in: the process was very simple, easy and quick. Unfortunately, the flight was not timed well with the hotel check-in time!!! We arrived I think around 11 or so, and the check-in was at 3! That was not good especially since all of us were up early in the morning for our 6 am flight! I was dying, so my husband kept asking if the room was ready and eventually at about 1:30 they gave us a room which was nice of them! 4. The room: it was nice, clean and comfortable! The minibar has only water and pop and no alcoholic drinks...we were happy with the contents! 5. food: The food at the main buffet is good. I eat most kinds of food, and I could almost always find things that I liked. they always had Jamaican food, which was amazing! I loved jerk chicken and even bought the spice to make it at home!! :) The a la cart restaurant were all "fantastic". the food tasted soooo good that i often ordered 2 plates just for me! the best restaurant in my opinion was Platinum. they had AMAZING tasting dishes, with fabulous designs and super nice staff! we ended up having dinner and breakfast there I think 5 days!! too bad they were closed for lunch! 6. pools there are 2 main pools and a little pool with the swim-up bar. deep pool - was nice with the deep area clearly marked. They could have tried to keep it a little cleaner. Small pool, good enough i guess for people with small children Pool with a swim-up bar: good, but usually not staffed and we had to wait for some time or go out for a drink! 7. Bars: Drinks were great! there were quite a few and any where in the resort you were close enough to a bar to get a nice drink. 8. Entertainment and activities: Well, we only stayed twice for the evening entertainment and it was really worth staying up for. the talent show was interesting! I think the entertainment group could have tried to engage the guests a little more. for example, a lot of resorts have the entertainment team going around in the pool and start various games, like pool volleyball, etc. but the team at Jewel, wasnt really active in that sense. most i saw was 1 or 2 of the girls asking trivia questions usually around 2-3 and giving jewel dollars to cash in the gift shop. 40,000 Jewel dollar is about 3 dollars at the gift shop!!!! 9. Gift shop: Don't buy rum there. I bought small bottles of rum cream at the hotel for $5, the exact same bottle was $2.5 at the airport!! 10. Water park: good and as much fun as the brochure and website say! we enjoyed it!! 11. Staff: AMAZING!! they are making the difference in this hotel. their general manager, I think Scott Robin, should be commended for the training of the staff and the quality of service the provide. Everywhere in the hotel, staff are nice, smiling, sweet and asking you how they can make your stay nicer! I couldn't ask for nicer staff in a resort! 12. Beach: was nice, quite, soft, sandy....lovely!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Average Resort

Resort needs some updating, Rooms are average/we toilet back up everyday. Food was a three at best, la carte restaurants where not very good. No activities , poor service. No service at beach. Needs updating and better cleaning....

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Return trip

Nice beach. Excellent staff. Food is OK. Lots of variety. Underwhelming decor in lobby and entrance area. Poorly lit . No AC in lobby or restaurants except Platinum. More umbrellas needed on the beach.

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Amazing Family Resort

the reviews on this resort are spot on!!! great family vacation with the kids. Friendly helpful staff always going beyond to service you , Food was amazing and Lots of different options. Rooms were clean , grounds were kept clean , beach was amazing and waterpark was fun for the whole family . Id recommend This resort for any family to go , I will go back again for sure!!

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Great Value

There was so much to do at this resort and too little time. Great beach & house reef, sea sports, pools, access to water park any time (with food and towels). Morning work outs, night entertainment. Plenty of choice for eating. Kid's activities. And we did not even use the golf course or tennis courts.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Lots of Fun

The daily activities were fun the entertainment team did a great job to accommodate us with football and pool volleyball. Dinner was good at most restaurants, we did not enjoy the Italian restaurant. All the beer except for the beers in the mini bar in the room were not enjoyable. All other drinks were good. Night time shows needed more seats to be able to sit and enjoy, after the show the guests all when back to their rooms not much nightlife unless you go off the resort.

