Amazing Vacation/Amazing Resort

My daughter and I stayed at this resort April 12, 2015 for 8 days and we had an incredible vacation. I am a paraplegic, depend on a wheelchair for mobility, and had no accessible issues whatsoever at this resort. Kudos to this resort for that!! Food was great and so many choices from the snack bar to the huge buffet to the fine dining restaurants. Main lobby has piano entertainment in evening and a huge balcony ... drinks on the balcony! ...overlooking resort to beach-amazing!! Pools and beach  [... read more]were incredibly Caribbean and beautiful. Nightly shows and dancing were fun and entertaining! Vendors had some interesting items. Spa amazing! Main pool with swim up bar has some fun entertainment going on but there are also quiet places to read or "just be". The staff was always happy, friendly, helpful and went the extra steps! Travel Rep are always in lobby morning and into afternoon for your orientation and to answer any questions. Hola - I will go back!!!!

Amazing resort!

Great hotel and staff but 3 stars for food. Best vacation spot i have been in. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a near perfect experience. It was very relaxing and fun. The service was spectacular.

Great Resort with Great Staff

The hotel is beautiful but in need of some updates/renovations. The layout of the resort was fantastic! Loved that there were quiet pools and not just the main pool. Beach was gorgeous. I can't say enough about the staff - they were all so helpful and nice. The temperature of the food at the buffets weren't great so we stay with the made-to-order food, which was always easy to find at different spots around the resort.

Pick Laguna Azul for a Great time!

If you wanna go to have fun, drink lots and enjoy the beach I would recommend this hotel. They have many activities to offer, fantastic drink menus and the beach is pristine. As a partial vegetarian, I look for a variety of salads and dishes without meat and to my surprise there was delishish salads! When it came to housekeeping, my room was kept neat and clean, and if I needed fresh towels, I got them. It also helps to bring little gifts (from the dollar store) for the house keepers to show you [... read more]r appreciation, and OMG the coffee in the lobby bar is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! My favourite coffee drink is the cortado. Anyways, a few minor hiccups like the public bathrooms were smelly,dirty and without TP and the hotel uses little plastic spoons in the coffee to stir a HOT beverage, yet all in all i enjoyed my stay at Laguna Azul!

Nice resort but housekeeping not good.

Spent 5 days at Laguna Azul, May 18-23. The resort is lovely, and the staff were amazing. Food was much better than we expected, but salt was next to impossible to find. We stayed away from the main buffet for breakfast and lunch, preferring to eat at the beachside restaurant. The selection was not as large, but the food and service was better, and the local close to the beach was perfect. Our a la carte dinners at the Cuban restaurant and the Romantic restaurant were very good. Service in all r [... read more]estaurants and the lobby area was excellent. The only downside to this resort was housekeeping. Our sheets were not changed during our stay and smelled bad! We only received a full set of fresh towels once, only to lose them the next morning and never have hand towels again. Tipping did nothing to make this better, so don't waste your money.

Unfortunately

Beautiful layout and marvelous beach. Deteriorating services and are not maintaining towels or rooms appropriately. Can be the best resort with loving care. Staff trying their best. Best balcony set up.

Fell Short in So Many Ways...

Aside from the beautiful weather, I have nothing nice to say about the resort. From the minute we checked in, I knew this wasn’t going to be good. We arrived at the resort around 1am and given our experience with the flight, we were eager to get our room, unpack, hopefully grab something to eat, and go to sleep. Our plan was unfolding nicely until we got to our room…OMG. Room: When we opened the door, we were greeted with an overwhelming stench of mold and mildew. If that wasn’t bad enoug [... read more]h it was apparent that the room was not clean. The A/C didn’t work, the telephone didn’t work, the fan above the bed didn’t work and the tv didn’t work. Nothing worked…and to top it off there were no towels (little did we know, this would continue to be an ongoing issue our entire stay). We proceeded back to the front desk to ask that we be placed in another room. They told us that there were no more rooms available. After pleading with them for nearly an hour, they finally gave us keys to a new room (without the view which we paid for), but by this point we were happy to have A/C. I did however, return to the front desk to let them know that we still wanted what we paid for; a room with a view. They told us to come back in the morning but still couldn’t guarantee they would have anything for us the next day. I returned to the front desk around 9:30am the next morning and thankfully they had a room available , things were looking better, so we thought. Our new room wasn’t much better. The same smell resonated throughout the room, there was black mold in the bathroom and along side the A/C, but at least this one worked. The bed had no support, and again when I checked the towel situation, we only had two hand towels. I immediately called the front desk and asked them to bring us more towels and they said they would send someone. About 35 minutes later, someone arrived with two more towels, hand towels not bath towels. When I asked for bigger ones, she told me there were none and that there laundry service was broken. WHAT???? This resort has 800+ rooms and no laundry service?? We quickly discovered that there was also not hot water, so no clean towels and no hot water the entire week…ugh. Food - horrible and they never restocked anything once it was gone. Anywhere we ate (aside from the Japanese a la carte) was filthy. Amenities throughout the resort were horrible and it was common for the toilets to have no toilet seats. Service - what service; they were very selective of who and when they helped which made buying wifi cards and exchanging money nearly impossible. All in all, this trip was a niightmare and we couldn't wait to be home with hot water and clean towels.

