Melia Jardines del Rey: Good resort

The bad thing was no towals to many mosquitos in the room, hard pillows, too much walking to go anywhere in the resort, no too much selection on food, service was ok, night shows was ok too, no too much selection in alcohol just beer available

Melia Jardines del Rey: Mixed Opinions.

Upon arrival we were promised several upgrades as we purchased the elegance suite. Mini bar was not stocked, did not receive beach towels until the 3rd day, one full day with no toilet paper, only 2/4 promised a la carte dinners (which were pri-picked and had to eat at the same restaurant twice which i didnt even like the first time, and when asked if they could accomodate us to switch for allergy reasons, we were denied even though all the restaurants were always only 1/3-1/2 full which leads m [... read more]e to think they were seriously understaffed). cuban beaches are for the most part nice but this location had sandfleas or nats which i had no idea about as well as roots in some parts of the beach which stuck up, and unfortunately this beach front was very rocky with mostly dead coral). The first time in cuba, the people were amazing. They are just radiating with positivity and friendly, however this time some staff were just rude and ignored you, with the exception of a few staff which were amazing and stood out among the others. The gardiners and entertainment staff are amazing, as well as most of the bar staff/customer service/hospitality staff. The resort however was newer and the food was considerably good for cuban quality food. Its a shame that the negatives affected my overall opinion, because generally speaking i had a great time aside from the above mentioned. Im just not sure id return to this resort. if i did, it would be because of the great staff i encountered despite all the negatives. these staff should be commended because i was blown away by how well they can socialize, entertain, be friendly, as well as their generosity. on a final note, pools were great, beaches average, and room cleaners were fantastic and friendly

Melia Cayo Coco: Beautifull Beach !!!

My husband & I have been to Cuba 9 times over the past 11 yrs. We have stayed at Melia resorts 8 of those times, this is our 2nd time at the Melia in Cayo Coco.. What we love about this place is everything!!!We love that it is an all adult hotel, the service Is fantastic! This hotel has the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen in Cuba!! The staff is sooo friendly, & they cannot do enough to please you. The quality of food is great! Melia Jardines del Rey: Very large beautiful resort.

This resort was good. The food was okay but they kept running out of such things of towels, butter, food and money (change). We could not get change from anywhere on the resort, not at the front desk, bars or even the bank. We visited the Melia Cayo Guillermo and got change no problem. They need more staff to accommodate visitors. Pools, rooms, entertainment and beach are amazing. Would we go back? Maybe.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Superb Time

We are already planning to return. The beach, the rooms and the food were excellent. The staff were beyond words. They treat you like family. This was our tenth trip to Cuba-second time to Sercotel. The first time was 5 years ago and was our first trip to Cuba. We enjoyed our trip then too but wanted to try some different resorts. We have enjoyed every trip but this one was special. But there is nothing else you need. Clean comfortable rooms, warm weather, great beach and unmatched hospitality. Everything you need.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great for Families!

It's a smaller resort with mature landscaping and well maintained grounds. The rooms are dated but large and everything worked well (air conditioning, hot water etc.) The beach is stunning! At low tide the beach is wide and we never had to battle to get beach chairs or shade as the mature trees bordering the beachfront offered great shade all day. The buffet had variety and our favourite was the grill station or pasta/rice station. Muthu Colonial Hotel: amazing spot

This was our 7th trip to the Hotel Colonial - the best yet....lots new renovations, clean, wonderful. Hope to be back next year. Can't beat the beaches in Cuba, the water crystal clear and the sunshine amazing.

Hotel Camino del Mar: A second home for repeat guests

As a repeat guest I know what Im getting at this beautiful resort, with new ideas on the rise, old friends, beautiful beaches and great food, what can I say. Ana and Denise make the place fun, Hosea willing to do the extras in the International, Jesus in the Italian, always accommodating, linet and Maria front desk always helpful to answer any question, Lazaro, security, very professional, always helpful. There are so many reasons to return, and I hope that new people will enjoy as much as I have, as it has become my home and I only visit Canada, ha ha!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Wonderful familiar place

a great place. My 4th time. The staff are like family. The grounds wonderful. Rooms are a bit tired but we only sleep there. Worried about the massive construction on Cayo Guillermo. My 2 weeks at Daiquiri were very crowded.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Average

The resort very large careful if you have a disability, resort only a years old will take a few years for the grounds to mature however the peaple very pleasant always ready to help you, the pools are great and area kept clean, beach towels, toilet paper, a gold camodity, food always warm not hot that was a problem, and not a great choice of fresh fruit other than that enjoyed the place especially the fresh fish assortment.

