Weare Cadaques Bayahibe: Do yourself a favour and skip this one!

The trip started with the problems at the airport. Upon landing the stairs could not be attached to the plane which led to a delay and very crowded exit. Then we got switched from one transport bus to another, even though the first went to the same hotel. Our first room was not the upgraded garden view that I paid extra for and had a musty smell. The second room, which we didn't get until much later on the second day, was a bit better but very small. So much so that my husband banged his knee o [... read more]n the edge of the bed to the extent he can't bend it now and will have to see a doctor. I had to ask for a blow dryer four times (the one in our room had been removed). Maintenance finally installed it at 11 pm a few nights later. There is only one real restaurant at the resort. Every meal was the same execpt for Christmas Eve. Kudos for that one, which was well done. One night we ended going into to town to a local restaurant, which was very nice, however cost us over $100 USD for the food & taxi. The bar restaurant food at the resort was terrible and we had limited access to it. My sons tried to get food after 10:30 PM and after being sent from one end of the resort to the other were finaly told by the front desk manager they would need to take a taxi into town to get any food. The bar had no gin at all, and instead of telling us this, they just tried to pass off rum as whatever we were asking for, Vodka tonic became rum tonic, and when we called the staff on this, they told us "no, its just not very good vodka." They finally got us vodka but made us "sign for it" at the bar. We never paid extra for it, but it was strange to have to sign for a drink at an all-inclusive. Staff spoke limited English and were not overally pleasant, except for the pool bartender who was great, and the odd staff. My son got food poisoning on the day of our very expensive excursion. Luckily a visit to the doctor was included with the high price. The Transat rep was only mediocre, tried to help but I felt only half-heartedly. On a positive note the beach was beautiful, great for snorkeling right off the peer. The pools were nice. The weather was good, for the most part. Overall, I felt like we paid a heck of a lot and didn't get what we expected. Compared to other resorts I've stayed at in Mexico and Cuba, this was a thumbs down. Skip it.

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Loved it!

After reading some reviews about this resort, we decided to book it and see it for ourselves. This resort was awesome. Food was delicious and staff were friendly. The beach was calm and clean. Pool looked clean, but we didn't use it. We have a pool at home so we were in the ocean everyday. Overall, this place was definitely worth trying.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: The ideal family resort...

If you are looking for a relaxing family getaway, than this resort should be on your short list. Great pool, service, food and cleanliness is what you would expect and get from this 4 & 5 star resort. It is a bit of a commute from the airport (about 90 km's) so some snacks on your carryon will go a long way. The beach is what it is. It is not one of those breath taking turquoise water white sand beaches you see in advertisements. It is a good beach to be fair.

Whala Bayahibe: Just as we thought !!!!!

We had a wonderful week at this resort..our room was large and clean...with a great view of the ocean.......the pools were beautiful. We loved the salt water pools...a great change from the chlorine pools..the views from the pools were breathtaking...the food at the resort was good...there was not a huge variety but a sufficient one...everything was fresh and delicious......everyday the sail boats and speedboats went by...lots going to Saona Island for the day trip..which we went to...a very enj [... read more]oyable trip..what a beautful island..!!!!!! The hotel is not large which is what we were looking for...very personable.. management and staff went out of their way to help make your stay an enjoyable one...we also went over to the village of Bayahibe...not only to catch the boats to Saona but to visit the few restaurants there also..we were not disappointed...we love to explore....the main beach at Whala resort is a great walk away..a great stroll through the village to a beautiful swimming beach..beautiful sandy bottom and great clear waters....We would love to come back...thanks to the hotel and staff for making it a truly great holiday...

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great.

Great spot, all inclusive. No children screaming. All the staff are real friendly and helpful. Most of the staff can at least understand English and if they can't, they will get someone who can. 24h room service is great as well.

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: Amazing resort

Without doubt one of the favorite resortI stayed during my time in dominicun republic . Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager, our names were mentioned on the board . The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) and the restaurant supervisor deserves a special thanks.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Very nice resort

We had an amazing time. Very good services, nice rooms, very clean, good food and fun time at the lobby after dinner. We recommend this resort to anyone that needs to relax and enjoy sitting around the pools. We knew that the beach is nice and the ocean is not nice in this area, but this resort has very nice pools which we enjoyed sitting around and relax...especially the quiet pool with no animation. This was just perfect for the kind of trip we wanted to do this year.

Dreams La Romana: Great food and amazing resort

Very nice resort, great food - the buffet is better than the restaurants, highly advise to upgrade to the preferenced club - better beach chairs and less crowded beacg, good gym with all the basic equipment.

The staff at this resort are amazing, so friendly and helpful and truly made this a memorable vacation. The resort is stunning and the rooms are great. I plan to make this my regular vacation spot. I will be recommending Bouganville to all my friends and family.

The fifth Bahia I've been to. I really enjoy the level of conformity across the brand, you know you're going to get the same experience everywhere. Beach is a little murky so spend your time at the pool.

Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus: Outstanding service, great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay and Air Transat, they took care of us very well. Exceeded all of our expectations and more! Would strongly recommend the hotel, food and restaurants were superb! The week flew by, wished we could have stayed longer.

Whala Bayahibe: Most relazing vacation EVER!

This vacation spot is a gem! Although it is new they are working to get it in tip too shape. Although I found my room to be large and accommodating and the resort to be beautifu and inviting with a breathtaking view off the infinity pool. Can’t wait until next year to go back to visit our new friends, the staff!

We enjoyed our entire week. First time every to experience adults only resort. We enjoyed all of the restaurants we able to get reservations for. Very relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely share this location to friends and family members.

