Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Average resort

the resort is set in a jungle which was intriguing with lots of animals like monkeys, deer, iguana, coatis, agoutis etc. Pools were nice and well kept with lots of chairs. Staff were friendly and tried to be helpful . The front desk seemed uninformed about a number if issues. The buildings were nice. Our room on the third floor was large and well kept but the balcony which uncovered looking directly into trees was dirty with animal droppings from birds and monkeys ; a room on the 1st or second  [... read more]floor with a balcony covering would have been much better. The food was poor both in the buffets and specialty restaurants which was disappointing; while we were there they started a reservation required system which frustrating in that you could only book one day at a time ,and only from 7 to 11 am and required you to go to the front desk each morning. the beach was very small but there was a Beach Club which had a breakfast and lunch buffet which was a very nice setting with a very good staff.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Not as expected!

My husband and I stayed at the Sandos Caracol in October 2019 in the Adult Only Select Club. Last week, (Oct 22) was our first trip since then and since we had so enjoyed it then, we thought we would return. We were given the wrong room type then told they didn't have any rooms available that we booked until the next day. We were told to have all our luggage packed and be out of the room so they could move us the next day between 12-2. We didn't get the room until 4:30pm. There are no longer Adu [... read more]lt Only dinner restaurants which was a perk last time. We didn't go to eat with misbehaving children. The lack of staff at the Select Club Beach bar and pool was apparent-we had to get our own drinks. Restaurants were good, masks required at the buffet. Depending upon the hostess, depended if you required a mask in other restaurants. There was no travel rep on-site who we booked thru. The resort was not helpful in assisting us on pick up times. Rooms were clean but dated in the Adults Only section. Great shower, hot water & pressure at anytime. Pools were great!

Allegro Playacar: Horrible Resort 0 star

No hot water 3.5 days told me to go to buffet and get hot water for my 1 year old daughter to have a shower horrible room at first (3 flights of stairs to carry my baby and stroller up multiple times per day) then got switched to another room the next day spend almost two full days dealing with that at the lobby and the bed was dirty so the maid had to change the bedding Ants in room Pool was filthy film/dirt/hair floating Same food everyday They wanted to charge us $45 for cl [... read more]eaning sheets because I needed it changed at night due to a small accident (pee) on sheet from my 1 year old. We moved in with dirty sheets and didn’t change our sheets for the whole week. So they said because we had no hot water for 3.5 DAYS they would “let it go” No lights walking back to lobby when leaving. It had rained, ground was VERY slippery and it was pitch black out 5:30am we had to leave and not one single light on. Luggage weigher is only pasos when I offered $1 usd he said no only pasos for pasos so couldn’t weigh our luggage before leaving. Point blank they have ZERO customer service and do not have a family/Canadian/us friendly hotel. We will never return or recommend anyone to go here EVER.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Truly a star resort!

This resort was so clean! The room was very well stocked, no request was to small The staff were friendly, polite and remembered us from one day to the next as we walked by. The food, oh so amazing. I was very pleased to see so many vegetarian options. The pools were clean and 2 were reserved for adults only. The beach area was also kept clean and you could walk for quite a way in the beautiful sand. The activities that were organized where a lot of fun and engaged everyone. The only Co [... read more]vid related restrictions that I was aware of, was that the disco was closed, but also renovations going on at the next hotel. The view each morning of the sunrise from our balcony was magic. And we could see the Arc from everywhere. Only complaint is that the 'kids entertainment' was in the same location as the adults show. So this meant waiting until much later to have the show start if you didn't bring kids along. I think the 'kids' show should be relocated saving the huge stage and bar aea for the adults. The room service menu really needs some additions to it. Just my opinion. Overall 5 stars, well worth the trip. We will be going back.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort during the week, not on the weekend!!

Great resort if you have lower expectations. We arrived on a Friday and noticed that the resort was extremely busy. From what it seems the resort offers a great package for cheap to local people for 4 days. So from Thursday to Sunday it was unbelievably busy. You could not get any food from the buffet which was mediocre at best. Lines were extremely long. Not what we had expected for such a big resort. Also, getting your mini bar restocked was like asking for gold. You got two 1L bottles of wat [... read more]er per room for 4 people “per day”. If you called concierge for more you were lucky if they showed up. All the Al la carte restaurants were amazing. We went to Teppanyaki, Italian and Mexican at Tulum which was amazing. The beach was amazing - a bit rocky - water shoes is a must but gorgeous beaches and during the week plenty of room to sit and same as the pool. During the week Monday - Wednesday was great Thursday-Sunday not so much. Overall we had a great time.