Hotel Playa Coco: Horrible property

Checked in on a Friday evening. Looked at three rooms with no air conditioning whatsoever.The scent of mold was over the top on the ground floors viewed..Checked out the next morning! Far removed from anything to explore and or look at.

Hotel Mojito: Amazing resort ! Friendly people!

We had a great time! Beautiful beach, pools! Beautiful people! My girls 14 and 10 loved the entertainment at the hotel. Service is amazing ! They really make you feel like at home, excellent for families :)

Melia Jardines del Rey: Disappointed

It was to big for me, beach had lots of coral and stones need water socks. Buffet area to small for the size of resort. Beach towels big issue, they are not washed on site but sent out so can be days without one. Food will it's Cuba nothing seems to get better, never go hungry but for a new resort I did expect better food. I would never go back.

Hotel Playa Coco: It's Cuba

Hotel Playa Coco held no major surprises. It is a nice resort, beautiful beach and the food was as expected. They are doing renovations through out the resort and some badly needed updates are being done. However, demand vs. supply is a constant issue in Cuba and there is not always enough to supply to meet the demand. A wise traveller would bring essentials with them, toilet paper, band aids, creams etc...don't count on the hotel store to stock these items. They carry very little in way of esse [... read more]ntial items. The staff are wonderful and try very hard. They are friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and we had no issues with the services provided. Being on the Cayo, excursions are necessary to leave the resort area. Bring bug spray...even though they sprayed (fogged) 3x a daythe sand fleas and mosquitoes are out in full force. You can't escape them. I would go back to Hotel Playa Coco as it is a decent resort for the money.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Fantastic time

Loved the resort. Clean, not too big. The staff were amazing and the food was also great (and not just Cuban standards). The beach and the water were breathtaking. I am not sure if the season was low, but there were always plenty of beach chairs as well as around the pool. Food and drinks around the clock, and you could always find the proper amount of activity, from none to plenty. Entertainment staff made sure to keep busy the kids and the adults. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Compact beautiful resort

My wife and I along with 4 other good friends just returned from a stay from March 21-28 2016. The friendliness of the staff from front desk, bars, maids, gardeners, waiters and waitresses are second to none. The entertainment team really go out of their way to make sure your stay is memorable and make you feel welcome. Special shout out to Odie, Ernie and Alex, what a wonderful sense of humour. The Varadero or Manztanza buildings are close to everything but really none of the buildings are far away from anything.We even had a bottle of rum in our room upon check in which we assume was because we were returning guests. The only thing we thought that might improve this amazing resort would be an improved cleanup around the pool deck and maybe a 24hr snack bar would be nice. We would not hesitate to visit again though, wonderful vacation.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Beautiful beach

We had a great 7 day stay. The rooms were dated but comfortable and clean. The food was good. Lots of choices. The grounds and pool areas were pleasing. The beach is awesome! We enjoyed sunrises, sunsets and long walks on this all sand beach

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Amazing resort

This was an awesome resort, the staff was extremely friendly and yes I know that they are suppose to be but not everyone is always that way, but at this resort I found all staff to be very friendly, from the reception in the lobby to the grounds personal that you didn't come in contact with very often. The food was very good in all resteraunts on this resort. The only down side to my visit if any, and I'm not sure you can even call it a downside would be the size of the pool, I found it to be a  [... read more]bit small, but in saying that if you take into consideration the size of the resort it was never over crowded and that might be because the beach was a 2 minute walk from the pool. I would recommend this resort to anyone that is looking to get away to but only if your looking to enjoy yourself.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Melia Jardines del Ray - OKAY!

