Club Kawama: We'd go again, but.....
Club Kawama is a really nice resort .. clean, great layout, nice restaurant and bar staff and chamber maids... excellent food, great entertainment!.... receptionists are a little off putting and reluctant to help, but in the end all was well. We were put in a room with 2 single beds and had a hard time changing to a room for a couple. We would go back again but only if we could book a superior room. It would have made a much better experience with an ocean view and a balcony.
Starfish Cayo Largo: We Loved it !!!
RETURNING to the pelicano hotel after 23 years (march 94) was quite a surprise.... The service given by any of the staffers was excellent... very courteous especially at the restaurant also in any of the hotel sections) The food was surprisingly good with many choices (Compared to other hotels i have been in ciuba) , Very clean rooms Out of about 30 beaches i have spent time on This was the most wonderfull beach i have been so far...
Roc Barlovento: Friendly resort
1st time at this resort. Food is good, BBQ at lunch near the beach is good & fun. Bacon every morning, fries at lunch & diner, always a choice of fish, pork, chicken & boeuf, vegetables include carrots, peas, potatoes, good dessert... The pasta cook is a show to watch when he flips the sauce & pasta in the buffet area. Staff is friendly (not so at Reception desk) but you have to talk with them don't be shy to ask. Lots of French speaking people from Quebec. Watch your beach towel some were [... read more]
Club Kawama: Home Away from Home 😄
This was our 5th trip to Club Kawama. As soon as we step off the bus we are treated like family. We were able to get the room we requested. Over the years I have seen many improvements. It's a great location. Minutes to downtown. We were there from April 5 to April 13 and I am already planning my next trip to Club Kawama
Starfish Cayo Largo: Just What the Doctor Ordered
I stayed at the Hotel Pelicano last week and I didn't want to leave! The hotel is not the fanciest and the food is not the greatest but the beach is spectacular and the staff are wonderful. Everyone was very welcoming and attentive to my needs, which was what I was hoping for since I was travelling alone. There is an awesome 7-piece band that plays every day at the beach restaurant- the flute player in particular is talented beyond words. My room was comfortable and Letitia the maid did a great [... read more]
Roc Barlovento: Varadero
The good outweighed the bad. Food was very good and a large variety, the animators extremely pleasant and fun. A show every night. Close to the airport I consider this a plus. Beach nicest I've been to in Cuba. Negative is the mal-function in my room. Fridge, dim lights, no lights in certain areas to get to my room, no balcony, no decent view. No complimentary water battle asked 3 times.
Roc Barlovento: Amazing Food ,Service and View
The hotel was under renovation but the staff were able to keep the hotel clean and the noise to a minimum. The housekeeping staff were very efficient, friendly and made me feel very welcomed. The front desk staff were excellent and knowledgeable about different venues and shops. Don't believe every thing you hear about the food in Cuba . We enjoyed a variety of foods all seasoned to perfection. I would definitely stay at the Roc Barlovento again and as a bonus the guest they have come from all [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: very tired looking resort
We were at this resort 5 times in the past, although it was 10 years ago, reception area clean, check-in was quick, staff very efficient with what they have to work with. First night the room was dirty, smelly, holes in the wall, you could open the door even if locked. We requested to be changed and they did the next day. Bungalow was fine, bed comfortable but air conditioner did not cool the room and we had set it at 15 degrees, did not help. Fridge even on high did not cool our water or so [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Very good resort
Everything is at it best. Better than in Florida with 3 times more expensive resorts than this one. Beech is also good.Only for swimming you need to go far way because the shallow area is over 100m.
Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Amazing Resort
There is nothing to complain about. Everything was perfect.Small quiet resort great for our needs. After a dozen holidays to Cuba we have now found our perfect home away from home. This was our second visit to this resort & hope to return again. We were in the Adults only section this year. Loved it & will request this again next year.
Starfish Cayo Largo: Great time at this resort!
This was our fourth time to Cayo Largo, first time in Pelicano. Comparing to the other resorts, I would say best and happiest staff, very relaxed atmosphere, good food and lots of options, the best beach, clean grounds, nice pool (no pool bar).
