Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Worst Resort

⭐️⭐️ (1–2 Star Review) Royalton Riviera Cancun – Extremely Disappointing Experience This was our first time booking a 10-day all-inclusive stay, and unfortunately it was the worst vacation experience we have ever had. Our trip started poorly even before arriving. Our flight from Toronto was delayed four hours due to maintenance. We were given $15 meal vouchers for our party of five (two rooms), but three of the vouchers did not work at Toronto Pearson Airport. I had to repeatedly stand in [... read more] line at Guest Services to have them reissued, only for them to fail again. This was extremely embarrassing and stressful, especially since my children were hungry and exhausted. I ultimately had to pay out of pocket. When we finally arrived at the resort late at night, the experience did not improve. • Long check-in lines • No welcome drinks • No bell service • No assistance with luggage • No one showed us to our rooms The customer service was very poor. The most serious issue happened the day after arrival. After dining at the ZEN restaurant, I became extremely nauseous and dizzy. Later that night, I woke up to vomit in the hallway, slipped, and hit the back of my head hard, losing consciousness. I was disoriented and could not recognize my surroundings or family for several minutes. My husband had to lift me and put me back into bed. The hotel’s emergency response was slow and careless. • The doctor and manager took a long time to arrive • No ice was provided for my head • No urgency or compassion was shown Eventually, an ambulance took me to the hospital. At the hospital, instead of immediate care, the focus was repeatedly on how much I had to pay before tests could begin. After testing, there was very little explanation or care provided. When I was discharged, we called the hotel multiple times requesting pickup — no one answered. We had to take a taxi back to the resort for $80 USD. When we returned to our room, the vomit on the wall and beside the bed had not been cleaned, even though room service had supposedly been done. Shockingly, five days later, when the hotel manager finally checked on me, the mess was still there. To make matters worse, the hotel manager later came to my room asking me to sign papers in exchange for a Bali bed ($180 value). The paperwork included language stating I would not sue or leave a negative review. I refused to sign. Additional issues during our stay: • Elevators were out of service about 90% of the time • We were on the 4th floor with an elderly parent who has knee pain • Constantly carrying a wagon up and down stairs • Excessive mosquitoes • Overall lack of care and accountability This resort failed in basic customer service, cleanliness, safety, and emergency handling. For a property that markets itself as luxury and all-inclusive, this experience was deeply disappointing and unacceptable. I would not recommend Royalton Riviera Cancun to families or anyone expecting proper care, safety, and hospitality.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Terrible Resort

The room was disgusting. Plain whitish plaster walls with no decoration. Balcony was filthy and there are broken roof tiles all over. Third floor with no elevators so three flights of stone stairs to climb. As we are both seniors not very comfortable. Tried to complain to management to get a decent room but no help. We were told to meet with the Sunwing rep in the lobby the day after arrival but no rep was there and the front desk said they never see a rep. We were also not told that there were  [... read more]three levels of guests and we were the lowest so we were not allowed to use certain restaurants and pools. This is by far the worst resort we have ever stayed at in the five times we have visited Mexico. We will never use Sunwing again and this awful place should be removed from your brochures. Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Very nice, clean resort!

This was a very nice resort however could use some organizing, especially for dinner reservations. Food was ok, not fantastic and reservations were very hard to get. Things were provided randomly, we would expect it to be continuous and it never happened again. Pool was nice however cool and one was closed most of our stay. Concierge could be a little more helpful.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort!

e had a wonderful stay at Bahia Akumal and truly enjoyed our time at this resort. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcomed by the staff — everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind throughout our stay. The resort itself was very clean and well maintained, and the food exceeded all of our expectations with plenty of variety and great quality. The only downside of our experience was the dinner reservation system. We were allowed to make reservations 10 days prior to our arriv [... read more]al, but the only available times were 9:00 PM or later. This made it difficult to maintain our routine and get up earlier to make the most of our days. When we asked about earlier dining options, we were told we would have to wait and see if someone cancelled. Given the size of the resort, it felt like there could be more or larger restaurants to better accommodate guests. That said, this was a relatively small issue compared to how much we enjoyed everything else. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the location was ideal. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely recommend Bahia Akumal to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Barcelo Colonial charming family resort

Amazing grounds, we've been to over 10 other resorts and this one scores high with its architecture and natural beauty. We loved it. Most rooms cater to families: 2 queen beds + sofa. We couldn't find a room with a king bed and neither could our friends. The beach is beautiful, wide, clean, white sand, and has lots of palm trees. There was a bit of a shortage of beach chairs as the resort was full, especially on Saturday. Water shoes are needed as there are rocks in the water. Food was excellent [... read more]. Plenty of entertainment venues to chose from as we also had access to adjacent resorts. All in all great value for the price.

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: Improvements needed

Let's start with the positive. Entertainment was great. Shows were good, pool activities were awesome for all of the kiddos. The service was okay. The room bar and the maid service was decent. Leaving a tip would guarantee a fill of supplies. The iguanas, lizards and Mexican racoons are cool to see on site. Cons:There was a wait for almost every restaurant. Most of the food at the buffet was cold (There are toasters to reheat). The pools weren't regularly maintained. I.e. poop in one pool and l [... read more]eaves for half a day in the other. There is no beach, one side is gated off and the other is a little hump of sand. The ocean water was so clustered with seaweed and coral you couldn't see the bottom to walk in it. Building 5 has septic issues. If you can steer clear of that you will avoid septic smell.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Disappointed ☹️

This was our second time to this resort. We returned because our first trip here in 2022 was amazing. However things have gone terribly downhill. First our bed was so uncomfortable, and our pillows were horrendous! We ended putting our pillow cases on the decorative pillows and using them. The food was also not good! Which blows my mind as dreams hotels are usually stellar, but I this is the first stay at one since Hyatt took over. The swimming area was also disappointing, the sand has washed out of the manmade area and it is now shallow and sharp rock bottomed. I love spending time in the water - not here.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Excellent Resort for families with young children.

