Too quiet

First time to an adults only and will probably be our last as average age is low to mid 70s. Very few activities during the day and not well advertised tried rifle shooting one day the rifle was held together with duct tape. It was crowded and had to be up early to get a place at the pool and there was a bad smell at the beach so didn't go in the ocean. The a la carte's were all good but the buffet needs lots more staff, one dinner time we were half way through our meal when we finally got a drink. The wait staff are not too friendly but I think they are overwhelmed and it also doesn't open very early. The staff at the pool snack bar however are also very busy but very friendly and a lot of fun. We didn't see any of the animation team until the day before we left up until then we though they didn't have any. The night time entertainment was good especially the water show.

The best resort and vacation we've had in Cuba!

Upgraded to Royal Service and were overwhelmed by unlimited 'Royal ServiceS'. The unlimited champagne is a very nice VIP ! The butler service brought our breakfasts, all special orders, for us to luxuriate on our Bungalo's veranda. The open air Rain Shower in our back private patio was super refreshing and the jacuzzi tub was Nancy's wake up delight. Amazing Week in Paradise!

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The staff was very friendly and greeted us with a welcome glass of champagne. The resort grounds were beautiful and our room was very clean and in a very good location (building #36) about half way in between the lobby and the pool (but a little closer to the pool and beach area). Our maid Yolangis was lovely, very friendly and greeted us with a smile each morning. She took good care of us by ensuring our room was clean and well stocked each day. It  [... read more]was nice to have beach towels in the room upon arrival. The pool was very nice, clean, with lovely views of the ocean, although it could use a little paint refresh. No problem ever getting a lounge chair in either the sun or shade. The bartenders were great and took good care of us at the swim up bar. The beach was also amazing - clean with beautiful white sand beach. Everyday staff helped us procure loungers under an umbrella and we spent hours in the crystal clear, warm water swimming, looking at all the colourful fish and occasionally feeding them bread. Lots of coral, so great for snorkeling, but also lots of sandy areas for swimming. The food was also very good. The first day we arrived at noon and they were having a pig roast on the beach, which was amazing. We loved the a la cartes - the food and service was very good and we also had no trouble and enjoyed the service and food at the buffet as well. Lots of variety and the wait staff was very friendly. The nightly entertainment was also very well done. The young entertainers worked so hard and were very talented. We enjoyed a couple of water ballet events which were amazing and one night there was a circus, which was very entertaining. We also went to the YHI Spa and enjoyed a very relaxing couples massage by the ocean, which was amazing. The staff took very good care of us and pampered us with drinks and a lunch by the ocean on the deck. Our Sunwing Rep Madeline was also wonderful, answered all of our questions, and helped us connect with our daughter who was on vacation in Holguin at a resort about five minutes away. On a daily basis we would run into Carlos, who seemed to be a customer service manager, and he would greet us warmly and ask us if we were enjoying ourselves and if we needed anything. The extra special touches we received at Paradisus Rio de Oro really made this a special vacation to remember and I would definitely recommend it and go back again. However, I would like to try the Royal Service next time as I heard so many good things about it and perhaps go for nine days in order to really feel relaxed. Truly Spectacular !!!!!!1

The rooms were well cleaned and no issues with anything. We used the room service provided and they were there within minutes. Snorkeling was amazing,and the food was fabulous!!!! We will go again......

All around amazing

We stayed at the paradises d'oro in January during a week of miserable. This was not the hotels fault. Even the weather was not good we had an amazing vacation. We upgrading into the bungalows with outside showers. Worth every penny. Our first stay in Cuba and because of the five star service and all around value for your money we will be returning. Staff are wonderful. Food is fabulous.

Perfect Honeymoon!

This place was the perfect place for our honeymoon. Excellent beach, amazing food, and really private and quite resort. I would love to visit again. The customer service met our every need. I can't think of any complaints. It is an excellent value resort.

Very relaxing holiday

The rooms were comfortable, the food was great. We used the spa all day except for lunch it was wonderful. The staff were friendly especially the food and beverage manager Carlos and George with the glasses at the reception. The a la carte meals were excellent. The pool was nice but it needed to be painted. The bus ride to the airport was time consuming having to drop off or pick up at other hotels. Next time I think I would take a taxi to the airport.

Beautiful resort.

Good food, good service, and very nice rooms. Nice grounds and resort is not too large so walking around is easy. Pool area overlooks beach giving great views. Beach is nice with snorkelling right of the beach area on reef.

What can I saw. In summary WOW! This is a well run resort, the facilities are beautiful, grounds well kept and peaceful without loud music blasting at you, the food is superb, and the staff is friendly and truly welcoming. I have stayed 5 times at my favorite resort in Cayo Santa Maria, and although the beach in Cayo Santa Maria is truly spectacular, the Paradisis Rio de Oro Resort is my new go-to destination. Beautiful resort.

This was our 4th stay at the Paradisus Rio De Oro and we were welcomed with a nice cool towel and cold drink. We stayed at the Royal Service . The food was as always delicious and the employees are all smiles and nothing is too much trouble for them. The Royal Service is very quiet and relaxing, if you like more entertainment then you are better of at the resort itself. We can't wait to go back and enjoy the friendliness of the Cuban people.

Amazing resort!!!!!

We loved this place..the grounds were so beautiful,the rooms were big and clean(we chose the Royal Service which you pay extra but well worth it)...the outdoor shower is amazing,the staff is courteous and accommodating and the food is good.

Can't wait to go back

Our only regret was not staying longer! The next trip to this resort will be 9 days so we will have 7 days without any travelling! The room was great with plenty of space, well laid out and clean the service was second to none! The beach and snorkelling opportunities where great.
