Starfish Cayo Guillermo: It's still Cojimar no matter what it's called

This was our 11th trip to this hotel, although it had been 3 years since our last visit. Hotel has been repainted, and improvements made. Nice to see repeat guests and a number of the same staff. We will return again next year - it's our home away from home..

Melia Jardines del Rey: it's and ok resort

It's way to far to walk to everything for older people. the beach is too far away as is everything really.. for a newer resort it's amenities were very poor ... went 1 full day with out the use of a toilet and had to carry water from the pool with out help of staff to be able to flush the toilet... there were zero face cloths and very little toilet paper .... literately had to beg for toilet paper and face cloths. Food was ok at times... although it was very slow and poor service... it got to th [... read more]e point that we just served ourselves, it was quicker.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Resort

Had a wonderful vacation! Room was nice, clean. We stayed in bungalow 25,close to lobby, restaurants, pool and bars. The staff were amazing, so kind and polite .The pools area beautiful, lots of room. The main lobby, lots of places to sit and relax. We will be back!

Hotel Mojito: The Iberostar Mojito was truly fantastic!

The grounds were beautiful and maintained daily. There were many pools to choose from, including a children's pool with activities. The staff treated the kids as if they were their own, so the parents could have some adult time. All staff was very friendly and obliging, and always smiling. The buffet was extensive and delicious, and the a la carte restaurants were intimate and refined. The beach was to die for...the whitest sand and turquoise water. The weather was perfect for every day of our 10 day stay...sunny, 80 degrees, no humidity and a gentle breeze. We took a couple of excursions, which will be life long memories. A trip into the town of Moron, and swimming with the dolphins. Highly recommend. Lastly, our TripCentral contact (Cindy Calaghan) was amazing, and went above and beyond the call of duty. Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice Resort, Good Food

We just returned from a week at Melia Jardines del Rey (April 2016). The Good - The infrastructure is exceptional by Cuban standards. New buildings, tennis courts, volleyball courts, huge reception area, pools are beautiful, shaded huts on the beach as far as the eye can see. - Food was really good. Lots of selection at the buffets. Fresh cooked meat, fish, pizza or anything you like. 2 out of 3 a la cartes were great. Didn't like Bistro, but Don Perroni and Aqua were great. - Coffee at lobby b [... read more]ar or any snack restaurant (espresso, cappuccino, etc.) - Very clean - Ice cream shop (although it closes really early so make sure you are there before 4:30pm) Not so Good - Golf cart type work vehicles on the walking paths constantly force you to seek cover beside path. This becomes very irritating after a while - Excessive smoking in lobby area a major problem for non-smokers (no where to go) - Wifi (2 CUC per hour) is extremely unreliable - New resort so newly planted trees are still very small. Not lush grounds compared to other resorts. - Water is beautiful albeit quite rocky. You need to walk down to find a sandy area you can swim. Overall, a very good resort. Would definitely recommend.

Sol Cayo Coco: Beautiful beaches

Great food and friendly staff. Overall resort was clean. Great place if you're looking for a quiet place to getaway and relax. Rooms were clean. Front desk was always helpful. Would definitely return to this resort.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Disappointing

This was our second year at this resort and in year 2 we were disappointed by a few things: 1 - they never opened the spot to exchange your towel. The hours were posted, but it did not open the entire week! We had wet soggy towels all week 2 - Our maid was rude to us from day 1...which is completely different from the service we had last year 3 - Our balcony door wouldn't lock. They "fixed" it but it continued to not lock 4 - no changes to the food. I dont mind tipping but it was chronic...tip everyone every day or get bad service. 6 - The bed was very hard and uncomfortable

Hotel Playa Coco: Disappointed

Resort and rooms even though renovated and under renovations is still run down. The majority of staff are unhappy anout something and are not outgoing or friendly. Not my job mentality. Food is poor even for Cuba standards, or non existant. Even fresh prep stations run out of chicken and fish and ham daily. Beer gardens 24 hr service ran out of beer. In reno area rooms still leaked during rain and no water no flush for toilet Air not cooling. will never return to this resort or cayo coco

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: mixed feelings

The Good.The grounds are beautiful, improvement at the beach with the grinding down of coral rock was effective. Water shoes would be helpful but coral rock is only 15 feet with some areas clear to walk in. After coral, the water is crystal clear, shallow, and sandy. Free paddleboats and sailing boats available. Bar and lunch also available at the beach was good. The pool water is crystal clear. The upper pool is built on a hill affording the wind to give it a nice breeze in the afternoon. The l [... read more]ower pool is 12 feet lower with less breeze.The foam party at 4:00pm in the lower pool on Thursday is great and most of the children there loved it. The lobby bar service was great and the Spanish coffee was over the top. All of the staff thoughout the complex were attentive to all tourists needs. The not so good. The cons were dated rooms with very hard beds. We used the blankets under the bed sheets to soften the bed. Air conditioning in the room was good. There was an issue with beach towels and we only received clean ones on our first day. The exchange towel place was always closed througout the week. The lounge chairs around the pool were confortable but were filty dirty with old sunscreen lotion in the screening material and they should be power washed on a regular basis bringing it up to the next level of quality.The food handling was an issue with several people sick. Although we liked the food I noticed the Staff relaoding emtpy or part emply trays with new food. i feel that the old trays should be removed and not reloaded. The ice cream was always melted to some degree in the coolers. and the layout of the food area is not free flowing and poorly organized for tourists and staff refilling food.

