Viva Maya by Wyndham: Nice resort
The hotel is older but very clean.
Rooms are nice, grounds are beautiful and well kept.
It’s a small resort with ramps so if you have mobility issues it’s a very good resort for getting around.
Beach and ocean is terrific, very warm waters and extremely clean and very well managed.
The down fall to this resort IMO is the buffet food.
Lots of choices for Mexican food ( hence you are in Mexico)
The salads and deserts are wonderful lot of choices
The protein is hamburger meat meat b[... read more]alls, chicken drumsticks and thighs. Two soups every night.
The do have pork and fish.
But no roasts beefs, or premium meats. etc. Seems the chefs food budget is not very large for the buffet. Bacon is hidden under the flat top so you have to ask for it at the egg station if available.
They have a terrific snack bar, by the main pool. Salads pastas, terrific pizzas, cheese burgers, chilli Mexican food. Again super clean.
They leave you two water bottles, but have refilling stations all over the place and in the entrance to your rooms.
We brought down a hydrometer to test the alcohol content of the beer on tap. It’s only 2.5%. The sports bar has better beer and its 4.5% on tap with Heineken
The staff is very friendly.
Coffee and pastry bars.
All sorts of activities they even have a trapeze for those that dare to have fun.
Over all it’s a above a basic resort.‘I would return as it’s very cost effective, and beautiful .
I have it an overall 4 but the resort should be a 3.5 star.
Mostly because of the lack of different proteins, most resorts have food theme nights with a chef carving stations. His one doesn’t but it’s cost effective for a great vacation.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Great times at the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas
We enjoyed 2 weeks at the Riu Palace. The people working there were always cleaning, working, and taking care of the hotel and the grounds and it showed. The hotel was excellently taken care of.
The two large pools provided quiet times in one and activity in the other, we preferred the quiet side. Our pool waiter Berezain was excellent giving us drinks and talking with us making us feel like at home.
The main buffet restaurant was large and had a great variety of food for breakfast and supper[... read more]. Our favourite waiters Allix and Meno gave excellent service. The alacarts were good and our favourite was El Medano, our steaks were tender and tasty.
The rooms are well kept and maids gave us great service with towel friends left for us to enjoy. Any issues with the room was taken care of quickly.
Overall the resort is huge and busy but we were still able to find a lounger at 11 am. The iced coffees at capuchino were great at the end of our day.
We give the hotel 5 stars!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great trip!
We had read the reviews and I have to admit I was skeptical, but we were pleasantly surprised with the entire complex! The staff are wonderful ! We stayed in the ocean front block (# 1) and it was fabulous. We have never traveled to Mexico in September and I guess the resort was more quiet than it would be in the high season which was a bonus .The weather was awesome every day despite being the rainy season with amazing lightning and thunder some nights ! The hotel is older which is fine with [... read more]us and the location is great with the town being a 15 to 20 min walk away , a bank and grocery store up the hill and a few shops right in front of the hotel . We went to one of the evening shows which was good. There was always a decent selection at the buffet so we never bothered with the specialty restaurants. The adult pool is huge and warm and I would guess being September , we never had a problem finding lounge chairs at the pool or at the beach.
A few tips , also mentioned in other reviews as well -
-Bring a wash cloth if you want one ( none were provided although we didn't ask as I brought my own )
- Bring a cheap air mattress floaty for the lounge chairs , they are kind of uncomfortable without one ( we just give ours away at the end of our trip )
- As always , bring a good insulated cup for cocktails
Notes -
- The keys are given to you on a laynard which I believe is new and they did not charge us for use of the safe key
- We did get some wifi in the room ( block 1 ) however we were very close to the lobby bar so maybe that was just lucky ( Free wifi only in some common areas ) so I wouldn't think this is typical although I believe you can purchase wifi if need be .
- Showers are not exceptionally warm if that matters to you
-Not sure where to get coffee before 7 so we brought a mini coffee maker and coffee as I get up early
- About 50 pesos to the Bucerias market place in a cab or a 15 to 20 min walk
- We did not go into Puerto Vallarta but I did hear that you could cab for about 50 dollars ( I assume US?) or take a bus for a few dollars
All in all I would say this was great trip and we would go back to the RDC again . We also decided that although we always head to Mexico in November, September is also definitely in the cards for next year . Thanks RDC ...Hope to see you soon :)

Rooms - There isn't any privacy if your room is shared
Restaurants - The buffet has better meals than the main restaurants .
The food should be a bit more than room temperature
Alcohol tastes different from North American alcohol.
When it comes to the excursions, more details should be provided.

