Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Fantastic staff and well run resort.

My first contact at Sunscape was with Fabio De Leon, at the reception desk. Fabio was pleasant, courteous and efficient. He placed me in what I would consider a perfect room that was quiet and had a wonderful view. The rooms, including all the dining rooms, and washrooms were always immaculate. Hats off to their supervisors and to the staff, some of whom I will mention by name - Mommajuana, Tiger, Sexy Monki, Pokemon, King Kong, Chocolate, Super Jordan, Spaghetti, Willie Wonka as well as other staff whose names I am not as familiar with. Overall, I had a fantastic stay at Sunscape Bavaro Beach.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Amazing resort with amazing staff.

No complaints at all-rooms we’re nice,lots of hot water. great choice of places to eat with wonderful food.Can’t say enough good things about the staff-always friendly,smiling and accommodating. Very clean resort.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Loved the beach!

This resort was clean and cozy! We loved that the resort was smaller. You got to know the other guests well and you were never far from the beach, restaurants and activities. The beach was amazing! That was our favourite part. It is not a 5 star resort, rooms are dated and food not always up to par. Some of the staff went out of their way to accommodate you but unfortunately most of the staff were not eager to please.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Great family vacation spot

This was our first family vacation to a sunny destination and it was wonderful. The weather was good most days with a bit of rain here and there. The resort staff was amazingly friendly, everything was clean and the food was good. Overall, we were pleased with the vacation and would recommend to our friends. Our only wish was that we were in a spot with higher waves!

Sunscape Splash: Friendly Jamaica

I had the pleasure of visiting this resort during our family vacation this year. I am not new to Jamaica as I have been many times, however this was a first for this resort. I can't say I will go back as I was disappointed with the lack of entertainment both during the day and certainly in the evening. The pools and hot tub shut down by 6 which was disappointing especially as there was nothing for after dinner and into the evening. I would certainly go back to Jamaica , the people are very friendly the weather has always been great and the excursions are bar none.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Good Time resort!

Dining was usually a good experience, food was good always, service was really good, staff were very friendly. Our room was dry, clean, and everything worked once we figured out how to turn on the air conditioning and lights. We came during one of the big storms in March but, we were dry as we were on the third floor and our ceiling did not leak, we were fortunate. The only complaint we have are the vendors on the beach, we did not enjoy our quiet time constantly being interrupted and continually having to say "no thanks, not interested" every ten or twenty minutes. We spent more time by the pool than on the beach because of this. The hotel also were trying to sell their "Vacation club" membership however, once you st through breakfast or lunch and an hour and a half sales pitch, you at least got a $200 gift certificate at their spa which was not bad.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Good Resort for the Price!

We stayed at the Sunscape Bavaro Beach resort from March 12-19th. Although it was March break and there were a lot of teens on the resort, we had an amazing time. The hotel staff were very polite and friendly. Most of them spoke English. The entertainment was excellent, every night there was shows in the theater both for kids and adults. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The only thing that we wished we had in our room was 2 chairs. The safe and the air conditioning worked well which was a bonus because in our past trips we have had issues with both. The a la cartes were good, I recommend the French - great steak. If you are a beach lover- not a great beach. Lots of erosion, geo tubes in the water to help with that problem. We loved the pools so not an issue. However, the one down fall is that they need cabanas for shade. Although big palms gave some shade in some areas..it was hard to escape the sun when you needed to. Overall, a nice clean and friendly resort!

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Sisters

Excellent hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful grounds, well kept. Very comfortable rooms and very clean. Restaurants were fine. Food selection at buffets was good. Too bad there are no areas of shade at the beach or pools.