Memories Jibacoa: Very nice holiday!

Very Nice holiday! Our oceanview room(suite) was excellent. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The food was good but lacked diversity. The beach is very nice but water shoes are necesary as there are a lot of rocks.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great Family Resort

The service impeccable the food was delicious the hotel & room was clean and well attended. We had an amazing week there. The only issue we had was with the towel & umbrella attendant. He accused me of taking an umbrella and wanted to charge me for a lost and stolen umbrella which I didn't take. I spent almost hour waiting for them to sort it out!

THIS IS A FIRST CLASS RESORT. I NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL. THE PEOPLE WERE FRIENDLY ALWAYS AND ALWAYS SMILING. THIS IS ALSO A GREAT RESORT FOR KIDS. THE WATER PARK IS EXCELLENT AND YOU CAN'T BEAT THE DAYCARE.

Memories Jibacoa: Our honeymoon

We arrived on Tues. Sept 1st and the beginning of our time at the resort was good. The resort is small and beautiful and the beach is incredible! The rooms were quaint and clean. The food wasn't amazing and there wasn't a huge variety but you certainly wouldn't go hungry. Most of the staff there were happy and friendly. My biggest complaint is the food handling safety. Different raw meats are all cooked on the same grill using the same flipper. I was served my cooked chicken with a slipper cover [... read more]ed in raw hamburger that was just added to the grill. I did notice a few times that my chicken wasn't fully cooked. I'd push it to the side and just thoroughly inspect each piece. Stupidly, I continued to order it. My husband got really sick on the Friday night (throwing up & diarhea) and was sick in bed all day Saturday. Sunday morning he was feeling better and we went for a swim in the pool. Sunday after lunch I became really ill. I threw up violently and had terrible diarhea until Monday night. I slept on a beach towel on the bathroom floor Sunday night. We flew home on Tuesday and I wasn't sure they'd let me on the plane I was so sick and weak. We will have been home a week tomorrow and I'm just now starting to feel better. Our honeymoon was ruined. :( I would definitely recommend that this resort be inspected for food safety!

Great resort, with good food, activities for families with kids and friendly staff. Would definately go again. would be nice if when we arrive , there is something like a welcome drink and luggage is more organized. Other wise had a great time.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: A Good 1st stay with a few glitches.

The Good- The resort is very Safe and Clean and nicely laid out. In our room,the beds were fantastic, mini fridge topped up daily (beer/water/ and sodas), bathroom was great, (tub and Shower with rainfall head and hand spray ), modern and clean. We had a partial view of ocean and the resort/pools. The a la carte restaurants, had outstanding food and service, incredible meals, and was able to get in every night no problem 1st come 1st serve no reservations required, I can not stress how good the [... read more] meals we had were, both quality quantity and presentation, never once used salt or pepper. we ate at Oceana twice Bluewater Grill twice and Da Mario once, as well the café shop was good ( better coffee's and frozen caffeine drinks) The people were very friendly and did try hard to make everyone's stay the best as possible. The entertainment group were fantastic keeping everyone busy and entertained, they filled a canoe with ice and beer, while they brought a chef with a huge 3 foot wok style skillet and cooked a Paiyee on the Beach, walking through the how too, and ingredients, that was soo delicious, they had a Carnival parade that was free and loud with costumes and a marching percussion.... Awesome, daily games, nightly music, and gave away shirts, and bottles of liquor for participating. Beach always had chairs and easy to find nice natural palm tree shade, the water was fantastic for snorkeling,( great fish to observe) and floating, we did bring floating chairs to use as the rock break eliminates the waves making floating in the Ocean sooo enjoyable, and a nice way to soak up the sun with your favorite beverage, floating like a big pool. The Bad The Buffet on the other hand I really did not enjoy the breakfast on any day, the coffee was awful, the fruit was soft, or out (melons), the eggs were watery, it was the only meal as we did try dinner two nights and the dinner was ok, it was only the breakfast that was very unappealing. The A/C in our room was very weak, stayed on turned to 16 degrees and ran always and never even came close to 24 degrees, ( but to be fair it hit 37 degrees celcius out while we were there, it was extremely hot way above normal) We had an odd slight sewer smell walking into bathroom always. No iron or ironing board ( other couples did have our room did not). No blow dryer, called and one was brought, but no 110 plug in bathroom, had to use the plug in the room. Oddly 1st room ever to not have a alarm clock, no time unless you used TV. Had a few issues with our safe, required maintenance to come twice. Sliding Door fell off of track 1st 5 minutes we were there and sliced my big toe, turning it black and blue, the door was really hard to open as I pulled hard it came off, the hotel staff did come and have a look, at my foot, and apologised. I did not press for anything other than the door to be fixed so we could start our holidays, they reinstalled it back on the track and said it would be fixed the next day, four days later Maintenance did come and "fix " it, they screwed the door shut and asked to only use the other half.

