Kore Tulum Retreat Wellness Resort: Nice, but some improvements needed.

Small clean adults only resort with lovely staff and excellent food and drink. There were issues with spotty wifi which is available only in the front lobby unless you are willing to pay an exorbitant daily fee for room wifi. Water issues ranged from low pressure to a complete resort wide absence of water for hours at a time. No toilets or showers! The resort manager is also curt and disagreeable in dealings with guests. The staff work hard to give guests an enjoyable vacation.

El Dorado Royale: Great relaxing vacation!

Just returned from the El Dorado Royale and had a fantastic vacation. The room was very spacious, although the open concept (including the bathroom) was a little awkward as there is little to no privacy. Even the closest of couples need some privacy. We stayed in a beachfront junior jacuzzi suite on the second floor and this provided for spectacular views of the ocean. The only downside was breakfast where al [... read more]though there was one restaurant that offered a la carte choices, the resort mainly wanted you to select options from a buffet. I am not a fan of buffet, so this wasn't optimal for me.The beach, while beautiful is not really swimable. If you are looking for a beach that you can swim in the ocean, then this is likely not the right resort for you. They work hard to keep the sea weed cleared, but this seems to be a pointless task as it keeps coming all day long. There are also some sand bags and other obstacles that have been put into the water to prevent erosion which we were prepared for and have seen at other resorts. You can't blame a property owner from trying to protect the erosion of their land. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We wanted for nothing. There is a concierge service that is shared between the residents of two buildings and they are somewhat helpful, but it seems their main role is to up sell you on services and try to get you to "tour” their property and sell you either future trips or club memberships. We didn't make too much use of the concierge as a result of this constant push to buy spa or other treatments.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: True Traveller

Gounds and pool were very clean. Food is always fresh. Rooms were dated. Staff could have been friendlier. Water pressure was horrible in showers. Beach was covered in thick sea weed all along the Mayan area from hurricanes this past fall. Water was too rough to swim in at beach. Very accepting of lesbians.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: second time was not a charm!!

Came last year same time. (February) Had such a great time so decided to bring my family again this year same time.(myself, my wife, two daughters(17,25) and son(21). Overall had a great time. Food was good but found it better last year for whatever reason. Seemed more crowded so had to work harder to get the food I liked. Had to wait or ask for items where the serving plates were empty. When I did ask the service was good. Was really windy all week...same as last year. Had less seaweed [... read more] on the beach compared to last year but this year the removal was not as diligently as last year. Seaweed was left on the shore in piles for days to dry I guess before it was removed. Hard to go for an enjoyable walk on the beach. The beach is a huge part of the experience so this was disappointing. ( I took a picture) When we arrived we were surprised to see all the garbage on the beach especially in front of the quiet pool beach area. Saw many people pointing to it as they walked by. I couldn't understand why a few staff couldn't take an hour to pick it up. It was sad to look at but at the same time brought reality to the ongoing concern of plastics and garbage in our waters. Didn't want to be reminded of this during my holidays though. It wasn't until our 6th day there it was actually cleaned up. This was very disappointing. ( I took a picture) Since it was so windy all week couldn't go sailing or any water activities so went to the activity hut to get a volleyball to hopefully get a few people to play on the beach. Was told no balls. A few were stolen the day before and no replacement balls were available?? I went to the activity hut near the quiet pool and asked to get the disks and poles to play shuttle board. Took a while for the guy to look away from his phone to tell he didn't have any!!! I then asked him for bocce balls or horse shoes to play in the two sand pits they had near the shuttle board. Again,he explained that he didn't have any and made no attempt to help me in any way. His cell phone was more important!! I didn't bother asking about the archery area because it was in shambles...definitely not an option. Needless to say the week week was quiet and a little boring. I'm not a big reader and can only lay in the sun for so long. My last few hours on the beach on my last day was fun. I took a volleyball out of the hut that was under the counter and got some guys from Argentina to play volleyball on the beach for a few hours. Had lots of fun and enjoyed playing. Resort should go out of there way to make other activities available especially when the water sports are limited. Tried to book my wife and me into one of the restaurants but no luck...all booked. Waited to long to book (3rd day so my fault) Overheard a hotel representative explain to book a restaurant every day as soon as you arrive because you can always cancel. I wonder how many empty tables this causes?? When we were leaving I reserved/booked a trolley to pick us up and take our luggage to the lobby. (we always walked) Trolley never came and had to rush by foot with luggage to get to lobby to check out and meet our transfer to the airport. I asked the hotel rep. at the front of the lobby what happened to our pick up. He smiled and shrugged his shoulders!! I went to check out and had only to pay $35 for a late check out for one room which was great! Check out took over 30 min. for a simple $35 charge. Crazy! I just wanted to enjoy my last cold beer in the lobby before we left for the airport. I was excited to bring my family back to this property but will not be returning again. The property is beautiful and overall very well maintained. For the most part staff are very pleasant and go out of their way to offer good service. Pools are beautiful and well maintained. Entertainment is fine but nothing extraordinary. Most was similar to last year. Rooms are nice and well maintained. Was a nice quiet week away!!