Starfish Cayo Largo: Hotel Pelicano - Value for the money. Excellent beach .
We stayed at the resort in April 2017. Great value for the Money. I would recommend the resort. Friendly staff, good food, I will definitely return. Please note: that Cayo Largo seems to be "the" destination for nudists. It didn't bother me that there were many nude people on the beach, however I heard from several fellow guests with children that had they known about the nudists they would have chosen a different location for their family vacation...
Roc Barlovento: Amazing Friendly Resort
Had the best trip again to this cozy resort. Rooms are clean, friendly staff, grounds were always clean. Great buffet with good variety of food, and bbq everyday was amazing. The beach is always beautiful and the new beach bar is a plus.
Club Kawama: First and last time in Club Kawama, Varadero
The hotel was very run down but our second room was clean although one of three lights was not working; fridge not working; and pillows were as flat as worn folded towels. We had paid for a Superior room but were first assigned a room was not in that category. On 3rd day got a new room since they lost the request made on first day. We only ever saw one gardener or outside maintenance worker...too much property to look after...untidy grounds and garbage..Even pool in mornings was littered with [... read more]
Roc Barlovento: Beautiful Resort very friendly and best beach ever.
This is an older resort, small but very friendly, and clean. Grounds were always clean, and there were many upgrades done since my last visit. Rooms are clean, and if any problems arises, they are very quick to fix the problem. Food was good, and a bbq every day was awesome. Beach, as always beautiful, and clean. The new beach bar is a beautiful addition. The resort is located within walking distance to market and bank/banking machine, and good restaurants. Most of all, being a repeat c [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Largo: Great value for the money
A 3.5 star hotel with 5 star personnel. All the employees work with a smile and are happy to serve you. The buffet was fantastic, especially the pasta bar at diner time and the pancakes in the morning. The lobby bar has great cappuccinos and Spanish coffees. We were there in late March so the grounds were dry and everything was clean. Our room was in good shape, everything worked. The beach was in good shape too. A bit windy so the waves were quite large with a couple of days of red flags [... read more]
Starfish Cayo Largo: Dissappointed
Beach narrow and only two access points, but flour soft sand, ocean was un swimmable as it was to rough and pool had an algae problem that lasted all week. Food is bad even for Cuban standards (we have been to Cuba 12 times so we know of what we speak) if you enjoy hot dogs prepared in 3 different shapes to fill up room on the buffet then you will love it! thank goodness for deep fried frozen fries. Even the fish was cooked raw or over done to the point of it being so dry it was inedible, if you [... read more]
Hotel Villa Cuba: To "Be Lieve" or to "Be Alive"
Turns out it's neither. Cuba has chosen to Be Live as anything else would simply be fake. This is a simple yet huge resort. The hotel rooms are a lot nicer than the villas so Be Smart when booking. You will get variety with food but Be Aware it only applies to the location of the food. Be Generous with the staff and you will get more bang for your buck. Be tactful when walking over to the beach mini mines are abound. Be thoughtful and don't feed the cats. Be patient as things run on Cuba ti [... read more]
Club Kawama: Club Kawama
Fantastic pool, accommodations poor ( room had an unpleasant smell, and shabby), food was iffy (actually was sick to stomach on airplane during trip home) (pasta at every meal, food if heated was barely warm, and by the time you got back to the table, it was cold). Staff very friendly, and to tell the truth, the only thing I am missing is the pool. Would not recommend Club Kawama to anyone!!!!
Roc Barlovento: Our Favourite Resort
Have been to Cuba over 30 times and have stayed at Roc Barlovento many times We find this hotel very clean, great staff and the better meals of many I have stayed in over the years in Varadaro. Fruit selection; coconut ice cream; baked goods and breads .Made amazing sub sandwiches for lunch with their tasty cheeses and cold cut selections. Have stayed at the 5 star newer resorts at the end of Varadaro but prefer the closeness of the beach.flea markets; restaurants; fishing etc. with this re [... read more]
