Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Good for R&R

I went to this resort as it's one of the few all inclusives in the Bahamas. There was a good variety of restaurants, with decent food, and the beach was GORGEOUS. My 2yr old loved the kiddie pool. It's a solid 4-star!

Paradisus Cancun: Great Time at Paradisus Cancun

Beautiful, clean resort. Quite close to airport, so shuttle ride was not long. Great beach, you can walk for miles in either diection. Pools were spacious, one was heated which was nice. Food was very good, lots of choice. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Room was very nice. Balcony was a good size & very private, with nice view.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Poor Service

The resort was overall gorgeous! As you except from a resort down south. There were several problems with service; we were put in an I cleaned room with none of the amenities we were supposed to receive & it took several hours to get it sorted out, with no upgrade offered to resolve issues, the restaurant staff were quite incompetent, the staff throughout the resort had no idea where things where when asked. The resort was HUGE. It seemed the be about a 20 minute walk from the lobby to the beach [... read more] and depending where you room was, was that long as well. For any older people who have trouble walking it would be quite difficult for them to get around. (They do have golf carts, but you have to catch one). Sellers on the beach are expected but there were TONS, they were quite aggressive & they came up onto the resort. The food was mediocre was expecting much more from a 5 star resort. After that/overall a lovely trip because your really just going for the sun and the beach.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Beautiful Resort!

We had a wonderful time. We are easy simple travellers. All our meals were buffet and wonderful. Our room was on the ground floor and suited us fine. We easily overlook things like a doorpost that’s ajar or a hole in the wall. We did get the feeling that the resort was under going a lot of renovations. We also noted that lobby furniture was all new and many elements in our room as well such as deck chairs and lamp. The pool was massive as was the beach. Please note we stayed on the adult only side in a deluxe room which is close to restaurants and evening action. Golf cart to get to the pool and beach daily - but we don’t care. No need for us to be in our room in daytime anyhow - the weather is far to fabulous! Stayed January 10-17. We will be back to Punta Cana next year!

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: okay resort

This resort had very nice grounds from the wild life, too the pool, too the front lobby. However the rooms are not what they claim. We were too have a emerald suite upgrade our room was pretty basic. We waited 5 hours to check in only to have my daughters room not even cleaned. When trying to get the room cleaned we were given the run around and took close to an hour and half to get it cleaned for a room that should have been cleaned to begin with. Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Very big Resort

Wonderful grounds, containing wildlife (Peacocks, Flamingos, Woodpeckers, as an example), ponds, and Palm trees. The Room was adequate, we were supposed to get an Emerald suite upgrade, but I do not think we got that as our room seemed pretty basic. Food was good at the restaurants, not fantastic. The morning breakfast buffet was not the best as the supposed to be hot stuff was Luke-warm at best, to cold. The front desk staff, did not really know their resort. As an example we ask for the business center, and were told they did not have one. It is down at the morning buffet area and open. We also asked were the Adult only buffet was and again told they did not have one. It is the new Level area, and it is wonderful, but only open for dinner. The beach area is littered with vendors selling everything from tours, jewelry, to drugs, and they hound you. We stayed away from the beach because of this, stayed at the pool. Overall the resort was adequate, but I would not return.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Great Resort

