Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great location
excellent beach and pool area, lobby, bars and restaurants were good, food in the buffet restaurant was ok, a little more variety would be nice, personnel and service was very good, the one thing which needs help was our room (2049), everything in there was old, shower was terrible and the coffeemaker has not worked in a long time. Sol/Melia should spend a little to update the place
Paradisus Varadero: Luxurious hotel
The food was great. Entertainment was perfect. Staff were very friendly. The rooms were old and in bad shape but we were too busy to think about it. The rooms need painting, the closets were broken, no door to the shawers . Room service and cleaning was good. Mini bar was filled daily
Hotel Camino del Mar: In Need of Renovations!
This hotel is badly in need of renovations like new mattresses, Air Conditioning that works in all the rooms, increase in water pressure for all the rooms, hot water, and newer bathtub/shower stalls. On the positive side; the beach is amazing, the staff are friendly and the food is good!
Melia Jardines del Rey: Don't believe the bad reviews
This resort bends over backwards to give you a great time. The staff is pleasant and they work their butts off to keep you happy. The check in process was a little confusing, having never been south before. Guests were cranky and just wanted to get a drink. Staff worked very hard to get us settled in quickly. The Transat rep gave us the run down the next morning which was very informative. The food was delicious the first few days, then it got boring really fast. There was lots to eat for a ve [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Resort was spotless clean at all times
We found the staff to be very friendly the hotel and grounds was well kept, out room was very nice and well maintained by the staff surprisingly for Cuba the food was good at this hotel all in all lovely hotel and will recommend
Sol Cayo Coco: Great smaller Resort
Sol Cayo Coco is a very nice smaller resort! A little older and the rooms need some updating, are very clean. The resort is easy to get around, with 2 beach areas available the pool is good, but cold. The food is the best we have ever had in Cuba! Fresh fish, shrimp and meats available at grill daily in main buffet. All the usual buffet items. We even had 1/2 a large lobster available. Pizza and hamburgers are available at pool bar all afternoon. Say Hi to Orlando at the pool bar. He is a great g [... read more]
Paradisus Varadero: Great vacation :-)
The Paradisus resort is located on the best, beautiful sand beach and turquoise water in Varadero. It is directly on the beach - others along the peninsula are set further back & accessible only by footpath. A great getaway!!
Tryp Cayo Coco: Tired and understaffed
I love Cuba and enjoyed this resort. The staff are very friendly, however, VERY overworked. We found that there was always a wait for a table - wandering around a half empty dining room with no tables ready ..... The beach was beautiful and the pool areas great. Most rooms were very old and tired, but; you're in Cuba. They have an issue with mold though, which is not acceptable.
Melia Jardines del Rey: Great resort grounds and beach
The resort grounds and buildings were great. You could walk for a very long time on the beach, and there was lots of wildlife (starfish, crabs, birds, the donkey!). Some people complained about the coral, but if you just walk a minute to the right or left of the main entrance of the beach it is sandy to walk in. The pools were good for days when it was very windy at the beach. The room was clean and had a nice layout, I'd bring your own pillow though. There were mosquitos every evening between 5 [... read more]
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Never again!!!
Firstly, I have been to Melia resorts in the past and absolutely loved them. This is NOT one of those resorts. This is the old Trypp resort and is very tired. Needs a lot of work. Our room smelt very musty and was more like a 2.5 star. Very small pool. The employees only speak Spanish and French, no English very hard to communicate. Cockroaches at the buffet, ate at the a la cartes, not too bad. The staff are not helpful very lazy and do not look crisp and professional. I will never return, this [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful Resort.
Very clean, well kept grounds, friendly and helpful staff at all levels of the resort, restaurants & bars offer great service. Wonderful entertainment every afternoon and night. Overall a very nice experience.
Melia Las Americas: Our Best Trip
Everything was absolutely great. We had a wonderful and relaxing time . I would suggest all couples get away and do this vacation once a year . All the stresses of say today life will soon disappear . We are already dreaming about doing it all over again next year .
Hotel Vigia: Never going back again.
Its our 12th time in Cuba, 4th in Cayo Coco and first time at the hotel Sol Cayo Guillermo. Negative points : there is NO customer service, there is no manager (the manager lied and said he was a taxi driver at first, then he didnt new anything about the schedules the hours of operations etc. nothing was well organized NOTHING. We didn't have clean shower towels for 3days in a row, had to call for water bottles everyday, service is extremely slow, they had no beach towels after 1pm, there was mo [... read more]
Zel Cozumel: GREAT stay with family!
Melia, in Cozumel, Mexico was a lovely place to bring the family. The grounds were always well kept, there were many things to do with kids( crafts, activities, dancing, and music in the daytime for kids) The food was o'k. I preferred the a la carte, meals were better hot and prepped well. I did not like that I discovered by day 3 that I had to make reservations for the a la carte places. Buffet selection was ok. Beaches were beautiful, water was great for everyone to swim. But did not realize ho [... read more]
Hotel Camino del Mar: Lovely resort but very outdated
Our recent vacation to this resort is with mixed feelings. The resort is in desperate need of being updated, it must have been amazing 15 years ago but time has really taken it's toll. The service and food are great and it is wonderful that it is small and very easy to get around. It has the most beautiful beach but unfortunately it has a huge problem with sand flees. My husband didn't get any bites but even with spraying I have tons of them. The other problem was the wind. It was so windy that [... read more]
Hotel Camino del Mar: Great for the price!
The beach is one the nicest I've seen, although because of the winds there was a huge amount of kelp swept in from the ocean. I had not seen this in previous years there. Our experience with the staff was totally positive. Our two complaints with the room were immediately corrected the next morning. The dining room staff were incredible. The mattresses were not the best but ok. The early evening entertainment was very good and they had an incredible guitarist, Daniel. Food was ok. There was lots [... read more]
Paradisus Varadero: Disappointing
We met our "rep" and the first words he said were "I have bad news for you the resort is overbooked" one day spent negotiating to get a room there. The first 24 precious hours of vacation taken away from us. Not. Acceptable
Paradisus Punta Cana: Amazing Time
Had a fabulous time and would definitely go back. Upon our arrival we were welcomed with a cold drink and towel. Check-in was fast and we were off to our room in no time. Since we arrived late in the afternoon we didn’t have time to enjoy the pool, but we made up for it for the rest of our 1 week stay. The rooms are broken down into 2 level buildings with 4 rooms per floor. We stayed on the first floor near the pool. The bathroom has a large double shower. We did have a problem with the water [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Largo: It's about the beach and the staff...
Fabulous beach, tho fun waves will be too much for smaller children. Lots of chairs, palapas & portable umbrellas. Lots of opportunity for walking. Fabulous staff, too. But the resort is somewhat dated... "quaint"...& 5 mins from airport.
Melia Jardines del Rey: New resort which needs to work out many kinks
Nice complex but food areas not to par for 2,000 plus guests as follows: 1) long waits at breakfast, buffet rooms too small, raw bacon 2) nice people but they need more staff 3) 24 hour snack bar waits way too long & not always open 4) awful rocky/coral beach but nice clear water 5) quite a few mosquitos; they need to spray the area to get rid of them 6) bad odor going to beach bar 7) good water pressure shower with hot water