Sol Cayo Coco: Loved it!

This was my first time in Cuba and it definitely won't be my last! I absolutely loved this resort and I will be revisiting very soon. The rooms were okay- not the best, the water pressure was really low- but honestly, who stays in their room anyways? I love the small town feel to this resort- everything was just walking distance away which was awesome. The Beaches were Superb! Best beaches I have seen- and you must take a trip to Pilar. Hotel Mojito: Very enjoyable resort!

We recently stayed at the Iberostar Mojito. It was a pleasant experience. The service was excellent and staff very friendly. The food was fresh and always lots to choose from. The fresh omelette in the morning was welcome. The beach was great and available choice of snacks and drinks. Evening entertainment was enjoyable. Accommodations were quite satisfactory. Great for families or couples. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I already miss being there.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Making "memories" at Memories

We travelled here from March 31, 2016 - April 7, 2016 as a group of 6. Where to start: - check in : Received our room information/package at the airport, which was wonderful. Upon arrival at the hotel (after only a 15 min bus ride), we were told our rooms were ready for us. Considering it was only 11am, that was awesome. I had emailed the hotel ahead of our vacation to request a few things.. all of my requests were met. I was already impressed. Our room was clean, stocked with towels, beach towels, beer, pop and water. A/C worked wonderful. We had fresh towels daily, cute towel art each day, restocked fridge and a clean room. - food : where to begin here... I've been to Cuba 11 times before this trip. I have had mediocre food, and I've had great food (for Cuba standards). This resort had a great selection of fresh grilled fish, shrimp, chicken, beef, pork etc. The buffet had plenty of vegetable items, rice, meats etc. I have zero complaints of food. for those who complain, I'm really not sure why. The a la carte restaurants were great as well. Favourite being the Cuban. The fried fish was amazing! - Entertainment - The staff at this resort go above and beyond to include all ages in activities. The shows are wonderful. Loved the "retro night" and Michael Jackson show. The foam party in the lower pool was so much fun! -Staff - We were impressed with the staff at this resort. They all seem to enjoy their jobs, and work hard to please all of us throughout the day. Always greeting us with a smile : ) - Management - I was extremely impressed with the fact that management was consistently visible on the resort. From checking on restaurants, cleaning up napkins that blew off tables, greeting you in the morning, to getting on our bus as we were leaving to check on our time at Memories. It was a great thing to see. - Pools - the pools were great. A little hard to get shade if you didn't get your towels on a chair early in the morning, but we managed. - Ocean - yes there is coral, however, it is not all over the beach. It is not a problem at all. We did not need, nor bring water shoes. Water was beautiful. Staff are quick to get you beach chairs upon your arrival at the beach. - Bars - Loved having chocolate martinis at the martini bar, banana mamas at the lobby bar, pina coladas at the snack bar, cappuccinos and spanish coffees at the lobby bar. I do recommend that the resort keep and eye on temperatures on the buffets however, a couple times it seemed like the warmers may not have been on. Because I mostly eat freshly grilled items, I didn't have a problem. I wasn't a fan of the pillows here however. I am a bit picky when it comes to my pillows. I will just pack my own next time.(easy fix) This resort exceeded my expectations. I would and will return to this resort. We had a fabulous time, and look forward to a future trip here. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Good, clean resort,excellent staff

We where in block 1, very close to everything. Our room was clean and spacious. Our only real problem was trying to secure a lounger either on the beach or pool. We needed to set our alarm every morning for 6 am (thought we where on vacation from the alarm) to secure a spot. All spots where gone by 7 am. Towels on chairs for the whole day but nobody ever came to use them. A better system needs to be put in place. It was ridiculous.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Unwinding never felt better

