We enjoyed staying at the hotel, it was very clean and our room was wonderful. Overall the food is good and we enjoyed the different restaurants. We especially liked their sparkling water. The personnel is very accommodating and friendly. We really liked the resort.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: A Trip to Paradise
From the moment that we touched down in Granada, my daughter and I were whisked through customs and an Air Canada representative was on the spot to arrange transportation to our hotel. The Royalton Granada Resort and Spa is a treasure. Tired from travel we were quickly and efficiently installed in our accommodations. The room was spacious, blessedly cool and well stocked with supplies. The grounds were beautiful and lush. Personnel of every description made themselves available to assist us[... read more] should we require. Programs like aqua-fit, and volleyball were there for those interested. The pool and bar area was pristine and the beach area for swimming was free of any debris. The restaurants were plenty with lots of choices. It was lovely seeing guests dressed for dinner. The food was plentiful and staff were available for special requests. Everyone we encountered went out of their way to ensure we had a great holiday. Also the hotel provided a series of excursions which my daughter went on and had a good time. These were extras but well worth it. In closing we both really enjoyed our stay in Granada and are recommending it to our friends and family.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Very pleased and satisfied!
We were very impressed with the compact size of Chic which made all food and facilities close at hand. The pools and beach areas are scenic and shade is available when needed. Buffets are as good as the a-la-cartes which were also fantastic...food is the best and plentiful. We joined the Diamond Club and our butler, Billy Joel, catered to our every concern and whim..he is the best!!! Our room, Presidential Suite, was HUGE and close to the pools, beach and restaurants.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Nice resort with some cautionary on currency
Overall it was a nice resort. I'll outline the good and the negative sides:
Intro to all guests with a glass of sangria
The jr. Suite, very nice size, no need for diamond club...but i needed a additional plug attachment for my flat iron which maid gave me for the week
Grounds very well kept, very nice staff, all workers were friendly and helpful, Raul at the buffet was awesome amazing work ethic,
Beach was beautiful but 2 days were overcast and rough water waves. But 3 1/2 days were [... read more]amazing sunny 29 degree beach weather.
Buffet very good for Cuba
Had crepes, papaya, guava lots of salad and good seafood. Pasta i did not like.
No lemons, no oatmeal or fibre cereals, or fibre breads, and no heinz ketchup.
The Peso and currency issue
They try to sell you peso on the bus to hotel, which is not a deal
All i can say is buy peso small amount at a time at resort ... use it for tips at buffet, restaurants, maid and beach staff ...most important deal in your own currency Canadian. Every place like the market hotel restauants all have varied rates on peso ...no consistency with the .peso ..as the peso is worth nothing outside of cuba, so only use it for tipping.
Also butler service ...was not good ,(did not bother tipping him as he basically did nothing over and above his job
...only thing he did was book us in 2 alacarts...and gave my partner wrong advise that the restaurant outside resort would accept creditcard....and they did not
So had to pay in combo of US cdn and peso ..(was not prepared) .because if you give 100 canadian they will change you back in peso ...so bring multiple denominations of 5' 10 and 20 in canadian ...or go to establishments that accept credit cards or pay in your own currency ..canadian only (no need for US)
Also at airport coming back they dont accept peso just creditcard or cdn or US currency
Overall i would rate the whole experience 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: 6 out of 10 in our group got sick.
First of all the serving staff in all the restaurants went above and beyond. The concierge desk needs to act like a concierge desk and ensure what they promise actually happens. Those folks need to communicate with the restaurants and the front desk. It was so frustrating that they didn't seem to work as a team to esure the guests enjoy their stay.
We were a group of 10 - 5 couples. We paid extra for a specific rooms and 3 of the couples didn't get the rooms we paid for - front desk finally g[... read more]ave us cash after numerous visits asking for a refund.
We asked conceirge desk to please reserve a table for 10 at the restaurants. Out of the 5 reservations only 2 were actually booked eventhough we went several days to ensure a table of 10 was booked. The restaurant staff would do all possible to cover for the lack of communication from the concierge desk and would manage to seat us all together after waiting a little while.
Rooms were missing clothes irons/steamers, blow dryers and our room door didn't even lock from the inside. The iron and blow dryer requests were quickly resolved. The lock on our door was never repaired. The light in the shower as well as the magnifying mirrow light also did not work in many of the 5 rooms booked.