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Beautiful resort

We just got back Sunday night from a 7 day vacation at the Sunscape Dominican Beach Resort. The resort itself is very lovely and clean with nice clean pools and maintained landscape. I will break down my review in groups; Arrival - approx. 25 mins from airport and well greeted upon arrival with a nice drink and check in was fast and easy, though they pass you off to chat with your concierge and ours happen to be Alberto. A very nice guy, offered us a welcome breakfast for next morning. Though [... read more] I knew what this was all about (timeshare), he assured us it wasn't. We were with another couple and we all decided 90 mins of our time was worth getting a $100 leisure cash coupon each couple to use anywhere in the resort that we liked. Well 1st the 90 mins turned into 3 hrs as they really don't take no for an answer until you somehow have to be a little abrupt and the special welcome breakfast was in the SunClub lounge. All I can say is thank goodness we didn't upgrade to SunClub as the breakfast was not at all an upgrade but a downgrade in my opinion. SunClub - they asked if we wanted to upgrade at time of checking for $40 US per night per room $280, when we said it was too much they reduced it to $250, we still declined. Through the week we realized it definitely was not worth it, the only real perk was the premium drinks but then if you ventured away from the SunClub areas you couldn't get the premium drinks anyway. Rooms - our room was in Bungalow 24 lower level pool view. We had a corner room which was spacious, very clean, nice big king size bed and comfortable, with rain shower step in. We had plenty of big bath towels, hand towels etc. They even provide full size shower gel, shampoo/conditioner and body lotion and the blow drier was great. The room was always cleaned in the morning and our bar fridge was always stocked daily with water, pop and beer. There is ample drawers and closet for clothes. Great location as it was close to everything. Food - the food was for the most part ok but in the buffets it was repetitive. Breakfast is great, the usual egg stations, pancakes and French toast, all kinds of muffins, pasteries, cereals etc. and then your standard items of bacon, ham, scrambled eggs, etc. Plenty of fresh fruit which was my favourite part. They also make smoothies or fresh squeezed juices right there. Lunch you had several options and were good but again repetitive. Dinners in the buffet were good plenty of choices from pasta station, grill with plenty of fish, chicken, pork and beef. but there beef is a bit tough. They had a pizzeria which was pretty good. The al l carte restaurants, well that is a joke cause they advertise "no reservation" but then you have to stand in line approx. 5-5:30 at the restaurant of your choice that evening and reserve a time and seat. In my books that is making reservations. We understand that Chopstix (our favourite) that you needed to reserve since only 10people can sit at each station for one seating. We stood in line for 45 mins for the Italian restaurant, Da Mario, just to be told when we got to the front that they were booked. We complained to management and they managed to get us a table that same night and there were quite a few empty tables in the restaurant. Being Italian the food was so so, wouldn't venture it again. My husband ordered the lamb chops and they were chewy, rubbery. The Olive Branch, was not much better. We went back to Chopstix a 2nd time since that was our favourite by far. We used our $100 LC for a lobster dinner at Le Lago which is an extra charge of $39.99 US/person which includes a full lobster dinner with your choice of wine and dessert. Not worth the $39.99 but since we didn't have to pay it was ok. Coco Café was our go to for coffee. Drinks - the resort advertises "domestic and international drinks", this is not the case, it's all domestic unless you upgrade to SunClub. My husband was not pleased about this, in other resorts international drinks meant you got some other choices from other countries, not necessarily premium but better than the domestic fire water. Plenty of bars and great pool service. Beach - 1st 3 days was red flagged, very rough waves but better after that. They do have barriers which can be an eye sore but they are put there to help with the errotion. Further up the beach either way is better. We love walking the beach which was fine. Plenty of beach chairs at the beach and by the pool areas, never an issue. We never had an issue with beach towels either, though near the end of the day around 5:00pm or so was when there were no more. Staff - We never encountered anyone who wasn't cheerful, friendly and helpful. They were great. Special thanks to the gentleman who cleaned our room, Yiemy who was wonderful in the buffet and and another wonderful woman in the lunch buffet by the beach but can't remember her name. But everyone was great. Entertainment - We caught only a couple of shows and if you get the chance to catch the "Circus of Dreams" you have to go, it was amazing. There are plenty of seats in the theater but you can see it from almost anywhere around the main lobby (Sunscape Bavaro) and after the show, just outside of the theater they have a DJ and some rockn' music. All in all we had a great time, great weather, just a few things I would change as mentioned above, but I really believe you get what you pay for and we did pay a low price for this week, so will I go back, probably not. I'd say it was comparable to Cuba but Cuba has much nicer beaches.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Beautiful Island People and Resort!!!

The resort was awesome. The food, staff, beach, room...everything was excellent! The Island is Safe and small and I would recommend a car rental of two to three days to drive about and check it all. It takes about two hours from one end to the other and about thirty minutes side to side. All water is drinkable, common currency is USD or Guilders. 25 Guilders is equal to 15 USD. and prices are comparable to Canadian costs. This will definitely be a return to location and resort and many we spoke to have returned often as well.

Sunscape Cove: The cove is a wonderful resort

The grounds are well maintained. With staying at the cove you have rights to the splash. Omar was a very good waiter in the cove restaurant. You have rights to 6 restaurants but mainly 5 the seafood one is rarely open. The beach is nice but found 7 mile beach better. When we were there it was noisy as the owner is expanding on his property so he put up a tin fence to separate the New resort going up next door. The cove was spotless. When I first looked in the gift shop there were no prices on anything. So I let air transit rep know by the time I was ready to buy everything in the gift shop had a price on it. The workers always smile and are so polite. The only thing I didn’t care for is when you met with someone at the hotel they give you an offer of a free breakfast at one of their other resorts for free. Then they carry on asking you questions. Then the lady will say we will offer you a 3 day2night stay for a $160.00 Then they will say I like you so much I will give you $100.00 gift certificate for our give shop. Us being Nieve signed up for breakfast. Then she said be here 8:30 and don’t forget your credit card. We should have caught on then but we were tired. When we were relaxing some people were telling us about it and this meeting is 90 minutes to deal with timeshares. So we cancelled our breakfast not interested in timeshares. They were very upset with us at that point. It was bad enough when we landed and we got to the resort and had to wait 3 hours for our room. Otherwise the people at the cove are awesome I would go back there but only to the cove. But that’s just me.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great Resort- Sun Club ???