Memories Jibacoa: Great Resort

My brother and I spent 5 days at Memories Jibacoa in August. It was our first trip to Cuba and this property/location was chosen so that we would be relatively close to Havana. We did not go with real high expectations of Cuba but we were pleasantly surprised. Our trips to Havana and to Varadero were excellent - thanks to Eric who was our guide. My brother was able to play a round of golf in Varadero (very nice golf course) while I went to the markets and did some sighseeing. Our room was on the [... read more] 2nd level, oceanview in building 3. Very nice room, great location (close to a reasonably well equipped gym). Beach area was very nice (not too crowded). Well planned entertainment on the beach with teams participating in different games and beach volleyball. After hearing very bad reviews regarding food from family and friends, we were pleasantly surprised with the food at this resort. We were happy with all our meals (especially the omelette and the fish). I took a small bottle of hot sauce which helped. I was not crazy about the white wine they served in the dining hall and the fact that since Mojito is supposed to be Cuba's famous cocktail we couldn't get that at the bar because they didn't have the mint leaves. A couple of times when we did get that drink they had put just a sprig of mint leaf - not crushed. This was disappointing. On the whole we had a great experience and since we were not expecting much because of the reviews from friends and family we were pleasantly surprised. I would go back to Memories Jibacoa with my friends. Five days was long enough and I really liked the resort and our oceanview room.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Beatiful resort, but....

Resort has beatiful location, rooms are bit dated ( 7000, 8000 buildings). Beatiful beaches, perfect for snorcheling. This hotel has lousy entertaiment staff (not much going on all day long! There is no disco at night, so You' re better off at Mambo Beach, righr next to the resort.) The food at A La-Carte Restaurants is allright ( no reservations needed) Main Bufet is very repetitive. (Lousy service) We upgraded our room to VIP ( worth the money to my oppinion, room # 7222), beatifull panoramic  [... read more]ocean view. Bathroom dated with bad layout. The best bar service is definitely at VIP section ( 8000 building), thanks to perfect service of bartenders Rosio and Keneth ( well done gyus!) I would come back, but only with our kids ( very kids friendly) Travelled as a couple in mid August.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: It was okay. .

The beach and locations was great !! However rooms were pretty run down , food was mediocre and drinks all tasted the same. The staff sat around talking alot instead of serving and when serving the were very slow !!

Hotel Los Cactus: We loved it!

We liked the rooms, the beach, the shows. The main restaurant is too hot, though! Some staff were really nice, others not so much (I guess they're tired of serving tourists) Food was better than expected.

Memories Jibacoa: Very Limitted Resort

The facilities are well maintained and the resort overall is what anybody can expect from a 2 stars resort, their staff is full of unhappy people, they don't greet you when you arrive, and the bartenders and waitresses they don't say Hi, Hello or Thanks in English or Spanish, they make you feel unwelcome. Currency exchange, Spa, Gym, gift shops and towel exchange are available only from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm