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Great Resort and Services!

Almost everything was fabulous! Our concierge was the bomb! Thank you Diego! The food and services were all great, the waves were high which caused somewhat poor beach conditions but overall still really good at the lazy river and the pool bar! I would recommend it to others!

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort

Well maintained buildings and grounds. Rooms large and well appointed. Food was good with a wide variety of choice. With four pools, beaches and lazy river you never lack in something to do. Staff was friendly and very attentive. The wedding, the reason for our visit was excellent. It had been well planned. The ceremony and dinner were very good.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Spectacular!

What a beautiful resort. The staff was all so friendly and the resort was in pristine condition. Loved the food, especially the Brazilian restaurant. The beach had really nice sand and a section with hammocks. My favorite part was wondering down the jungle like paths. Even saw monkeys!

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: A week we’ll never forget!

This was our second time at this resort. We booked this time for our wedding with family and friends and had an absolutely amazing time. Top notch staff and service! The staff are always going out of their way to make sure you have everything you need, but more than that.. that you’re having fun. Beautiful resort! Great food!

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: I love this resort

Service, food, accommodations, pools... all were great! I will freely admit that I am a very fussy traveller. I figure I pay a lot to travel and have been travelling for 20 years to Mexico. This is the only resort that I have returned to.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Very nice vacation

The stay at the Sian Ka’an was overall very nice. The food selection and quality was fabulous from both the buffets and most of the a la carte’s. The staff, to a person, were very friendly and helpful and although the facilities were just fine, I wouldn’t call it 5 star. There was significant amounts of paint peeling off the ceiling in the washroom. The couch in the room was so sacked out you couldn’t sit on it, which only left the bed to sit on and the stairway leading up to our room  [... read more]had the same trash and dead beetles littered on it until it was finally swept on the sixth day. The coffee machine at the nearby pool bar often didn’t work and if this was a true 5 star should have been replaced and the pool was full of debris and in need of a good cleaning. Having said all of this, it was still a nice vacation and I would recommend this hotel chain to others.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Third visit to Barcelo Maya Colonial

This was our third time staying here and we continue to enjoy everything about the resort. The rooms are clean and spacious. There are so many chairs on the beach and around the pools to choose from. The beaches are very clean and beautiful to walk along. We enjoyed all of the restaurants also. We had a premium package so we had dinner every night for 2 weeks in all of the restaurants. We enjoyed using the spa and gym as they were both well equipped and spacious.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Wonderful resort = Fabulous Vacation!

Absolutely fabulous vacation! Resort was wonderful. Room was fabulous with Jacuzzi and private balcony. Grounds, rooms and facility were very clean. Food was delicious - never had a bad meal and the drinks were never ending! Entertainment was great. Getting around was easy on the tram system. Can't say enough about the beach - always able to find a chair, we were able to swim with fish and snorkel within our buoyed off section and the staff worked hard at keeping the beach clear of seaweed.  [... read more]There were a few rocks but that is expected in Mexico. Although a little long of a drive from the airport, but it was worth the 75 minute drive once you got there! We will definitely be back!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Excellent vacation

This was our second stay at this resort. We chose to go back because of the amenities - lots of pools, great beach, great restaurant choices and wonderful food selection/quality. This stay, we experienced weather that was much more humid than our previous stay - as a result, the rooms smelled a bit musty and everything (clothes, towels, bed linen) always felt damp. This did not hinder our vacation at all - we just happened to notice it. 2 things to consider if booking this resort - 1) week [... read more]end concerts: the resort occasionally hosts concerts; these run Thurs-Sun (from what we could tell) and can be found on their website or through a Google search; the hotel fills up with concert goers around the weekend and you can hear the concerts quite clearly in your room well past midnight; our stay straddled 2 such concerts; it did not hinder our enjoyment of the resort at all, but our last night had rowdy hotel guests/concert goers staying in the room below us who partied loudly til the wee hours of the morning; when selecting dates if you think that might affect your vacation, try selecting alternate dates; 2) specialty dining: the restaurant selection is good and the food is great; their system for booking and accommodating guests is somewhat frustrating - we booked the restaurants we wanted on the first day we arrived and were given some very late (8:30, 9:30) dining times; what is frustrating about that is when we presented to the restaurants, even at our other earlier times (6:30, 7:00) the restaurants were half empty and remained that way during our meals; we would have loved some earlier times, and it seems as though we could have been accommodated (space wise) but for some reason, they only book their restaurants to half capacity (it was like this our previous stay as well); again, it did not hinder our enjoyment, it was something that we just had to work around. All in all, we would very much like to stay here again - it is a great vacation destination for our group and what we look for in a vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Deceptive Advertising

