Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Great resort
The beach was great. Food terrific. Very tasty. One of the servers, Eva, in the haddad buffet at breakfast was outstanding. Reallly friendly and always remembered what we wanted . Super friendly and cheerful. She works way too hard.
Room was amazing. Only complaint was that the evening buffet was really busy with kids and coffee was hard to come by.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Nice resort,
The main buildings were very nice and our residential building was very nice.
The grounds were very well kept, awesome beach.
The food was not as good. Cold and tough. The wait staff also was not as good. Very slow and we are still waiting for some things that we ordered at meal time. We were surprised that there was only 4 beers in the mini bar in the room. We don’t drink beer and room service would only bring 2 glasses of wine no liquor

Grand Palladium Colonial: Nothing less of amazing.
From the moment we stepped foot on the resort we were amazed. Beautiful clean lobby, attentive and friendly bell boys who greeted us right away. As we arrived early our room wasn’t ready but we were made to feel right at home by guest services. They explained everything and showed us a map with all activities and restaurants and pools.
The grounds of the resort are also beautiful and clean. There are signs everywhere so you never feel lost. The pools are clean and deep which is a nice chan[... read more]ge from other resorts I have been to! If you are travelling with kids there is always something fun to do with them as well as the kid’s water park. The beach is nice, however I’m not sure if it is just the season were all the coral reefs are shedding but there was a lot of coral shedding along the shore.
Our room was spacious and clean. We had a deluxe room with two queen beds. Everything we needed was in the room. Beds were comfortable the AC works REALLY well. Almost too good we got cold a few nights as our thermostat wouldn’t pick up on temperature correctly and couldn’t be set to a specific temperature.
There was entertainment every night. The colonial show is worth watching the dancers are very talented and put in a lot of dedication to their shows. There is a different theme/party every night of the week. What’s great about them for travelling families is the children are also welcome and included in the shows.
Food was good, very flavorful, we tried 5 of the dinner restaurants - the steakhouse, service was slower later into the night, and the steak all seems to be cooked to “rare†even when medium was requested. Mexican, Thai house and Italian were really good with great option! We went to the Poseidon (restaurant on the beach) desert was great, we had shrimp for starters and while they were good they went great. While it wouldn’t be my first pick again, it is very popular. The breakfast and lunch buffets always had lots of options for everyone. Miriam that works the omelet stand was amazing. Best omelets all week! Everything was labeled so you knew what you were eating! They have a gelato station at one of the bars, nice refreshing treat mod day, great touch! The bar by the beach side always had a tasty snack ready and a light lunch available.
Staff were always friendly, courteous, and helpful! The bartenders are great, always great service with a smile! When relaxing poolside or in the lobby there is usually an attendant walking around offering a cold tasty beverage!
The resort has a total of 4 lobbies, Colonial, Kantaneh, white sands, and TRS. You have access to all lobbies except TRS which is the royal suits; however that didn’t take away from our stay. All lobbies had something different to offer. The parties and colonial show happen in the Colonial lobby every night if you are looking for something a little closer to the entertainment.
We ended our trip with a day at the resort spa. Wow. So beautiful. The pools a clean and stunning. They have a sauna and a steam room, and hydrotherapy pools.
The massage attendants are great and well certified. We booked an 80 minute Zentopia massage and I recommend it! Roberto was my RMT and he did a great job! They have a healthy bar in the spa which offers smoothies, juices, and light snacks; lovely touch!
The resort is about a 45 minute drive from the Cancun airport, the drive is worth it. Being away from the hustle and bustle of Playa was nice. We did take a trip in to Playa for shopping on 5th avenue and found it to be very stressful and overwhelming. The vendors are constantly trying to grab you to pull you into their shop and pressure you to buy their items. It was a neat experience but I would not do that excursion again.
I would recommend this resort and hope to return in the future!
Thank you Grand Palladium Colonial for such a great stay!