Maintenance crew painted the handrails in Bldg 6. There were no signs anywhere and we got paint on our hands & clothes. We advised the concierge. However no one ever bothered to put up any "wet paint" signs.
*ALERT* Bar by the pool/ocean does not wash their glasses. We witnessed and refused drinks several times when we saw them throwing out the reminants of other guests drink and refilling them with drinks for us. When confronted they were not pleased but complied and actually washed the glasses with soap & water. We experienced this several times during the week.
There is a little bar off to the right of the restaurants. We ordered some drinks there after supper 2 of the wives were severly ill that night.
The entertainment group tried their best to keep everyone motivated. However they should have organized the kareokee in the sports bar and had other entertainment for the majority of the guests who do not enjoy that. We were there 4 years ago and we couldn't wait to go back. So we brought 8 friends with us this time. We wished they had brought back the rock band and the artist to make up for 2 of the nites that only had dance parties. Koodos to Ramirez - "oh my Jesus" if it wasn't for him the guests would be falling asleep. He kept everyone going but in a respectful way that made you want to participate in the activities.
The sports group were better the first time we were there... one of the yoga instructors didn't look like he wanted to be there, we ould barely hear him.
4 of the group were extremely ill and some continue to be ill 2 weeks after being back even after taking antibiotics etc. My doctor advised that I was her 4th patient to come from the D.R. sick.
The resort is under renovations that are really needed. Unfortunately due to this experience we will not be returning to Chic. Apparently they have been bought out by Marriott lets hope they can bring this place back to how it was 4-5 years ago.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: ROYALTON ANTIGUA GREAT RESORT
People were so happy and friendly, the food was good at the buffet, variety of food. The Hunter Steakhouse was very good we went twice...be there at 6:00 pm and you can get a table. The beach had plenty of seats with umbrellas. The Ocean beautiful, the view from our room was very nice you could see the Ocean Liners go by. The Staff was very friendly, expect the Check in Ladies at front desk, not very friendly. I wish I could remember their names two were poor other two were very good.
All [... read more]in all a good resort. Swim up bar was good, the drinks were very good, get Sherry-ann to make them.
The chef from the Buffet came over and asked how everything was, and if we needed any special meals, to please let him know. We did not have to let him know, as the meals were very good.
Enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Nice place
There were a few bumps. Their check-in process is very slow. Our room for the first 3 nights was not what was reserved. We moved ourselves to our proper room.
The maid service was not consistent in regards to bath mat, bath towels, hand towels, facecloths. We seemed to be always missing something.
We found the food was mostly very good. The portions in the “served†restaurants were small, especially the appetizer portions. Some meals were over spiced with peppercorns, etc.
All in [... read more]all, it was a nice hotel. But it didn’t live up to a 5 star as far as we were concerned.

Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters: Outstanding Resort. Beautiful ambiance and beach.
Location was excellent, just 30 to 40 minutes away from the airport. Beach was very clean. It was cleaned off weeds ever so often. The beach has a gradual slope and shallow so safe to swim. The nightly entertainment was amazing with plenty of variety. There was an extensive spread of buffet Italian, Mexican, Caribbean, Asian stir fries etc. They could do better for vegetarians/vegans and Indian Cuisine other than beans, lentils, couscous and quinoa. The security within the facility is tigh[... read more]t so felt very safe. The staff are very helpful and quick to respond to requests. Always service with a smile. Shout out to Siesha Addo and Bianca at reception and Fernando who went over and above their call of duty to help us. Housekeeping could do better to deliver on requests. Overall it was a great experience and would love to go back in the future.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Royalton CHIC Review
This small resort was very nice. The rooms were fairly plain (no bath tub/jacuzzi), but comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive. The room cleaning staff did not speak ANY English which was challenging at times. The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful when needed. The entertainment crew were friendly but not too pushy. Yaritza took great care of us at the bar area, she was very personable and friendly and we looked forward to her excellent service every night!
One member [... read more]of our large group sustained an injury early in our stay. The medical staff were knowledgable and helpful. Alejandro provided restaurant reservations for our large group of 16 each night after this occurred. This was greatly appreciated!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: One of the worst vacation!!!