We just returned last week- this is a fantastic resort. Our room was the size of a small condo close to the beach- perfect location. Everything was great- the staff, the food, cleanliness the grounds, the beach and the restaurants. We upgraded to the Sun club and were some what disappointed - not in the amenities but the lack of monitoring on who was using them. This resort does not use bracelets so "in my opinion" anyone could these these facilities and i'm sure it was being abused. Once t [... read more]his issue is addressed I would not hesitate to re-book the Sun Club (I am a repeat customer). We have been to Puerto Plata 10 times previous and this resort is our favorite. The hotel staff was quick to address any issues we had- just a great holiday.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Great Resort

The Sunscape Dorado Pacifico all inclusive resort is one I would recommend to anyone visiting the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo area. The staff in all areas are very friendly and helpful. They make you feel welcome and safe. All areas of the resort are very clean. The resort is compact but not cramped. You can get anywhere without walking very far. The main pool is a good size so it's never crowded. It's also great that flotation devices are permitted to make the pool experience an even more enjoyable one. [... read more] The staff even blow them up for you which is an added bonus. The meals in all the restaurants are average and lacking in variety from day to day. The spa is very clean but pricey. Check in and check out is exceptionally friendly and quick. The staff at the reception desk are extremely helpful with any question you may have or any service you may need including ordering a taxi or making a reservation. All in all I'm very happy with the experience and would definitely return to this resort.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: This resort is fantastic.

This resort is one of the best we have ever been at. This was our 4th time and it was just as good as before. The owners have done a lot of upgrades and the snorkeling is wonderful. The staff are extremely pleasant and only want to please. We highly recommend this resort.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Wonderful staff. Great food. Spotless rooms.

This is a beautiful resort with lovely rooms. Great restaurants and a staff that bends over backwards to help. We changed rooms since our first room was very noisy with a disco across the fence. Thumping bass all night. Building 7 is very noisy. Our next room was much more comfortable. There needs to be more umbrellas around the pools. The vendors on the beach are annoying, however, that is not the resorts fault. If I were to visit again I would choose a less busy time. This is a great  [... read more]place!

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Excellent Place!

My wife and our three girls (23,19 & 19) really enjoyed Sunscape. The best quality about this resort is the service, top notch. Antonio, Uli and Carlos were simply amazing! Thanks guys! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and they stocked your fridge every day. The food was very good, we always found something we liked on the menu/buffet. The Italian al la carte was excellent. The pool b [... read more]ar on one side of the bridge, then a large section for those who like to chill on the other side and then another section where the water slides are. There was lots of seating around the pool except it was disappointing as all the good spots are taken by those who get up at 5 in the morning and they stay down there until the towels are distributed at 7:00 am. Very territorial as we called it. There is not a lot of seating on the beach as its mainly for Sun Club people and if there was seating, its muskoka chairs. We actually rented a palapye bed on the beach for 30US which included a bottle of white wine and it was fantastic. Very comfortable and private. We have stayed at many other resorts in Ixtapa and I can honestly say that the Sunscape so far has been the best resort and we highly recommend it. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Amazing Staff!!

We have stayed at several resorts in Dominican and I would say Sunscape was one of if not the cleanliest. Staff was constantly cleaning, painting, trimming landscaping, cleaning pools, etc. In addition to the clean state of the facilities, I would say some of the highlights for us were: 1. not having to wear a plastic wristband all week 2. not being limited to number of a la cartes we could attend and not having to reserve 3. compact and orderly layout providing ease of movement 4. staff a [... read more]ctually responded to requests for more towels, blankets, etc. - our experience at other resorts would be negative, they rarely appeared. Above all, during our stay my sister-in-law had the misfortune on the last day of breaking her ankle. The medical & hotel staff were wonderful and very caring from tennis court attendant, to doctor, to hotel management, the concierge, the restaurant staff etc. They helped to make a difficult situation more bearable. We truly felt and experienced their concern for her well-being. We would not hesitate to return to Sunscape Resort, we had a most enjoyable vacation.

Sunscape Dominican Beach: Loved it!

We loved this resort. It was very clean. Eveything was close to eachother. A 5 minute walk at the most. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help with anything you need. The rooms were great. The restaurants were great, especially the Japanese and loved the fresh pizza at lunch. They also stay open till the middle of the night. There were some game on the beach during the day and at the pool that are fun. Also the shows at night were good. They normally had live music at the lobby  [... read more]that was great. The disco was slow but on the weekend it is full of locals and only play thier music. We would recommend this place to a friend and would love go back again.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great resort

Second time in four months! Smaller resort but lots going on. The Asian restaurant is great!!! All the staff super attentive. I’ll be going back. Juan at the preferred club lounge is super friendly and makes great bloody mary’s.
