Excellent!

This was an awesome resort! We had a great time. There is lots happening, lots of people to meet! The staff are excellent! Everything is centrally located so it makes everything easy to access. We had room 3204! it was an excellent room, the maid everyone was great! If you needed a lift home, there was carts there to take you, if you wanted extra pillow it was there when you needed it! Wonderful family resort!

This resort was beautifully laid out and had so many neat areas to discover. My kids (3 and 5) had a blast, so much for them to do and see! Lots of walking but if you're tired you can catch a trolly back to your room. The beach was lovely and the pools were the best I've seen for young kids. The staff were so friendly and the food was pretty good, we especially liked the grill stations in the buffets and mojito bar for lunch (delicious chicken!). We would go back for sure!

Great Family resort

We had one of the rooms further from the pool, and the walk was a little far for the kids at times. Food was great, and the staff were all very helpful. Huge resort with a lot of different people. We swam with dolphins and took a horse and buggy ride to town and had a lot of fun.

Good Value

This resort has lovely tropical grounds, large pool, beautiful sand beach, very friendly people. It took a few days to figure out the best restaurants (we liked The Grill for lunch) and drinks were great. Large variety of food, worth it to get your eggs/meat cooked individually at the grills. The service staff are all very nice and accommodating. Romantico for a la carte was a favourite. Don't expect awesome food at the buffets but it's certainly ok for a week. Rooms are a bit outdated but clean [... read more]/beds fairly comfortable and that's what counts. We had a lot of hot water - no cold showers! There were a few ants in the bathroom as we were on the ground level but after a call to the front desk it was taken care of. The lobby is a nice gathering spot near the bar although smoky in the evenings. Great check-in service and the excursion we booked to Holguin and a little fishing town was fun.

Amazing time at Playa Pesquero

After hearing many negative things about Cuba we were reluctant to go. Having been to Mexico many many times we were used to the best. This resort was wonderful. The beach amazing, the food.....you would never go hungry. For those that have written reviews in the past and saying negative things about the food I was scared I would be horrible, it was amazing. Just beautiful humble people. The only negative thing I could say was the room was very dated......but really, how much time do you spend in a room when you have a beach like this one!!

My husband and I were at Playa Pesquero from March 17-24 and had an amazing vacation! This was our first visit to Cuba and we were a little concerned about the quality we should expect from any resort there, based on some of the reviews we had read. We were very pleasantly surprised with Playa Pesquero! There was a great variety of food, which we found to be delicious. The resort is fairly large and we loved strolling around, but there are always carts close by to hop on, if mobility is an issue, and they'll get you where you want to go. The beach, the grounds, the pool, the staff, the atmosphere, the weather......no complaints about anything! Some of the buildings are in need of fresh paint but others look like they've been painted recently, so I imagine that's always a work in progress with a resort of this size. This is a fantastic place to relax as a couple but it's also very much a family resort....lots to do for kids of all ages. We hope to be able to return next year with our four teenage kids. It's not at all hard to see why Playa Pesquero has a high return rate...we were already planning our return halfway through our week there! Highly recommend this resort...money well spent and enjoyed!!

Love this Place!

Never disappointing. The food, staff, beach, accomodations, etc. are wonderful. This was the 3rd time returning and there will be a 4th. The older section of the resort is starting to show it's age; however, the rooms are clean and in good repair. The premium section is gorgeous if you're interested in an Adults Only.

Great place/ Rough vacation

The first thing you will notice is that it is huge. It's like a small town .Their is lots to do and see with a different place to eat everyday. The rooms are nice and the service and the people are wonderful. The food is even good and they have lots of people ready to prepare your meal on the spot taking the focus off of the heat lamp cafeteria style buffets. My vacation had tons of potential but a gallbladder attack on the second day took much of the fun away. I can tell you that the medical center, doctors, and nurses are excellent. The hospital is very rough. Avoid that if you can. The Transat guys were great at helping me sort out some of the details regarding the Cuban medical system and insurance. You will find many reviews that talk about the lack of chairs for the pool and shady spots at the beach. It's true. The pool is huge but they could easily have another one to accommodate all of the guests. You get up at 5:30 and reserve your spot with a towel or shirt but beware, it may get stolen. Mine did. I was away from it for a couple of hours trying to get insurance straightened out for my medical bills. The only other thing that they could do better is get you checked in quicker. It took an hour and after 12hrs of traveling you just want to unwind. The building is getting a little older but they are working on things constantly. The public washrooms could use a little attention and unfortunately the water gardens are currently being removed. They really look nice though. I liked the place and would go back and I'm sure I would have the chance for a better vacation without the medical problem. Trip Central and Transat were great with everything they do and I loved the personal TV/game on the plane.

Amazing Resort

Playa Pesquero is truly a top notch resort with its beautiful grounds and fantastic dining facilities. Our room was spacious with plenty of closet space, king bed, end tables, sofa and arm chair with coffee table. Mini fridge etc. Very clean. This resort has a magnificent pool with swim up bar and plenty of lounge chairs. It offers an abundance of drinks to choose from and several areas of the resort to enjoy them. The beach area also had plenty of lounge chairs and many shady areas. Overall a magnificent place and we will be taking other family members to enjoy the wonderful experience that we had.

Pleasantly Surprised!