This resort, waiters are good attitude, clean, beautiful rooms, beautiful garden and foods are yummy 👍👍. Unfortunately, the water of the beach is not really clear, in addition, everything has five-star level.

The hotel ground and public areas are well kept. The pool, as well as the beach area are beautifully maintained by workers constantly cleaning the swimming pool ground; and, they are there raking the debris off the beach sand every morning. Our room is very nice, just as it is shown in the ad. No problem with the maid making their daily round of cleaning and stocking up the fridge. The buffet food quantity are ample, with good variety to please. This hotel is a real gem.

Beautiful resort. Grounds well manicured and gorgeous. Hardworkng staff, excellent bartender in Santos at pool bar. Service was wonderful. Beautiful rooms, lots In mini bar. Enjoyed room service! Wouldn't change a thing!

Catalonia Bayahibe: Went with great expectations very disappointed

On arrival at this hotel the person at reception was only interested in updating our room from a Comfort one to Privileged only to find out over the phone there was none available. As it was not check in time we were told to go and have lunch. When we returned we were told to wait.........finally I went again to the desk, was handed an envelope with the room number. It was at the end of the corridor next to the lane way where all the delivery trucks went by. We had to return to the desk for  [... read more]our Towel cards, as we were told they would be in the room. No hot water. On Tuesday we met the Sunwing rep to complain about the water, nothing done. Wednesday we complained again and were told that at PEAK hours the hot water was limited I made sure that they would understand we did not take showers during this time. and kept testing the water temperature at different times to be sure. Ice Cold. The A/C did not work well either and kept going on and off all night, everytime it went on there was a loud noise and one could not go back to sleep. However we enjoyed the meals here and the beach no complaints. Finally on Thursday they decided they would move us to the Catalonia Royal in Punta Cana. We arrived there on Friday , the bathroom sink in our Room was unable to drain so the cleaning lady called the Service man, 3 calls later he arrived and my husband was able to assist him with the problem The Sea View restaurant was close to our room and went for dinner, please do not eat the Steak there, it was so tough and hard that we could not eat it. The next day we went for lunch and tried the Hamburger, well this was just as bad as the Steak dinner, one more try at night for dinner so we had the Salmon instead, which was very good. WE decided to try the Buffet at the Catalonia Bavaro and continued to have our meals there until our vacation was over. We enjoyed all of our meals there, no problems and very polite servers. It would have been nice if the Sea View changed its menu, but it was always the same. However, on the BBQ night it was quite different and good but when I requested a glass of water, the waitress came with the plastic bottle of water and dropped it on the table.......no cup even a paper one would have been fine. I was very surprised as this was supposed to be the top of the line for your Hotels. It was difficult for anyone to understand us speaking English as we do not speak Spanish, French, German guess we picked the wrong place to visit. The grounds of both hotels were beautiful even after a hurricane and management did a fine job keeping the place clean.

Had an excellent time visiting dreams dominicus. Grounds were well kept. Friendly staff and great food. Rarely ate at the buffet. However room service and the restaurants were fantastic. Beach was gorgeous and the room was very clean! Housekeeping staff was in daily to do a full cleaning of the room. We purchased the upgraded room to the master suite swim up tropical view. I believe “courtyard view” would be a more accurate description for this rooms view. Still happy with the room but it was disappointing from what was expected or explained about the suite itself. I am not sure that I would have been as satisfied without the upgraded room as we used a courtesy room prior to departing and the features to the room were very dismal. A painful shower head in the general rooms was awful. The pressure was so strong we had to turn the water barely on and it was still painful. Would only recommend this resort, if you are seeking a suite. The bathroom in our suite had 2 rain shower heads and it was spacious and elegant. I would recommend editing the explanation of the view on this room as it is very misleading to consumers. However, I would recommend this to friends or family but warn them about the regular rooms as the upgrade is well worth the price. Included with the upgraded suite was the preferred club. I would highly recommend anyone to upgrade to the preferred club as the liquor selection is magnificent for Dominican and the private beach area is breath taking. Overall I would rate this vacation a 5/5 in relation to the resort. Although I was happy with the end result the description of the room may cause Trip Central or Dreams Dominicus some flack in the future for misleading/false advertising.

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: "You might want to check other restorts"

Hola, after been bounced twice from Cuba due to the hurricanes, we decided to try Dominican Republic, it was a quick discussion made, but went without doing are homework. The price was reasonable. Flew out Air Transat, love flying with them, Got to the resort about 45 minutes later, at 12 noon, but could not check in until 3pm (they really should change there policy regarding check in and outs). Room ok, 3rd floor, the grounds were well kept, the food was ok, better than one country I could n [... read more]ame, (not). I found that the staff are not as friendly, grounds keepers the same,the beach area, I guess due to the hurricanes had a bad odour, when eating at night a lot of bugs, not the best beaches I have been to. There was very little entertainment for all, learn to dance lessons, ball bouncing, trivia game, at night again very little, sit around one of the bars and listen to music, not they best place for families and children, there was excursions you could take, really think on that, yes went on the Sonia island tour, sorry not worth the price, waste of time. also if you happen to decide to go I would check with your Rep. the price might be different than the staff that roams the area. I know its there job and that's how they make there money too live. The resort looked good, but no I will not go back. One other thing to mention is the money exchange at the resort wow be careful, Canadian dollar they take half, check with your own banks first. I'm sorry to be negative on this resort, but for what you pay for, you should expect more. Oh last thing they lost some of are .luggage, from being put on the bus which I watched very carefully, and when we got off the bus someone has stolen it, we never found it we got the rep involved with other personal no luck, we check outside to see if it was discard in the ravine area no such luck.
