Very friendly, accommodating staff.

This is an older hotel but the staff kept the buildings and grounds very clean. They could have paid a little more attention to small details such as making sure that there was always toilet paper available in the common areas and having the hand dryers working or paper towels in lieu of that. The staff members were always very friendly, and very kind and helpful.

Average resort

Did not like all the smoking expeciately the cigars in the lobby drinks where to strong lack of ice cubes lucky to get two small ones per drink long line ups for food not enough grills for the amount of people shows starts to late no hot water In the mornings for a shower mosquitos in the rooms got eaten alive food was just edible employers were fabulous very friendly beach was beautiful

The best relaxed resort

Club Amigo is a very relaxing resort, with lots to do or not do which ever your choice is. We have gone to this resort 8 times now and will go back again. Anytime we have ever had a problem, the employees have always taken care of us right away. Beautiful surroundings, trees, beaches and rooms. An very inexpensive trip for the ones that can't afford too much but will be impressed with 5 star surroundings in a 3 star resort. Well worth the trip.

Not as good as it used to be.

My wife and I have been to Club Amigo 20 times but after this trip we may never go back! It was always a fun place to go to but something has changed. The swim-up pool was green for two days until it was treated. The Santa Maria snack near the swim-up pool was often running out of fish, spaghetti, and fries daily. The 24 hour sank bar was a much better option for lunch but they got as bad as the other snack-bar towards the end of our second week. The food wasn't too bad, we always found something to eat and one could always get a good breakfast! Some of the older staff had been moved, (don't know where). They had a lot of students working in the snack-bars who should have been trained better. I can't say anything about the entertainment as we didn't go to any of it. We have gone back many times as the staff were always made us welcome. The hotel is under new management I was told. I raised my concerns with the new manager, so we'll have to see if he listened!

Amazing place and people

Had a wonderful time. The place is amazing with a bazar right on the grounds. Easy to get around. The beaches are so beautiful and no complaints about the villas. Good food, good friends! Will definitely go back for a fourth time!!!!!

Beautiful grounds!

I was in a villa from Jan 1 to 8 as well as last year in march. I loved the grounds,weather, beach. whatever was natural was beautiful. For whatever reason the rest is not: Room: Walls are chipped and then painted over. Nobody thought of fixing the wall before painting it? Drawer set did not have a single knob. To open drawer you had to be inventive. hair dryer did not work in the room. Tv did not work in the room. They will close it every evening for " specialty restaurant " and send you to the other restaurant. The other restaurant will just be closed at the same time anyways. You could walk up to a bar by the square pool and ask for fries, and be told that they don't have any fries. ( turns out they do, but don't want to fry only for you!!) My wife waited 15 minutes at the swim up bar to get a drink and she was the only one at the bar !! For some reason, the dude found it cool to ignore her..She was even calling him out loud.. head down and he kept looking at his sink doing dishes. Continuous lineups at the restaurant ( for whatever reason.. ) Once in there you'd see 8 or 10 tables free, but nobody cleaning them up, while the hostess doesn't let others in .. Couldn't understand that. I understand that 3 star is exactly 3 star and I didn't get bothered by these things, we had fun anyways. However I don't understand that some of these things which are easily correctable are not corrected or even inspected before guests are in the room.. Entertainment stuff does not follow their own schedule posted .. ( My niece wanted to play beach or pool volleyball ) but nobody was there. There was one day out of 7 where volleyball was played either at the pool or by the beach. Returning guests are supposed to get lobster dinner but even getting that was a hassle and you were made feel like you are asking for something for free when it's the resort who set the rule, I just wanted to take advantage of it. Locals will approach you on the beach to either offer drinks ( for a fee) or just plain beg money or things from you. If these things don't bother you, this is fantastic place! 4 pools, long beach, white sand, drinks included.. sun and palm trees.. perfect. This was the cheapest 3 star at the time.. and I'm not sure it's worth 1000$ per person in peak season even with all in.

Wonderfull resort

We had a great time, not one thing to say bad about resort, perveCT 2 weeks, everyday sunny vacation; can't wait to return; service was awesome. A variety of different foods, plenty of pools to choose from, all with snack bars to choose from. Highly recommended.

Wonderfully Affordable Getaway

This is our second time at this resort we really enjoy the staff they are always friendly and helpful. There are many pool, restaurants and beaches to enjoy. If you like to shop the market is right across the street with some different vendors every day. We are looking forward to going back next year and booking again through trip central they have the most helpful staff.

Amazing resort.

The resort was very nice, beautiful nature, people, food, beach, services and attractions. The celebration of the New Year was great and we had very good time. The A la cart restaurants were nice and the atmosphere was nice as well.

Friendly place to vacation

Grounds were very clean, staff friendly most spoke good english, food was good it is an older resort but well kept it is huge, it was my 2nd visit but first for my sister in Cuba very satisfying.The beach is superb.