I'll break this down by item: The Room - we had a Master Suite Swim Out Suite (I think) and it was great. The room was massive and provided all we needed. The pool it swam out to got no sun, however, and was quite cold, limiting the time we actually spent on the balcony and in that pool. So a neat novelty, but rather useless for my fam. Be sure to understand where your swim up is located (which direction it faces) but all those pools are the same temp. Also, we wanted to upgrade to the Family [... read more] Concierge from this room type and it was going to be $120 US / day. We decided the heated FC pool and the balloon animals not worth $700+ US. The Pools - the pools were ok. Just like the swim up pool, the other pool was rather 'refreshing' and takes some time to get used to. That being said our kids only complained a couple times and did spend a lot of time in it when the sun was out. If you're really sensitive, you would like the heated FC pool, but it's constantly packed and is almost too warm. The Food - we dined in the standard buffet a lot and it was good. Lots to choose from and the staff try to help as much as they can. 8/10 for sure. And other reviews are correct, you must book reservations in the other restaurants and unfortunately our timing didn't allow us to sample much of the other offerings and if you want to eat with your kids, that cuts your options in half as some are on the adult side. The Beach - the beach was great. The FC section/side didn't look that much different, just a few bungalows that were always reserved and a few round beds that I never saw anyone in. Dont upgrade for this purpose alone, they both walk out to the same strip of water. And on the water, it was the ocean and yes, there was some seaweed in it, heavy at times and light at others, but overall the beach was good: only a few vendors who were chill and you can book all the water activities you needed right there if inclined. Entertainment - there was always a few things per day to enjoy. We traveled with kids so they loved the magician, the coco show and all the little things they did in and around the pools each day. One never expects world-class entertainment at these things but the staff tried hard, looked like they were having a good time and made sure the adults and kids did too. Mine looked forward to this part of the day eagerly. Overall, a great resort for the price but the January weather, swim up location and overall pool temperature will likely ensure this will be our only visit here.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Paradise at its best

The first impression of the Melia Caribe was amazing. It’s massive, beautiful and very well kept. The beach and water were amazing. The food, drinks and staff we amazing as well. We had an unbelievable vacation.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Exceeded our expectations!

We’ve travelled to Mexico pretty extensively (more than 10 visits) to both Cancun and the Riviera and this one is a pleaser. The food was impressive, even the buffets offered tasty selections that didn’t disappoint. We booked the “family side” as it met our budget goals and as two adults travelling we could still access the adult only side. If you are going without kids I’d definitely recommend the La Perla side. The rooms were spacious and lovely. General use pools not heated, that’s a shame!

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Not what we expected

We arrived at the resort on January 14th and went to the reception area. The person for checking us in was very pushy. She tried to get us to upgrade our room at $1,000 US for ten days. We said no thank you she the lowered the price to $400.00 and then $300.00 we kept saying no we had paid enough already and she said well you are a bit of away to the beach. We replied we didn’t care. This really left a bad taste in my mouth and I really didn’t even want to stay there. We then waited for thr [... read more]ee hours for a room when we were the only two that stayed at this resort from our plane. The next day meeting up with the rep from Air Transat she too was upset when we told her we weren’t interested in any trips off resort. This was our 8th trip to the DR. We made the best of it all. The resort is very large and they do supply golf carts and trains to get around. The restaurants we found the best was the American Grill, the Italian and the evening buffet on the Adult side of the resort. Our room was good the only complaint about it was the mini bar they only left two mini beers in fridge and it was American beer to boot. The weather was great sorry to say but we will not return to this resort for the reasons above.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort

The first thing that stands out are the beautiful grounds at the resort. Very well maintained, flamingos, ducks and peacocks roaming freely around its many ponds. The rooms tend to be a little too spread out though especially when travelling with a large group. We were everywhere and not really situated together. The food was ok, wasn't the best food at an all inclusive that I've visited, but I didn't starve either. Everyone was friendly and happy and that rubbed off on me. Bravo for a great, trained, fun staff.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Exceeded expectations!