Great Resort - Clean and Relaxing

We stayed for 5 days and had a fantastic time. This was our second time in Cuba and enjoyed this resort more. Our only concern with the resort is that we did not have any towels (beach or bath) and we didn't receive them until the second day. The staff was helpful and apologized but it seemed liked many of the guests we talked to had similar issues.

Iberostar Laguna Azul

The resort was beautiful. Enjoyed the beach and all the pools . Entertainment at night was great. Availibility of drinks was good. Room was a long way from the main entrance. All in all it was a great vacation.

Very Nice Resort

Overall the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The beach is amazing and had more than enough lounge chairs for everyone. The rooms are nice but could definitely use updating but the rest of the resort was in very good condition. The pools looked very nice although we did not end up using them. The a la carte restaurants were very good but the buffet was repetitive and not the best with the exception of the food stations for the omelets, pizza and pasta.

Amazing trip!

Great week at the Laguna azul. They lay out is great everything is close no matter where u are located. Few issues with towels, the buffet wasn't very clean. But things to be expected with such a large resort. Always found something to eat, pizzas are great. The international al la carte was the best! staff for the most part were very friendly and helpful.

First time to Cuba

Ok Vacation . Not used to large resorts. May of been the reason I was not totally impressed. Food was ok . I rather have a more flavourful menu. Beach was very nice . They need to up their game with service ex: lack of clean Towels in Room and pool. I don't mind using the same towel a few time ... but they need to leave it hanging where we put it so we know which is ours . Didn't enjoy using a towel not knowing if it was my roomates used towel....

Great Resort don't be afraid to book it

The resort is very nicely set up and everything is close be. Very clean but it could do with some upgrades in the rooms and the buffet. However with this said for Cuba it's a pretty good hotel. I would recommend that that get better beach chairs because the plastic chairs are hard to sit in all day if you are a beach person. Food was ok. The rooms were clean on time every day. A couple of days they were short on towels but not a big issue as we just made do with the hand towels. Just have to remember that this is Cuba. Just go with an open mind and you will enjoy it.

Nice resort

The hotel itself was beautiful, true replication of the pictures on line. However, the washer broke and was never repaired the entire time we were there meaning that we had to use the same beach towel for the entire week. Yuk!! Food and people were fabulous.

Ok resort

Under staffed. Food was never warm when it was supposed to be. Drinks were warm. Staff were not trained and did not speak or understand english. Food was not covered or protected from flies or birds who ate from the buffet at the 24 hour bar

Great Value and Vacation

Great Resort!!! This was our first time in Cuba and we were not disappointed. The staff at the Iberostar Laguna Azul were overall very friendly and inviting. The beaches and property were also well maintained. Nightly shows were high quality and the musical talent is world class. Highly recommend the a la carte restaurants; specifically the Japanese. Would return in a heart beat!!!

Amazing service, amazing resort, fantastic people

This is my 6th time to Varadero and my boyfriends 1st. This was by far the best resort I have stayed at. The food was good, lots of variety. The people were amazing and the resort grounds were well kept beautiful and clean. Our room was all we needed - showers weren't boiling hot but considering its a hot country it was not necessary. I would definitely visit this resort again

Iberostar Laguna Azul

Our room was very nice, our maid was excellent. We never had hot water only warm the full week we were there. One thing I would like to say, We were surprised there was no one at the door of the buffet area with hand sanitizer. Also the buffet area was over crowded all the time, the food so so. Not enough staff for the amount of people. The entertainment was very good, overall the resort was very clean.

Above average,not a 5 star

Traveled with wife and 10 year old son. Beach was beautiful,lots of swimming pools everywhere on resort(well maintained). No issues getting chairs at beach or poolside. Main buffet lots of variety/ a la cartes need some work. Ate at Cuban, Italian,Tex-Mex and Gourmet. Cuban excellent lobster(small portion), Italian(bland, worst meal I had at resort, Tex-Mex (only open Fri,Sat,Sun),reservation Friday night first seating and told they were out of tortillas. Gourmet-excellent steak dinner. Staff al [... read more]l over resort very friendly, other than one bartender at swim up bar who seemed unhappy even when tipped. Servers around main pool excellent. Rooms clean,always at least warm water for shower. Had read reviews regarding how hard beds were( reviews were right). Management surprised my wife with a nice little gift during our stay as she was celebrating a special birthday while there(thanks to them).Overall we had a great time. This was our third time to Varadero and this resort would rank third behind the other two.

Iberostar daquiri not laguna azul

holiday was really great at the daiquiri and we will be going back probably in December of this year please update your records as we have not been to the laguna Azul for over a year we would however recommend the daiquiri very highly for those people who would enjoy aquietand relaxing vacation
