Punta Cana Princess: Very relaxing adult only resort but men pack your shoes
We just got back from a 2 week stay at the Punta Cana Princess and we had a wonderful holiday. We were looking to relax in the sunshine and sandy beach and we got what we were hoping for.
Pros:
What makes this resort stand out is the staff. All of them (bar staff, restaurant staff, entertainment team, maids, gardeners, front desk, everyone ) are very hard working but always smiling and ready with an "Hola" and really go out of their way to make your holiday great. Our towel rack came away [... read more]from the wall, I went to lobby to report it and it was fixed before I made it back to the our room an hour later. The bar staff remembered our drinks orders and always happy to serve us. As many others have mentioned, the staff really made our 2 weeks terrific.
The resort is quiet and relaxing with wonderfully maintained grounds, a nice pool and right on a lovely beach where you can walk for a long way in either direction. There are vendors but a simple no thank you (or better yet, no gracias) works. We walked the beach for 2-3 hours per day and honestly by the third day, they recognized us and did not even ask anymore. The ocean was rough on most days, lots of waves and the staff did an excellent job of cleaning up the seaweed if any showed up overnight.
Wonderful views from the beach bar and the beach BBQ that was held a few times a week was a treat, excellent ribs and other grilled food and refreshing sangria all served on the beach.
The resort is super clean, even the beach bathroom which can be hard to maintain was always clean. The rooms were very clean as well. No musty smell in the room as we have seen in other resorts and the AC worked well....so well we had to turn off some nights as it was too cool for us.
Entertainment team had many activities planned during the morning, and later in the afternoon. No pressure to join but fun if you wanted to. Most nights, we had a show or contest in the lobby bar or you could visit the Caribe Resort next door to see their show. We tried this one night, fun but we liked our resort so much better, less crowded, hectic and of course no kids...which is the main reason we chose an adult only resort.
We visited the gym almost every day, it was not huge but had all the equipment needed for a good workout, if you wanted to do one. Also, the pathways around the PCP and Caribe made great running trails if you did not want to run on the sand.
Cons:
The only small issue we had was with trying to visit the a la carte restaurants. I loved the idea on not having to make reservations but when we tried to go in one of our first nights, we were denied entry because although my husband had long trousers and a short sleeved dress shirt, he wore nice leather sandals. Now, I checked the dress code on the Princess website while packing and again the day before we left and there is no mention of closed toe shoes but this was required for entry. So, it was the buffet for us for 2 weeks. I did notice however, over the course of 2 weeks, plenty of men in casual shorts/sweatpants and running shoes eating at the a la cartes, so the dress code enforcement is inconsistent.
Management suggestion: I would recommend updating your website if closed shoes are required so that we can pack what is needed and being consistent in your enforcement of the dress code.
Having said that, it was not really an issue for us, the food at the buffet was good and each night had a different theme. The Valentine Day buffet that was put on extra special, and every night we had lots of choice of different items so very easy to have a nice meal, not a five star gourmet meal but still good.
However, I would advise against the Asian night. Both of us have good stomachs and never suffer any issues in our many years of travel but the first week I got sick after Asian night and the second week my husband did. Nothing major, better the next day but we never figured out what food caused the problem.
The guests here like at many other resorts we have been to are doing the towel dance with both pool and beach chairs being saved starting as early as 7am. My husband and I like to walk the beach and the resort and are not much for sitting on our butts all day but we had no problem finding chairs any time we wanted to relax by the pool or beach for a hour so not really a problem.
Overall, we had a great time and would return to Punta Cana Princess and would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, laid back, relaxing holiday.

Le Sivory: Hidden Gem
If you want to be pampered this is the place to go. Service & staff probably the best I have ever seen. A nice small resort - no line ups for food or the bar- no getting up at 6 to secure a lounger at the pool or beach. Would definitely go again.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Great resort
The rooms were ok.. the food was great...the staff were friendly and courteous the beach had too much seaweed but the resort made a daily effort to clean the beaches .. the theme restaurants were great and there was lots of activities to do everyday
We stayed at the Grand Bahia Punta Cana royal golden for 7 days and we were blown away with the entire experience! The staff are incredible, very happy and friendly, kind people that will go out of there way, above and beyond for anything you want or need. We stayed in villa 4 and our cleaning lady was wonderful. We absolutely loved her. We also dealt with Maria from the royal golden lobby and she was great! The beach was beautiful as well as the pools and the food was fantastic! The golde[... read more]n grill was absolutely phenomenal as well. We honestly were blown away and didn’t ever want to leave, of course because it was vacation but because it was an absolute paradise and everyone was so kind and happy. This felt like a home away from home all because of the staff. We cannot wait to go back and will likely only ever return to grand bahias after this wonderful experience!