Quite simply, Melia Caribe exceeded our expectations. A group of us traveled to Melia for a wedding, and weren't disappointed. From the moment we arrived to the day we left, we were greeted by smiling, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The grounds on the resort we're beautifully manicured, exotic and colourful. Wit [... read more]h plenty of nightly shows, beach activities, water sports, a gigantic main pool, a sports bar and a casino --- we were anything but bored. All of these facilities were clean, bright and spacious. Food! So much variety here. Our resort level was basic, meaning that we had access to about 80% of the resort itself, and this includes most of its a la carte restaurants. No matter your preference, you won't go hungry. Our group enjoyed Dominican cuisine, Italian cuisine, Asian cuisine, Mexican cuisine, American cuisine, French cuisine and Mediterranean cuisine --- just to name a few. Honorable mention goes to the two outstanding buffets - Merkado and Rhumba. Again, plenty of choice here. We really didn't have a bad meal. Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic Drinks are everywhere, too. With plenty of Bars in the front lobby area, near or inside the restaurants or by the beach, you're never far from a cold drink. Our resort room is perhaps the only area that we felt could have used some improvement. While the room itself was clean and comfortable, there was a leak underneath the bathroom sink that forced us to put a towel down each day so we didn't slip on the water. We assumed that the staff had fixed this leak, as it was cleaned up when the first turn down service was provided. However, the leak came back when the water was turned on again, and continued throughout our stay. This was disappointing. One great (and unique) service offered by the resort is the golf cart 'taxi' service. Staff members simply drive around the resort property in golf carts, and guests are encouraged to jump in and go for a ride. The driver will take you anywhere you'd like to go. This came in very handy for those of us who had rooms up front near the lobby, but wanted to spend each day the beach and pool area. We would 'hail a taxi', enjoy our ride and provide a humble tip to the driver. This service really allows you to relax and enjoy the day. Add a long, clean, white sandy beach, a blue sky and a hot sun, and you've got the recipe for a terrific and memorable stay. We would definitely go back!

Staff very friendly very clean love the le carts and how easy it was to acess. Amaxing place.the only problems that we had the fridge only had beer the first day and last. It was nevet full. Bar was always full with people smiling. Great hotel just too big for my liking

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Awesome resort!

First of all, this place was HUGE!! But thankfully there are many carts and lifts traveling around all day, evening and even at night to help get you around. The beach was beautiful white sand and the ocean was so nice to swim in. Awesome, huge pool to share with swim up bar and plenty of space to find a beach chair. It was January so maybe not as busy but it’s a big resort. We were here for a friends wedding and the ceremony and reception were amazing. The staff are all friendly and accommodating so you never really have any issues.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Fantastic family holiday

Traveled in mid-January 2019, and was pleasantly surprised - rarely does a resort look nicer in person than in photos! Staff was beyond lovely, accommodating and friendly. Will absolutely return! Amazing little inlet down the beach, shallow calm waters for the kiddies to play in.

Paradisus Cancun: Amazing beach paradise

I stayed at Paradisus with my girlfriend and we had a great time! The service is spectacular, every single person on the resort is so welcoming and attentive. They are so eager to help you and really enjoyed getting to us. This made our stay extra special: I have been on a lot of beach vacations and I have say that I was very impressed by not only the landscape (which is amazing!!), ambiance but the food! Loved the market grill the most especially the lamb and steak skewers, so yummy in my tummy. Everything about this place was perfection. It’s not a very party or kid oriented resort so if that’s what you’re looking for I wouldn’t suggest it. There’s other ones that cater to that. Paradisus Punta Cana: BEAUTIFUL RESORT!

My husband and I went for 1 week for our honeymoon. We would go back to this resort in a heartbeat! It was so beautiful, clean, well-maintained and tranquil. You can relax the whole time or party if you want to! There are lots of restaurants to choose from and the buffets had a nice variety of things to eat everyday. We especially liked the fact that you could order a whole pizza to your room via room service for no extra charge. The only thing that I feel they could improve upon is the  [... read more]cleaning services. The staff didn't come around until later in the day to clean rooms and we found this a little inconvenient. Especially when you have an early dinner reservation and you get a knock at the door after 5 pm asking if you want your room cleaned. However, that being said, all of the resort staff are quick to rectify any problems you may experience. My husband and I discovered that first hand.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: FOOD POISONING-VIOLENTLY ILL-HOTEL COULD CARE LESS

We have just arrived home after a horrible stay at Paradisus La Perla. On Wed night we ate at a restaurant Bana Fusion, in which two hours later we were both violently ill until 4 am the next day. Luckily we met a nurse from Ontario and called her room and she came straight away with medication and ran out and bought us Gatorade. We alerted the hotel front desk and customer service but never heard from them. We were feeling better 46 hrs late and then ate at a restaurant The Grill and once a [... read more]gain was up all night ill. From there on in all we ate was a banana, dry toast and water. When we checked out the hotel did not inquire into our stay, they just passed up a piece of paper with a sad face or happy face on it and asked for our room and name. We were totally appalled at their lack of professionalism. This is hotel is marketing itself as a high end resort and part of a hotel chain which prides itself on customer service. Website posting CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS OUR CUSTOMERS “Offer our guests the best personalised accommodation experience, exceeding their expectations with the excellence of our best service.” I do not call this excellent and we will never return.

