Resort was clean and well kept. Food was good. Service was good most of the time. Main complaint was that we had trouble getting new clean beach towels. Sometimes had to wait for hours. Room cleaning was not consistent - sometimes we didn't get wash cloths, sometimes we didn't get pillow cases on our pillows. Resort is very large so you have to take a shuttle to everything. Beach was very nice and cleaned every day.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great resort!
Myself and my family with young child stayed at the resort from Dec.19 to Dec.26th. Ohhhh my God not sure from where to start. Grounds are beatiful and kept very clean at all times. Rooms are big with very comfy bed, fridge restocked every day with variety of soft drinks like coke, sprite, fanta, water and beer. Buffet is amazing with a great variety of food, such as mexican buffet, chineese buffet, desserts, fruits, ice cream, salads. Several a la carte restaurants like Brazilian, Japaneese, [... read more]Sea food, International, Medeteranian, Tequila restaurant and several others spread between the Tulum and Coba resourts. We were allowed to use the restaurants and the buffets at both resourts the Tulum and the Coba. At the Coba there is daulphins show every day at 11:30 am which everyone can attend and it was free as well. The Coba portion of the resorts had a water park for the children. Staff at the resourt was working around the clock to make sure there is no shortage of food, that everything is clean.
Only not very good thing was the evening shows scheduled for 9:00 pm. They were either none or very poor organized or rescheduled at the last moment. Overall great resort!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Super deluxe
This was a fantastic week..great foods..pools..ocean beaches turtles..have recommended it to a couple already they will call you..we did 1 extra trip to Xcaret worth every penny of the 150.00 approx..12 hours not enough to see this park..super show at 8 pm for 2 hours
My mother and I traveled to Jamaica for my cousins wedding during December 3rd-December 11th, 2016 as part of a group of ~60 individuals. We stayed at the Grand Bahia Principle Jamaica in Runaway Bay and we are extremely dissatisfied with our vacation stay for many reasons.
First, throughout the week there were consistent problems with the utilities. There were power outages throughout the week, and there was one day and morning that we were without water. As well, for a large portion of the [... read more]week we did not have air conditioning or warm water in the room to shower with. We also got stuck in the hotel elevator, which was happening throughout the week so we began to avoid the elevators. We understand that things happen; however, it was disappointing that these issues were not resolved during our stay and that there was no communication from the hotel at all with their guests. We were given no explanation for the reasons there were issues with the utilities, no explanation as to how these issues were being reconciled, and we were not offered anything in lieu of the situation (e.g., candles/flashlights). For example, one evening the power was out in the dining hall and there were no candles or signs put out by the food. Guests were walking around trying to use their cell phones to figure out what the foods were and to see what they were taking. The only explanation I was given was that they were in the advanced stages of fixing the problems; yet, these problems persisted all week.
Although some of the power came back in certain areas of the hotel, there were still areas that were out of power. The only emergency lights were in the hallways and so other areas that were out of power were completely dark; we felt unsafe using these areas (e.g., bathrooms on the resort). We felt unsafe due to the behaviour of the security guards in the evening. The security guards often made gestures, inappropriate comments, or sometimes followed us. Some of my cousins had similar experiences, particularly the bride-to-be. This made us feel extremely uncomfortable, particularly in areas of the resorts where the power was not restored.
As well, there was an odd situation that happened to my mother on my cousin’s wedding day. My mother was relaxing in our room between the wedding ceremony and reception when there was a knock on the door. My mother did not answer the door because she was not dressed and did not know who was at the door. A man entered and seemed surprised that she was there stating, “Oh what are you doing home?â€. My mom was frantically trying to cover herself and she could only make out that the man said something about checking the bathroom. He did not check the bathroom and he left. We filed a security report with the hotel, for which we were never followed up as promised by a staff member.