Excellent value

Stayed for 10 days of a family vacation with 2 kids and my parents over Christmas holidays. We stayed at the bungalow section which is well worth the upgrade. The good: Beautiful beach. Friendly staff. Food at the bungalow buffet restaurant was good, always something fresh on the grill, good pasta, great fresh fruit. A la carte restaurants were excellent as well, with excellent steaks and great fresh fish on the menu. The bad: Locals have access to the beach. Its such a shame, because the beach is spectacular and its a shame on the locals not to respect their own gorgeous nature.

Will not be going back

Very disappointing, My parents were there last year and could not say enough about this place. Sunwing Rep, Very Rude. She told me i know how to book a vacation, i guess you don't. I guess that would be not booking threw Sunwing. When you book a bungalow you should get a bungalow. Put us in a room with 2 cots and did not want to move us. If the hotel did anything for you they wanted you to pay more. To get one guy a band aid they wanted 10 pecos. Wow this place is not a place to go now. No towel [... read more]s for 2 days. Will not be going back. The locals at the beach would not leave us alone. Drinking and throwing their empty bottles, on the beach. Keep being inappropriate to my girlfriend, security did make them leave when she was on the grounds of the hotel and they were yelling at her for sexual acts.

Everithing you paid for.

Room could be better, but, overall, one thing compensate for another. Beech, pools, hospitality - great! Looking forward for another stay at this resort. Probably spending more time on the available excursions.

Excellent beaches and family fun!

Club Amigo is a personable, well laid out resort. The beaches are superb and you have your choice of the larger beach and two other smaller coves. You can snorkel from the beach as well. The hotel itself is older and a bit run down, but it is really all about the amazing staff and incredible beaches. The food is plain fare but plenty of it. Don't skip the ice cream!

Great first trip to Cuba

I just returned from my first trip to the Caribbean. I took my two teenage Granddaughters to Cuba for Christmas. It was amazing. The resort was very nice - we did upgrade our room for a small fee. The beach was beautiful with wonderfully warm water. The food wasn't the best but we expected that so it wasn't a surprise. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Overall it was a wonderful trip to a very nice resort.

Enjoyed the sun

The resort staff were very rude to us, not all of them, but it was enough that it was memorable. Our room was dirty when we got there and they told us it wouldn't be cleaned until the next day. We went earlier in the season so most of the al la carte restaurants were closed and the ones that were open did not serve food any better than the main area to eat. The food overall was enjoyable. The water was safe to drink since it was filtered. The excursions were fun but the busses were consistently  [... read more]about 30 minutes late. The scenery was beautiful, the beach was nice although it's technically considered to be off the resort so the moment you go towards the ocean you have people trying to sell you stuff which can get irritating when you're just trying to swim. The weather was nice most of the time, it rained a few days but that obviously couldn't be helped. Overall the only thing I really liked about it was that the food and drink didn't make us sick and we got nice tans.

Good hotel very bad travel

We had a good time at the resort and our trip there went on schedule . Coming home was a nightmare.Last day we found out the our plane was going to be 5 hours late .The bus was now going to pick us up at 9pm instead of 5 pm . Bus didn't reach the hotel until 10:40pm, what a long day. we were told that our flight was now to at 01:00 the next morning . When we got to the airport it then changed to 02:20.I initially thought I would be getting home around 02:00 am. I got home for 08:00am. Beautiful place.........lousy atmosphere

I arrived on site at 7 in the evening and booked into my room. Upon entering,there was an extreme odor of humidity and mold. There was a band of mold around the room about 12 inches high. I had specified queen bed but there were two singles in the room. ı went into the bathroom and when I flushed,there was a squealing for about 10 minutes from the toilet. Next to the T.V. The next day, i managed to change rooms but they charged me an upgrade. when I told the lady that it was not my fault that there were no more rooms available to me,she replied....it is not my fault either.......I paid.I understand that the resort is a 3 and a half stars so I accepted what that meant. the food was good but not a lot of choice. The service was not great. The worst thing that i encountered really bad was the aggressiveness of the people there. Lots of confrontations including myself on 3 occasions. The bar was small and not a lot of choice.Service was slow. On the beach we had to pay for drinks and food which I had never encountered in other places in Holguin. when this was calculated into the cost,it was the same price as going to a 4 star hotel. I don't like to complain because I understand the difference between a 3 star and a 5 star hotel in Cuba.

Great!

Food was great for cuba, crystal clear waters, could'nt ask for anything more. I didn't except such cleanliness at the resort and I was shocked. So many restaurants to choose from. Best of all... the staff!!

Great time

Hotel was clean, food had a lot of variety and there was lots of activities, eg. Minnie put competitions, ping pong competitions, bingo, dance lessons, morning yoga and even a drink making competition every day. Jeep excursion was a lot of fun.