This was our 4th time here over the last 20 years
We’ve seen many updates and new buildings since our last visit
Overall 5/5 for cleanliness, resort staff amazing and friendly
Everyone had a smile
Room was just perfect
A lot of new little nature critters like monkeys that weren’t there a few years ago, nice to see and hard not to feed ( although clearly not recommended)

Hotel Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Perfect Vacation Resort
Great food, large pools and the staff are amazing. Couldn't ask for anything better! If you wanted a quiet pool there was one and if you wanted to socialize then the swim up bar was great. There was a mix of families and adults only with the RUF top pool and bar for adults only. So much fun thanks Diego and Raymundo.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Top Notch!!
We have travelled to plenty of resorts In The Riu chain. This is our 2nd time at Costa Mujeres Riu Palace. Very clean, staff was lovely especially Naïm in the buffet and Alejandro who kept our room perfect. The beach is wonderful but could certainly use some more shade options. The pools are great. Even though it was busy there was always a spot to sit and we didn’t feel crowded at all. Entertainment was a bit hit and miss this time. Better when we were there in October. Oleo Cancun Playa: Not a bad stay but ...
We stayed at this resort just before the COVID-19 pandemic and really enjoyed our time there, between the entertainment staff, the general bartenders and servers, and house keeping we always felt welcomed and taken care of during our stay. The food and nightly events always made for a fun evening in.
This time however was a bit different. The staff were still as friendly as ever (I was glad to see that most of the staff I remembered were still employed) however the resort itself seems to have[... read more] lost something. We were on the 1st floor and while the room was very large it had a shared door so we could hear our neighbour's throughout the day/night. We also had a couple rowdy guests on our floor across the hall who would slam their door or shout at each other waking us up multiple times each night. I don't hold this against the resort, but it didn't make our days any better.
House keeping did a great job in keeping everything clean and were very pleasant to chat with. Our room had two air conditioners with two distinct controls so we had to program both when we first arrived. When they would start up it would sound like a truck rumbling down the street or a very old air compressor was turning over. The hotel itself seemed to have hot water issues during our stay as the shower would only get lukewarm, when maintenance was called to look at it the individual told us that we would just have to run the water for 10+ minutes for it to heat up. The hotel also did have some drainage/leakage issues during one of the stronger rain storms as the ceiling near the lobby bar (tower 2) had to be taken down and cordoned off with large buckets.
The food quality was definitely less than we remembered, due to the amount of oil, fat, and cheese used in the cooking I got sick a couple times. The kitchen was more than happy to take a "special request" for me so I could have just a plate of plain boiled vegetables or chicken/beef pan fried without extra oils. We went to the Sushi restaurant only once as it was unappealing, the food wasn't necessarily bad but it wasn't good. The Italian restaurant had some very good dishes but the entire meal was never all pluses, we would have a poor 2nd course and a great main course or a overcooked dessert. The buffet was generally okay with a decent assortment of fresh fruit each morning, a couple different dishes between lunch and dinner. If you want variety in your meals I would suggest trying one of the restaurants across the street as they are decently priced and provide a change of pace against the buffet.
We had a day trip to Chichen Itza and the hotel was more than happy to provide us a packed meal and an early breakfast in the room so we could start the day right and make sure we had food and water for the trek.
Generally speaking if you want a smaller boutique hotel with friendly service and a quiet beach and don't care about the food or rooms than this is the place for you. If you are looking for a little bit more out of your resort, this may not be the best place.
we had a good time at this resort but we will probably not be going back in the near future

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Beach was beautiful, main pool was decent but the Adults Only Pool was a treat. Food was very good as were drinks. Rooms were clean and fresh for us daily. Highly recommend for a small resort for sun and relax. Thanks Susan for booking for us. Ground floor would be my choice as bigger balcony. Ours was small!!!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great Resort!
We just returned from the Royal Decameron Complex. We have been there numerous times and each time we come home feeling great and relaxed. This time was a little different as we experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4.
The staff was great in getting all the guests to a common area where we would be safe until it was safe to go back to the resort. We were very impressed with how the resort staff handled the situation.
The resort is doing some renos which will be beautiful when they ar[... read more]e completed.
When we arrived at the resort it was at 51% occupancy coming up to 91% by the time we left. Even though it was busy there was no line ups to get into the restaurants.
Most guests were very good at social distancing and masks were not mandatory
anywhere on the resort. There is hand sanitizer as you enter the restaurants and around the complex
We will return next year to our second home.
Special thanks to Carlos, Vidal, and Ruban for making our stay a memorable one.

Royalton CHIC Cancun: Not as expected
Positive points: good location, kind and hospitable staff, delicious food suitable for different tastes, large and very clean room.
Negative points: Very few swimming pools, allocation of a section called diamond which did not have a special advantage and made one of the two pools unusable for others, disarray and delays and breakdown of elevators, low quality of drinks.