In addition, the hotel was not stocked with the basic necessities or items that you would expect to be available as part of an all-inclusive vacation. The bathrooms by the pool and beach were often not re-stocked with soap or toilet paper. On one occasion, the bathroom by the beach was not stocked with soap or toilet paper first thing in the morning. We asked throughout the day for the bathroom to be stocked since we were spending the day at the beach, and by the end of the day no one had come to re-stock the bathroom. As well throughout the week, the bars around the resort would not have the ingredients needed to make the drink you requested. We were usually settling for alternative drinks that we did not really want. As well, one full day by the pool and beach bar the hotel was out of cups. We were unable to even get a drink of water during the day in the sun. Another day at 10 am when the pool bar opened they were also out of cups and ingredients for many drinks.
My birthday was during our stay and my mother planned a surprise birthday party for me on December 6th. My mother ordered a cake from the hotel on the Sunday and she was told that the order was put through for $20 US and she could come back to pay. When she returned, she was told the cost of the cake was $38 US. In addition to the inconsistent pricing, the cake that she had paid for in advance was never made. During our dinner, my mother had to secretly try to get our family to stay while she tried to find out for over an hour what was happening with the cake. She finally demanded for a manager and we received Rudolph. His customer service was exceptional, but unfortunately it was a little too late, as he informed us that the cake was never made. We understand that the power had been going out that day, but we would expect the hotel to inform us that the request could not be made, rather than us having to chase someone down for an extended amount of time.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. While some of the hotel staff was considerate, many of the hotel staff were very rude. It made the whole experience even worse on top of the above issues I have mentioned. We understand that many of the guests might have been taking out their anger on the staff, which we did witness and we agree is unfair, but we did not feel that anything was being done to better our experience, especially considering the circumstances with the power and water outages.
Unfortunately, we are disappointed because we do not feel that we received a 5-star experience worth the $3279.44 that we paid for our vacation. We feel that the quality and reputation of this hotel and this travel package was misrepresented. We travel often down south every year and we have never had even close to such an experience as we had this week, even in hotels with a lower star status.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Beautiful Views
Hotel was very disorganized when checking in. Papers not ready. Given key didn't work had to go back. Safe was not reset had to wait 2 days (after numerous calls) to get someone to come and reset it. Towels were taken from the room in the morning and had none until i called and asked when they would be coming. Shower head bracket broken - couldn't raise it so water came out at a 4 ft level. TV was fuzzy and no English stations - till speaking to other guests we were told they had channels -[... read more] that took 4 days.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Fun place
We were a family with 2 young kids and we spent christmas at the hotel.
The beach was very nice though people claim its murky. Its simply because of the sand. Kids had an amazing time with the figferent shows they have.
Staff are very nice and room clean. Food was good too.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Beautiful, clean and well maintained resort
The resort itself is beautiful. Rooms are clean, food is incredible, beach is meticulously raked all day. Water is not as blue as you may be expecting, and all excursions require a boat ride or a bus ride out for more than one hour. It is the only resort that is on the beach so quite private. Great for couples or families.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Excellent resort
Overall excellent food and services. Very good for tennis players: 3 hard courts and 2 artificial courts. It's easy to find partners for doubles. The service at the main buffet was very good. Polite staff and friendly. Grand Bahia Principe is very well located, near Playa del Carmen and not too far from the different excursions.
We enjoy our stay at Bahia Principe Tulum and we'll go back next year.
After checking into Luxury Bahia hotel we then went over the desk that handled the scheduling for dinner reservations for our ( as stated on the Air Canada Vacations, Unlimited a la carte , we were only able to book 2 reservations, we asked about several other restaurants and were either told they were closed until December 26th or the Manager of the Bahia hotel was not giving and reservations to guest at the Luxury.
We spoke to the Air Canada rep that was on site after the orientation,. she[... read more] said leave it with her and she would loo k into it, there was also other guest that were at this same orientation that had the same problem. That same day we spent the day at the pool and got back to our room at 5:25 pm, and we left for dinner around 6:30 and got back to the room around 8:30. When we return to our room we found a dinner reservation for that same night for 5:30, so we got informed of this 3rd reservation after it actual had past.
The Air Canada rep on site seemed like she knew what to say, but she did not get anything resolved.
