Hotel Camino del Mar: Quaint and Quiet- Just what I needed

This resort is quiet and good to relax and enjoy the weather, beach and pool areas. Food is good and property is well groomed. The public areas and our room was clean and the water was hot. It's a good resort for adults which worked for us. If you have kids I don't think much to do other than the beach and pool, not a lot for kids to do.

Sol Cayo Coco: Great Resort! With a need for improvement.

Great all around but had to upgrade my room and even then there was very poor water pressure, flat pillows. A $1900 turned into a $2100 trip very quickly with upgrade. Still enjoyed good service and beautiful beaches!

Hotel Vigia: Amazing it's still in business

A very misleading brochure for this resort. It said 24 hour snack bar, not so, no food available after 10 pm and nothing before 7:30 am. It was our 3rd year in a row and our last Im sure. This resort seems ok for folks with young children or seniors that don't expect too much.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Relaxing winter getaway

This was our second stay at the Pestana in Cayo Coco. The hotel and grounds are in good condition. Staff were all quite friendly and accommodating. Pool, rooms, restaurants were all clean and neat. Spent most of our time at the beach which is really nice and you can walk kilometers in either direction! Lots of food options all day long. If you are looking for a family friendly, slower paced holiday (* not much night life) than this is a good choice.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Ok resort

Large resort with over 1000 rooms. Fairly well layed out. Rooms were spacious and well designed. Grounds well maintained. New resort so growth of plants still young. Buildings very modern looking, prefer something less so with more character. Food I would give a 4 out of 10. Vegetables very over cooked and mushy. Fairly good salad selection most days. Breakfast definitely best meal of the day. Limited selection in the 24 hour Cafe, food never hot. Service very slow. Beach very virally and almost [... read more] impossible to enjoy unless you have water shoes. A little disappointing. Always able to get chairs at the beach. Bar waiters were pretty good, going up and down the beach taking orders. 3rd time in Cayo Coco where the weather has not been great. Probably won't return to this part of the island.

Hotel Vigia: Pretty nice, but not great.

The beach is beautiful, but overall the resort needs some maintenance/repair. I think why we were disappointed was because we went to visit the Sol Cayo Coco for part of a day and it's so much nicer and I recall the price was about the same as the Cayo Guillermo. I wish we had of booked there instead.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Large resort

Too big for us, trouble walking around, waited sometimes very long for golf cart to pick us up, food not hot, not good at all, al la carte restaurant us ok, bistro was the best. Front desk not helpful at all, we certainly fended for ourselves all week, not willing to help when we needed a ride or help to the beach. We tipped the cart drivers a lot and they were the best they could be. Third night in tipped the housekeeper 5 Passos then got water and coffee left for us, but until we tipped. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Just OK

The Resort was very nice. The staff were great but not enough staff on the bars in the evening. We were given an upgrade on our room without asking for it. There were 12 of us all together. The beach was very crowded. You were on top of each other. The pool was very crowded also. Wasn't enough chairs there either. People were claiming chairs in the morning around the pool and leaving them vacant all day. The fish on the beach was great and the poutine was great at the snack bar. The food in the  [... read more]buffet on the steam table was cold all the time. I noticed that the food being carried by the staff for the steam table was carried with bare hands. So you knew it was cold. if it was hot they would have to use pot holders. Very disappointing.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great vacation

We could not find one reason to complain - everything was perfect: accommodations, service, food and of course THE BEACH !!! There was always something to do, we did snorkeling around the pier : young corals forming, tropical fish. We walked for hours, always busy and amazed. The grounds are kept very well, everything blooming, we found little mimosa plants growing among the grass ! We would love come back to the resort any time and hopefully we will.

Hotel Vigia: Great staff but needs a facelift

This hotel is a bit dated but they seem to be doing renovations and redoing the grounds. The staff are excellent and they really go the extra mile for you. Food is good for Cuba and it's not a very busy busy resort because it's a bit smaller. The beach is beautiful and on a calm day you can walk out for hundreds of feet in warm shallow water.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great Vacation

Had a great, relaxing vacation. By Cuban standards, I would say this was the best resort of the three I have stayed at in Cuba. Food was good, beach was amazing and the service was wonderful. There was not much in the way of excursions in this area but I was there to relax!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Just ok Last Memories we will go to

The staff we're very good...grounds clean, enough lighting at night...rooms dated ,some mould in showers. some issues with water off for a few hours, showers would run hot and cold...beach was not bad some rocks getting in and roots in the sand.. the food left much to be desired . to much salt. food quality could have been better. .. missing food signs no idea what your eating...all in all Memories Flamenco not worth the money

Hotel Camino del Mar: Melia Where?