We traveled February 26 - March 4th from Hamilton. Not the most inviting airport but a lot more convenient than Toronto. Free parking but you have to walk outside to the plane. Check In - The process was a bit different. We arrived at the resort around 10:30 pm and we were ushered into a big room for a group orientation. We were given our bracelets and room keys and left after about 30 minutes. Good food - Lots to choose from, you'll never go hungry Buffet is good but a little small for the reso [... read more]rt size. They opened a second buffet mid-trip and made all the difference in the world. Snack Bar needs some work but the a la carts were great! Clean modern rooms - although our maid missed our room the first day and wouldn't set our twin beds as a king like we asked, all in all not bad. Nice shower and tub and sink was outside of the bath so 2 people can get ready at once. Beach - Good beach - Long stretch with at least a 30 minute walk in either direction Some rocky coral upon entry but the beach itself is sandy - need to bring aqua shoes to enjoy the ocean - on the positive side, didn't need to travel far to snorkel Pools - 2 big pools - one really active and the other quiet - we spent cloudy days by the quiet pool. Pools had some algae on the walls which could mean either they weren't cleaned often or the chlorine levels were a bit low (speaking as a Pool Operator) Disco- had a cover charge and drinks were not included Resort/grounds- this place is massive. Beautiful flora but needs some time to grow in. Very clean grounds with golf cart transport when required. Got to use my Fit Bit step tracker and tracked around 8,500 steps a day on average! The lobby was a great place to hang out at night. Entertainment - Got to see "Buena Vista Social Club" live in concert at our resort! Super show and definitely worth the $$. The evening entertainment was corny some nights but other nights it was great with live bands, acrobats, to "men in tights". Some shows were in the Lobby with audience participation which was great. Gym/Workout Facility - Decent with newer equipment. Got a couple of good workouts in during the week. All in all, another great Cuban vacation! 7.5 out of 10!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Cuban vacation April 14-21, 2016

Firstly, I have to say that the Cuban people at this resort and in the area in general, including excursions, etc., were wonderful. So friendly, their ability to speak English, and other languages was awesome, the language barrier was not a problem. The rooms are a basic room, nothing fancy and always clean. There are no facecloths in Cuba, so take some. I also brought extra toilet paper and glad I did, it was needed close to the end with no extra's available. A few things about the resort that [... read more] disappointed and need to be mentioned. 1. There was no direction in our room on how to use the phone. This sounds trivial but if there had been an emergency in the middle of the night, or just a general question to the front desk, we would not have known what number to call. This was not explained at the welcome greeting with Air Transat. We did not find out until the last day that we just needed to call Zero for any assistance. 2. The plugs on one of the walls in my room did not work - I had to call to go to the front desk to ask to get this fixed (because I didn't know who/how to call) and it was done, same day. 3. We had 4 rooms on the ground floor of building No. 5 - they had sliding doors of which none locked!! Luckily safety was not an issue, but not a nice feeling when going to bed or leaving the room unattended all day. 4. Beach towels is a stupid set up: get a ticket at the front desk, take it to the towel hut, HOPE that they have towels for you on your first day. Towels can be exchanged daily or whenever you want. The day you leave you return the towels, get your ticket, take it back to the front desk and they clear your file - lose towel and it's the most expense towel you've ever bought in your life!! Bathroom towels are not changed daily whether they are left hanging up or on the floor. Also, the curtain rod in my shower, and the room next door, would fall the minute you touched it. Very dangerous. 5. The food at the resort was ok. There was always something that we liked to eat - nothing overly fantastic - but we certainly did not go hungry. Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was fine and the a la carte meals were good, although pork on the menu's was not available in the Cuban and Portugese restaurants, sold out for the 8:30 settings. The Italian night was good, as well as the entertainment that went with it. Thoroughly enjoyed. 6. Staff in all the bars/restaurants were GREAT, very patient/eager to please especially when dealing with people and free drinks!! All hotel staff we encountered were nice. 7. The bank did not always have the denominations of money that we wanted, ie: small bills, made it hard for lots of tipping. 8. The beach was beautiful, little crowded but it WAS March Break. You had to get your beach and/or deck chairs very early and unfortunately many chairs were saved with towels in both places all day by people who were a no show until late in the day. The pool was lovely, always clear and clean and we loved the fact that we could wade into the water from one end and enjoy the swim up bar at the other end. I would go back sometime, but there are other parts of Cuba and the Caribbean that I would like to see first. It is a family oriented resort and you could clearly see the children were having a good time.