Moon Palace Cancun: Awesome Stay!

The food at the Al a carte restaurants was amazing. We ate at the buffet once and was ok. The Starbuck-like coffee bar with unlimited gelato, truffles, chocolates, cake, fresh sandwiches, crepes was a favorite for my spouse and son. The resort is huge but we didn't mind walking. There are a lot of trolleys. Rooms were quite clean and no musty smell. Internet was solid throughout the resort. Pool and bars were great. Pools are beautifully designed. Only turn off was the number of times the promotional people kept calling our room after requesting not to in person.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Outstanding resort!

I have never stayed at a more welcoming, beautiful, clean and overall wonderful resort. Every staff member was insanely nice. The food was amazing! The entire resort is absolutely breathtaking. I will stay here every time i come to Mexico!

Crown Paradise Club: Not for singles, or families with older children.

We would not return to this hotel. It is totally geared to families with young children, and you need to be prepared to wait for almost everything. They had our reservation mixed up, and it took hours and hours to check in and finally get our room. The staff although pleasant and trying to help, were in most cases unable to assist as their English was extremely limited. The buffet food was adequate at best, and definitely repurposed day to day. The on-site restaurants, were also a disappointment. They pools, were nice, however the swim up bar was understandably in the adult pool, however it was in the "jacuzzi" part of the pool, and extremely HOT! If I had young children (3 to 12), I might consider returning for a few days, as the premises is geared towards the kids, and the kids pool area is fantastic.

Hotel Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Marina El Cid

Visited Marina El Cid on October 13-20. This hotel is great. If you’re looking for a beach vacation this is not the place BUT the hotel, pools, staff, rooms, grounds are all great! Clean and lush!

Barcelo Maya Palace: Amazing

A very nice resort. More matured crowd and kids have their own play area. There is 5 resorts in one. The food is amazing. The resort is very clean. I stayed in barcelo maya palace. I am going to save to go again. We got a free 2.5 hours bus ride to playa carmen a town close about 30 mins to the resort. They offered free scuba diving lesson in the pool.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great Resort

We've stayed at the Bahia Principe resort on the Mayan riviera over 10 times now and always have a great time. We like the fact that it''s actually 4 resorts in one with plenty of variety. Rooms are big and airy and cleaned religiously every day. There are over 10 speciality restaurants dealing with every kind of food. BUT: book immediately on arrival as they fill up quickly. We will be going back again. Only downside is the drive from the airport which is about 90 minutes.

Riu Flamingos: Good resort and value

The hotel was clean and excellent location. The food was good but entertainment definitely needs improvement and to enfor e asuly only pool section. Great staff in dining and housekeeping. Overall good value for your money.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Great resort

We enjoyed our stay at grand sirenis! The room are very big (we had 2 rooms side to side but no communicating door) and clean. The cleaner are doing an excellent job daily, we had everything we needed daily. The only exception I would say is the bath in both rooms were not so clean but we didn't use it since shower are big and separated from the bath. They also filled the fidge with different drinks daily. The resort is great, different pools, lazy river, activity all day long, different buffet/pizza/bbq/snack all day. The food is excellent and you have different option all day and all night. There is an excellent café directly on the resort which is so good!! The personnel on the resort is very kind and funny. There is always a show at 21h which is more music and show dance. The beach is very nice but we had found it small compare to other resort we went too and the sand wasn't as soft as we thought but definetly a wonderful beach with very nice fish that comes close to us. If you are a early bird, you will enjoy the sunrise at the beach where its quiete and peacful! The only thing we were desapointed in is the smell in some area on the resort especially in the morning.. there is definetly something that they can improve in that direction. Hotel is about 1h from the airport but at this time of year( Oct 2022) they had road construction so I would say more like 1h30-2h of drive. Overall of our stay was great! I recommend this resort but it seems that there is the same resort in Recuplic dominicain and it seems to be better with water slide.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Busy

The hotel was crowded and there was not enough staff. Just too many people coming into the complex. One pool area and restaurant was closed for renovations so that made the other two restaurants and pool areas crowded. There was not enough staff to clean the public washrooms around the resort so some were in bad shape and not very clean. We were in building 3 and just behind us was where the nightly entertainment took place and it was very, very loud. This went on for 1 1/2 hours. The food [... read more] was tasteless and the choices seemed to be the same every night. The service was good. The Sunwings rep did not show up until we were ready to leave so we had to go to customer services to find out when the bus was coming to pick us up for the return trip to the airport, as it turned we had to take a taxi to the airport, which Sunwings paid for. This was not a 4 star resort.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Amazing!!