Aircanada flight delays. Had us waiting in plane while they fix their "safety" issue.
Resort was mediocre. Worse customer service ever. Everyone was just looking for tips. Could not find baby milk from 11pm to 6am, had to call room service took 1.5 hours to bring, called front desk they were useless. Half of people dont speak english. Food was nothing special, 3 out of 10. Kids got bored after the first 2 days. Will not recommend this to anyone. Embrassing that this is a Marriott brand

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Not so good
I am saddened to say that the trip I just took to the Royalton was without a doubt the worst in 32 years of traveling south, including Cuba. Despite what we all know about Cuba (so-so food, lack of certain things), we used to return to Cuba because it's a country we love, with people and history for which we have a real admiration.
Our last trip was in 2021 during Covid to Paradisius de Oro (RS). It was memorable despite the ever-strengthening embargo, and despite the shortage of foodstuffs (ev[... read more]en pepper).
At the Royalton, things were also missing, such as eggs. But that's not what had a lot of influence on the negative opinion of me and my partner. First of all, it's the obsolescence of the place, including the rooms, and the feeling that the hotel owners don't really care. For example, I took photos of places where a simple brushstroke would have hidden mold and I saw this urinal separator wall which is held in place by 2 pieces of plastic screwed together with 4 screws because it came off the wall (and we are talking here about the toilets in the main lobby, those close to the restaurants).
But above all, it was the presence of cockroaches (large and small) in and outside the rooms that I could not accept. In 32 years of traveling to the Caribbean, this is the first time I have seen this.
The fact that food was only in restaurants (no buffet) didn't help either. It's difficult to have to sit down each day to order the same food, wait for it to arrive, and realize that it's a small variation of what we were served the day before and that we didn't like that much. With a buffet, it's easier to snack a little without agonizing over the whole thing.
The existence of butlers is also in total contradiction with the crisis which is raging from my point of view. We did not feel the need to approach them other than to ask for what we are owed. Certain rooms did not have wifi for instance.
As for the staff, Alexis is a superb butler. The manager of the Royalton, Alexandro, does his best and is constantly making his rounds talking to customers. For the rest of the staff, it depends. We have found that younger people do rather rough work while older people are totally dedicated to their work.
I sincerely hope that things change in Cuba for the better!

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: not what I expected
Antigua Royalton
Fridge didn’t work
No suitcase holders or bench in our rooms
We were on separate levels and opposite sides of the resort, we were on the 7 floor and my mom was on 5 floor. The Room smelt musty n moldy especially my mom and sisters room.
After going down to the front desk 6 times for about 1/2 hour plus each time. They finally moved us to the second floor on Tuesday. There was no way my mom n sister could stay in that room any longer. Like they slept on too of towe[... read more]ls on the bed cuz the bed was so damp due to the moisture/ musty / mold
Barely any pool bar service daily
We ordered Room service and it took 2.5 hours. We ordered it at 11:15 pm cancelled it at 1230 am. Then they called our room at 105 am woke us up saying it was on its way we said no cancel it. Then at 1:20 am they banged on our door and scared the crap out of us. Obviously waking us up yet again.
No food at the pool area at all
No restaurant
No mints leaves all week so no mojitos
Only buffet for breakfast and the food is ok mostly everything is cold and seemed to be always empty dishes
Restaurants aren’t open till 6 pm
Only buffet and Italian place open for lunch and closed by 3 pm
No food after 10 pm
No food in between 1030-1230 except room service and no food between 330-6 pm
Score restaurant
Horrible
Arrived 630 pm ordered
8 pm got 3 salads with nothing but lettuce ( was suppose to be ) wine citrus house dressing , chickpeas, cucumbers , peppers, tomatoes and goat cheese. Then are food all came out missing my moms chicken fajita. I also ordered chicken fajita but it was a chicken wrap with nothing but dried chicken in it.
Was suppose to have guacamole, cheese lettuce onions ect .. no sour cream at all even though she double check that they had it before I ordered it.