Dreams Riviera Cancun: Great vacation at Dreams Riviera Cancun
This resort is one of the better ones that we have stayed at over the years and we have been to many. Food great, service and staff very supportive and friendly. The room (deal of the day room) was comfortable. Only downside was that the buffet restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay, which we sometimes prefer rather than the more formal a-la carte restaurants. Also at times the pool and beach area was rather crowded, but then that is to be expected when travelling during peak sea[... read more]son. We would return to a Dreams resort again.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico: Expect Adventure and Authentic Culture
Just returned from a week at the Hotel Xcaret. The room was magnificent and exceeded our expectations. We had arrived 4 hours late due to flight delays (mechanical issue and de-icing). The gentlemen who checked us in saw our disheveled and tired faces and changed our room to ensure we had a single, king bed. We ended up in a fabulous corner unit with a sprawling outdoor patio and Jacuzzi. The room service, maids, turn down service were all fantastic we always had ample amounts of shampoo, condit[... read more]ioner, stocked fridge, clean, pressed sheets and snack tray full. The food at the beach restaurant was by far the best. We were only able to get into one a la carte restaurant due to everything being booked and it was late at night (9:30) and to be honest, the rib steak at the beach restaurant was far better as it's cooked on a wood fire grill and served with a herb butter. I liked that the condiments were in little bottles and there were no disposable plastic cups like you see in many resorts that end up littering the ocean. The lagoons were really nice until about Saturday when a storm came in overnight and brought with it strange brown plants that covered the lagoons. The staff did their best to rake it out but I imagine if someone arrived and saw that all week it would be a deterrent to swim and would take away from the view. The beach was red flag all week but at least the lagoons were always calm. The kayaking around the site is fun. It's easy to get lost wandering around the resort. The staff are all very friendly and very personable. You will not be harassed by vendors at this resort - we have been to many where this is the case and it takes away from a relaxing vacation.
We have previously visited the Xcaret Park about a decade ago and much has changed. We visited the Xcaret Park twice, the Xenses park and did the Xichen pyramids (long commute but worth it). The Xcaret park cannot be done in 1 day there is just too much to do and see. On the 2nd trip to Xcaret Park we took the little boat that goes around the complex instead of the shuttle. It was nice and we got to see a wild spider monkey on the way back. It just added to the jungle-paradise vibe.
We always felt very safe and the people are honest. We didn't have time to do the Xplor site or Xel-Ha (which we did on a previous trip) so we are definitely going to come back but with the kids next time. Speaking of kids, they have their own section and we checked it out and it was fabulous.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort
When we got there and when we went to come back to the airport, our luggage was left in a common area, the front lobby. This I didn't like as anyone could put something into it. Sure enough, when we got home and unpacking our luggage, I found a big jar of almond cream and honey in the front zippered pocket, which was not ours.
As ours was not the only red coloured suitcase, someone obviously had mistaken it for theirs and stuck their moisturizer into it. This could have been a lot worse if it [... read more]had been something illegal for which we would have been blamed.
Obviously not supportive of this practice, and therefore would not recommend this spot to anyone d/t lack of security of luggage.
We stayed at the Azul Sensatori Cancun for 7 days at the beginning of February. We had such a great time. It's a family resort but we requested a room closer to the adult side and that was what we recieved. We had an oceanview with jacuzzi on the top floor and the view was breathtaking. The room itself was very spacious and clean. The resort is on the smaller side so everything is a quick walk away. The pools are all right outside your room no matter where you stay. The beach is also right[... read more] there and the only negative I can say is that there was alot of seaweed, however the resort can't help that and there were constantly staff cleaning it up. The beach itself is beautiful! Lots of Bali beds and chairs, first come first serve, but not hard to get one. By the pool as well, you do have to play the 'towel game' but you are not allowed to put out towels before 7:00am so it wasn't too bad.
The food was the best we have ever had. Absolutely worth 5 stars...and I would rate higher if I could. The room service menu was fantastic and absolutely delicious. The breakfast, gourmet burger lunch, wood oven pizza place, beach bbq and every restaurant were top notch!! We have never experienced anything like this at an all inclusive before. The food was fantastic!! We were not as impressed with the buffet...it was ok but didn't have much variety, just a typical buffet however there was no need ever to eat there! You didn't need reservations at any of the restaurants and we almost always got seated immediately.
So happy with absolutely everything and hope to back someday!
We love Iberostar Paraiso Beach. This was our fourth trip to the complex; three to paraiso beach and one to paraiso del mar. We have always been pleased, hence our four visits.
We were not impressed by Sunwing airlines. The seats were too tightly packed and they ran out of food on the way down.
Ground crew taking us to our hotel were very efficient.
I would recommend this resort to friends and family. I would also return myself. The location was quiet enough to relax but close enough to the local towns and amenities. The excursions were the highlight of the trip!