The main reason we chose this resort was the promise is 12 alacart restaurants. Within moments of checking in we went to the consierg to make dinner reservations. Four of our most desirable choices were completely unavailable. Most of the remaining choices were only available at 9:30 pm. We felt completely mislead by advertising.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing as always

The grounds were great and service as always. Maid service was lacking this year and replenishment of items to our room and we are not difficult people just nice to have a coffee in the morning, Akumel is where we tend to spend all our time as it's not so quiet. Food as always is very nice and they are so attentive. We always get the penthouse suite for the tub but it didn't work well the jets didn't so we just didn't use it as much as we have in the pass. Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great experience

This resort is beautiful with lots to do and see. Great pools for families and adults only. Good food and great sleeps in comfy beds. Our daughter loved the kids club and so did we as we got to have some kid-free time to explore and relax.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Simply beautiful!

This is a beautiful grand resort. Family friendly but also lots of space for adults to truly enjoy a relaxing vacation away from the chaos. The grounds were impressive, rooms comfortable and clean and the staff (everywhere) welcoming and friendly. Air Transat staff were fantastic from the beginning to the end.

Paradisus Playa Del Carmen Roulette: Awesome vacation!

Our week away at the Paradisus Playa del Carmen was great. I would not book another Roulette vacation not knowing which resort we would end up at. Personally in my opinion it was determined we were staying on the family side right away. There were many a children & were not a disruption at all but would have preferred the ADULT side. We were the only 2 guests checking in at that time. Other than these issues and they did not tuin our holiday, we had a great trip. The food at all the ala cartes were top notch. The food & the drinks at the grill on the beach were yummy also. The beach along this stretch is not the best having lots of seaweed this year which is a problem in the Caribbean. The staff at the resort did their best daily to clean up the seaweed. All in all, we enjoyed our holiday but not long enough. This resort comes highly recommemded as well as flying out of Hamilton Airport. Air Transat flight was perfect having NO delays both ways. Cheers 🌴😊

Riu Yucatan: Good resort

Nice vacation at Riu Yucatan. Very close to Playa Del Carmen and other activities. Nice food but a bit crowdy and 'cafeteria like' eating areas. Comfortable and clean room. Very nice beach. We went there in February and the water was cold.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Fantastic resort

My husband and I stayed at Ocean Coral and Turquesa for 5 nights in a privilege suite. This is an excellent resort and we greatly enjoyed our stay there. The beach at the resort was beautiful. Our privilege suite was lovely and clean and, most importantly to me, the king size bed was extremely comfortable. There was a jacuzzi tub on our patio too. Another highlight of this resort is the food - the quality of the food is good and there are many options/restaurants to choose from. The only restaur [... read more]ant that i tried that i didn't enjoy was the mexican one oddly enough, which is a shame since i love mexican food and was in mexico. Fortunately you can get good guacomola and tortilla chips at the dining hall. While i enjoyed all the other restaurants there, the highlight for me was the japanese place where the chefs cook in front of you and entertain. Also with the privilege package you get access to a lovely lounge with tasty apps. If you like cats or iguanas this is also the place for you are as they are in abundance at this resort. The wifi at the resort is free and good. There are 3 pools at this resort, one for privilege only guests with a relaxation vibe, one party vibe pool with music and a pool bar, and another pool for family - so this resort seems to have a little something for everyone. For us, we were looking for a romantic, classy place with a relaxing atmosphere and OCT privilege suite fit the bill. Also as a privilege guest you get free access to the hydrotherapy spa at the resort, which has showers, steam room, big sauna, cool water pool with jets and hot tub. Very nice spa facilities except for the change room which is very small, not much privacy and the showers are messed up. You can't open the shower doors very much since they bang into the shower head. I was only able to squeeze into the tiny crack because i am a small build and it was still a tight squeeze. The gym is pretty small and dismal, but it is better than nothing and everything else at this resort is so on point. Loved this place and would go back!!
