Everything was amazing exepted the food , the weather was perfect, sunny everyday.. They have a snack 24h , perfect for the people who's always starving lmao, the animation there and the service was just "wow" we going back in february,

Just OK

My husband and I stayed at Melia Las Dunas the week of November 23rd. I selected this hotel based on the reviews that were posted on trip advisor with the majority of them being very positive. Although we enjoyed our vacation I must add that we were both disappointed with the hotel overall. The hotel is dated and in much need of renovations to freshen it up (this includes rooms and pool area). Our first room was not up to par (major leak under bathroom sink which they fixed by shutting off the w [... read more]ater when we were out the first evening) and based on this I'm not even sure why when the resort is not at full capacity that they would assign this room (4815) to guests when they know (unless you wouldn't mind a big puddle in the middle of your bathroom) it will be an issue. With this being said our second room was much better. The food at the hotel is good but not very much of a variety from day to day. We love Cuba, have been there 2 previous times and will return at some point next year again.....but not to this hotel. Did we like the hotel...no. Would we recommend the hotel....no. Did it ruin our trip....no we still had a good time.

Worth It!

Was definitely worth what we paid. Grounds are well kept, food is okay (we didn't starve) rooms were clean, people were friendly. The beach is narrow for walking and laying on but water and sand is beautiful!

Amazing resort

Melia Las Dunas is an amazing resort. There you will find beaches like in your dreams, very helpfull people and a lot of activities all day/night long. Family area was seperated, therefore even for younger people a very comfortable stay!

Perfect holiday!

This resort was amazing from morning to night! It had three large buffet restaurants,even one at the beach! and many a la carte restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The large lobby is like the hub of the resort with bars and a theatre and multiple lounge areas for people to get together. Great shopping at the resort and nearby. ALWAYS something to do:dancing,water sports, shows, shopping, not to mention a beautiful beach. Rooms were clean and comfortable.Great shows and beach!!!

Truly relaxing!

Upon arrival the foyer is breathtaking. It is quite large and ironically we only saw folks in their golden years walking around. The beach, pool and grounds are well maintained and the workers are polite and attentive. The beer garden opens up a grill section for lunch. ..... fantastic!

Amasing Cuban Infusion

Great beach, great coffee, lively entertainment and surprisingly good food ;))) Would come back in a heartbeat… Although a family resort, the division of pools into adults and family on opposite sides of the resort makes for a nice balance, allowing a break to those tired parents in need for some moments of quietude…

Just fair, we only stayed two nites and moved

the grounds were beautiful, the rooms need work, and food was fair, entertainment awesome! the hotel for rooms and food need some TLC. The beach had a lot of seaweed which is natural but they didn't attempt to clean.

Good place to rest !

My husband and I stayed 5 days at the resort. A little break fro the routine was well needed and greatly appreciated, especially at that price ($488 p.p. all inclusive!). Cannot go wrong at that price! Food was good (for Cuba), the resort big, the room clean and beach was very nice but not that wide. My favourite things, the sun, the ocean and the musicians! Down side, a bit far from the airport.

Really fun trip!

Overall we had an amazing trip!!!! We travelled with 2 kids, 6 months and 6 years. We stayed in villa 26 so it was close to the pool and beach. The resort is huge and it seems like if you are travelling with kids they put you close to the pool. We only stayed on the family side pool and it was always very clean and never too busy. The rooms are okay. We stayed on the first floor and we think that had to do with finding a cockroach in our room every night. When we first got there the big sheet was clearly not cleane as there was gross women hair all over it, we just tossed it aside and used the lighter sheets which as typically cleaned after every stay. The beaches were unbelievable and the staff were all amazing. Never had a problem with ac. We never had hot water for showers but was always warm so not uncomfortable. No complaints there. The only complaint I have is the food was awful! It was to be expected as we we're warned and dd our research that you don't go to Cuba to eat. By the last day if I had to eat one more meal I would've rather starved. Luckily we brought lots of snacks from home, and ketchup, hot sauce they do have them there but their own brand which is different from home. Overall the resort is beautiful the landscaping is outstanding. We were a little worried about the 2 hour drive from the airport but we all enjoyed seeing Cuba and the buses were very comfortable. It was a great trip had by all. I would not go back to Cuba as there are many other places I would like to see and we'll I do love to eat good food.

Amazing Resort

We travelled to the Melia Las Dunas 08-15NOV 2014. We were awe struck at first site. It's beautiful. The lobby is very pristine and the staff are all very welcoming. The check in was quick and easy, and we had a resort shuttle waiting to take us to our room. The room was inviting. Very clean, and well kept! Our bar was stocked with water, pop and beer. The grounds were always well kept. We saw the gardeners working hard each and every day. The pool is huge. Pool bar staff friendly. Lots of activities Around pool with music playing! Pool was always clean, and plenty of pool chairs to choose from. The sports centre had a big variety of things for the kids. Basketball, fooseball, batminton, bochi, archery, tennis, soccer, and huge chess game. The beaches are beautiful. We had a fantastic week at the Melia Las Dunas and would highly recommend!