Check in and check out process absolutely atrocious. Not enough staff to handle the amount of people. Rooms were only adequate with no hot water. Food was very good in the buffet. Forget about À la cart unless you stay up till 12pm to try and book for the next day. This resort is not for seniors unless you have your grandchildren with you,a tremendous amount of walking involved. The grounds at this resort were well maintained the staff were very busy and friendlly we ate at the Japanese ala carte and the food was very good the buffet food was okay good as can be at any resort we were not allowed to go to any of the other resorts to enjoy their amenities unless we paid twenty dollars a day at other resorts in the area we could enjoy their amenities for free this resort only had one big pool years ago you could swim in any of the other pools at the other resor [... read more]ts on this property we were disapointed with the beach area the beach area assigned to Coba was kind of small with over crowded beach chairs our room was okay but the bathroom needs to be refurbished low water pressure in the sink and shower when taking a shower, the water goes everywhere as the shower doors are not long enough to hold back the shower spray the floor mat gets very wet and water gets on the floor all round the shower

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Nice place to visit….

This was our second visit. We do not usually visit a resort twice, but our first visit last year was so wonderful, we couldn’t wait to return! Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great family section

We loved family section although it was just my husband and I, we were able to use the entire resort, great restaurants, coffee shop, lounges and pools, will certainly return. We were there 14 days Service was great, carts were always available to get to one section to another

Grand Oasis Riviera: Amazing resort!

Awesome resort! We had a fantastic time at this resort! From the minute we arrived until we left, we were treated with much regard, kindness and helpfulness by all the staff there. Shout out to Evelyn (I'm bad with names, but I'm pretty sure that's her name) at the reception desk - so helpful and pleasant, as were all of the reception staff! Shout out to Victor and to Rose at the restaurant reception desk. No reservations required for these restaurants and very little to no wait times to get in the a la carte. The buffet was also very good morning, noon and night. Don't forget to tip these amazing hard working people. The beach was beautiful every day - the last 2 days lots of seaweed came in - it was too overwhelming for the maintenance staff to deal with. The public washrooms were always clean - which I am sure is quite the fear given the amount of people in and out of them all day! We loved our room - so spacious and roomy! The swim up pool at the foot of our patio was the icing on the cake! Will return next year❤️❤️

The Sens Riviera: good resort

-grounds, site, buildings, nice and clean,recently renovated. -good variety of food and buffet, and specialty restaurants. Only the japanese restaurant was disappointing, as it was on a patio outside of the buffet area, but, food was good. -nice coffee and snack shop, poolside snacks was good. -entertainment was only 2 nights a week, all others were karioke nights. -room air conditioners were strange, preset to 16.5 degrees, no matter what you set the thermostat at. Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya: Hotel Zilara Riviera Maya

Lawrence from Trip Central was fabulous and found us a lovely vacation package that met all our needs. This older but well kept hotel delivered exemplary customer service throughout the entire duration of our stay. Food was excellent, rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Club service insured we had dinner reservations and a poolside chair ready for us every single day. The beach was cleaned constantly to minimize sea grass. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Perfect all Inclusive

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. The resort is spotless and well maintained. The staff was open and responsive to any need or accommodation we requested. The SPA and GYM/ Pickleball Courts are busy and top notch. The food and restaurant experiences were beyond expectations.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great resort

The hotel and grounds were immaculate, staff were friendly, food was good and lots of selection of drinks. The beach was disappointing, almost impossible to get a chair unless you were willing to pay for an upgrade, and a long walk to get there.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Grand Oasis Tulum Mexico

Our check in was a little disturbing ...when we found out our room was on the 3 floor with 25 steps up.. We were shocked..this hotel does not have elevators..My travel partner freaked when she realized it and directly when to the Lobby to explain .. She is 65 years old and I am 72..omg...They finally with some discussion put us on the 2'd floor..12 steps up..what else could we do?? Also very surprised to learn the Sewer Tax was 139.00 dollars American not the very small amount we were told.  [... read more] The Room Was absolutely beautiful, great beds, lots of good soft pillows.. immaculate.. The food was amazing, lots of fresh fruit, every kind of meat, shrimp, on & on... Fresh Salad bar with great variety. Has a specially Coffee shop which was great. The Beach was unkept, lots of garbage around..hardly any beach lounges.. The Pools around the Hotel were nice but very cold..not many people used them. Complained they were so cold. Snorkeling was a 4 out of 10..Very rocky, very cloudy, Would not recommend this for anyone that wants to snorkel. No night entertainment..when it gets dark the day is done. People working their were very nice. The 1hour & 30 was a long way to and from the airport, bumpy, but the Transfer Bus was very nice.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Beautiful Resort

Beautiful resort with wonderful staff other than the reservation desk staff which need to work on their skills with dealing with the public and solving issues. Our week started off on the wrong foot with check in however we enjoyed our wonderful bartender, Panda. The food at the restaurants was amazing and the housekeeping/ grounds keepers were always busy keeping the resort immaculate. I would definitely return to this resort.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Love the Valentin

Our 6th time here and it’s still exceptional. Great food; so much to chose from! Friendly staff, lots to do if you want and quiet space if you want that too. Love the lush gardens and the fact you can walk Around and not see the buildings. Love the day time entertainment crew. The shows are ok at night.