Best resort I've been to out of all the all inclusives. Staff were amazing and the alcohol selection was great. Food was amazing. I actually preferred the buffet over restaurants. Dorado is the best restaurant.

Crown Paradise Golden: Excellent Resort

This is an excellent hotel. Very clean, Rooms are very nice, i had an ocean view room which was great. Food was Good. There breakfast buffet is good, i tried out several of there restaurants and no complaints about the food, my favorite was the French cuisine, and also El Salvador's. Very close to downtown Malecon, and 100 Mexican peso will take you there in 15 minutes. Very close to the marina you can walk there and lots of Restaurants there if you decide to eat out one evening. you c [... read more]an also see all the cruise ships coming and going from the resort beach. I have not travelled anywhere in over 3 years due to the pandemic, and i wasn't sure what to expect in Mexico or at the Hotel Resort. Everyone was being themselves No masks anywhere, There is sun beds on the beach with is a distance from One another, but again everyone was being themselves and it was like the pandemic was over, My suggestion is always wash your hands and sanitize no matter what. The hotel has nightly shows which are very good, i saw two shows during my 7 days, the Mexican show, and Broadway. I have stayed at this hotel several times and what brings me back to the same hotel is the service. all the staff is very friendly.

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Amazing vacation!

We spent 11 fantastic days at Breathless Riviera Cancun. Rooms were very clean and checked twice a day (special thanks to our room maid, Chris). Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurants- we have used mainly Spoon for breakfast and lunch, plenty food and very attentive staff, special thanks to hostesses Julissa, Axel, Crisantema, also to restaurant staff, especially Pascual, Joakin and Angel. The overall experience at Breathless was amazing, thank you all the staff!

Sunscape Cancun Resort and Spa: In need of renovations

Stayed at the Wyndham Alltra for a week. This hotels location is great. Rooms are spacious we had room 2469 oceanview Beach 5/5 Food 2/5 Service 3/5 Pool 2/5 This hotel needs major renovations. Cleanliness is lacking, we saw a huge cockroach in the buffet restaurant.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Resort is GREAT - bit of a problem with late night noise

This is an absolutely fabulous facility. The staff is exceptional. Everyone is extremely helpful. The bars and drinks are top notch and you can get pretty much anything you want and it's always served with a smile. The buffet is out of this world good with a huge variety. You could eat there every meal if you wanted. That said - the a la carte restaurants (we ate at most of them as we stayed for 11 days) are some of the best we've been to. A bit of an issue with booking them though as we  [... read more]only booked 4 when we got there and had trouble booking the rest as they were booked. Had to use the buffet a few nights but again... the food there is great. The beach and pools are absolutely stunning too! Unfortunately, our Ocean View room was just up from the nightly music entertainment (10:30 pm to midnight) and they blasted the music extremely loudly. Pretty much didn't get to sleep before midnight any night. Also, one night, some "guest" brought a boom-box and they partied in that area (drunk dhouting, yelling, whistling until 3:45 am) - not a great sleep that night. One small issue that relates to Air Transat and not the hotel. We met our rep on the scheduled morning and he was okay - a bit rushed. He offered a free tour of Playa del Carmen but since we were travelling with another couple, we didn't sign up right away. He was almost impossible to find after that initial pre-scheduled meeting. We visited the desk 2 or 3 times a day for the next three days and he was never around and no one knew when he was going to be there. Finally, someone in guest services located his schedule but he was a no show for his scheduled time. Finally, guest services tracked him down at one of the other resorts and we booked the tour. PS: I wouldn't recommend the free tour to the jewelery place and tequila place and 2 hrs in Playa del Carmen. It turned out to be a full day of high presure sales with half of it just waiting around for the bus. If you want to go to the city - I'd recommend just taking a taxi. Luckily we had 11 days but if it was a 7 day vacation, wasting a full day for a 2 hour walk in the city would have been pretty bad.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Absolutely wonderful!

Everyone and every thing was excellent. Food was plentiful and delicious. Room was clean, big and nice view off balcony. Where do I start with staff… A big thank you to Nancy, management and staff for always being friendly, happy and helpful. From the time you walk in your treated exceptionally.