We (wife and I) stayed at Memories Flameco from March 21 to March 31. I would recommend more than a week to anyone. We loved the grounds with beautiful flowers and humming birds everywhere. We asked for kingsize bed, 3rd floor and got it exactly. Our maid Yarvenvie (sorry if I spelt your name wrong) was amazing and took special care of us! Daytime bartender always was a pleasure knowing exactly we wanted 2 coffees every morning and yes worth the walk to get...delicious! The beach is beautiful wi [... read more]th warm white sand and water. We definitely loved the breeze sitting in chairs in the shade. We stayed in pod 5 and short walk to the beach every morning. Always found a chair in the shade. We loved the wait staff coming up and asking us if we required a beverage. The evening shows at the theatre are no less than spectacular and well done! The buffet has a wide range of foods for even the picky eater and remember go early when it opens to get the best choices. We sat in the same place during our stay and its nice when you have a wonderful server Desmilie who know exactly what beverage to serve you without even asking, they cater and it feels good to matter! A la carte restaurants are booked for you (they have 3) but we thought same sides and desserts as the buffet but definitely a more intimate atmosphere which was lovely! The snack bar open 24 hours has the best fried chicken and was definitely again nice to see same server knowing exactly what we wanted. The weather was overcast the first 3 days and that was just fine as the sun is hot and pleaes remember to bring and use lots of sunscreen. We seen a fair amount of badly burnt people. There is something for everyone young and old! We have two recommendations, more bottled water required at the resort. It is nice to have one a day in your room and we have no issues buying more at the store located just off the main lobby but the supply was diminished on more than one occasion. The second one is the bank located on the premises. We needed dominations of $1.00 CUC (convertible pesos) to tip your fine staff and found we could not get change on more than one occasion (probably 4 times) and when we did get change we could only get a limited amount. I would ask for 10 ones and could only get like maybe 7 ones and 3 dollar CUC on a good day and the next day no change. Please get more one CUC's available to your guests so we can tip your staff for the wonderful service they provide. We are already planning our return to your resort, keep up the amazing work!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Good Resort

Once we arrived at the resort at approximately 1145 to 1200 AM on Friday April 1st, arriving late at resort not a problem with airline a couple passengers had trouble clearing customs. We were assigned to our room. The balcony door would not close and lock properly and there was a terrible mouldy smell in the room. we made our was back to the lobby area taking approximately 15 minutes in total darkness and not really knowing where we were going. Once at the lobby and explaining everything we wer [... read more]e assigned to another room in another bungalow, on the second floor which is not what we requested, we requested a main floor room; I cannot do stairs because of my bad knees. I asked to have someone assist us with our luggage and was told that there was no one available, so we made our way back to the first bungalow to retrieve our luggage 2 bags each and made our way again in total darkness and not knowing where we were really going, getting lost, finally finding the new bungalow and getting settled in at approximately 0145 AM. On Saturday April 2 we were assigned a new room at approximately 1 PM on the main floor. This room was our final room for our vacation, two rooms later. A total of three rooms, after getting settled into the room the rest of the vacation was OK. approximately first 24 hours of vacation not overly impressive. food was good, service generally OK, resort staff friendly, pool area good.

The grounds is picture perfect. Washrooms clean Smells good, the rooms very comfortable.the food at the alacarte needs some improvement. The food at the buffet always good with a great variety of foods

Melia Cayo Coco: Wonderful vacation!!!

This hotel is just lovely. This was our second time to the Melia Cayo Coco and we enjoyed ourselves just as much the second time. The service is excellent, the food is very high quality with international standards, the staff extra helpful and friendly and the grounds are kept beautifully. The beach is superb with warm and calm Caribbean waters and well maintained sand. The pool area is wonderful too and everything is clean. There is great entertainment at night. If you want a change from the di [... read more]ning room for dining (although it has everything you might want to eat) you can choose to dine at one of the three a la carte restaurants which are just lovely and the food is included in your accommodation. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Average resort with amazing service

Service: The customer service staff at the counter is terrible but everyone else from the restaurant to the bars is AMAZING. Food: there was always something really good every night. Breakfast was repeated but there aren't too many breakfast options really. Didn't go to any ala cartes as we had 4 kids with us. Rooms: basic, don't think my sheets got changed, and only had 2 pillows for three beds and 1 towel for three ppl, Pool: COLD!!! hahaha..but nice. don't have to play the save the chair game [... read more] as they take them all away at night and you just ask the guy to bring uyou how many you need to the spot you want. Beach: When you arrive at the beach go right when facing the water, much nicer, The sand of course is snow white and water is crystal blue. Resort: no shops or anything to do but chill, some small games at the pool side but not really any entertainment.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Nice Resort

The resort was nice, but it lacked a few things. The hotel room was clean, but the bed was horrible. It was sucken in and the pillows were flat and hard. The extra blanket provided was probably not washed. It smelled a bit off. The food was satisfactory. In general food in Cuba is not the greatest. I have found that with all resorts I have been to. Just bring your own salt, pepper and ketchup. You'll be fine. I would also avoid any meat, water and ice cubes. The same meat seems to be used for l [... read more]unch and dinner. I ate only vegetables, fruit and rice. I was fine, but my boyfriend got pretty sick. He was eating meat. The beach was beautiful. The only challenge was getting past the rocks to get into the water. Bring water shoes. Regardless, I still really enjoyed the beach. The pools were great. The staff as always are really nice. I would go back, but I would bring the few extras I mentioned above.
