My wife and I went to Sol Rio de Luna y mares last week of January, and found the resort very good, for an older resort they keep the property is very well maintained and picturesque, the beach was great, and the overall service was very good. would go there again if the oportunity came up.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Nice resort, beautiful view
Very nice resort with a beautiful well maintained beach. Like most all-inclusive resorts the buffet gets a little repetitive but the food is pretty good with lots of choices. Staff is very friendly. Some of the entertainment was less than impressive but there were plenty of other things to do.

Paradisus Cancun: Best resort I have been too
The hotel was amazing. Very clean and modern. Food was excellent. And the service was even better. Beaches were beautiful. We did not leave the resort because we only had 4 days so I can't comment on any of the excursions available. Highly recommend though

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Best Resort!!
The administrators have thought of just about everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. And the staff put all the finishing touches!! You can be as secluded as you wish, or be in the midst of entertainment all day long. The choice is always yours!!

Sol Varadero Beach: Poor Resort
. Hotel very old, grounds were dirty, buffet was always cold and the same thing everyday, staff unfriendly. All the pictures on the web are from the newer section but it is not where you end up staying. Services were not good, no beach towels, no toilet paper in public washrooms day after day, no coffee cups had to wait in lines just for a cup.

Melia Las Antillas: Great location
Perfect size resort. Rooms are older but clean plenty of space. Both jacuzzi 's not working properly a little cool. Looks like they are continually doing reconstruction maintenance to the grounds. Elevator on its last legs. Lobby bathrooms were closed most of the week. older clientele nice and quiet. Food was good and staff very friendly and helpful. Not sure it would be good for people with mobility issues.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Resort - Great Food
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food Cuba now offers, great resort close to Varadero. Excellent beach and pools. Book your restaurants early as they tend to fill up, the hilltop restaurant in particular is very good.

Melia Las Dunas: Great Family Holiday
We had a really lovely stay at Melia Las Dunas at the end of January 2016! The resort was beautiful, clean and well laid-out. The staff were professional and friendly. We were open-minded about the food and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection at the buffets and snack bars. The a la carte restaurants we tried were all very good (Asian, Italian and Seafood). The beach was amazing, and there were always sufficient beds by the pool and beach. Resort towels could be exchanged daily[... read more], but FYI, do so early as they would run out before lunch. Our room was clean, however we had to request that our sheets be changed upon arrival, as they were not clean. As disappointing as it was to encounter this problem upon arrival, the issue was dealt with quickly by the hotel staff. We found the double beds too small, and would have much rathered queens. The resort is big, so be prepared to do a lot of walking. We enjoyed a hobie cat ride from the resort beach, and had a great experience with the staff member who took us out (Bucil, i think). The entertainment was excellent, especially the evening shows. Our favourite was the in-house Cuban band! We did an all-day Catamaran tour that included snorkelling, a visit to an island for beach exploration, lunch and a dolphin encounter and show ($99/adult). I would highly recommend this tour as it was one of the highlights of our week! We took a cab to Pueblo La Estrella to do some shopping (5 pesos for the cab ride, each way), and we had a delicious lunch at La Casona, a creole restaurant. We brought many over the counter meds with us, as we were nervous about travelling with our two children, but we didn't need any of it. None of us got sick. There was lots of bottled water available, and they only serve bottled water in the restaurants. Bug spray is a good idea for the evenings. If you go to the beach at sundown, expect to get bitten by the little black flies in the sand. Other than that, the bug situation wasn't too bad (I get concerned at resorts that have no bugs and wildlife at all - we saw many geckos and one garden snake!). We would definitely go back to Melia Las Dunas (we would request bigger beds, though)!!!

Sol Cayo Coco: very nice stay
The hotel was nice. The rooms were clean and spacious. It was quiet at night for sleeping. The staff were all friendly and happy which I feel makes a vacation ( I was at a different resort/Island that was spiffy and new but the staff were terrible and rude beyond comprehension, even the music was angry and intrusive). However here it was laid back and easy listening to live music and the staff were lovely everywhere I went. Pleasant. The soft stone lights that lined the walkway at dusk had an oa[... read more]sis feel, wish I'd taken a picture to post for you.
Yes as others have written a coat of paint would help but the colours they chose are pleasing to the eye, just a fresh up would benefit. I always had hot water and good pressure. The grounds were nicely kept with flowers in the gardens, bathrooms and a sprig on the tables. I had a lovely massage at the small spa.
I liked the lunch dinning room on the water, never too busy, excellent staff there as well, fresh fish everyday for lunch. However they had plenty of other options. I think everyone should have at least one meal there. (more really). The beach is beautiful, lots of chairs and shade for all. If it's a windy day there is another sheltered beach around the bend that is part of the resort and serves drinks there also. They had paddle boats, sail boats to take you out to the reef for snorkeling and feeding the brightly coloured fish.
I heard all the rooms had ocean view but mine did not, one can upgrade while there but each day at 4ish the men would come play soccer shirtless in the late afternoon so I had no need to change my room. My view was fine, Cuban men are very fit;). Enjoy your stay and relax.

Melia Las Dunas: Melia Las Dunas
I selected this hotel on the recommendation of the travel agency as I had stayed at the Melia Santa Maria last year. This one was quite a bit larger too large in fact. There are shuttles but don't seem to be around when one is needed. The first room was too far from amenities but when this was mentioned to front desk we were promptly moved. The room was plain and clean but getting clean towels was a challenge. When thrown in the tub they were hung up again not replaced. No face cloths or bath ma[... read more]ts. Although beach towels were plentiful, which I used to shower with as were cleaner. Next time will bring my own towels. Early in the morning the resort was shrouded in a dark cloud of what seemed to be burning oil or diesel. In this day and age when there is so much hype about nature preservation this was something that needs to be addressed. There is plenty to each in the buffet and enough items to choose from but you have to watch for food undercooked . I never went to the
al acarte but heard the Japanese was good. One guest was complaining as never had hot water all week but not sure they never asked to be moved.
I preferred Melia Santa Maria as easier to get around. The rooms were quaint and the beach nicer as was wider and I think staff friendlier. The drive from airport was long which was ok the first time having never been to Cuba. They can eliminate the tour guide going home as was repeat of what was said when we arrived. Bus toilets are questionable. Also on resort they need to post visible signs DO NOT FLUSH anything in toilets. Many were out of service for this reason.

Zel Cozumel: Very nice
The resort was very nice. It is a must to stay in the tower if you don't have kids. Be very careful of your lougage when you arrive. My cate on got put back in the van and I had to pay and find it my self. Not the hotel nor Sunwing would help me. The hotel would even book me in because I didn't have my password port, it was in my carry on. Other than that this was our 4th time on Cozumel and I would have to say this was the best resort of all
We would definitely go back.

Zel Cozumel: Great resort
The staff made this resort...very helpful and service oriented. We felt like we were at summer camp and enjoyed getting involved in all of the activities. Loved the golf across the street. Pools a little cool, but the sea and beach was beautiful. Loved the garden view room and it was close to everything. Small, intimate resort.

Melia Las Antillas: Review of Melia Las Antillas
We just got back from a 10 day stay at Melia Las Antillas. While the weather was mixed, our stay there was good. The food is very good at this resort, especially the fresh fish bar in the buffet. The beach is beautiful and there are lots of beach chairs. We opted for the concereige service and it was very good. Maylin in the concereige suite was really helpful and really worked to help solve any issues that came up for us. The down sides were that the bar often did not have all of the brands and[... read more] items that were promised. The other issue was that our Sunwing transfer to the airport did not show up and we had to take a taxi to the airport, which cost us about $50 Canadian.
