Hotel Camino del Mar: Just ok!
My boyfriend has been to this resort many times and always loved it. Unfortunately the resort is showing its age, the beach was once beautiful but was not kept up while we were there. It is under new management and most of the old staff has moved on. The service has gone down hill. Two couples who travelled with us were without hot water or air conditioning all week. Even after moving rooms.
Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Paradise
Hotel grounds were amazing clean great beach, friendly staff wish we could be there again. Pool was enormous lots of beach chairs, drinks were delightful and unique, my family and I made good choice and definitely will go back to thi s resort.
Sol Cayo Coco: Amazing beach
The Sol has a quiet beach out of the wind in a sheltered cove as well as the main one in front of the resort. We had an ocean view room and it was lovely. Food was good, loved the pizza. Will definitely be back.
Hotel Vigia: Amazing beach
Needs renovations. Good if you get a low price. Beach is amazing clear water very shallow. Food was ok lots of selections. Service was excellent all the staff outstanding. Room is outdated but everything worked fine.
Sol Varadero Beach: Dump!!!
We stayed on the Coral side for one night and moved to a new resort. The resort is rundown. There are also abandoned buildings in the middle of the resort. This was our fourth time in Cuba and this was by far the worst.
Melia Marina Varadero: melia marina apartments veradero cuba
Great view of the marina facing the hotel and can view ocean. Room 6406 (all rooms start with 6) great friendly staff. Suggestions for buying your food: make a trip to veradero as food/beer etc half price. There is a grocery store on sight, fresh baguettes to purchase a cafe, and fruit/veggie stand along boardwalk on site. Found a great food spot around the corner from one of the main shopping complexes in veradero that had the best food for 2 peso! Would definately go back but bring condiments, [... read more]
Hotel Vigia: Great resort for Cuba on a budget!
They rate this resort as a 3.5 star and it is all that and more! We went to Veradero last year to a 3.5 star (Punterena Celeta) and that one should have been condemned. We thought we would give Cuba another try and we are happy we did! Although this is an older resort that needs some attention, the staff is excellent to see to your needs and correct any problems. The beach is as good as Bavaro beach in Punta Cana, although it is quite windy. There is a tide there, so you can walk a long ways out [... read more]
Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great food and service, beach was adisappointment.
Great food rooms and service Beach was a disappointment as weak swimmers would have trouble with the sharp drop off and undertow at the beach. Pool area was very good. Air Canada rep was no where to be found.
Hotel Vigia: Very Dissapointed :o(
My husband and I stayed at Sol Cayo Guillermo March 3-10...the resort needs a MAJOR upgrade!! Room was good for Cuba but our toilet didnt flush and the sheets were stained. Line-ups to the buffet was horrible! 1/2 hour or more wait...supper was the worst as it only started at 7pm. Chairs at the pool and beach were next to impossible to get if you didnt "claim" them at 6am! There was only ONE blender on the whole resort so if you wanted any kind of frozen drink then you'd have to once again ge [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: The Melia Marina was a great surprise.
I really enjoyed this hotel. The food was really good, I enjoyed the little boardwalk by the marina with the shops, try the Anana Pina Colada by the ward it's a great setting and a nice refreshing drink. There is tons of staff they are great with people and kids! There's always chairs at the pool! The only down size there's a 5 min strole to the beach and yiu can't see it from the hotel but the staff gets you chairs, sits you down and the restaurant on the beach quickly makes you forget that wal [... read more]
Melia Las Americas: Wonderful experience
Overall we had a great experience at this hotel. Although the building looked a little worn down from the outside, the inside was beautifuly finished with marble floors, wood details and concrete walls; the grounds were well maintained. The rooms were very clean but room service was very slow. Front desk staff was helpful. I must admit that the food was excellent. Love the grills and the fresh eggs or omlettes in the morning, cooked just the way you like it, or the selection of meats and fish fr [... read more]
Hotel Camino del Mar: Melia Cayo Guillermo Feb 27 to March 5 2016
First trip to Cuba and didn`t know what to expect. It is a bit of a drive to the resort and the resort caters to the elderly and families. Staff were wonderful, therooms were clean and bug free, and there was plenty of food. The dessert bar was amazing with lots of variety! Depending on the time of day and clouds, the water was a different colour every time you looked at it! Lots of beach chairs and easy to find a free one. We did not hang out at the pool, but it looked clean and they filled it [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: Should have trusted the bad reviews this time.
For the money, this was a total disappointment. Same prices as DR or Jamaica etc....but a total dump compared to what you pay the same money for there.I am not a picky eater. I eat everything.....but even I found it hard to find anything to stomach at this resort. 6 of us all got sick from eating the sandwiches by the beach. The rooms are run down and the beach is so so. It was cloudy and very windy every day and apparently this location is always windy. The house keeper never changes the sheets, [... read more]
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Wonderful holiday
This is a wonderful resort. The grounds are well maintained. Our room was always clean, never saw a bug inside. (airconditioner did not adjust, but 17° was better than too hot.) The room was very quiet overnight. The food was plentiful and good (stick to grill items for freshest). Bottled water is used throughout the resort. Bring a thermos style/travel mug to keep your water or drinks colder for longer. They will fill up your travel mug directly instead of using the small plastic cups for your [... read more]
Hotel Camino del Mar: Great Resort
Great resort very clean and everyone very friendly. Food was pretty good. The only thing was most days when everyone went for a shower at the same time there would be no hot water. Surprisingly never got bitten by mosquitoes.
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great Resort
Had a great time other than the food but you don't go to Cuba for the food. The beach was amazing with plenty of activities. There were always beach and pool chairs available. Staff were not quite as friendly as we normally find when on vacation. All in all a very nice week. Weather was perfect.
Hotel Camino del Mar: Quaint and Quiet- Just what I needed
This resort is quiet and good to relax and enjoy the weather, beach and pool areas. Food is good and property is well groomed. The public areas and our room was clean and the water was hot. It's a good resort for adults which worked for us. If you have kids I don't think much to do other than the beach and pool, not a lot for kids to do.
Sol Cayo Coco: Great Resort! With a need for improvement.
Great all around but had to upgrade my room and even then there was very poor water pressure, flat pillows. A $1900 turned into a $2100 trip very quickly with upgrade. Still enjoyed good service and beautiful beaches!
Hotel Vigia: Amazing it's still in business
A very misleading brochure for this resort. It said 24 hour snack bar, not so, no food available after 10 pm and nothing before 7:30 am. It was our 3rd year in a row and our last Im sure. This resort seems ok for folks with young children or seniors that don't expect too much.
Melia Jardines del Rey: Ok resort
Large resort with over 1000 rooms. Fairly well layed out. Rooms were spacious and well designed. Grounds well maintained. New resort so growth of plants still young. Buildings very modern looking, prefer something less so with more character. Food I would give a 4 out of 10. Vegetables very over cooked and mushy. Fairly good salad selection most days. Breakfast definitely best meal of the day. Limited selection in the 24 hour Cafe, food never hot. Service very slow. Beach very virally and almost [... read more]