On Thursday morning my wife and I got up early because we had a massage at 10am booked, with the spa circuit booked at 9am. Each morning when we were leaving the room I always put the sign on the door that the room was ready to be cleaned. We returned to the room close to 6pm that night and that the room still had not been clean. I went looking for the maid whom I found down the hall and asked her for towels, she informed me that she did not have any. How is she cleaning and preparing rooms without supplies?
When I got back to my room I called the butler service, they brought some towels to allow us to clean up. After having our showers I stopped by the front desk and asked to talk to the Hotel Manager or Assistant Manager, I was informed by the front desk clerk that there was no manager, I find this hard to believe, especially since she went in the back room and when she returned she told me to try again to speak to someone tomorrow.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Awesome with a catch
We just enjoyed our 10th visit to Coba which was great.
The resort staff and the food are fantastic.Lots to do on the resort and an amazing variety of extra activities available nearby.
Our disappointment this year was the fact that we were previously told as a 10 time guest we would qualify again for VIP extra perks and special considerations. Unknown to us their Head Office changed all VIP perks (effective Nov.1/16) for returning guests starting on their 11th visit, and it was very unclear j[... read more]ust what our status really was.
The communication with the resort before we left was very poor as we were not told what we got as a 10 time returning guest and once we arrived we found out we didnt get much.
We will consider going back but before we book again we will confirm what the Coba has to offer.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Nice resort
We found the resort overall to be nice, it wasn't amazing though. There were a lot of kids as it's very much family oriented but we still had fun as a couple. The food was okay in the buffets, if you go anytime around an hour after it opens the food is cold and there's not as much selection. The restaurants were much better, we tried the Brazilian, Mediterranean, Japanese, and the don Pablo gourmet and all were delicious. The shows we're okay, the magic show at coba was amazing one night. All th[... read more]e staff were very friendly and fun. We also had a leak in our bathroom but they were right on top of it and fixed it within a couple hours. The beach had a red flag up our whole trip as it was very wavy but they have little areas blocked off that you can still go into where they break the waves. There's beach volleyball too at tulum.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great staff
The grounds were clean and well kept although the beach was not great. The location was a little remote (1h 30m bus ride) but there were plenty of things to do while on the resort grounds. The shows at the end of the night were fun and worth attending, the food was better than expected, and the staff were amazing! My favourite waiter was Wandy who works at the buffet and I always made sure to sit in his section. For the money, it is a decent experience but if you are looking for a gorgeous beach[... read more], it may not be the best resort for you.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Left a lot to be desired
Stay: dec 17-24, 2016.
Food selection: good. Dolce Vita was very buggy restaurant, bugs flying around. La Brisa was very good especially at Breakfast (excellent omelette bar)
Beach: left a lot to be desired. Sand fleas ate our feet and legs and whole bodies. Public merchants always hounding when got close to Playa Indiana.
Staff: very friendly. Evening Circus show was INCREDIBLE! Best show of the week by far.
Mini golf/Tennis area: smelled of sewage frequently but sweet mini putt course.[... read more]
Site: pretty great. Large property, could walk for a long time without going in the same area, well maintained.
Overall I wouldn't go back because I am huge in to snorkelling and there really wasn't much clear calm water for a reef or to see anything the resort is on the north side of the island in the Atlantic Ocean which is rarely calm. But sun was good and comfy lounge chairs on the beach were pretty good.

When we arrived we were immediately upgraded from Gran Bahia Principe Coba to Gran Bahia Principe Tulum. This was great as Tulum is steps from the beach. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Disappointed this time
We have been to this resort 7 times and brought numerous friends and relatives here with us. Needless to say, we have really enjoyed this resort over the years. Since this resort has gone to luxury, the services in my opinion have gone downhill. We were treated like royalty last year including gold wristbands for extra perks, fruit basket ,champagne and the ocean view we requested. This year it was like we had never been here before, the friends we brought got a room in the new section, we got a[... read more]n old musty smelling room. We are not ones to complain, but this was by far the worst trip to this resort. There were a lot of little cutbacks from previous years. Don't get me wrong, the grounds are beautiful, majority of the staff were very pleasant and the food is very good. We really just feel that as return guest year after year and introducing new people to this resort would result in being treated better. We will be writing a letter to management, because I'm sure they would like to be informed of any complaints.