Trip changes ta the last minute by the wonderful people at Transat. No problem with that considering the Melia CG were having air conditioning issues (AKA AC not working so well). Melia Garden Del Rey was a suitable replacement thyough Transat offered few options.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice Resort

Large Resort, Very New and Clean. Staff very Friendly! Beach is Beautiful but does have some rocky sections. Lots of Aquatic Life Crabs, Starfish, Sea Snails etc. Bring Water shoes! Lots of Shade available at the beach. Most Staff spoke good English. The resort had a kids show and adult show every night, as well as various musical acts in the afternoons. The resort is not close to any town. Closest town Maron is 45 minutes away, So most excursions are full day trips. Dolphinarium is 20 Minutes b [... read more]y Bus. Overall had a great time and no one got sick!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Grounds and layout of resor very clean and groomed

the lock up system did not work while my girl friends travel bag was broken into and her Blanket, sweater, hat and name plate was stolen. This area requires some serious upgrading. Other than this situation very pleased with the tresort in general.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Couldn't ask for a better resort.

Had an amazing stay at Memories Caribe, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, pool was refreshing and the food was very tasty. I have zero complaints about my stay at this resort. Will definitely refer to friends to try it out.

Hotel Mojito: Good resort!

We actually stayed at Sol Cayo Coco! Are room was clean but basic, no bugs! The food was actually good lots of variety! The grounds was well kept with lovely landscaping. Best of all there was two beaches that we could go too. Need improvement in nightly entertainment.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Don't believe the bad reviews

We were there from Feb 16th to Mar 1st. We loved the resort, the shows were great,rooms were big and nice. The buffet food was good by Cuban standards. As for the a la cartes, we liked the Italian, the Bistro and the Aqua. At the Fuego, we all chose the lamb and it was so tough we could not eat it and it was cold. The rest of the meal was very good and the service in these 3 restaurants was excellent. The one we did not have a good experience at was the Asian, to start they offered sushi but, to [... read more]ld us they did not serve it, the soup was cold and tasteless, main entres 2 out what we ordered were not available white wine was warm and we all ordered the same thing for dessert and we all got something totally different without even an apology when we told them. Service was terrible. The beach was a big disappointment, even though we had read the reviews and brought water shoes, I did not expect it to be as bad as it was. Yes you could go to either side a few hundred yards, but my sister has a back problem and found it hard to walk in the sand to get to the nice water. Pools were beautiful, but I go for the sand and the ocean and this was a disappointment Sand Fleas were terrible as were the mosquitos. We brought Watkins with 30% deet and it worked if you remembered to put it on, it even helped with the itching. I had a reaction to a mosquito bite and had to go to the doctor which I have to say was much easier than seeing one in Canada. I find the exchange to CUC is ridiculous, they say it is worth more than even US money and the Euro, which is totally absurd as you can only use it in CUBA!! If they fixed the beach, which they say they will, and if they start spraying for mosquitos also start raking the sand on the beach for the sand fleas. I would go back, but for me this was a real downer. I should say that my hubby did not get one bite from anything, and he didn't use Watkins. The rest of us were driven crazy lol. I would recommend this resort but with a warning for the above My rating for the pools is a 5 but for the beach it will be a 3

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: very enjoyable family vacation

Went to this resort Feb 20-27, 2016 with my husband and teen daughter. Had a fabulous week. The beach is absolutely stunning so not surprising we spent every day there. The pool was nice but same issue with people saving chairs with their beach towels all day and not letting others enjoy the area even if they were gone most of the time (so selfish)...however, we did find chairs for the brief couple of times we sat by the pool (thank you to those with social etiquette). The staff at this resort w [... read more]ere friendly and caring and really go out of their way to make sure you're stay is comfortable. I especially would like to thank Janeles (not sure of spelling) in public relations at the hotel, she helped make our stay memorable and checked in with us often to make sure we had everything we needed. Our room was clean and comfortable (had a junior suite alfresco) and we didn't request new towels every day but when we wanted them changed, the maid would do so. Certain times of the day our shower was without hot water but we just laughed about it when it happened. We enjoyed the egg omelettes every morning as well as the pasta and stir fry areas of the buffet over lunch and dinner (the chef is fantastic and will take special care of you if you provide tips, which we always do for good service!). We preferred the buffet to the A la Carte restaurants - mainly because we had more food selection at the buffet and the food was hotter and seemed fresher then plates we were served at the A la Carte. For those wondering, we were all healthy and well all week (but we were selective in food choices - making sure things were cooked through, etc.). The piano bar makes delicious speciality coffees. The snack bar has great fries (bring your own ketchup if that's something you really enjoy with your fries :). The beach pizza was preferred over the one served at the snack bar and we also enjoyed the burgers and hotdogs from the beach vendor. Roy at the beach bars is amazing...such a dedicated and hardworking staff member!! We miss his great sense of humor already and wish him well. We didn't spend much time in the evening going to the shows at their outdoor theatre but others said they enjoyed them. Exchanging Canadian money at the airport was better then waiting to do it at the resort (better exchange rate). We went for a ride via taxi to the little market (the old taxi cars are in need of repair but still a fun experience to ride in) - the market was cute and had lots to look through. Next time we visit Cuba, we plan to be a little more adventurous and go into one of the larger cities though. All in all, we had a lovely time in Cuba. Thank you to all the staff at Memories Caribe!

Hotel Mojito: Great resort!

Great resort! Clean, friendly, and well balanced. Good was really good. Most was cooked in front of you which is awesome! Had lots to do but also had nice places to relax quietly. Very safe. Over all an amazing resort. Definitely recommend it. We are planning a trip with friends again soon!!