Melia Nassau Beach Resort: Amazing food quality, great beach, and surprising extras!

It was a 15 min shuttle ride to the hotel from the airport. We took Sunwing and had no issues. Check in was straight forward. Note, they will take, $200 deposit on a credit card and I think they made copies of our passports (took them to the back and then came back). Our room was ready at 11am (bonus). All rooms face the ocean we were on the 5th floor and our king bed room was great. The toiletries were a decent size and replenished daily, the mini bar and water were included and restocked daily [... read more] (Heineken and they even put some chip snacks), coffee maker, better than average hair dryer too. Room was always cleaned and was clean, modern, and kept up. To go in the elevator to your room you have to scan your card. Pillows were too soft for my liking, but my son loved them. WiFi was FREE in the room, all over the property, at the beach, at the gym etc. What a great bonus! The lobby area smelled fresh every morning (bleach clean), the property isn't as big as other resorts in the caribbean, but I guess it's because Bahamas is smaller? Not complaining. There was an adult pool, kids pool, two hot tubs near the beach. Lots of chairs and shaded areas. No one bothering you to pay to move your chairs. Water activities included are stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling. All equipment was in good condition. Their beach water area was roped off which I quite liked. The beach was white sand, minimal seaweed, water was a little cold, but fine after entering. The food was amazing! Ok, they have the main buffet area on the first/ground floor and was not bad for breakfast. The usual stuff, good quality fruit, smoothies made on the spot, yogurts etc. The Beach Grill was great for lunch. They take your order so no risk of buffet stuff sitting out too long. I tried the ceviche and mahi mahi fish - amazing! Third best ceviche I've ever had (first is mine of course, second in Galapagos, Ecuador). They have 5 a la carte restaurants. You were allowed to book one for each night you were there (unlike some resorts that limit you to 2 per week in other parts of the caribbean|). We did the steakhouse (the only one that was extra), my son had the steak and said it was great, I had the fish - a bit overcooked and the mac and cheese was tasteless. The italian place was amazing. I had the fettucini and my son had the margherita pizza and it was really delicious. The mexican place was better than I expected. Again, another great ceviche (different from the grill place) and I had the fish. It was much better cooked. They gave us some guag and chips an my son had quesadillas and they were great as well. On the last day we tried the lobby resto EstaVida that serves tapas. It was alright, great ambiance on the nights. The drinks were great. They had premium brands to choose from. The pool bar even had PAPER straws. With all the plastic straw issues, I thought that was an amazing statement to make to your clients. They had ping pong, basketball, and some pool side quizes. In the lobby area next to the Starbucks (yes they have a starbucks - I think it's extra charges) they have a huge connect four, jenga, and board games. The gym was the best to date from all the places I have been to in the caribbean. Modern equipment, good size, many machines. Eliptical trainers, tred mills, arm and leg machines, all weight sizes, TVs, towels, fruit water, yoga mats, etc. It's on the far SE area of the hotel (on first floor - which is kind of their basement area). It's in a secluded area, but there is a phone and a rep came in to check about each hour. There are shops in the lobby area too. Overall, I would recommend this to friends and family and will be back. My picky son liked it the best out of all the times we have done AI too - probably for the wifi. The condition of the hotel is american standards. It doesn't resemble the usual run down hotels we have all experienced no doubt. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. All the staff were friendly and helpful. A true 4 star property.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Great experience!

This resort exceeded our expectations. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Royal Service option is a must! The private pool in the Royal Service location is beautiful. Never any problems finding lounge chairs around the pool or the beach. Shout out to Alfredo, Hector and Cristina at the Royal Service pool bar and Elias & Daniel at the pool concierge.