Brought us big bowl of hummus
With only 9 little chips on it to split between the 4 of us as our appetizers that took over an hour n a half
No utensils no salt ketchup ect
Mold in the score restaurant all over the ceiling as well as the main dining room
I would say 80% of the waiters don’t talk at all. You order a glass of water n like they just walk away then sometimes come back with it. Servers are so extremely slow n just rude like it’s an inconvenience to serve us
At the buffet there was a bird bathing in the bowl of water that they serve water to customers from lol
Our room keys didn’t work like 5 times
They count the culinary experience as a restaurant I guess but it’s 1 table n cost $110 per person
Thursday We got all dressed up for Hunters steak house and got there and it was closed. Not open all night
Tried to go paddle boarding but Only 1 paddle board works out of 10 of them ( no fins on them.)
Buffet food is always cold
Lettuce is always brown
No Diet Coke at all on the resort and unless you find a can pop it’s flat.
Found a drink we liked at pool bar n everyday by 1130 they run out of bananas then make the drink we order wrong with no vodka n no bananas without even saying anything lol
No bars really on the resort. Like to even get a drink
Pool bar all day and main lobby bar after 830 pm
We came back to our room with puddles of water all over the floor and the paint and drywall coming off the ceiling and the wall as there was a leak 🤦â€â™€ï¸
Positive things
-They had aqua fit daily
-Beach is absolutely stunning
-Resort was dead so we had no trouble ever getting a lounge chairs
-No problem getting into a restaurant. Just limited food options.
-Entertainment at night was ok

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Awesome Resort
As first time travelers to Cuba with much advise from other frequent flyers we were more than skeptical of what to expect. Not only did this Royalton resort meet but it surpassed expectations on the all-inclusive experience being in Cuba. From the well maintained amenities to helpful staff, and great food options! Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great Trip
I am an avid all inclusive traveler and have been to 15 resorts in the past 10 years. This trip was just for two people both of us in our early 30s not looking for a party resort, but also not looking for something boring. I would say this resort provided a great balance. If you’re elderly this is a larger resort lots of walking, however it’s 99% wheelchair accessible. Rooms were clean and well maintained, property was also clean and well maintained. Beautiful grounds and the resort rakes th[... read more]e seaweed off the beach every morning. The water was not crystal clear blue water, however a hurricane just came through those waters and I know it depends on time of year you travel, I saw others say the water wasn’t crystal clear though during reviews so if that matters to you, look elsewhere. Beach was gorgeous nonetheless. I saw tons of reviews from people mentioning mosquitos, I didn’t see a single one… in fact I didn’t see any bugs at all except for one bee the whole week. However what I think the problem is, is the sand fleas (can’t really see them) on the beach, the resort could spray for these and I assume they don’t or maybe it’s just elevated this time of year.. however for a 8 day vacation if the only complaint is bug bites then I think we’re good to go. Staff was friendly overall and helpful when you needed it, Alex by the pool was tremendous very courteous and on the ball with his service. The resort could work on playing more upbeat current music, as we kind of listened to the same music everyday by the pool and it was a little dated. The games / entertainment team could spruce up their games in addition to their prizes. They handed out tshirts, I’ve seen other resorts hand out bottles of champagne or small bottles of alcohol. The food was good, however Royalton does NOT let you book dinner reservations unless you’re a diamond club member (I’ve stayed at a few Royalton now and it’s a trend. The way it’s featured or advertised is as a positive, however it’s very hard to get in the actual restaurants for dinner unless you go at 5pm or 9pm or later as the resort prioritizes the diamond club members which sucks when you’re being told it’s an all inclusive. All paying guests should have an opportunity to eat in the restaurants and if they want to reward higher paying guests then there should be a exclusive bars or restaurants for them, but all other guests shouldn’t be deprioritized. However again, I’m looking for things to mention, non of this ruined our trip in any way. We ate at the Italian, steak and teppanyaki all were good but not as amazing as I have heard Mexican food to be, I’d say 7.5/10. However they were good. We did eat at the buffet rest of the week though because it had more options and easier to get what you want. Note: there is NO AC in the restaurants, the resort relays on sea breeze… which sometimes works and sometimes there is no breeze. The club on the resort has AC, but it could have been cranked way higher lol and same recommendation on better music lol. Overall, I would recommend this resort for someone my age looking to enjoy themselves but not get out of control. There is a splash pad area for kids away from the “party†pool (which is just more like games and drinks and music pool, not party), and there is a few quieter pools as well. Clean and fun resort, great vacation.