Great place

The resort was great although huge. Lots of walking that I didn't mind. Nice beaches and very friendly people. The food was excellent. The only complain I have is that security guards from neighbouring resort Melia Cayo Santa Maria were trying to push us back to our place although we were told by our travel agent ant Air Canada agent that we may use both Melias facilities. Overall excellent place.

Good resort

The resort is wonderful. Good people. Did not get impression they are nice just to get tips. Wonderful beach. Food is OK. They prepare a lot of good quality food. For example fish, but taste could be better. I would recommend bringing a good cook from the West to teach them. Also would recommend planting trees on the beach. They spray mosquitoes often but still they bite in dark. Had a nice time there.

Timing is everything

Stayed here from Nov 2 to Nov 9. Unfortunately for us it was bad timing for the beach. Apparently the beach is amazing however it was extremely windy whole we were there and piles of seaweed was washed up on shore and the water was too rough to enter. The last two days the water started to clear up but many jellyfish were present. We opted to stay by the pool which was kept quite clean. Another unfortunate timing event was the fact the adult side of the resort was closed. We had requested that s [... read more]ide, and were never informed it was closed. It was my first time to Cuba and everyone says nice beach, bad food. I would have to disagree with that. This hotel tried hard to make tasty food. I travelled with a vegetarian which made it slightly more of a challenge, however the staff made an effort to accommodate her the best they could. The staff was always happy and friendly giving us flowers daily, decorations made from garden leaves or even napkins. The hotel was 90 min from he airport which was a bit far, but something we knew ahead of time. Tips for staying here... bring bug spray, we were lucky we did! Overall was a great trip, can't wait for another vacation.

Okay resort

Grounds, beach layout of resort and rooms were 5*, but food and drinks were 3*.compaints were, adult pool closed,seafood restaurant closed,didn't appreciate insecticide spray early as 5:00am and having to run and shut our windows and it was noisy for people on holidays.They also sprayed while we were going to dinner and smoked us out.Don't feel it is healthy to breathe that in,being a very strong odour.They should in future notify people of insecticide spray times.

Fabulous experience!

This was my first time in Cuba and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms, food, beach, pool, entertainment and friendliness of the staff far exceeded my expectations. True, the beautiful weather helped as well! I loved the opportunities to play tennis, kayak, sail boating and the long walks on an amazing beach with the colors in the waters too beautiful to describe.

Exquisite Gardens! Friendly staff...

Beautiful resort - IRL looks same as photos. The grounds are very beautiful and lush. Staff was very friendly. Beach was soft sand. There was a great variety of food but it was somewhat bland on flavour.

Very Relaxing

This is my second time to this Hotel. It is very beautiful and peaceful. The staff members are always nice and friendly at all times. They will do anything they can to make your vacation stress free and relaxing

Amazing Resort

Very good resort. Already I am thinking of returning back next year. very friendly staff and daily activities well planned and organised. All the buffets are serving good food and have good choices. My slight concern is for A La carte restaurants because their menus do not have many choices. I tried all of A la Carte restaurants and now regret that I wasted my time instead we could have gone to night Buffet where food was great. but overall we (my self and family and our friends) had a great tim [... read more]e. Find a better resort

We travel extensively. This resort is very tired and is only about 8 years old. We went with three other couples. Every one of us had to move at least once, from cockroaches to roof leaking on our bed during a rainstorm. When there was a problem with our bed being soaked from the rain there is no sense of urgency or attempt to accommodate the situation. I asked to have a manger come on the phone but to no avail. It was 9:00 PM and there was no way they were going to bother him. This resort is an [... read more] embarrassment to Melia. I feel for the wonderful people that work there but I don't think they are aware of the problems since they do not live even in the standards of this resort. The resort is rated as a 5 star but wouldn't get more than a 2 from us. Yes it was cheap, $710 for a week, but it is the slow season. Half the resort and the quiet pool were closed. Beach chairs are covered in mildew. A tractor pulling a bug sprayer goes by the lobby each evening at about 5PM and fills the lobby and lobby bar area, which is the busiest time of day just before dinner, with clouds that smell like diesel fumes. The a la carte restaurants have trouble getting quality foods to serve so the meals are substandard. The best food was the fresh cooked pasta at the international buffet and the pizza at the Italian restaurant. I wouldn't consider or recommend this resort. In fact I would recommend you NOT to go to this resort.