Riu Republica: Riu Republica
I would highly recommend this resort for a relaxing adults only vacation. Very clean resort with easy access to restaurants, pools and the beach. Always easy to find a lounge chair by the pool or beach. Great food and excellent service.
Just spent a week at the Melia Caribe Beach in Punta Cana. Chose the resort because it included free golf. Resort is big but lots of golf carts to shuttle around the site. Great food, beach and pools.
The resort was beyond our dreams! The grounds were immaculate and there were so many things for the kids to do, the programming was excellent! Each night the kids had dances and there were contest on the pool deck for them to participate in. The buffet food was great and à la carte restaurants equally good (except the Tex-Mex). If you can, try the Japanese fusion and the Teppanyaki for a real treat. We only hung out at the beach a little (the waves were high and the kiddies didn't like tha[... read more]t so much) but from what we could see it was nice, albeit a little crowded. Easier to get sun chairs by the pools than at the beachfront. The rooms were really clean, however the hallways are quite echo-y and noisy, so try and remember to stay quiet at night when returning to your room in case fellow travellers are sleeping - being the family resort, many of us retire early-ish (10pm which really isn't that early). The shows were fun, however not all of them are kid-friendly so watch out for those. Mirabel, who is the kids event coordinator is fantastic and really goes out of her way to make the kids feel welcome.
Drinks at the swim-up bars seem a little watered down (so feel free to pound back quite a few!) but the ones at the main-lobby are full-strength so watch out!
We also did the Pirates of the Caribbean excision and it is great fun for kids. They do a good job of keeping the kids occupied while travelling out to the snorkelling, sting rays and sharks and have a fun play on the way back. We were really impressed with this trip and how well suited it was for the kids.
Our friends that we travelled with did have their son contract Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease near the end of the trip so that it something to watch out for, but with a place that is this kid-friendly, I suspect the toys, etc. at the Kids Club aren't always as well cleaned as they may be here in North America.
Other than that hiccup at the end, we had a fantastic time and would recommend this place to any family looking for a fun adventure in Punta Cana!

TRS Turquesa: Wonderful resort!
The TRS Turquesa is a beautiful resort. The grounds are neatly manicured and trimmed on a daily basis. All the public areas are very clean. The rooms are really well cleaned and we were surprised to even see the public washrooms so clean with the traffic of people at the resort. It is the first time in a resort that we see the washrooms close to the pool and beach that clean. The maids came twice a day to clean our room and then prepare it for the evening. The employees such as waiters, butle[... read more]rs, etc, that we dealt with were very polite and always ready to help. One day, the WiFi of the hotel was not working and one of the animator allowed us to use his phone to do our check in for our flight the following day.
The air conditioning was very cold in our rooms but we were able to control it since we each had an individual control. We heard that in other resorts the guests were not able to control the air conditioning.
There are several pools available to the guests and a beautiful beach, so everyone was scattered throughout so we did not have the feeling that it was packed. There are several palapas available for those who want some shades at the beach and at the main pool. We could walk a long distance along the beach and see various resorts. They were no weeds in the water.
The resort gave us the opportunity to dine in the other restaurants part of the Grand Palladium (GP) Group, so we had lots of variety. We did not have to reserve for the restaurants at the Turquesa but we had to reserve for the restaurants included in the GP Group. Our favorite restaurant was the Japanese Sumptuori, they were really generous with their food. Our second best restaurant was the El Dorado Steak House, the steaks were delicious. However, the beef in the other restaurants are not recommended since they are not tender and the meat is fat. There was a grill close to the beach so we could eat outside and still enjoy the sun. There was also a restaurant really close to the beach. Our favorite buffet was the Behique due to the variety of the food, warm food and quieter place than the other big buffet place. In some restaurants, we felt that the food was not warm enough and sometime overcooked.
We were not bothered by any Travellers Club Sellers. We were asked only once to attend a session and we refused and they did not bother us after.
This resort is very close to the airport; it took approx. 15-20 minutes with the shuttle to get to the resort from the airport.
We would definitely go back to this hotel. There were some activities for those who wanted to participate and they were not too loud. We were able to rest and relax at the Turquesa.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Wonderful Vacation Spot!
We have just returned from a 7-day stay at the NOW Larimar in Punta Cana.
We have nothing but good things to say about this resort. This is our 5th stay here. We stayed in the former NOW Garden as well as the main resort. We were treated exceptionally well.
The food is great with a lot of variety at the buffet and a-la-carte restaurants. You won't go hungry!
The beach is outstanding and the seaweed is removed daily. You can walk for miles, the view never gets old. The pool[... read more] areas offer relaxation or pool activities if you want to participate. The serving staff and Entertainment Team work hard to keep everyone happy.
The grounds are spacious, well maintained and beautiful.
The rooms were clean and comfortable although nothing changed too much in the last few years.
We have to say it feels like home and it's good to see some of the same staff again.

Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Great family resort
This resort is great for families with young kids. I booked a stay with Sensatori, but upon arrival I learned that I had been upgraded to the Nickelodeon side (most likely because of my kids). The room I booked was comparable to what I was offered on the Nick side, but included with my new room was free access to the Nick water park. The Sensatori resort is attached to/part of the Nickelodeon resort which is jam packed with kids activities and family attractions. There are adult only sections an[... read more]d adult only restaurants on the Sensatori side if you are travelling without kids, but the grounds and most restaurants are shared between both sides.
The grounds are well kept and the rooms are clean. It's a fairly new resort so amenities are still very new and in very good shape. The restaurants offer good alternatives to eating at the buffet. I found the buffet to have OK food, nothing special. If travelling with kids, the buffet has limited kid friendly food. My kids ate pasta most of the time. The restaurants have kid menus, but not much options my kids were interested in. My only complaint is the food selection for the buffet and the restaurants kid menus could be better.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Not the vacation I imagined :(
After 9 hours of travelling, almost another 2 hours was spent checking in. Un-Professional staff did not provide the correct VIP bracelet or instructions to the VIP check in (which we paid for). Was scammed into paying $400 USD for a spa they advised was part of our room(s) package (checked and confirmed three times before we attended on three different days and occasions), only to find out that it was not true and that we had to pay for (Thanks Jose for not even listening) Room Keys were consta[... read more]ntly being deactivated resulting in us walking from one end of the resort to the other end. Other than then that, our Air Canada reps where able to listen to our complaints but nothing was ever done, Thank you Eliso and William at least for trying.
Overall setup of the room was nice and our cleaning lady made sure it was cleaned daily (Thank you), however from when we arrived on Wednesday and informed front desk that our telephone (inside the room) was not working (for emergency reasons, still not working after we left as no one fixed/replaced the phone) and the room was infested with mosquitoes (I had to buy product to spray the room after no one came after the third day).
Also we paid for the deluxe swim up (adults only) room, however due to "changes" (that we were not notified about) on the hotel grounds - the adult only section was moved and completed on the other side of the resort, but we were stuck with the old deluxe swim up that included partying until 5:00 in the morning, followed by your choice of: intoxicated guest yelling and slamming of doors or truck horns at 6:00 - 6:30 am. Goodbye rest and relaxation!
Food and Beverage selection was fair, the Mexican restaurant was our family favorite!
Also enjoyed the VIP bar (the one we paid for) after we "found it" on the third day into our vacation, by ourselves
I felt that this "vacation" was a big money grab and a scam.
I understand that some of the services provided are a means of income for some individuals, but my family and I would have been more receptive if the truth was provided to us instead of a means to just take our money. (we spent over $500 USD in tips and gifts) and would have happily spent more if there was no hiding agenda to get money from us by any means possible!
Also the timeshare reps, 1 or 2 days of asking is appropriate. After the 5th day, just let me enjoy my vacation please, I already said no the first 4 days, day 5-7 will also be a no!
Please notify your customers of any changes to the hotel that may have happened prior to purchasing their vacation. Also please train your front desk/ reception etiquette's in customer service please? Finally, please do not scam your guest into services that they are unaware of, it leaves a bad impression and image for your company.

Vista Sol Punta Cana: Amazing Resort!!!
We really enjoyed this resort. Nice and compact!! Everything was a short walk away...2 minutes tops. Food was good, there was lots of variety. The spaghetti at lunch and supper was amazing. We went to 4 of the 5 a la carte's and would recommend them. Asian, Mexican, Gourmet and Italian. We heard not great things about the American BBQ so we avoided it. The staff were polite and helpful. The best part was the beach...lots of sunbeds available so you never worried about finding one no matter[... read more] what time of the day you went. Bathrooms need a bit of an upgrade but they still worked. We would go here again!!

Excellence Punta Cana: Pure heaven
Everything about this place is amazing from food, accommodations, staff, drinks , service, entertainment, beach, pools and activities. This was our second trip here and it was better than last year. We’ve been to the two other Excellence resorts in Mexico several times but we like the layout , beach and pools much better here. There’s always a daybed or lounge chair available at pool or beach. If you want quiet relaxation with top notch staff and service you won’t be disappointed.
This is the nicest resort we've ever stayed in. The grounds were beautiful, the pools were clean and well maintained and our room was very large with two balconies. We had upgraded to the Colonial Club, the adults only section. We had access to a butler if we needed help with anything. He made a point of checking in with us each day. Our bar fridge was restocked every day. There was a light buffet in the Colonial Club's lounge with sandwiches, snacks and wine, along with various liquors. There w[... read more]as always someone at the Club's desk to assist us with dinner reservations and answering questions. Overall the food was OK. Breakfast buffets were quite good with lots on offer. Evening meals, the meat was often tough and sometimes over/under done. We've learned not to expect gourmet food at even the best resorts. We've been on a couple of open water cruises and their food far exceeds anything from the land resorts. We avoided the adults only pools for the most part because of the noisy swimup bars. In spite of our minor concerns, this is a resort we can highly recommend.