Oh Transat was also awesome their service at airport and on plane was tremendous thanks again
A very beautiful, spacious resort shared with 3 other sister hotels. The grounds are lush green and well taken cared by the staff, so many pools to be enjoyed by all ages including a wave pool for the kids. Our bedroom was amazing, the sheer size and we had a shower and tub in our bathroom. The little fridge was restocked daily with bottled water, pop and beer. There is 6 hotel blocks with rooms and each block had its own concierge desk to help visitors with issues. The hotels let guests share t[... read more]heir restaurants, so many choices and the food and service was excellent. There is a good variety of entertainment at the theatre every evening and different activities during the day at the pools and beach. If walking is too tiring for the kids or elderly one can ask the concierge desk to call for a golf cart ride to your destination ljke the shopping center...

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: I won’t go back to the Hard Rock resort
Unfortunately there were quite a few negatives to my 2nd visit to this resort. The first time I loved it and would highly recommend it but when we went back this year we found that they implemented a bunch of changes that took away a lot of the things I liked about it. Last time we didn’t need reservations for the restaurants. This time they had restaurants closed and the others said we would only get in if someone canceled or didn’t show up even though the resort was only half full. The poo[... read more]l used to be heated but now it’s not. Annie at the reception desk was condescending, rude and unhelpful. Don’t expect to get any requests you make at time of booking. The temperature in our room never got higher than 18.5 Celsius and when we mentioned it to the staff, someone came and just set the temperature setting to the max of 32 degrees but even with that, it didn’t go past 18.5. They also got rid of the antipasto bar in the Italien restaurant.
Although there were negatives, I have to give a shout out to: Gabby in the breakfast buffet, Betty the server by the pool and Alejandro the server in the Mexican & Italien restaurants. Their service was top notch and I couldn’t ask for better. It’s unfortunate that management seems to have put customer service as a lower priority than cutting costs. If you asked me last year I would have said I planned on going to this resort every year but it looks like I now have to find a new resort.

Grand Sunset Princess: Something for everyone!
Beautiful, big resort with lots to offer! We enjoyed the great nightly entertainment, the option to either enjoy the pool games or sit at the quiet pool. Rooms were very nice and clean, serviced daily. Buffets had good food although cold at times. Good service throughout the hotel. Beach was not as nice as expected. It was a bit crowded and the water was rough with a rocky bottom - not ideal but we still enjoyed our time there. It was fun to see the monkies by the bridge.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Something for everyone!
Visited Feb 3-10 with family of 4 - with 17 and 19 year olds. Large resort but well laid out (5 resorts in total). Close to beach/pool and restaurants. Pools were nice with swim up bars and fountains. Beach was beautiful with snorkelling available - 1 hour free. Saw many fish and turtles. Many other water sports available as well. Grounds were beautiful and very clean resorts. Buffet restaurants were good - lots of selection. You had a choice of going to 3 a la cartes - they were pretty go[... read more]od - disappointed in the Japanese because we did not get to sit at the chef table. Service was very good all around - the pool bars were a bit slow. They had activities every day if you wanted to join in - aqua fitness, volley ball, water polo, tequila tasting, zumba dancing. Front desk was good - easy to check in and very accommodating. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was a resort mall in between the resorts but it was pricey. There was a bowling alley, arcade room, merry go round carousel and skating pad - all fee for service which was disappointing. There were many water parks for kids which were amazing as well as an 18 hole mini putt course. This location was about an hour from the airport and the transportation took a bit long to organize from the airport. Going back to the airport was no issue. All in all - a very nice spot, beautiful beach, good food and good service. The only regret was wifi was only available at certain times and in 2 locations - either the mall or one of the lobby bars and reception was not that great. Of course you could pay a fee and then I'm sure reception was just fine. But it is vacation time but sometimes business needs to be attended to. I would recommend this to others.

Not a fan of them not heating the pool, not a fan of now requiring reservations, not a fan of rotating closing restaurants, not a fan of the lack of anti pasta bar no longer being in the Italian restaurant. The hotel over all was good. Booking as a group was not good. We were the only ones in our group of 19 that was not in the same hotel as everone else. They were not accommodating when asked to be moved.