It was my 10th time to Cuba but first time to this resort. The rooms and buildings are dated but kept clean. It could use an update on the AC, ventilation and lighting. The shower always had good pressure and enough hot water. The a la carte restaurants - Italian, Seafood and Caribbean were great! Heard the Romantico, which is an International, was very good but only was able to book 4 for the week and couldn't get into this one. The main buffet was big and had multiple stations of the same food [... read more] so the line-ups were never very long. The beer garden that had small pub dishes was open 24 hours so we were able to grab dinner before our bus picked us up at 6 pm. The Hobbie Cat rides daily were fantastic! So much fun! At the beach, there were always enough chairs which a staff member put down for you and since the bar was very far, there was also a staff that served you drinks. Bring a travel mug for this purpose. It came in handy. Overall a very good resort for the money paid during March Break. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Everything you would want plus more.

The restaurants are all top notch.So many places to stop for a drink and a snack. The people at this resort are all above and beyond friendly.Pools and grounds are so clean. The maids do a great job with the rooms.We have been many times and we will be going back.

Wonderful Vacation!

My two sons and I had an amazing time at this resort! The resort had something for everyone. The beach was incredible and we spent most of our time there. Pools were nice too but we really went there for the beach. Food was exceptional with the buffets having an impressive variety to choose from. The a la carte restaraunts served scrumptous meals. The staff were friendly and helpful and were especially nice to my kids. We would certainly consider returning here for our next vacation.

AMAZING TRIP!!

This was my 4th time travelling to Cuba and this was by far the best resort I have stayed at. The rooms were a little outdated but clean and not falling apart. I've stayed at some with paint peeling off the walls and tiles not attached but none of that here. The food was great. Always something delicious. 4 a la cartes were included for the week and we used 3. We found that the buffet was just as good as a couple of them but highly recommend the Italian restaurant. Excellent bar service, massive [... read more] pool (very clean) and super friendly staff. The beach was pure white sand and beautiful warm ocean water. I have nothing bad to say about this trip. I would go back in a heartbeat!!

Best property in Cuba

Should be more expensive for what you get. Awesome five-star experience. Best bang for your buck. Vacationed to this property already nine times because of all it has to offer. Great for families. Great beach and great staff.

Needs a Overall Facelift..

Hotel was nice nothing special, badly needs a face lift in many areas, walkways throughout the complex are very old and in need of upgrading , Pool area also needs new cement work around pool. No activities around Pool area no inter- action with guests at all.. other than bingo. George and Paulo on the beach also helped with the great rides on the Catamaran rides George is the go to guy if you want to go fishing off a Catamaran, cheaper than the hotel prices...The Beer Market and Mojito Bar where our Favs, great drinks and great food at both places.. Beach area was very rocky and filled with garbage, cups, straws, beer cans, seaweed, and only one bar on the beach, had to walk too far to get a drink not enough staff on beach to serve you. Beach area was very slim from waters edge to end of sand to tree line , not large enough to accommodate the numbers of guests, felt squeezed all together... rocks all over the beach in sand and in the waters edge as you walked into the water.. very sharp and dangerous.. Not what we were expecting especially after the great time we had last year in Santa Maria...would never go back here...they need a Major upgrade, old and outdated...

Had a Wonderful Time!

The resort was beautiful, the ocean was magnificent. The people were extremely friendly. Nightly entertainment was a lot of fun. Dancing under the stars was awesome! Italian a la Carte was delicious .

Fabulous resort!

The lobby area is nice with comfortable furniture to sit and relax. The servants bring drinks, coffee and snacks. There are 3restaurants linked one to another so you are not exposed to a sun if you want to have a lunch in one or another restaurant. The variety of food is amazing, and everything is delicious. We had 4 suppers in the romantic restaurants (have to be booked in advanced) where we ordered lobsters. The room was large and modern. Fortunately there were not mosquitos. They have a car s [... read more]preading something in the air on alleys in the late evening, so no insects those I afraid the most to have in Cuba. Every evening we had a professionally directed performances. I definitely will go to that resort again. My first trip to Cuba met my expectations and dissolved my fires.

Beautiful Resort

Playa Pesquero is a big beautiful resort that is very well kept and run by the friendly and kind Cuban people. The gardeners are working everyday to keep the resort looking nice. Its is a larger resort that requires guests to walk if the golf carts are not available. The rooms are clean and well kept by the chambermaids through the week. They also have a drink service where they keep your fridge stocked of beer and water, which is very nice to have. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of foo [... read more]ds to choose from. The a la carts were good as well and had a variety of dinner choices. All restaurant servers went over and above to give us a great dining experience. There was always an evening show which we took in and enjoyed. We had a great week and plan to go back with the family in the future. And yes we would recommend this resort to friends!!

Playa Pesquero has room for improvement

Pros: - Beautiful grounds - Excellent food - Beautiful beach - Lovely touches such as fresh juice/water and cookies in the lobby area all day long. Cons: - Very large resort. While there are golf carts driving around periodically, they failed to show up at our room on numerous occasions which forced some of the older individuals in our group to walk far distances to some a la carte restaurants - One of our towels was stolen while we were in the water at the beach and the front desk said that we [... read more] would have to pay 15 CUC to make up for it even though it was not our fault. We felt that this was not fair and put a damper on our trip. - The currency exchange center was unable to provide single pesos (we tried several days/times). The lowest denomination was 3 pesos which was a little frustrating. We felt like this was a sneaky way of increasing the staff tip amounts. - Lack of entertainment. To clarify, while the shows in the evening were excellent, we felt as though the animation staff didn't make an effort to engage the guests during the day. There was no engagement at the pool (no aqua fit in the pool....no silly games....very strange to me). Also, when it was raining one day, all the guests gathered in the lobby and/or stage area and there was no music/etc to keep us entertained. A small effort would've gone a long way on this particular day.
